Oh man I'll admit that this place took me by surprise in the best way possible! My friends and I were in town and were looking for a solid place to eat when we came across this spot through Yelp. I ordered the skirt steak that was drizzled with chimichurri sauce. The steak was well seared and at the temperature I requested, medium, which is sometimes hard to do with this cut of steak. It was well-seasoned and juicy! The potatoes and green beans were cooked perfectly as well. Our server was really kind and efficient when it came to servicing the size of our party. The calamari was very crispy, and came out super fast (like, within minutes). Plate wise, it looks massive, but I could have definitely finished it off by myself. The skirt steak was a different story. It took forever to come out. I was texting a friend from when I ordered to when I received it, and it took 30 minutes. I don't totally understand how since the restaurant barely had any tables... but it was good? In that time though, I didn't know where my server was, and no one has checked in on me so I didn't even know how to ask about my food. Under normal conditions, I think I would be happy with this meal, and would order it again. Would I come back? I think so. The salmon sounded very yummy. Oh this was delicious! I had the focaccia--absolutely amazing! I shared it and wish I hadn't, I wanted it all to myself. Caesar salad was delicious. I had the lamb chops that I devoured. So good. I tasted the chimichurri steak and ngl that was even better. To drink I had some cucumber cocktail. We were seated outside because apparently they had no room inside but inside looked empty. They had heaters that were doing nothing because I stayed cold the whole time. This is my 2nd time here, first time was over 3-4 years ago. This time was slightly disappointing mainly because we paid $200 for tiny portions of entrees. The salmon was tiny, the duck plate had 4 slithers. The only bread pudding was huge, but not as good as it read on menu. The Irish Coffee was so strong and not good at all. The White Russian, Espresso Martini, and Raspberry Bourbon Smash tasted good. The service was good, the ambiance is really nice. The place was busy but plenty of servers and the food came out quick. Damn, that was good! This was one of the Top 30 meals of my life. Most definitely memorable. In fact, I usually eat super fast, but in this case, I ate slowly and savored each bite. The Chicken was great, the Wild Rice was wow, and I have never tasted carrots like that before in my life. Carrots have always been good not great to me, but whatever they did here, they nailed it! The service was also strong. They wouldn't hover but were always there once they saw you might need something. And the whole place is a good vibe. For appetizer we started with the tuna sashimi which was tasty but a bit on the dry side, despite all the ponzu sauce around it which made me think maybe the tuna wasn't so fresh. The two cocktails we ordered were on point! Raspberry lemon and a spicy margarita. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich, it was hot and you could tasty the spices the pork was seasoned/roasted with, to include cinnamon. The fries that came with the sandwich were fresh and crispy and I would be 100% surprised if they don't make it from scratch at the restaurant. I ordered the Branzino, a fried whole fish on a bed of Jazmine rice and asparagus with Parmesan cheese on the side. I understand that depending on your food perspective a whole fish on your plate may look a bit scary, but it was delicious!! The white, mild and flaky fish meat was amazing!! It takes some work to separate the fish from fish bones, but worth it! Extra lemons was a must for me!! We ordered a bottle of Chablis (white wine) with our entres and it was the perfect complement to the meals. So let's get started the experience was amazing! My wife and me went there for our six year anniversary and the food and the service was amazing!! Really I can't find really anything to complain about! The ambiance was great though a little loud. My wife had the chicken piccata if you prefer a wine base sauce with lots of cappers and lemon not for you but if you love cream base definitely for you! I was supper indulgent I ordered both the lamb and the elk and they were amazing! The green beans, carrots and fingerling potatoes were amazing! My review is based on my single experience only, but I was with a large group of people - most of whom had no issues and enjoyed their food. Drinks = delicious! I had a Malibu rum mojito that was very tasty. Too much mint though, which is not needed for flavor. (It clogs the straw and makes drinking it difficult. Mint goes a long way, don't use so much.) I ordered the porchetta with Caesar salad as my starter. The salad was the worst I've ever had. Is it because it's "authentic" with anchovy? I don't know. I've eaten probably 300 Caeser salads before from many different venues - some ultra fancy and some chain fast food like Panera. This one ranks top worst. I did not eat it at all. My dinner included mashed potatoes, baby glazed carrots, and the pork belly. The potatoes were absolutely delicious. The glazed carrots were not cooked evenly - some were almost raw while some were cooked perfectly. Overall, not an issue and they tasted good. The porchetta is where it all ended. It was horrible. Inedible. I've attached a photo of random pics from the internet of what porchetta is supposed to look like. And, I've attached a pic of what I was served. Pretty big disconnect. The skin was literally like burnt shoe leather. Good luck chewing it. I assume the goal was to mimic chicharron but it was a HUGE failure. Even the small amount of meat was awful. No flavor and sooooo tough. Someone else at the table tried it and also agreed that it was inedible and horrible. For fairness, everyone else at my table ordered beef and enjoyed their meal. Except one person who after eating most of their meal found a piece of metal from what we assume was a grill scraper on their plate. WTF. So thankful he wasn't injured! When I saw tavern I was expecting something rustic but what I got was elegance. Roberto was our server and he was very nice and efficient. Sat in a booth and the seats were very plush. Decor was modern with crisp lines and art work that paid homage to old El Paso. Very classy. Food was excellent. I had the chicken sandwich and it was well prepared with a really tasty light sauce. The fries and mac and cheese left something to be desired. It felt like my noodles were so cheesy I didn't get to enjoy the actual pasta portion. Fries weren't as crispy as I would have liked but that's probably a personal preference. If you're not staying in walking distance you still shouldn't have an issue parking. I was surprised to find well cooked & fresh scallops in El Paso- not expecting that since they're inland. The scallops came with a bed of rice and topped with jalapeño. The brussel sprouts were not bad- I'm not a big fan of them but decided to try them anyway. The server, Laura, is very attentive and usually checks on you to see if you need anything. Nice trendy upscale (but not too upscale) vibe. Downtown location. Four of us traveling for business, just two blocks from hotel, saw the good reviews and so gave PT a try. Pricing seemed appropriate for the food quality. For starters we had the baked Brie and the Brussels sprouts. Contrary to the other yelp reviewers we did not love the baked Brie. It wasn't horrible, but not enough other flavors to compete with the big center chunk of Brie and the jelly topping was so-so. The Brie was good quality and nicely baked/softened but too much of one thing. We all loved the sprouts. Just the right amount of gooey goat cheese and sauce to create a new flavor experience. We could have eaten more of this. Two of us had the ribeye. Meat quality was great. Perfect char. Good flavor. Cuts a little on the thinner side. Unfortunately mine was overcooked (got medium to medium well instead of medium rare). Sides were great, especially the large helping of perfectly cooked carrots. The other two had the skirt steak. They were both very happy. It is a large portion so come hungry. Only negative is that the marinade was very sweet so you might get sweetened out before you reach the end, but I'm sure it makes for a wonderful leftover. Service was excellent. Dinner arrived just a little after we had finished the appetizers. Our server did a wonderful job anticipating our needs, keeping glasses filled and the table tidy. To apologize for the overcooked ribeye, we were offered a free dessert. Very nice touch and thoughtful. We followed the server's recommendation and chose the bread pudding. Sooo GOOD! It was quiet at first, since I was pretty early, but the vibe picked up and was super fun right after 5 PM. I ordered the Asadero burger, no buns, extra patty. It was SO GOOD. On our way home from a New Year's New Mexico road trip, we stayed the night in El Paso. Our hotel was a few blocks from the restaurant, so we walked here through the park. Some roads were blocked off near by, but there still seemed to be some street parking. I didn't see any garages or surface lots, though I wasn't really paying attention. We chose this restaurant because the menu said their cubano was on Cuban bread as we are always on the hunt for Cuban food. My wife got the sandwich and it was good, but not what we would consider as authentic. Like most cubanos outside of Florida, it took liberties. I got the chicken piccata and it was excellent. The sauce was perfectly tangy and the crispy chicken is my new standard for the dish. We finished with the churro ice cream sundae, which was AMAZING! We started with the mussels - the flavors were so perfectly balanced! I loved my house salad, but the Caesar was pretty bad. The lettuce seemed like it was a week old, and there wasn't anything about the flavors that gave it a wow factor. Thought of taking off a star for that, but everything else was so perfect.... I ordered the blacked red fish with green beans and beets as my sides. The fish and shrimp were absolutely divine!! I loved every single bite! The green beans were packing a little heat, but in all the right ways. The beets had a cream sauce that balanced them out so perfectly. I was in love with every flavor on my plate, and quite honestly wanted to lick my plate at the end lol My husband ordered the lamb with asparagus and green beans for his sides, and added on grilled shrimp. I didn't mention it before, but those shrimp were colossal. I'm not sure huge lamb person, but my husband loved it! We really loved our meal, and look forward to coming back. This place is a gem in Downtown El Paso. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was perfect. My wife and I both ordered salmon. The house salad was unique. Tasty lettuce with minimal dressing. We both had our salmon cooked medium well and it turned out perfect. The sides of squash and mashed potatoes were delicious. We wrapped up the meal with chocolate cake. The bang for the buck at this restaurant is very high. Only criticism, the food should have been served slightly warmer.
