Horrible Manager (Daisy) Experience: I do not ever leave bad reviews, but this is one is necessary. I visited Great American at Vinton for the second time in the past month only to find they once again do not have any Filet Mignon's. First time I ordered the salmon instead and this time my friend and I decided to share the T-Bone - Medium. When we got it, I cut it up so we could share only to notice it was completely rare, we let our waiter (the bartender) know and he immediately sent it back. They allegedly tried to re-cook the cut up pieces and it came back still rare (I have photos). We let him know and he apologized and sent it back. We asked if we could get a new steak so this one wouldn't be cooked for a third time. We received a new steak and the minute we cut into it AGAIN it was rare. We let him know and he said give me a minute. That's when the manager Daisy showed up at our table and said "YES" in a very rude tone. Granted we didn't ask for her so that was an extremely inappropriate way to treat her customers. We told her our steak was rare and she said "IS IT" I put my flashlight to it and she grabbed the plate, said "we'll remove it from your bill" and walked away. No sorry, no can we get you anything else? I have never encountered anyone so rude especially in the service industry. We were patient and not rude in anyway for having to wait 45 mins to not ever getting a meal and sharing a side of grilled veggies for dinner. Your manager Daisy needs to learn customer service and should not be serving in a manager role!!! We support local restaurants, but please do not treat your customers with such disrespect, when we did nothing wrong other than not want to eat bloody raw meat. Went to celebrate sons birthday, they always choose this location. my daughter in law wanted wine , waitress said we only have two all other we are out, she wanted something else. they were out, requested birthday candle they were out- service is very slow yet the place was empty , waitress was very nice even tho she didn't remember to bring more water or Parmesan cheese, had to request catsup a few times ,ordered strawberry cheese cake- had slices or strawberries , the cesar salad dressing was watered down. very disappointing meal. hopefully for my others son bday in march he chooses a different place - by then they may only have water read more

Very very bad. I should have read the reviews. Many steps below a golden corral. We sat for almost 10 minutes waiting for our server when there were very few people in the restaurant. We then saw our server, Ashley, prepping silverware when another server went to ask her who was taking us as a table. We drew the short straw with Ashley. I got there asked for my order 1st they said they had it then after that when I asked again they said it was almost done and then after 30 mnts waiting I asked again and now it was a " we don't have that order can we see the email" then she said they will re make it fast after 10 mnts I asked for the manager and she said she checked and the kitchen wasn't remaking it then she found my order in the boxes that were sitting behind me since I got there & that I had already asked them to check them and the hostess said it wasn't my order. It came with big bowls of beans and slaw like you would get at a family style restaurant. Neither anything special. So the meal barely gets a star. We sat in the bar area. Of the 8 or 9 tables in there plus the bar...they were never bussed the entire time we sat there. I felt like we had been deserted in an empty dining room. It took forever to get water. I had launch on Teo occasions. I ordered a rib eye sandwich with tampiqueña topping and fries. Wow! Both were delicious! I was only able to eat half my rib eye sandwich, so I would recommend you share. The fries were thick, chunky slices and so good. The second visit I ordered beef ribs. If you're into beefy ribs, this is your place. The ribs were tender and delicious. A side of sauce was available, but the seasoning on the ribs were all that was needed. Along with your ribs, you get a coleslaw with pineapple chucks and baked beans. The slaw was good. I never touched the baked beans because the ribs and pineapple coleslaw was all I needed. Great food, plenty of options, services was just what we needed. Ordered (and split) a 16 oz rib eye. A tiny underdone for medium rare (it was mostly rare) but we aren't picky about that. Steak came with a dinner roll, baked beans, coleslaw. We also ordered a side of corn and loaded baked potato. Started the meal with roasted cauliflower which was too salty for my preference. Had to ask for a wine list, which covered enough options for the meal but not their shining point. Service was good. I went here last night on a dinner date with a friend. I was treating and only had $120 to work with so we ordered the spinach dip, 40 oz porterhouse to share with a baked potato amd mashed potatoes for sides. I also had one of their signature cocktails but I don't remember the name of it but it had Don Julio in it. The waitress was nice and friendly and kept our drinks filled. The spinach and shrimp dip with tortilla chips was good. The steak was absolutely delicious a perfectly cooked and the sides were good as well. Don't waste your time & $$$ at this place. We ordered 4 rib eyes that were tasteless, the main dish came with 2 sides and rolls but none were available. Of the sides we wanted 5 listed in the menu weren't available- baked potatoes, corn cob, potato wedges, and even coleslaw that was supposed to be part of the main dish wasn't available. We recently went to the Great American Steakhouse in Vinton on August 30th. Having moved away from El Paso 25 years ago, we were excited to go to this place since we had great memories of how good the food was. To say we were disappointed is saying too much. The first sign of trouble was the tabletop we were sat at was so unstable I thought it was going to come off the base. I had a New York and my wife had the ribeye. Both steaks were so thin that it would be impossible to get them cooked the way you like. I remember when the New York was so thick they would sometimes butterfly it to get it done right. The bread is advertised as fresh baked, but I swear it was cold stale Kings Hawaiian bread. Canned beans and tasteless cole slaw. The best part of my meal were the steak fries. The only positive thing I can say was our server Anabel was very attentive and did her best to make a bad situation good. I've lived in El Paso all my life, and I've always wanted to come here. I finally made the trip out to El Paso to go to this steak house and I was very disappointed. Now, the atmosphere is beautiful here. It is very nicely decorated. But, that's the nicest thing I can say. It took them a half hour to sear us despite there being plenty of tables available. Then they took a good half hour to take our order. Our server was actually surprised that no one had spoken to us and not taken our order since we had been there for an hour now. We quickly gave her our order and didn't see her again for 40 minutes. Our first dish was their delicious soup. It would have been better served hot instead of cold, but it was delicious. We figured the chef had served it and she didn't bring it to us until it was cold. The same thing for our main course. The food was delicious but it was served cold. If you keep your wait staff so busy they can't deliver food on time then you need more kitchen staff. Plus the restaurant was not that packed. I couldn't tell what our server was doing. And finally, because she was never around we couldn't tell her we had no steak knives, we needed to cut our steaks with butter knives. Adding more time to the 3 hours we had been there. Our food was not only cold but overcooked. So I'm sure this place must have been incredibly back in its day, but now that I know how bad the service is, I will not be coming back again. It's a steakhouse and the steak was delicious. But too many details that detracted from the experience. We were seated at a table that was so wobbly that our drinks would spill. We had to request a change, and during our entire time there, no effort to fix it was observed. The food arrived and the steak was delicious, a thin cut sirloin that was tossed on a cold plate. I had to request a reheat. I ordered a loaded baked potato at an upcharge and had to request butter and sour cream because it was so dry. At this point I was able to finish my meal. So I am definitely a little conflicted on what rating the steakhouse deserves. I stopped by on a fluke because I had not eaten all day and it was right off of the highway. The coleslaw seemed like it came out of a cafeteria bag for a high school lunch, just ordinary. The baked beans however were good with a slight amount of spice. The side salad had issues however. First I wanted a Caesar salad but was told they had no Caesar dressing. So settled for the side green salad which had very bitter tasting lettuce and some of it was wilted. It did not get delivered until the end of the meal due to unexplained issues in the kitchen. The waitress said she would take it off the bill but that did not happen. So kind of a mess. So next time I would probably keep driving down the road and try a different restaurant. I have a feeling this is a chain restaurant that is run by a board of directors who are more concerned with cost instead of quality. Too bad. read more

Holy cow, Batman, I think that there's an actual cow in this burger! I tried out Great American Steakhouse today off Vinton and got their Hatch chile burger. It was surprisingly a great value as the burger and steak fries was only $12. Beats the Big Mac Meal I get for $8-9; for a few bucks more I get real beef versus a combination of beef and soy "meat". For some reason I thought this was a high end steak house. The steaks and burgers run an average of $12-$15 which is frankly Chili/Applebee's pricing for much better quality food.The clientele consisted of construction foremen, border patrol, and older snowbirds/elderly locals. One of which I overheard trying to buy alcohol bottles to bring back to Vermont. They're super big on Covid prevention, mainly because of said clientele, which are more vulnerable and I commend them for it. There's an added $1 for Covid pricing, and I guess it covers the sink outside for washing your hands, the multiple signs asking you to wash your hands, and the temperature machine which was made for short people like me, but anyone above 5'2 might need to stoop down. I think that if I was that concerned, I'd just order to go since they have awesome curbside and no one was utilizing it. ‍ The food is solid, very well flavored and the bone marrow was buttery and outstanding with great garnishes. The burger still has the soft wimpy buns that I'm now just accepting as a Texas thing and disintegrated halfway thru the bites like always; it didn't hold up to the hatch chiles at all. I ordered it medium rare and it was medium, but still very tender and juicy so I didn't mind. My friend loved her fresh guacamole and steak and it came with huge coleslaw and beans sides. We definitely had a lot of leftovers as they were very generous portions sizes. I'm going to come back with my family as it's a great value meal that tastes like it's handcrafted vs the dry prepackaged stuff we were subjected to at Chili's and it's locally owned. We picked up the order, drove home excited to enjoy our meal Opened the tray, veggies were good, ribs were over cooked, very dry, and one piece of bread. They forgot the cole slaw & beans... Went back for the usual sides and they gave us 4 more very hard rolls for our trouble. This is the 2nd time within months that we had problems.
