Casa Pantera is definitely one of the cooler spots we've tried in El Paso so far. The vibe alone is worth going for kind of a dim, moody, tiki-room feel and a really nice atmosphere. It felt like a place you'd want to hang out for a while. Definitely make a reservation because it fills up quickly. Service was a little slow at times, but our server was super friendly and helpful with recommendations, so it didn't take away too much from the experience. The bone marrow was AMAZING!! FYI if you're sharing this specific app with a table of 4 and you order more tortillas they charge you $2 per tortilla which is CRaZY, but anywho. Our server was amazing and the vibe is neat. Definitely a place you want to make reservations for though because it is BUSY and without them it's almost impossible to get a table. If I could rate it a 4.6, I definitely would. Here is why... my boyfriend arrived slightly before 6 pm, and there were well over half of the small (2 person) tables open, but hostess said they were reserved and the only table available was a corner outside that the sun hits directly on it (currently 90°). We decline, she offers the bar. So we sit, and order. Meals are no less than $40-$80 for any good meal, so to sit at the bar having more than half the restaurant empty is a bit disrespectful. So we ask hostess after having ordered food and drinks if there was a reservation cancellation to please move us and sure enough within 3 min, she found a beautiful booth outside in a shaded area with a cool breeze. We got our food immediately and the rest of the experience was wonderful! The drinks are made with daily fresh squeezed juice, food had amazing presentation and a very unique taste! The gentleman who brought the food provided all the details of the food, how it was made and what was in it. I had the salmon and it was delicious, my boyfriend had the beef spare ribs which were also delicious, extremely juicy and tender. We left at 6:45 pm and the restaurant was filled just about the same as when we got there. They could have lost out on business if WE hadn't asked to be seated at a table several times. I think the service up front needs to improve, as we could have been sat at any empty table, unless you have 20+ reservations for 6 pm. Aside from that, the bar folks were amazing and so were the wait staff. Now the ambiance is gorgeous, kind of California vibe with fully open windows, lots of palm trees and greenery, great lighting, fans blowing outside, heaters installed for winter, wooden floors, great color schemes and decor, very modern and clean! We're in town and our hosts made reservations here for Saturday night. I'm so glad they did! The place itself is very cool and interesting looking. I wish it would have been easier to take photos there, but it just didn't work out. It's really pretty and different. There was fairly loud music playing, but not so loud you couldn't hear the people at our table or our server. The service was great! We learned a little about the restaurant. Our server was also very good at explaining the different flavors in the food and the cocktails. I feel like the pacing of the meal was pretty good as well. The food and the cocktails were enjoyed by all of us. I had the short ribs and they were good, but I feel like the dish needed a little more something - like a little sauce maybe. Tucked away, you can find this restaurant if you follow the disco lights. There is street parking available. Reservations are highly encouraged because it does get busy even on a weekday. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is very dimly lit and due to the small space, it's really hard to converse with others. They have a rotating seasonal menu hence why it was very hard to find a menu ahead of time. While there are many delicious dishes available, their most popular entrees are their steaks. Majority of their dishes are Oaxacan inspired. The seafood we had was very fresh and delicious--the ceviche and grilled octopus. The bone marrow was sublime, I could've only eaten that all night. The head of cauliflower was perfectly charred and seasoned. Their wine selection is great. However, I found their sangria to be lacking. I would like to start by saying that our server was great. He knows the menu and to his defense, he did warn me that the trout would have some bones. But I did not expect it to have that many FINE bones. So I won't recommend getting the fish if you don't want to spend your whole time eating getting bones out of your mouth or choking. The Hostess took my name and number on a sticky and we proceeded to the bar. Ordered drinks and while waiting for our drinks I went online to check because there were plenty of tables open. I was able to make reservations.....get this.....for a table available in 15 min. Open Table texted me within the next 10 min to tell me that my table is ready. We were seated right away. I came here on Friday night on a 8pm reservation. We had to wait an additional 30+ minutes because we wanted to sit in the outdoor space, which is highly requested. Our waitress was attentive and had great customer service. The menu is interesting and is high end contemporary Mexican cuisine. Their prices are on the high end so expect to pay $50-$100 per person. Had an amazing experience at Casa Pantera for our anniversary! We started with the Oaxacan Corn Tamal which is by far, the best Tamal I have ever eaten. Trust me, I have eaten many tamales in my life and there's nothing like a home made tamal that your grandma makes, but this Tamal is at another level. You must try it! My wife ordered the filet mignon and I ordered the Ribeye which was amazing. They cook the steaks on a wood burning grill and then add beef fat butter on top which adds more flavor to the steak. The side of potatoes is very good and have a nice flavor with the truffle shavings. I cannot remember what the dessert was called but it was like a brownie with berries and ice cream which was very good as well. It is very pricey (more expensive than their online menu prices), so this will be a once a year/occasion for us. read more

Although it was easy to find the restaurant, it was slightly harder to find parking. Just be aware that it's street parking. We went on Valentine's Day with reservations. Nixtamalized Oaxacan heirloom corn tamal with butternut squash & mushrooms, salsa macha, pickled onion. They make their own masa before making any tortillas. The flavors of this tamal worked very well together. I appreciated the use of seasonal produce. For dinner, I got the filet mignon 8 oz and my husband got the 22 oz ribeye. The steak was absolutely delicious. The steak itself was the main event, but the salt, butter, and chives added just enough to enhance the flavors rather than cover them. We shared asparagus and whipped white truffle potatoes. The asparagus was simple and complemented the steaks well. The potatoes were very savory and strong. I loved them, but my husband found them to be a bit too much. We ate way too much and then ate even more. We ordered a chocolate mole torte with espresso ice cream. So good! It was like eating the most perfect brownie with just a tiny bit of salty flavor and following it up with a scoop of creamy espresso ice cream with crunches here and there. Just so good! We ordered the Casa Paloma, El Rey, and Bruja off of the specialty cocktail menu. The casa Paloma is less traditional than a usual paloma, as it uses mezcal. I believe the other drinks did as well. The chicken had deliciously crispy skin while the meat was so tender it fell off the bone and was in a rich au jous which flavored the potatoes. The salmon Vera Cruz was exceptional . An hour and 3 drinks later already buzzed we were finally seated at our table. FINALLY! Our server Nick was phenomenal, we ordered ANOTHER round of drinks and ordered some appetizers. Our appetizer came out about 30 minutes later which was a lot for an appetizer. But our food was another story.... We waited a ridiculous 2 1/2 hours for some of our food to come out and we did not get to eat together because all the food came out at different times. Nick kept apologizing for the kitchen.... By the time my food came out it was 6 or 7 drinks later, I lost count.... What can I tell you about the food you ask? Nothing really because by that time I was too drunk to even remember my food much less how it tasted. We were all wasted and had terrible hangovers the next morning. We easily spent 4 hours there because we got there at 7pm and did not walk out until almost midnight. For a restaurant of this supposed caliber and with the prices they charge the wait times of being sat and served are outrageous. I haven't been back since... word of advice avoid busy days and eat a snack before arriving especially if you plan to drink... The kitchen obviously does not coordinate very well with the demand or they should do a better job of pre prepping some of the food. I ordered freaking fish and it took almost 3 hours??? WTH??? Did you go to the ocean to catch it and come back??? For such an expensive place you would think they would at least have some sense of time and better execution of their serving time. Have you had a dining experience that felt like a dream? I went with a couple of girlfriends to celebrate some good news to Casa Pantera and it was like a very good dream. Probably because of the premium Mescal they served and drank with us. We made a last minute reservation on Sunday and were able to get a 9:15 pm Tuesday reservation, and the kitchen closes at 10 pm, but the bar and dining area is open til 11 pm. I would highly recommend coming at least 16 minutes earlier because they are slammed and parking is hard to find. Logistics aside, I came early and walked around. This is a beautiful restaurant. It reminds me of Tarzan's treehouse at Disneyland with the 2 levels and the surrounding walkway with seating in and out. It was very well designed with picturesque nooks and crannies; a delightful date night venue for sure. I sat at the very back at the bar where there was an open kitchen and you could see all the workers and chef creating their beautiful dishes. I was the only one there and at first they thought it was crazy but I asked if I could sit there and just eat and watch their work, like a Japanese omakase bar. I was able to take lots of pictures of their incredible dishes as they plated and sent them out of the kitchen. My friends arrived and since one of them was our selection. She got a Paloma (Virgin) which was surprisingly legit, we didn't miss the alcohol at all. I got a Michoacana Mule which definitely had a kick but was very refreshing. My other friend got a Bruja which was downright brutal, that thing packed so much alcohol it felt like a sucker punch. Chef gave us a roasted cauliflower for being so patient, and I kid you not, it was one of the best roasted cauliflowers I've ever had. It had golden raisins and salsa matcha, so it was sweet, savory and spicy. Honestly that was basically the theme of the night. I asked and was told that the concept is something like a Modern Mexican Chophouse, using Mexican techniques and cooking methodology and indigenous ingredients but with a modern twist. They have menus that are seasonal and changes keep things exciting and fresh What that meant was a backdrop of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors intermingled with contrasting textures of whole nuts, thick salsas and sauces, and gummy raisins. Somehow it works really well together and creates vibrant contrasting and fun dishes with seasonal veggies and fresh proteins (surf and turf). I don't need to go on about the freshness of the oysters juxtaposed with the cucumber granita (my favorite of the night), it tasted like a cucumber agua fresca with a salty finish. The seafood tower was a good starter mix. I still think the best ceviche is at Amar, but this came close with the creamy coconut base. The ribeye was tender ( had to get it medium well, not my favorite, in deference to my friend's condition) but it still was juicy on the inside and tender. Could have used more salt on its own but with the mashed potato side which was as creamy and thick as a polenta, it was just perfect. Now my friends shrimp cocktail was a relevation. We thought it was an ordinary from cocktails or in the glass with tomato base sauce and kind of liquidy, but it was not in the form at all! It was plated like a regular dish and yet the taste match exactly of a shrimp cocktail was very odd and exciting to be honest that they could do this with textures. Chef made us his guinea pigs since we were sitting in front of him and had us try his sorbet as well as brand new mezcal ice cream. Super refreshing on a hot day since we're sitting outside without AC and just a fan. Best seats in the house! We also got to drink with him with some mezcal and it was so smoky and rich and just smooth. Don't ask me what the name was it had accents and I can't pronounce it that well after the strong drinks here. After all that the damage was about $155 for three people which included three drinks, an appetizer, a starter course, and a steak. Was definitely not bad at all and we were pretty full. The service was outstanding though the layout was so complicated. Multiple servers checked on us even though we weren't sitting in our assigned seating. Everyone seemed happy that they were there, we got to see a birthday party with the birthday girl having the best makeup of her life. Went for an anniversary dinner, had some delicious oysters, great food, a little pricey but worth it, great ambiance as well!

Came with my friends and it was such a lovely experience! Made reservations on open table and was promptly seated when we arrived! Venus was our server and she was so attentive and very sweet! We did family style of appetizers and I forgot to take pictures of everything but all the food and drinks were really good and presentation was amazing! Loved the aguachile/filet mignon, bone marrow, and the octopus. The octopus was very tender (not rubbery at all). We also got the steak frites and it was just a good staple to have on the table. We also got the corn tamal with beets and that was good but also a very flavorful plate that was a bit too salty for me. I'm so sad I didn't take pictures of the dessert but we got the lemon sorbet -such a refreshing palette cleanser and then hazelnut gelato with chocolate something- it was so good cause it was not too sweet, everything was in good balance (warm chocolate cake with cold creamy hazelnut). We got various cocktails/drinks- bruja (sweet and refreshing), there was a noche de something that was gin based with sotal and cucumbers-- it was soooo refreshing and sooo good, oxacan old fashion (loved it cause the bitters weren't too overpowering), their cab was also very smooth and well balanced and not too much tannin We were seated outside and that was very nice. The lighting, mood, and greenery were such a nice aesthetic. Very good date spot, celebratory/event dinner, and just a good place to go with friends and family!
