We had dinner at Oak & Antler while visiting El Paso from Colorado, and let me tell you... everything was absolutely delicious and fantastic! We ordered the Steak Frites, Brussels sprouts, the burger, cocktails, and finished with the peach cobbler and every single thing was amazing. The food, the ambiance, the service, and the hospitality were all top-notch. Our server was wonderful, but what really made the experience stand out was how welcoming everyone was. The owner stopped by our table to say hello and ask how we were enjoying everything, and even brought us some shots. The chef also came out to check on us and make sure we were enjoying our meal. Those little personal touches made the experience feel so special. We were visiting from Colorado, and honestly, this was probably one of the highlights of our trip! There's just something so enjoyable about great food, good conversation, and meeting wonderful locals along the way. I had a watermelon, mint and tequila cocktail that was as advertised, "summer in a glass!" The comes a braised short rib and Oregon Pinot Noir - both to die for. Freedom does an incredible job with the food and I highly recommend you check this place out! My coworker and I stopped in for happy hour after our conference and ordered a few appetizers and drinks. Besides everything being delicious, the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, and always made sure we were taken care of. Have you ever had a restaurant so amazing while on vacation that you actually are sad you don't live there? That was Oak & Antler for me. I don't even know where to begin my review because everything was stunning. They advertise themselves as an elevated dive bar with elevated being the key word here. The atmosphere was beautiful, the long bar at the back was such a pretty focal point, live music was playing, and there were sports playing above the bar but there were also intimate tables that screamed date night. We had Jeremiah as our waiter and he made us feel welcomed and important for the go. His recommendations were spot on and we were constantly being checked on. Now to the best part- the food! My best friend and I ordered the fried chicken and it is the best I've ever had. It is crunchy, flavorful, juicy, and an extremely generous portion. I loved dipping it in the hot honey that accompanied it. The pickles included weren't my favorite but that is such a small thing and honestly just a personal preference. I was stuffed after the chicken but it was so delicious that I had to try dessert because I knew they were going to knock that out of the park. I got the peach cobbler and OMG it was perfect. I just really cant say enough nice things about this place. Im going to make a trip to El Paso from Abq solely to support them because it is so obvious that an enormous amount of love and attention have gone into crafting something so wonderful. read more

One of the best surprises of 2025 came in the form of this beautiful establishment in good ol' El Paso, TX. I lived here twenty years ago and never imagined coming back to one of the best meals I've had the pleasure to eat. Parking was easy enough to find - a spot on the street right in front of the restaurant. Upon entering, I was taken aback by the tall ceilings, taxidermy pieces, and color scheme. But the real draw was the giant framed television in the back wall and the lounge area beneath it. The kind of place you'd want to meet up with friends for really good wine or fancy cocktails. The place was like a swanky, hip hunting lodge. The staff was very friendly. I was immediately greeted upon entering the restaurant. It wasn't terribly busy when I arrived and I was seated right away. Topo Chico and a house made lavender lemonade were perfect after just finishing a run. And then there was the food. Oh my, the food. Listen, this place had me at deviled eggs and pork chops. The deviled eggs had a generous amount of filling, even had a slight little kick that was unexpected but just right. I didn't hesitate to order the pork chop. It's the whole reason I came. The server recommended it be prepared medium to which I said "yes please." I also ordered the newly added cucumbers because a refreshing little bite sounded good. So much food but so worth it. The pork chop was delicious. I mean, so flavorful and melt in your mouth tender. I didn't know I could love a pork chop more. Then there were the black eyed peas and collard greens. I love me some collards and these were perfect. The peas? I could eat them at every meal - and I don't like legumes. But these were exceptional. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. From my sweet server who provided just the right amount of attentiveness, to the chef who came out of the kitchen to check on patrons, to the owner who shared the story of Oak & Antler and how it came to be what it is today. Overall, this gem with its southernish flare was the most pleasantly unexpected find and everything you could want in a dining experience while on a work trip. Kudos. We had such a great experience at Oak and Antler! We didn't even realize they had a happy hour, so that was a fun surprise. The deviled eggs and drinks we picked were only $7 ... such a good deal and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Southern Fried Chicken with hot honey on the side, and I went with the Atlantic Cod. Both dishes were incredible ... perfectly cooked, flavorful, and definitely worth coming back for. Where does one begin? Rarely does a business who just started serving food meet the expectations. It takes months for them to get the hang of it and get a routine. That's normally. In this case oak and antler already has it. Service was A+ Food was A-. Just cause the only thing that was good but didn't blow me away was the Mac and cheese. It was good not great. But I got the Pork Chop and it was really good! I'd go back for that. We also got the peach cobbler and I really liked it. The blueberries really added to it. But two things stole the show for me. The Bacon Fat Old Fashioned and the Brussel sprouts. I'm a sucker for goat cheese and honey! They did it right! But saw someone get the fried chicken so on my next visit I'm getting that. This was a nice surprise in the downtown area near the Federal Courthouse. The restaurant is a "remake" of an older establishment, and it has been open since Nov. 2025. It is not large, but the tables are nicely spaced. The Bar is also available for dining. Very nice "Ambiance". Sort of upscale "Sports Bar-ish. We were there on a Saturday, arriving about 5:00PM, and we were seated immediately, By 6:00PM they were crowded, so we advise reservations. The food was very outstanding. All dishes were prepared as ordered perfectly and exceeded expectations. Our service was excellent from Gabe. He was newly hired, but got the entire order correct! Although this establishment is in downtown El Paso, it's about 15 minutes from "everywhere" you might be staying. Parking was no issue for us, but we were "early", so if you are a "late" diner, a parking garage will likely be for you. We do not know if the restaurant validates parking. Highly recommended!!! For the Record: we only write evaluation for "very good" or "dismal". Mediocre will take care of itself. read more

The wonderful outliers were the Brussel sprouts, beet salad, short ribs and the lavender sundress drink. The fried chicken, mac and cheese and Sandia Sol drink were also ordered. Unprompted, the chef and owner stopped by our table to check in on us. I asked the chef if the menu was seasonal and he relayed they change a few things around, but there are mainstays on the menu. A small, carefully crafted menu is my preference and Oak & Antler delivers on this. The waitress was stellar, service was prompt, and the ambiance is equivalent to a quaint, elegant, cozy NYC restaurant...in El Paso! Let that sink in. Such a fun and swanky little spot to relax with tasty cocktails in hand. Not gonna lie; I did not expect to find something like this in El Paso. But damn was it a joy to find! The Berkeley is totally my kind of vibe. The dim lighting, colorful and artsy decor, and jazzy vintage atmosphere is straight killer. Such a lovely bar to look at and I just couldn't stop looking around. And if that ain't enough, the music selection is the bomb.com and the drinks are delicious and affordably priced. Can't say that I was surprised because it was raining and also during the early work week, but I can only imagine how busy this place gets on the weekends. Some more folks eventually arrived a little bit later. I love the jazz theme and the ode to some of Jazz's most iconic legends through their portraits on the walls. Savannah was holding down the fort that evening and making all of the beautiful cocktails. She was so sweet and really fun to chat with. I had two cocktails; the Lavender Breeze and the Cucumber Rain. Both were scrumptious and very refreshing. I guess I tend to stick more to fruitier and crisp kinds of cocktails, but both of these drinks were right up my alley. They were also stunning to look at. Damn do I love me a good lookin' craft cocktail! It was happy hour while I was there, so I ended up getting a great deal on the already cheaply priced drinks. Coming from California, these drinks would be at LEAST $15 a piece. I know the cost of living is a lot less out here in Texas, but it was nice to be able to take advantage of the cheaper price tags. I loved just kickin' back and sippin' my drink whilst listening to some 90's classics and reminiscing about the good ol' days. My initial thoughts from the pictures in the wall and from other reviews was this was a jazz bar. Something El Paso desperately needs. With pictures of the Rat Pack Ray Charles is was prepared for craft cocktails and great music. The location downtown is perfect. It's really starting to grow into a cool fun area to hang out. Everything from street food to upscale restaurants and bars. The Berkeley sits on the higher side if that scale. They don't offer food but you can order from the restaurant next door. The drink menu is filled with classic cocktails and the bartender seems to know what she's doing. I can tell you that the classic old fashion. Buyer beware if you order during happy hour they use crap bourbon so let them know you want the full price version to climb out of the well. The initial drink is a bit heavy on bitters and simple syrup. But the nights early. Let's see what happens. The music... When I said above that the idea of this being a jazz bar was a mistake. They miss the mark and instead of playing Miles Davis they played what is now considered to be R&B... ish. I wouldn't say I hate the music. But if you've read any of my other reviews I'm a huge fan of theming. I wanted the timeless classics of Miles Davis or John Coltrane and instead got a bass heavy playlist that's drowned out the ambiance of the bar. So the old fashion was too sweet and they overkilled it on the bitters. Strike one The Berkley on fire also too sweet but def a more complex drink with multiple layers of taste from sweet to spicy to that smoke yum you get from mezcal. The Berkley Martini - now we hit a home run! Or at least we got a run off a loaded third base. I'm not sure but it was good. I don't like to make my reviews about the wait staff. I feel they work hard for their money but tonight the bartender didn't seem like she was on her A game. Watching her shake bitters or pour olive juice or stir these fragile drinks told the story. The martini was or would have been delicious if prepared by someone with a passion for the craft. You could taste the love that was put into the blue cheese stuffed olives and if you tried multiple and I did you'd eventually get the one that had the proper balance of "dirty" to martini. We ordered 4 no 2 tasted the same but the one that was right... it was spectacular! Ultimately The Berkeley gets 3 Stars out of 5. Better music and consistent drinks would make this place a must do when visiting downtown. Heck it could be a destination bar but right now it's good for a drink before a show or on your way to a meal. read more
