On the far west side for late Dr. appointment and was super hungry so I stopped in after to get a bite before the 40 minute drive back east. And wouldn't you k ow I just gobbled it up and forgot pictures! I had the $9.99 Homestyle chicken plate, with two sides, and a water. The issues I had with this dining experience are the same I've had my last few visits here to this location, and I'm over here somewhat frequently because of Dr. appts. I had asked for my bread to come out before my food, but bread was delayed as it was still baking. Ok fine. But when it did arrive a few minutes after my food, it wasn't hot. Barely even warm. This isn't bread that was freshly baking before coming to my table. I had also ordered water as I had meds to take before I eat. My food came out in like 5 minutes after ordering. It was like "fast food" fast. But no water. I asked again for some water. Then the bread came but no water so again I asked for my water. Still no water comes. I flag down the hostess after she seats another couple and ask if I could please get some ice water with lemon. She said she'd take care of it. Then my waiter, Mark, returns with the water. Apologizes. I'm guessing he's NEW. I didn't really recognize any of the servers working this Thursday. So I have been eating along and I always take a bite of everything when the plate comes. The chicken was pretty hot, and the gravy I asked for on it. The mashed potatoes were just a Luke warm, the gravy was hotter than the potatoes. The green beans were cold. Just cold like that had been sitting on a cold plate maybe, for a bit. But not hot, not even warm. All the food was delicious, but the wild temp ranges is typical here at This location. Nothing comes out steaming hot anymore and so many sides are cold. I've had cold carrots, cold green beans, barely warm collards, meh warm mashed potatoes. The Turkey and dressing plate they serve on Thursdays, which is a common go to for me is a stand out offering with very warm turkey, hot gravy, warm dressing and choice of another side. The food is delicious. You can't beat the flavor and taste of Cracker Barrel's homey foods it there country style homey feeling restaurant and store. But they need some consistency on their temperatures. Make them consistent and preferably HOT, no one wants cold food, especially when you're paying f these prices today plus tip. read more

Talk about customer service! Ordered the Saturday chicken special and gf ordered the chicken dumpling soup. Apparently took longer than expected, but we didn't even notice cuz we were too busy playing with the triangle table game. Manager came out and offered free soup. BUT THAT WASNT ALL. Another 10 min passed and we were in no rush. Manager came out again and comped our whole meal. There was absolutely no need, we didn't even feel like we waited that long for how busy it was. My husband's chicken tenders came out tasty, and I honestly wish I ordered what he did because the chicken and dumplings were weirdly dry. I have no clue how they make their pinto beans, but they were overdone, dry, and somehow watery??? And the little pork bits in the beans were also overdone and dry with little flavor at all. I am sorry I picked it for my side. Again, the server was very nice; however, I wouldn't really plan on coming to this Cracker Barrel again. Took the family to dinner at the Cracker Barrell off Remcon in El Paso yesterday evening. It wasn't very busy. We were seated then we were helped by an amazing server by the name of name Jesus. He was an excellent server. However the food is just so-so. The biscuits and corn bread rolls tasted like they sat under the warming light for a while. The edges were dried out. My hash brown casserole also tasted like it was under the warming lights for quite sometime. It was dry around the edges and lacking in appeal. This place was always our go-to spot. I really love coming here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is always extremely busy...I recently had an experience that may require a change in the seating process. I understand I have to wait and I will be more than glad to add my name to a waiting list, however when being seated and the customer doesn't like the table assigned, having to wait until 8 other parties of 2 get seated before my party of 2 is re-seated is WRONG! Had to find the Manager to let him know of the situation and then we got seated because the hostess was completely clueless! And yes I did take COVID into consideration before writing this review. 2: it took at least 15 Minutes for our server to arrive at our table to ask us what drinks we wanted. By that time we was ready to order. 3: server was not sure what was available on the menu. He had to make multiple trips to the kitchen to make sure. 4: Straight and to the point. Food was terrible. Biscuits was undercooked, fried chicken was way too dry, and found a piece of hair on one of the food we ordered. And yes I did take COVID into consideration and how everyone is going through some rough times. So I paid for all the food. In the other hand I think management should see about having all servers wear a hair net or something to prevent hair falling into people's food while in the process of serving. They are not fully staffed so they tell you they don't have that item but I know it's because it is something that takes longer too cook. So I'm offered similar item and when I get it looks and tastes like it's been under a warmer. The sides that we received were flavorless and tastes like it was cooked in a hurry. My husband and I were at the restaurant on Saturday, 1/25/2025 about 4:00 p.m. The restaurant was not busy. We were seated at the other end of the restaurant with no one around us. We waited but no one came to take our order. I saw an older gentleman waiter take his tray, looked around and went back to the kitchen. This Cracker Barrel has a lot of young wait staff. The typical country store is the entrance and you can get some nostalgic candies and even Christmas decorations here. The restaurant was busy but I got a table fairly quick. The meatloaf was tender and soft. I hard corn and collared greens and the dessert beignets and was able to box the meal and take the rest to go. Comfortable and homey, was the vibe. read more

I've always been a huge Fan of the company. Most of my experiences have been pleasant, with a strong air of nostalgia walking through the front of the store. The food had always been good and the service was better than standard. With a heavy heart I need to say I will not be going back to this location here in El Paso. My spouse and I visited just over a week ago for a late lunch. I won't go much into detail here but even though the food was ok, what happened later wasn't ok. We both fell sick and then spent the rest of the day working our "late lunch" through our bodies as our negative experience continued well unto the next day. Sometimes, nothing beats a good hot plate of comfort food. Full of nothing but hearty meats and all the trimmings. We havent eaten at Cracker Barrel in quite a long time surprisingly. I wanna say maybe 4 or so years! We legit could not remember if the place had mac n cheese lol. I was confident it did but obviously wasnt anything amazing that stood out in my memory. We were very relieved to see it was on the menu lol. Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak with mac n cheese, corn, and salad. I was very close to ordering their fried chicken with honey but thought the roast beef that roasted for 18 hours sounded more worth my comfort food fix. Everything was great, especially those biscuits!!! Oh man, i quickly remembered why i possibly try to steer clear of this place lol. I can eat my weight thru those dang biscuits! Then add their blackerry preserves??? Im done for! Only thing was how kinda bland everything seemed, even the roast beef. It had just enough of its natural beef flavor but nothing much else. Both the brown and white gravy we got for our meals were also rather bland. Mac n cheese was as well but that wad almost expected for most mac n cheese. Overall we were very satisfied with our meals and got a very good helping. So we left with our bellies and hearts full. But not before we took our time looking thriugh their classic store. First of all they've never disappointed me. Today they were full, as people tried to beat the fathers day rush. We went for breakfast & got a table right away. Our waitress was so sweet. She was skinny and wore glasses. What a firecracker. What impressed me the most was the Mgr, Ray, coming out introducing himself and serving food too! He worked that dining room along with his employees. For me, that's always a triple plus, because it just shows teamwork & that he didn't forget where he came from. They greeted us at the door which is something new. Everyone did a phenomenal job. My hubby got the cracker barrel bkft ( grits &all) & loved it! Put him to sleep so you it was good. Each restaurant is almost identical and the food quality and presentation is almost the same as well - good overall.The only differentiating factor is service. The service at this location was as expected. The food came out longer than ai would've liked but again, it's expected at the Barrel. AI hsd the country boy breakst, with over medium eggs and sirloin, cooked medium. The coffee cup remained filled. I asked for an extra syrup. For their 50th anniversary it came in a bottle and not a plastic container. This would've been an average 3 star review but the cashier's personality was way too lovely to resist the extra star.
