I visited this restaurant around 8:00 p.m. on a Monday evening while in town for a business trip. It was conveniently located near my hotel, and my first impression was very positive. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, was busy with guests, and I was seated within just a few minutes of arriving. Unfortunately, the experience began to decline after I was seated. I waited approximately 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. While waiting, I looked through the menu and was surprised to find it noticeably dirty, which wasn't the impression I expected from a restaurant of this caliber. When my server finally arrived, she was polite but didn't seem particularly welcoming or engaging. She appeared stressed, which made the service feel rushed rather than hospitable. I ordered a Diet Dr Pepper and my meal at the same time since I had already decided what I wanted. It then took another 10 or more minutes for my drink to arrive. Shortly afterward, someone delivered bread with honey butter, which was excellent. However, no bread plate, napkin, or silverware accompanied it, so I had to flag down another employee before I could enjoy it. After waiting another 20-plus minutes, my steak and fries finally arrived. I had ordered the steak medium rare, but it was burned on one side, barely seared on the other, and when I cut into it, it was blue rare--nearly raw. I asked my server to send it back, and she promptly took it to the kitchen. About 15 minutes later, a replacement steak arrived. Unfortunately, while the opposite side was now burned, the inside was cooked to medium well. I let my server know this was still unacceptable, and she asked if I would like another steak prepared. I agreed, requesting simply that it be cooked medium rare without being burned. To the restaurant's credit, the third steak was prioritized and delivered by who I believe was the manager. She asked me to cut into it to confirm it was cooked correctly. Although the replacement was noticeably smaller and thinner than the original, it was cooked to a proper medium rare, so I accepted it. By that point, however, my fries were completely cold. The manager apologized briefly but never returned to check on the meal or my overall experience. My server didn't return until I was nearly finished eating, at which point she asked if everything was okay. I simply requested the check. What should have been about a 30-minute dinner stretched to well over an hour, and after a long day of business travel, I was ready to return to my hotel. I wasn't expecting my meal to be completely comped, but after multiple mistakes and significant delays, a small gesture of goodwill--such as discounting the entrée or even comping the soda--would have gone a long way. Overall, this restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, and I believe the food has the potential to be very good when prepared correctly. However, the service, management's follow-up, and overall attention to the guest experience fell well below what I would expect from a restaurant of this quality. Really sad excuse of a meal and even worse employees. The host has walked around. Smacking gum are coming from the back, chewing food. The kitchen is sort of open to the restaurant, and the staff sits there and congregate in one particular server was cussing at the kitchen crew and being really loud. It's obvious that they don't prefer singles because the table next to me, a party of six got a lot of attention from the manager seeing how they were doing and I got completely ignored. I got sat next to the meat counter. And look at my food this is a pathetic display of food a tiny overcooked piece of chicken and a popper mashed potatoes no garnish. On 5/27/2026 I had a business dinner with several clients and the venue I chose was West Texas Chophouse, which was the right choice. The restaurant put us in our own room for better dining experience and our server was Meah who did a wonderful job. I personally started with a Caesar salad followed by the boneless ribeye cooked medium rare and it was delicious!! Of the 11 or 12 guests I had that evening, 6 of them ordered the boneless ribeye and all were satisfied! For desert I had a couple of Basil Hayden Old Fashioneds, which was a wonderful end to a great dinner. Went for the first time last week. We were immediately shown to table but then we waited about 15 minutes before our server arrived. My husband ordered a steak and I ordered the green chile burger. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly and my burger was juicy. They both were very good. Our waiter did not check on us and we had to flag him down for drink refills and our check. With the quality of this restaurant I'm really surprised they served and charged for the asparagus. It was like dry grass. I've never seen asparagus like that in the store let alone served at a quality restaurant. My steak was a little undercooked for half the steak. Their heat wasn't consistent. Half my steak was cooked perfect medium and the other half was rare. There was a lot of grizzle in this steak today. It was my only bad experience for food out of many visits. At 59, I'm ticking off a bucket list item. Driving across America. I am currently in El Paso, TX having started in Tampa, FL and will end up in Fresno, CA. so, I have been thinking about steak & West Texas Chophouse looks very good. Indeed, they lived up to their Yelp reviews. I had a 20 oz. Bone in Ribeye (the way God intended ) cooked medium with backed potato. I won't be slapping my mother but I will call her later this evening , to sing the praises of this excellent piece of meat. Particularly the char. It is the best I have ever had. If this placed served a dish that consisted of nothing but the end pieces (where they hug the bone) I would have to consider moving here. That char was perfectly blackened & bursting with flavor. The baked potato (which was backed in an oven & NOT microwaved) was very good also. The Alex's Philly Cheesecake was not as good as the steak but it got the job done. I sat at the bar so the service was immediate but the unsweetened tea tasted like I was the second person who drank some all day. This place is large (it has 'Texas' right in the name!) & because you have to do parking lot gymnastics in the full parking lot, I expected a little wait on this hot Sunday afternoon. Happily there was no wait. It has a high barn-like roof that amplifies customers talking to a semi-comfortable background cacophony but the steak was so good I entered into my own little world. I travel for work every week for the Veterans Administration. and usually have steak about once every week or two at higher-end restaurants, so I have a lot to compare it to. The food at West Texas Chophouse was very good, and the staff who took care of me were polite, professional, and efficient. Unfortunately, the Femail manager wearing glasses completely overshadowed the experience. I was seated near the kitchen and watched her repeatedly bark orders at employees, disrespect them, and make them visibly uncomfortable. They were clearly walking on eggshells around her. Great food and a good staff, but the manager's behavior created a very unpleasant atmosphere. Corporate or whoever is above her needs to address this because employees and customers deserve better. read more

Stopped in for dinner with a coworker on a work trip. The restaurant was pretty close to full, but we were seated right away. I'm not sure if our server was new or just in the weeds. I would've rated a four without the subpar service. My old fashioned was great. I ordered a ribeye and was pretty sure it wasn't when it hit the table. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed with what seemed like a very demanding six top seated behind us. My steak had a good flavor and temperature. When my bill came it was less than I expected. Been to this place a couple of times with our customer. Steaks are good, salads are very tasty. Service on the other hand for being somewhat a higher end place is horrible. We were served by Justin. We had to ask twice for everything he was very forgetful. He would disappear to the back for long periods. Ok let me start by saying I enjoy the food here and think the steaks are some of the best in town ... BUT and BIG BUT- lately it's been a huge miss. Don't dare order to go- they do 0 quality check, I order frequently and I've never gotten a fully correct order. The mango salad is really good, but they always, I do mean always forget the dressing (and at least one side and often an entire entree), it's running joke in our house. Eating in is- ok- it's pretty loud- and the two tops are very small and placed awkwardly. From the great Customer service , after they noticed my wife did not really care for her ribeye so they offered to get her a new one cooked medium rare which made the world of a difference in the flavor.the prices and portion size of the meals the entire dinner was a great experience. I had the bone in 20 ounce ribeye with loaded baked potato while my wife had a 16 ounce ribeye and we both had a delicious Caesar salad as our appetizer. The complementary bread to kickoff the evening was really good as well. The restaurant was clean and not overcrowded and the price to food quality and amount ratio was spot on. Extremely Disappointed, Multiple Issues Throughout I had high expectations for this restaurant given its chophouse reputation, but our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer, iceberg wedge, Caesar salad, and two kids meals to go. Unfortunately, nearly every aspect of our order had problems. The bone marrow was excessively salty to the point of being inedible. We tried to salvage it by scraping away the salt, but ultimately had to throw it out, I was not happy as you know bone marrow is not cheaply priced. The salsa macha accompanying it was also missing. My Caesar salad arrived with wilted lettuce literally hanging out of the container, clearly not fresh enough to serve. One kids meal had the wrong side item, no silverware was provided, and our drinks were forgotten entirely. We returned to address these issues, and while the manager was apologetic and remade our order, the replacements were still subpar. My LARGE salad was noticeably smaller than what I originally ordered, and the salsa macha, when finally provided, was very mediocre at best. I've had a lot better. I'm typically understanding when restaurants make one or two mistakes, but when an entire order is executed this poorly, it's hard to overlook. I understand they were busy, but they seriously need to execute better under those conditions. For a chophouse at this price point, the quality and attention to detail should be far better. For my first ever visit to El Paso, I arrived late on a Friday night. Starving but also craving a steak, I drove down the street after getting my rental car and picked a steakhouse that was close to the hotel. West Texas Chophouse was the winner that night. I walked in and was greeted by the manager and I told him I was just looking to grab a bite to eat but I didn't know if reservations were required. The restaurant was packed with people. He got me a small table near the kitchen and the rest is history. As I was walking to the table, I took note of how classy it was. I saw several couples here and it's definitely a place you could take a date. Since steak is my death row meal and I was in Texas, it was a no-brainer on what I was going to eat. I ended up with a dry-aged bone-in ribeye with sauteed mushrooms and a baked potato. First came the bread, which was fantastic. Round, warm rolls with a fluffy inside served with butter. I could have eaten a dozen of them but I had to be careful not to get too full. The steak arrived on a wooden cutting board with the mushrooms and baked potato. It was a nice presentation for sure. Everything tasted great and was exactly what I was looking for. The star of the show was obviously the steak. Dry-aging changes the flavor profile of beef due to reducing the moisture cotent. It's often described as "earthy" or "nutty" but I relate it more as a pungent-like taste, similar to that of bleu cheese. It was cooked to perfection and I ate everything. Even scraped the meat off the bone. I know there's a lot of steakhouses in El Paso and while I tried a lot of them during my week stay, West Texas Chophouse is definitely one of the better ones. read more

I would expect better like an inch to an inch and a quarter. The mushrooms were sliced so thin as to be dry; they are meant to add flavor to the steak, like a pat of butter on the steak. Service was not rushed which I like, but the attentiveness to the water glass and the wine service was poor. I was only asked if I wanted a refill once. Our waitress was pleasant, but seemed to be overworked meaning she didn't come by our table very often. The white potato was not fluffy as it should be, it was undercooked. The kitchen over did the sour cream, too much was put on it. I can cook a better quality steak at home if I buy it from Coronado meat market on Mesa. I can do the sides better than the kitchen. If you come for steak, order other cuts other than fillet mignon. I ordered medium rare and friend ordered medium cooked fillet mignon. Both pieces came overcooked and dry. I gave mine back for replacement. When the replacement came, when I cut, I knew it was not overcooked but the more I cut, it was very raw in the inside. This steakhouse does not know how to cook fillet mignons but the other cuts looked good on the other table. Appetizers were not good either - chicharrones were over cooked, queso fondido was good which is just melted cheese and tortilla. Food quality is 1 star, service is 3.5 stars.
