I had never been to El Paso before, and was looking for some good Texas barbecue. The hotel I was staying in had several places around but I opted for the rib Hut because it was the closest to my hotel. It was only a mile away from the hotel up a hill, so I made my way there. The A-frame building has very limited parking, but I was lucky to find a spot right out front. I would imagine on a Friday or Saturday night it gets kind of crazy, so you're going to want to get here early. I walked in and was told to sit wherever I would like, so I grabbed a table so I could take a look around and see what I was getting myself into. The place had a nice charm to it, it felt more like an old Tavern than a rib joint. Lots of bent seating and plenty of tables all around the facility. Waiter came up. Got my drink order and brought it back within moments. I had also asked for a water, but that never arrived. I decided to go for the rib Hut combo which was one beef rib, two spare ribs and three baby back ribs. They came out to the table pretty quick. I also ordered fries and onion rings, since you can't really have barbecue without fries and onion rings. Dish of barbecue sauce..... Vinegar-based, which is perfect for the area. The beef rib was definitely the star of the show. Had a great char on it, super moist, and very flavorful. Flavorful. Addition of the barbecue sauce definitely helps, and that was gone in moments. Honestly, the baby backs were not that good. They were pretty overcooked and had very little meat on them. The spare rib was pretty tasty, had plenty of meat and was incredibly flavorful. Was this the best barbecue I have ever had? No. But it was darn good, and I cleaned my plate. I definitely think they could step up their service a little bit, my waiter only came by to check on me once, I had run out of ice in my iced tea early on and he never came by to replace it. After I was done, I was sitting and waiting for my bill for probably an easy 10 minutes or so. The place wasn't super busy, but I'm a pretty forgiving person. Bottom line? If this place stepped up on their service it would be a five all the way around. I would just sell the kitchen to take a little more care with the ribs as they definitely were overcooked. read more

I had high hopes for this place. I really wanted it to be good so I could return. It was "eh" nothing to brag home about. The brisket was not juicy, tender, or flavorful. Unfortunately, everyone else in our party of 5 had the same experience. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We don't eat very much meat, but every once in a while, we crave it. We came here for dinner and as usual as staff is quite nice and friendly. We ordered the special three meets with two sides to share between two people. The potato and beans were excellent as always, the turkey was tender and delicious. I'm a fan of the baby back ribs, but this time they were very tough and so was the beef rib. I guess you can't have them all. I would still go back here, but possibly just ask about the meats before hand. They are usually falling off the bone tender. There was a big group but the noise level was reasonable. Reasonable price. read more

The service is an "F." The waitress (Elsy) never offered refills, she got two orders wrong and we never saw her come back and do her job. AVOID RIB HUT ON KERN PLACE. The service is mediocre and they still expect 20% tips. This place receives an "F" for failure. read more

Wow, the last two times I've gone and to the both east and Mesa now, standards have plummeted. I'm gap-mouth shocked. I don't know if there has been new management in place or they are spread too thin opening the 3rd location but this has been substandard and not only in Presentation but even taste quality. Even service has been an issue at both locations recently. ‍SMH. People ask me where to go for the best BBQ, for over 10 or more years I've said Rib Hut if you like real Central Texas style, and the best tasting sauce. The sauce is still hittin'. But much has taken a fall. I'm posting two new pictures, one from 2023 and one from today. Same order. Small combo, 2 meats, chicken white meat and spare ribs with corn on the cob. One plate has a bright yellow whole corn on the cob with butter, and skewers so you don't have to get your fingers all corny. Two beautiful glistening spare ribs and a spilt smoked chicken breast still juicy. You just want to DIVE IN! To day I got a half corn cob, stick in a bowl with some butter in the bottom. Way over cooked, no plump kernels, no skewers and when asked for was told they don't have them. Ribs look dry, no shine, now they are presented on their side but even turned they lacked enough of that honey glaze. The chicken? Well it came as a whole breast, not choir in half. The skin was practically all removed it was dry, it was mealy it didn't even have a smokey flavor, in fact It had no flavor at all. There was no signature pink near the bone, a "smoke ring" if you will, that you normally see in chicken when smoked. This just tastes like ... water for lack of a better term. It had to have the sauce to pic it UP! I did not eat much and brought it home for the dogs. And I love bbq chicken. for me not to eat it, says something even to me. This is the Mesa location so of course it's all about the nostalgia in here and they got newer daisy-dukes curtains! Please, please figure it out guys, I know after so many years it's hard to constantly maintain a high level of consistency in labor and kitchen personnel and food quality. It's hard to keep up in the world today with Apple box turnover on the labor side and inflation on the product side. I'm rooting for you to WIN the battle in the end! And this is STILL the best BBQ in El Paso. read more

I love this restaurant. Food is delicious, I love their ribs or smoked chicken. On Saturdays, they have the brisket burrito on special for only $2 and sometimes I'll order the root beer float in a nice frosty mug to go with it. They also have special on ribs on Mondays and Wednesdays. Service is always great and nice cozy dining area as well. read more

Service was good, felt like I was rushed to pay while I was still eating but the waitress seemed new so I didn't let it get to me. Ambiance was really nice. It gives that old town back in the day feeling. Food was delicious as always. It's the best place to get ribs in El Paso imo. Better than all the bbq restaurants around. I checked out rib hut after being recommended by some of my El Paso based coworkers and overall it was good. They do a really good job of barbecuing I will say for sure, I definitely prefer a more moist rib but I could go there and eat again. The prices were really good and there was several items on the menu that I just wanted to try based off the description. The service was great, I love that they had TVs inside and from the outside of the building I didn't realize how much room was in there. All the staff were friendly. I would say to go check it out for sure! read more

This is the spot for Texas BBQ! We were recommended here from a local for a place to get local fare. We always like to try places that are family owned and operated or a small business instead of a chain restaurant when we visit new places. We were greeted promptly by Adriana and were seated quickly. Angel, our server, was helpful and attentive. When we were getting ready to pay we spoke with Adriana about the food (which was amazing!) and she informed us that everything is made in house and you can definitely tell! I ordered the miner potato- Yum! My husband ordered the brisket and the beef rib, with Mac and cheese and coleslaw. There is something for everyone on their menu and the pricing is good for what you get. read more

It is very difficult to find a restaurant that offers beef ribs. They are larger and more difficult to prepare and their flavor is not as mild as pork ribs, beef ribs are not as tender as pork ribs either. In the past 30 years I have probably had beef ribs only one other time. If you have never had them I recommend you give them a try at least once just to say that you have had them and to see if you really like them. I like them. The Rib Hut prepares them about as well as they can be prepared. The bark on them is thick (but not hard) and tasty. I had the potato salad. I won't be getting them again. There was nothing wrong with them, I just thought it was plane and bland and they have better sides. The pinto beans were amazing. The best I have ever had. Piping hot and seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of spicy kick. I will be getting those again! The roll was fresh and delicious and a little sweet. I liked it. The service was friendly and fast. I was greeted immediately on entering and the wait staff was fast, friendly and quick to get me everything I asked for. The restaurant itself is small and quaint and clean. I recommend the Rib Hut and will be going back again myself. read more

Stay away from the burgers Their meat patties are rubbery and definitely - not fresh. While waiting for it to be time to go to the El Paso Airport, being in Texas, my friend and I knew we had to have some BBQ, and found Rib Hut. The inside was very casual and small, but in the good way, and what you'd think of being in a BBQ restaurant. I was a bit disappointed with the food. I ordered the Combo Platter, which came with sausage, turkey, and I chose brisket as my meat add on. My two sides were fries and ranch beans. For the sides, I enjoyed my fries. Nothing special, but they were good. I wish the beans were baked beans versus ranch beans as they didn't have much as much flavor as I had hoped. For the platter, the brisket was my favorite dipped into the BBQ sauce. Without the sauce, the brisket was on the bland side. The turkey was the best seasoned and juicy. Some sausage pieces were good, but other pieces were too charred for my liking. read more

Driving through El Paso on a roadtrip and stumbled on this cute place. One of the few bbq places that are open past 3pm around downtown. Beware finding parking here is really hard as there are only about 20 spots, don't park at the Thai Tara spots. It has a cute homey unique vibe to place, sports playing on multiple TVs, and the servers were all super nice. Got the following dishes: 1)full brisket platter - about 1lbs of brisket, nice amount for the price ~$20, juicy, flavor was crisp but could use some salt 2) spare ribs- probably my favorite dish, could use more seasoning to it but had good amount of meat 3) beef ribs- my least favorite dish, it had a very strong charcoaled flavored, the big bone itself is deceiving with little meet on it With a couple beers all came to around $58 which was a better bang for its buck than we had at a different BBQ place in town read more

Rib Hut - Beef Rib Platters - Barbeque Near Me - El Paso, Texas

Rib Hut in El Paso is the kind of place that makes you question what you've been doing with your life if you've never had their beef ribs. These aren't just ribs--they're an institution. Thick, tender, and lacquered with a barbecue sauce that could inspire sonnets, they might just be the best beef ribs in America. Yes, I said it, and I'll say it again. The best. The side dishes don't play second fiddle either. Their mac 'n cheese is rich and indulgent, and the fried mushrooms? An unexpected delight that adds a perfectly crunchy contrast to the smoky goodness of the ribs. The Saturday brisket burritos are another must-try--soft, flavorful, and so good they'll leave you questioning why you don't visit more often. Housed in the historic Village Inn Pizza A-Frame chalet, the setting adds a layer of nostalgia to the meal. There's something charmingly old-school about it, a reminder of when places like this were the heart of the community. But fair warning--Rib Hut gets busy, especially during peak hours, so plan accordingly. If you leave El Paso without trying this BBQ institution, well, you've done something wrong. read more

This was our first time here. We were in town and found this place on Yelp. It wasn't that far from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. Just so you know, this place has 2 private lots and the parking is very tight. One of the lots, they share with another restaurant that is right next door. And there is no outlet. So you have to have good driving skills to get in and out of the parking lot. Entered the restaurant and was greeted by friendly staff members. We were seated right away, since there were open seats. The restaurant looks like it can get busy, so I'm glad we got there at a good time. Rueben, who is the manager of the place, explained what the menu had to offer. He gave us a warm welcome since it was our first time there. We started off with drinks and some chips and salsa. The salsa was a little on the spicy side, but nothing my family and I couldn't handle. Just makes it tastier. We also saw jalapeno poppers on the menu and decided to get those too. It's hard to find poppers where we come from. We looked over the menu a little bit more and decided to get the rib hut sampler platter. Served with 1 beef rib, 2 baby back ribs & 2 spare ribs. We got 2 loaded baked potatoes to go with that rib platter. My kid tried the beef rib platter. The portions are huge here. Thankfully we were able to finish what we ordered, because we did see a lot of people take home boxes of food home with them. All in all we were completely satisfied with the service with the food. It definitely filled us up. We thank you for such great service and good food. We will keep this place in mind for the next time we visit El Paso again. read more

In town for business and stopped here for a quick dinner. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant and our service was also good. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster. I ordered the sampler platter and, while the meat was flavorful, it was tough, full of gristle, and very difficult to enjoy. I had potato salad and the vegetable of the day (green beans) for my sides, both were severely lacking in seasoning and had no flavor at all. The place seems to be popular so maybe they just had an off day, I'd give them another chance based on the other reviews that led us here to begin with. I will say the portion sizes for the price was a great value, especially for the brisket which my colleague seemed to enjoy and had a ton leftover. read more

Guys, this used be the go-to place. It has really fallen off lately. Forgotten toppings, missing sides, no BBQ sauce?! The brisket is longer tender and juicy. Spuds have been undercooked. It's no longer the top dog in EP. It pains me to write this review but I've given it multiple chances and each time, something's off. I feel like I've wasted money. I'm sorry Rib Hut, but whatever you guys changed in the recent months, you've got to go back. read more

10/10! asked the server what was good and he said everything and he wasn't lying! the beef ribs were delicious!

I'm having trouble deciding on how to review this place. My wife & I wanted to love it, but (at best) it's a like. My wife enjoyed her baby back ribs, but they weren't as tender & flavorful as she hoped. No smoke aroma or flavor. I tried the turkey & brisket combo for something different. The turkey was dry & flavorless. The brisket was tender, but was also a bit flavorless. Neither meat smelled or tasted of smoke. Their BBQ sauce helped with that regard, but seems a bit salty. The sides were the stars - the steak fries were fantastic as was the cole slaw (which has pineapple tidbits in it.) We also ordered a couple of mixed berry cobblers to take with us. It turned out that they were cherry and just seem to be dump cake. One side of my piece of cobbler seemed to have some BBQ rub on it and had to be tossed. The service was very good. I'm willing to try them again, but I'll probably just get a burger - with steak fries because wow - those are fantastic. read more

It has a bad smell and the food was as good as it looked on the menu and very tasteless and needs more seasoning.

The Rib Hut is an old looking building and just as old looking on the inside, but it serves great food that is definitely not old. I've tried sandwiches, burgers and of course the BBQ. The smoky flavor is excellent and the brisket was as juicy and tender as I've ever had. The portions are pretty large and really enough for two people. I have taken extras home each time. The appetizers are a full meal alone. Everytime except this last time they have cooked my burger a perfect medium. Not sure what happened this last time, but it still had a good taste. A great selection of beer including some great Texas craft beers. The servers are always friendly, helpful and efficient. Give this local establishment a try. You will enjoy it. read more

The ambience is charming (a rustic A-frame BBQ joint) and the service was excellent. But I didn't love ANY of my food. The ribs were okay but came with that thick lacquered crust that I just find unpleasant to chew through. I'd rather just taste a spice rub and smoke. The sausage was good but unremarkable. The mac n' cheese was also okay - the sauce tasted like a box (dehydrated cheese + milk.) My favorite thing was actually the side salad. There was unfortunately nothing I would go back to eat again. I think this is decent BBQ if you are looking for volume and great service. I could have gotten two meals out of my "small combo" (2 item) plate. Unfortunately none of it was so good that I really wanted to eat the leftovers. One star for atmosphere. Two stars for great and friendly service. Unfortunately I can't say anything but meh about the food. :( read more

Needed a lunch near the campus. Rib Hut is the lucky winner. The inside is a little too dark for me, but this is a minor gripe. Ordered the sausage bites as an appetizer and they were delicious (great bbq sauce). Time to order. I ordered fried catfish which came with two sides. Wanted the coleslaw BUT there's has pineapple. Yuck. Got green beans instead. And they were excellent with lots of bacon. The catfish itself was also excellent. My wife ordered the ribeye steak and while she loved it, I had a bite and thought it was very fatty. Overall, the food was very good. My biggest complaint about the visit was the fact that my wife's plate had two large chips in it. This is potentially very dangerous. They were large enough that it was impossible to miss them. Yet, the business decided to serve on that plate anyways. Parking is awful. Prices were higher than i expected. $55 and we didn't even order alcohol. Will we come back? Sure, but Rib Hut will not become a regular hangout. read more

When you go to a place called "Rib Hut" you obviously need to order the ribs. They were pretty good! I'd skip on the brisket personally. No smoke rings on the brisket, kinda dry, and a bit tough to eat. I like my brisket with smoke rings, juicy, and smokey....mmmmm :) But the ribs - the ribs are a for sure go to! We ordered family style. - BBQ Mixer - Beef Rib Platter - Brisket Platter That was enough to feed 4 people and we still went home with some leftovers.
