Cattle Barron is a pretty solid steakhouse entry. There is plenty of parking and the interior has a warm, old west feel. The crew there treated us well and the service was good. This evening, I was the mood for a prime rib. My wife opted for grilled shrimp. Both were good. The prime rib perfectly prepared and extra salty. I also liked the au jus. That is a big part of what makes prime rib good. The grilled shrimp and vegetables were also very nicely done. And the cherry on top is one of the best salad bars in El Paso. Easy parking, cozy dining area, good service, good food that is moderately priced. And with such a great salad bar, pushes Cattle Barron from 4-Stars up to 5-Stars!

Had the prime rib--cooked spot-on, definitely the highlight. Caesar salad was good, always served on a chilled plate but this time around the portions that day seemed skimpy. Now, the sweet potato? I've seen larger hors d'oeuvres! Pic says it all. Overall, it got busy, but service kept up. I'd go again--but maybe skip the tiny sweet potato or at least take the servers offer of replacing it.

So I was craving a REAL chicken fried steak so 4 others I was meeting wanted to meet for lunch so I suggested Cattle Barons. So I thought I'd take time to update my review from 4 or so years ago. The inside is definitely western chic meets cowboy cattle drive. There is a huge salad bar but that's like $14.95 for it as an entree with soup. It's all you can eat but that's always a bit steep for me for salad. Even to add it to your meal it's another $4.95. Seriously??? You're plunking down $35 for a prime rib or rib eye or fillet and still want another $5 for lettuce plate?? I'm sorry, that's just gouging at that point, but then I digress. I did order the CFS. I asked for gravy on top of the steak and mashed potatoes both, on everything. And I got a side of sautéed asparagus with tomatoes lemon and parm. It's always really good and I need my greens! Two others I was with got chicken strips, one with regular fries and one sweet potato fries. The 4th in our group did get the 6oz prime rib super rare with onion rings. They are actually thinly sliced onion "strings" and I wish they would put it on the menu as that because when the plates came out one of the people with is, it was their first time eating here, and they asked "what happened to your onion rings!!?? We explained they really aren't rings ... most of the light breading was simply falling off when you picked the strings up... he just said "hmmm that ain't right, don't look right" and laughed but I will say, I come couple of times a month and get the 6 ounce prime rib and whoever was slicing them today was slicing them generously THICK compared to what I have gotten in the past. I told my friend, "thats more like an 8 ounce," and she agreed and dug in. She said it was really good. My CFS had no gravy on top, just under and maybe a drizzle on the potatoes . I had told them to COVER the plate in gravy. I like lots of gravy and don't like dry potatoes. So I had to ask for a cup of gravy. The steak was good and the mashed potatoes were super dry so they needed the gravy. The chicken strips guys said they were just chicken strips, a little over done. Nothing to brag to anyone about. Wondered if they had just been frozen. And then fried up, didn't seem fresh and had no real flavor on the breading or inside the chicken. The fries were just fries. Nothing special. So basically 2 out of 4 dining had a mostly good dining experience and 2 had a more typical fast food type. Our server was friendly and checked on us twice to refill drinks and fresh bread. All the western motif is pleasant to the eye. And they even had some history to see and read about in a glass case at the Front of the restaurant. And I can attest they do make a good grilled steak too. It's more laid back here than a Texas Roadhouse, less hustle and bustle, not as loud. Let's you take your time to relax and enjoy your meal and your friends and family if dining with them. Just missed the mark on some things with us today..

Came on Mother's Day and we were lucky to be seated right away as a party or 3! Their portions are the perfect size. I recommend getting the salad bar because they have so many salad items to choose from to customize your own salad. I love that they have lots of pasta salad options too.

I came here with a coworker while on a work trip and the food was good. I ordered the Filet mignon with the loaded mash potatoes and lemon garlic asparagus and it tasted well. My coworker got the prime rib and said it was good as well. We shared an appetizer of the bacon wrapped shrimp and liked that as well. Our waiter Adam was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. I can't say it was the best steak I ever had but it hit the spot. I felt like the price was about what you expect at a steakhouse. Overall a good experience for what El Paso has to offer.

First off our waiter was higher than a kite, we decided to try Cattle Baron as other reviewers said that it was just as good as Cattleman's, far from it.... The fideo was delicious as well as the salad bar, the Rangoon's were also very tasty but the rest was sub par and commercialized. The creamed horseradish was sweet and not very flavorful, the au jus was cold, asparagus needed more seasoning. The restaurant itself is beautiful, prices are reasonable but it was lack luster as a full experience.

The taste was awful. Food was not even fresh nor did it taste fresh.

Where do we begin? I was skeptical coming here based on the reviews but gave it a try anyways. Big mistake. First off, my waiter was amazing. I wish I remembered his name because he exemplified great service and was a highlight of the night. The decor reflects a mid western theme and was appropriate. It's spacious on the inside and we walked right in on a Friday night. The food was below average. The prime rib was awful and I cannot believe they served me the cut of prime rib they did. Refer to my picture to see what I'm talking about. It tasted awful. Shame on them for sending it out the kitchen. I told the waiter and he was kind about it. I asked to order a ribeye instead because I no longer had a desire to eat prime rib. The ribeye came out in less than 5 minutes and I knew it was not going to be good. I ordered a medium ribeye and it was undercooked. At that point, I was over it and just wanted to leave. The experience was utterly disappointing. The salad bar had several options and was decent but not returning to.

    Fried ice cream

We had wine, a margarita, the prime rib, chopped steak, salad bar, and fried ice cream. The food was great as always, but the server, Jorge, made this dinner the best experience we have ever had at a Cattle Baron. For reference, we frequent the Ruidoso and El Paso locations. He was prompt, polite, accommodating, and got our order correct despite being the bartender and our server when the restaurant was approximately 40% occupied either diners. I hope Cattle Baron recognizes what an asset he is to their business and makes him feel as appreciated as we did as his patrons. If I operated a restaurant, I would try to lure him to work for my business. My two complaints with Cattle Baron, not specific to this visit but in general, are: 1. they don't provide real butter, providing margarine instead. I find this disappointing as margarine is not only disgusting but it's unhealthy and not the standard I expect in a restaurant of Cattle Baron's class. 2. They refuse to serve alcohol to anyone who can't produce an ID despite the people very clearly being over 30 or 40. I almost walked out one night and considered never returning when the same server that waits on us and checks my ID almost every week said she wouldn't serve me a margarita without seeing my ID that I had unfortunately left at home. I respect entities that follow rules and don't condone serving minors, but for Christ sake, how many people under 21 years old dress up like people who are clearly over 50 so they can order over priced alcoholic drinks at their restaurants?

This spot is a great choice for lunch if you are short on time. The ample salad bar has loads of items and you probably will get full before your meal arrives. I opt for the salad only most times because it definitely is enough. Service is good and the ambiance is fun.

We ordered the bone marrow appetizer, iceberg wedge, Caesar salad, and two kids meals to go. Unfortunately, nearly every aspect of our order had problems. The bone marrow was excessively salty to the point of being inedible. We tried to salvage it by scraping away the salt, but ultimately had to throw it out, I was not happy as you know bone marrow is not cheaply priced. The salsa macha accompanying it was also missing. My Caesar salad arrived with wilted lettuce literally hanging out of the container, clearly not fresh enough to serve. One kids meal had the wrong side item, no silverware was provided, and our drinks were forgotten entirely. We returned to address these issues, and while the manager was apologetic and remade our order, the replacements were still subpar. My LARGE salad was noticeably smaller than what I originally ordered, and the salsa macha, when finally provided, was very mediocre at best. I've had a lot better. I'm typically understanding when restaurants make one or two mistakes, but when an entire order is executed this poorly, it's hard to overlook. I understand they were busy, but they seriously need to execute better under those conditions. For a chophouse at this price point, the quality and attention to detail should be far better. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

I'd been there once before, though not among the regular folk. Ten years ago, I sat in the private dining hall, watching the cooks tend to ribeyes over an open flame. Those steaks were laid on a grill set at a slant, so the grease dripped away instead of pooling beneath the meat. No shortcuts. No nonsense. Just fire, steel, and beef. This time, I pushed through the restaurant doors like a dusty traveler looking for redemption. Inside, a hungry soul can choose their cut, name their doneness, and pick their fixin's. Sure, there are other offerings on the menu--but I didn't ride all that way for chicken. I ordered the 24-ounce porterhouse they call the Cowgirl. For the truly brave, there's the Cowboy--a two-and-a-half-pound behemoth fit for a cattle drive champion. The steak arrives with a baked potato riding shotgun on the plate. Alongside come cowboy beans, pineapple coleslaw, and warm dinner rolls. And here's the kicker--they'll keep the sides coming if you've got the grit to ask for more. I fought my way through that Cowgirl like it was high noon. Tender, rich, and full of honest flavor--so good it didn't need a drop of sauce. I'll admit, the edges had a touch of toughness, like the desert itself. But that center cut? Smooth as a prairie sunset. Service was sharp and steady, the kind you hope for when you hitch your horse outside. But what truly sets Cattlemen's apart is its solitude. Out there, far from city noise, you're reminded of a quieter time--when towns were few, distances were long, and a good meal after a hard day's ride meant everything. If you're looking for a steakhouse that feels less like a restaurant and more like a scene from an old frontier tale, this is the place. Just bring your appetite--and maybe loosen your belt a notch before you saddle up.

The kids split a a BLT. The calamari is also good. Next time I might think about the Peruvian salmon tiradito. It's a classy joint, it's on our go to list to impress folks, and it has never failed us on location, drinks or eats. It's a nice place to take that special someone. Recommend.

The restaurant's ambiance is striking, featuring Tulum/Riveria Maya-inspired decor that combines elements with modern aesthetics. The use of wood, metals, warm lighting, and overall dining room and outdoor terrace displays and creates an inviting dining experience. Service: The service is attentive and knowledgeable, with server who was eager to recommend several of the restaurant favorites. Not one dish we did not like-all amazing! Culinary Highlights: Mesquite Grilled Spanish octopus was Smokey yet savory. Cooked to perfection also served with Fingerling potatoes and salsa macha The bone-in ribeye (prime) cooked on a firewood grill was a true highlight of the menu, showcasing the restaurant's expertise in preparing a distinctively rich flavor entree. Cooked with beef tallow (no seed oils) chefs kiss Smoked beef short rib was so tender and had Oaxacan quesillo potato purée with tomatillo jam. Simply did not disappoint. Street style corn with chipotle aioli had us all going back for seconds. The sweetness of the corn balances with the smokey, spicy notes of the aioli. Craft Cocktails: Well balanced and wide selection of Tequilas to choose from. I can't say enough good things! Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out with friends or family this restaurant is sure to impress. Our Group agreed that it was a meal and experience that will leave lasting impression. We will be back!!!!!

It felt like a place you'd want to hang out for a while. Definitely make a reservation because it fills up quickly. Service was a little slow at times, but our server was super friendly and helpful with recommendations, so it didn't take away too much from the experience. The bone marrow was AMAZING!! Easily one of the highlights of the night. We also ordered the Delmonico with bone marrow butter, which was cooked well and really flavorful. Drinks were great too and very well balanced. Overall, this place is a solid 4 stars, pushing 5. Great atmosphere, good drinks and some really standout dishes.

The tasting started with a summer tomato and goat cheese salad paired with a moet a& Chandon with ice. It was really good. Moet on ice, ain't too bad. The second course was an almond crust d lobster tail paired with a imperial rosé. Nicely done, The lobster wasn't so huge, like Maine, but it was enough for a second course and paired well with the rosé. Tena nahafinaritra ny fampianarana fahatelo. The course was also pair d with a wonderful asparagus and/or a three cheese potato stack. All good. Finally, unfinished the evening with a cup of coffee and coconut pineapple cake. Elgadillo ... Aguilar, Eddie & Diana all were great servers and presenters keeping the evening moving without distraction to the groups being social. I love Ruth Chris typically, but this pairing and tasting experience was pretty neat.
