I let him know that my father and his father would come here after baseball games- as if it were a legend. While he reluctantly agreed - air doesn't look like much from the outside- he knows that places like this can be extraordinarily good. Tiny awesome spot! The kitchen is in full view of the tables, the dinning space isn't large so seating is limited (especially if you come in with a large party). Burger was simple and amazing. I will say the pattie was on the thinner side, so maybe ask for a double if you have a larger appetite. The Chili Fries were bomb, so were the Caldo Cheese Fries. I highly recommend either as a side. They offered both ketchup and green salsa as side condiments. The green salsa had hit of relish flavor, it was a bit weird but good nonetheless. Great Mexican American fusion. Plus try to show up after 1 pm since anytime before then is a bit crazy. There's also not enough parking so expect to park in front of someone's house and walk. I did get there at 1:30 pm on a Saturday so that's on me to wait almost 40 minutes for a burger. It was definitely worth the wait. I love a good smash burger and this is THE place for smash. The wonderful onions on the burger the char taste of the burger itself. Yum!! Then there are two sauces that you have to try. One green and one red and they are not what you expect. Haven't been to Rosco's in a minute now. It's a small diner type place that's often crowded. It's an El Paso staple known for their burgers and even their green chile salsa. It's been around since 1955. If you're not craving a burger, they also offer hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches. Their menu is simple. My bf tells me it was one of his grandfather's favorite spots. He remembers going with him as a child. I also remember my parents taking me and my sister when we were kids. They thought it was super far driving from the eastside. Nothing is really that far in El Paso. Lol. Me and a friend were talking about people traveling anywhere for good food. This is one place you have to try at least once or twice if you're in El Paso. If you're into Whataburger, you'll probably enjoy their burgers. I'm not necessarily comparing the two in taste but I would say they're sort of similar in size. Rosco's has more of a homestyle taste whereas Whataburger is of course a fast food burger. I had to courage to order some Rosco's, because I was able to hide my identity under a face mask. Rosco's is an iconic staple in the El Paso, TX burger joint microcosm, located at 3829 Tompkins Road, El Paso, TX 79930. Nicknamed after the founder and owner's family name, "Carrasco", it was founded in 1955. It's the epitome of an old school restaurant that stayed true to it's roots. I heard the "chile stew" and onion rings are top notch. Unfortunately, I'm not the EP Chile Stew Snob. So I'll take people's word for it for next time. In this occasion I ordered the double cheeseburger with everything on it -- patties, cheese, LTOP, and grilled onions. Interestingly enough, it had fresh onions on the bottom and grilled onions on top. Who doesn't love grilled onions on their burger? The bun was freshly buttered and toasted. Layered bottom to top was mustard, chopped iceberg lettuce (my favorite), two slices of tomato, pickles, freshly chopped white onion, double patties, double cheese and grilled onions melted into the cheese. WOW.... Now I can honestly say, unlike the actual WHATABURGER, when I bit into this, I said WHAT A BURGER. I've only ever said that to 3 burgers in my life... This burger is the closest I've been in the search for my El Paso Unicorn of Burgers. The salsa puts it over the top.
