The Steak and Shrimp.
Sara C.

It was a really cool dinner experience. The staff were really nice and accommodating for our large group. The menu is a little pricey. I ordered the steak (filet mignon) and shrimp with rice and the herb butter. For the price I expected more but the food was still pretty good. The steak was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were small-medium sized just butterflied. The dinner came with rolls, beans, and pineapple cole slaw. The beans were just ok. The pineapple slaw was different. I actually kinda liked the slaw. I would go back.

The food is savory and delicious. The restaurant decor gives the impression of a nice westerner steakhouse. The food is the star of the show. Simple menu with simple ingredients gives a hearty flavors. The service is good. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the menu options.

Thirty miles south of El Paso, where the desert stretches wide and the sun beats down like a blacksmith's hammer, there stands an oasis known as Cattlemen's Steakhouse--serving up some of the finest grub west of the Pecos. I'd been there once before, though not among the regular folk. Ten years ago, I sat in the private dining hall, watching the cooks tend to ribeyes over an open flame. Those steaks were laid on a grill set at a slant, so the grease dripped away instead of pooling beneath the meat. No shortcuts. No nonsense. Just fire, steel, and beef. This time, I pushed through the restaurant doors like a dusty traveler looking for redemption. Inside, a hungry soul can choose their cut, name their doneness, and pick their fixin's. Sure, there are other offerings on the menu--but I didn't ride all that way for chicken. I ordered the 24-ounce porterhouse they call the Cowgirl. For the truly brave, there's the Cowboy--a two-and-a-half-pound behemoth fit for a cattle drive champion. The steak arrives with a baked potato riding shotgun on the plate. Alongside come cowboy beans, pineapple coleslaw, and warm dinner rolls. And here's the kicker--they'll keep the sides coming if you've got the grit to ask for more. I fought my way through that Cowgirl like it was high noon. Tender, rich, and full of honest flavor--so good it didn't need a drop of sauce. I'll admit, the edges had a touch of toughness, like the desert itself. But that center cut? Smooth as a prairie sunset. Service was sharp and steady, the kind you hope for when you hitch your horse outside. But what truly sets Cattlemen's apart is its solitude. Out there, far from city noise, you're reminded of a quieter time--when towns were few, distances were long, and a good meal after a hard day's ride meant everything. If you're looking for a steakhouse that feels less like a restaurant and more like a scene from an old frontier tale, this is the place. Just bring your appetite--and maybe loosen your belt a notch before you saddle up.

My favorite restaurant in the whole world. Huge seating areas, great food, and fantastic service by very experienced servers. I eat here every time I travel to El Paso/Juarez for business. The prices are not bad for what you get. Unlimited slaw and bbq beans with most entrees. I pig out on slaw & BBQ beans then take my steak home with me.

Place was huge with so much history! Service was descent. Steak was undercooked for two of us at the table and had to be sent back 3 times between us. Food was really good! Steak had a great flavor. Potato could've been cooked a little longer, but descent. Large ranch to visit and animals to interact with. Def worth the drive!

Celebrating a birthday dinner on Wednesday evening. Arrived just as cattlemen's was opening for the night. Party of 6 we were seated rather quickly and got to sit in the back room and enjoyed the sunset. I ordered the cowgirl with a loaded baked potato. The wait wasn't long and the food arrived shortly. I order my steak medium cause I like a juicy pink center. I wasn't disappointed my meat was cooked to perfection. Meal came with the complementary beans and coleslaw which is delish. I finished it all and damn I'm craving it again as I writes this..

Cattleman's Steakhouse isn't just a restaurant--it's a full-blown Texas experience. We visited for the first time with local family who go about once a year, and honestly, we couldn't believe they'd never brought us before! We came with a large party of 23, and our server handled it like a pro--attentive, accommodating, and efficient. It made a huge difference in our overall experience. As you'd expect, we ordered a ton of food. My daughter had the baked potato and pineapple coleslaw, which she loved. I went for the surf and turf, but honestly wish I'd gone all in on the Cowboy steak or large filet mignon--because this place shines when it comes to steaks. Cooked perfectly and packed with flavor, the meat was clearly the star of the show. The sides didn't disappoint either--from the spicy ranch beans my son devoured, to the herbed butter corn, mushrooms, and dinner rolls. A couple of my cousins tried the Flintstone-style beef ribs and gave them a big thumbs-up. To end the meal, we shared the pecan pie à la mode, which was a standout dessert. Needless to say, almost everyone left with leftovers. The ambience is casual and welcoming--shorts and t-shirts totally fine--and the ranch setting is incredible. There's a mini-zoo with ostriches, peacocks, goats, rabbits, buffalo, and more, plus a stunning lakeside view that really lights up at sunset. The kids loved the animals and gift shop, and the peaceful vibe made the whole evening feel special. For the tasty food, generous portions, family-friendly atmosphere, and unforgettable setting, Cattleman's is absolutely worth the drive. We'll definitely be back.

This was our go to "show off Texas to visitors" restaurant for 40 years, but I think we'll go to Chicos Tacos now instead. It used to be an adventure: part mini theme park with hay rides, animals, artifacts, play structures for the kids, movie sets etc all Served up with a nice steak and all the fixings. The "rib eyes" we had were less than 1/2" thick and had no marbling. I think they were bought off one of those trucks with "ribeyes for $10" parked on the side of the road. A rib should fall off the bone, these had to be cut off. The interior is dated and dusty, the extremely over priced menu hasn't changed in decades. There is no point in bringing a vegetarian let alone a vegan (would it be too much trouble to make some BBQ onion and pepper kabobs?)? The staff are friendly and the service is quick.

This place is awesome. Definitely an experience worth taking while in El Paso. Amazing food. Great service. Abel wins best server award hands down.

The ribeye steak was amazing, and the lobster with the butter-yum!! It came with a side of beans for the table, wow! They were soooo seasoned! I'd definitely visit again!!

Too much we could not finish it , to go please fillet minion and lobster

Beautiful place ! the drive to this place at night beautiful !! The history inside amazing ! Service top knotch ! Server went beyond checked in us frequently made sure we were good gave us some good appetizers ideas since it was our first time, explained their menu nicely answered questions as well. We had the brisket appetizers, I eat very small so had the shrimp appetizers cocktail loved the sauce so much flavor, fillet mignon did not disappoint so delicious and my favorite the coleslaw has some pineapples like waaat! Pinnaple on pizza or pinnaple on coleslaw so Goood! The butter was so good, didn't like the bread too much but overall the food was the best! I can't have much of it the bread anyway. They have restrooms , day time they have activities, very historical images inside very well presented. They do not have reservations it is first come first serve. Valentine's Day will be busy

The area is huge and pretty cool to look at but unfortunately that's the only good thing I can say about this place. Food is super bland. They don't season anything they serve! The steaks they serve are full of fat and you barely actually get any good quality meat. Their baked potatoes are severely underbaked and no wonder the "side" is all you can eat. Cheap unseasoned food. I'd recommend trying it once for the experience but that's about it. The food isn't worth the price.

I've never been to a ranch before, but I'm glad my first time was Cattleman's. As our family waited to be seated, we went to the back to see and feed the ranch animals. The ranch has an ostrich, rabbits, goats, horses, sheep, peacocks, and buffalo. We were able to feed the goats and rabbits for a quarter. There's also a lakeside view that is stunning during sunset and you can see the geese on the water/flying as night falls. After an hour of waiting, our party of 14 was seated. The interior of the ranch really made you feel like you were in a cabin in the rural countryside, but a nice and cozy cabin and not a wild west saloon. The waiter had a heavy but jolly Southern accent and took care of us for the night. The food was served in large portions, with ginormous ribs, steaks, and sides. Bread, butter, coleslaw and baked beans are refillable throughout the night so my partner and I opted for a 14 oz ribeye with corn on the cob and beef brisket and ribs with curly fries so we wouldn't get full too fast. The ribeye, which I got medium rare, was well seasoned and super tender. The beef brisket and ribs were also tasty and had a smoky flavor paired with tasty barbecue sauce. The piña colada we ordered, initially a little sweet, was great when paired with the savory food. For the tasty food, large portions, and mini zoo, the experience was worth the money. My only regret was not trying their dessert (darn these big Texas portions!).

Cattleman's Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Cattleman's Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch

Does it have outdoor dining?

I have only been once, in Jan 2022. They had no outdoor dining. Tables were, however, well-spaced and servers were masked.

Does anyone know if the zoo and other things to do open before the restaurant?

Yes, thirty minutes prior

Is this establishment BYOB?

No. They offer a full service bar.

Is there any dog friendly seating available? We will be traveling with our puppy but would love to stop here if so.…

Unfortunately I don't think it's Pet a pet friendly restaurant. There is outdoor seating, call ahead to find out, maybe they are willing to help out.

Is there a kids menu? I personally couldn't find one.. wondering if someone whos gone with kids has seen a kids menu?

There is several things kids can see and do such as a hayride and movie set etc. As to the kids menu to include to the answer above I think there are chicken nuggets and small kabobs. Kids would enjoy going.

Do they serve any alcoholic drinks here? Thanks

Yes, they have a cocktail lounge and a full liquor license.

This restaurant is very unassuming and a hidden gem that is located in a strip mall. From the exterior, it's hard to know what to expect but when you walk in the restaurant, it's got a good ambience to it. It could make for a romantic date night, dinner or more casual dining experience at the bar, Overall it was a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. They offer booth seating, romantic table seating for two or more and seating at the bar. The hostess and the servers were very attentive. We received excellent service from the bar as well. The drink that I chose was a Side Car and coming from LA, we have great Mixology, but I have to say that this drink blew me away. And could possibly be one of the best whiskey cocktails I've had in a long time! It was so well, balanced, and perfectly crafted. We ordered the mussels and the fish of the day which was the trout in a lemon wine caper sauce. Both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we ordered both the chocolate mousse and the crème brûlée. I did not try the chocolate mousse, but my daughter said it was amazing. The crème brûlée was also perfectly made. The server, Bruléd at the table and that was a nice touch. I have had a lot of crème brûlée desserts and have my top five and I have to say this was probably on the list. So happy that we stumbled upon this place and I will probably be visiting one more time before I go back home. I highly recommend it!

Expectations and reality were nothing alike. As we were seated our waiter took 10 min to great us and then another 12 min to bring our drinks. I didn't think anything of it yet it was a precursor to the rest of our dinner. After he took our order our kids food came out in a very timely fashion but our two orders of salmon and one steak sandwich took 40 min to arrive at the table. What a ridiculous waste of my time because my sandwich was missing the fries ordered and our waiter thought nothing of it till I brought it up then he took another 10 min to bring my fries. All this while simultaneously forgetting the sauce for the salmon which also took another 10 min to bring out. The salmon was so dry it was tacky and stuck to your teeth. If you know the feeling you know it's bad. The rice that came underneath the salmon was crunchy and way undercooked. All while the waiter was like oh I can bring you free deserts for your wait all while I could only think about how I just wanted to leave. I was internally livid and exhausted but kept it to my self after seeing the owner or manager who we the guy with the white hair over at the bar enjoying a few alcoholic beverages meanwhile his restaurants service and waitstaff to the worst possible job they can. I saw the people who got the most attention and good service were all regulars sitting at the bar laughing it up with the manager/owner older guy. Why not make sure your restaurant is running smoothly and food is being delivered and prepared properly and stop trying to impress the regulars who most likely will show up either way. Any restaurant that is this unorganized and unmotivated is due to crappy management. All this and the waiter is like I'll comp you for the steak sandwich with a discount for the bad service and salmon which was a whopping $5. I don't want a discount I don't want free day old desserts I want good service and decent food. Discounts and free desserts will never fix the problem because it will always be a crutch for trashy customer service. How about stop drinking with the guests and whoop that staff into semi decent shape buy some high chairs and make sure your expo does a once over quality check on the food and time it takes to get to the table EVEN if that means stepping in and doing it yourself. The restaurant is dark the tables are sticky the whole place is very compact . Perfect and quite attractive after 5-6 wines for sure. I'm sure the food is outstanding after a few drinks as well . They gave us a $25 dollar gift card to return which if I could I'd give to the owner so he could experience the same horrible food and service we did. I wouldn't even give the gift card to someone I hated. This was one of the first times in a long time I didn't just let it slide because I understand all restaurants and people have bad days but this was exceptionally bad. If you are thinking it can't be that bad think again it absolutely can. The whole "I'm sorry we usually have awesome service and everyone loves our food it's probably just me and my family " is laughable . This isn't my first time here while visiting El Paso. The food is getting worse.
