I really enjoyed this place! This is maybe 2-3 min from the double tree hotel and it's a cozy little gem tucked on the corner! Walked in about 9 pm on a Saturday (closing time is 11) sat down at the bar and ordered a margarita and asked for chips and salsa. After about 5 minutes placed my dinner order and no chips and salsa yet. 10 minutes go by and I ask another worker about getting some chips and salsa and she disappears and whispers to get another worker that they have no chips and she disappears. My food comes out and the original bartender asks how everything is and I mention he never brought me chips and salsa. He says it's his fault and after I mention that I asked another worker he fesses up that they have no chips. So in short what Mexican restaurant has no chips with 3 hours to close? I went there last year and the food was so bland. No flavor, not even the salsa. I had the enchiladas with tacos and my wife had enchiladas. We were both so fucking disappointed especially for our food. This food wasn't worth the price. So I recently decided to give ir another chance. I went with coworkers to eat there. I had your version of chicos tacos, you call them tacos ahogaldas. They were tasty but not grear , plus they gave me the damn runs and a stomach ache! What the hell! I never get the runs at Chicos Tacos but I do with yoir tacos! I don't know what ingredients y'all use but I'm never going back there again. Not worth it for me, not even the damn prices! Was doing a show in El Paso and Barrio was around the corner from my hotel. Walked in and immediately liked the place and they had good music playing. Rock-n-roll !! Sat and had a couple great skinny Margaritas. Finally decided to order food. I was impressed with the variety of options. I ended up getting the Flautas Ahogodos. Not something you see on many menus. Recently, I took a visit here after a graduation. About 8 of us in total went for dinner spur-of-the-moment. Despite the short notice, we were seated immediately with no others seated around us. It made for a very enjoyable, calm meal without intrusion from loud customers. They quickly brought over a plate of tortilla chips with house-made salsa which wasn't too spicy or salty. Always a huge fan of complimentary chips and salsa! For dinner, I ordered the green enchiladas with shredded chicken which were $20 for 3 enchiladas with a mildly spicy sauce, rice, and a cup of elote with cotija cheese. It was delicious and very filling! Felt quite authentic with a creamy and spicy sauce poured over the enchiladas. Very good, no complaints whatsoever. The ambiance was decent, bar vibes with multiple flat screen TVs posted up on the walls and a bar further back in the restaurant. The waiter George was friendly and accommodating, bringing us extra plates and chips and salsa without any semblance of annoyance. The waiter did forget to add bacon to one of the burgers we ordered, which was really the only issue we had. Overall, however, the service was wonderful and the waiter was warm and joking with us throughout our meal. Definitely check this place out if you want a great bite to eat or want some place to chill while watching the game. I've also heard they have bottomless mimosas for brunch, so I'll definitely be back to cause some mayhem. read more

Stopped here on our way home based on fact they serve fideo soup. my wife loves it. After we found parking on the street we came in. Nice decor and ambiance was cool. We got of course fideo soup, flautas and the Mexican plater. Food was really good, the Chile relleno was different in a good way, I'm going to try it at home. I got the Tacos Al Pastor to go. It was a ton of food - 5 corn tortillas with a load of pork, grilled onions, and a side of cilantro, roasted chili, and hot sauce (hot!hot!). The only thing was the pork was a little dry. It was diced with a lot of sauce/rub on it, but still rather dry. Still, it was worth the price and could easily be shared by 2 people. read more

First time trying this restaurant with my family a few weeks ago. My husband chose this spot so I wasn't sure what to expect going into our visit. I got the shrimp tacos and they were pretty solid. Shrimp were on the smaller side and not the freshest I've had (I don't really expect that seeing as we are in the desert lol) but they were well seasoned and everything tasted good. Had a very successful visit during Brunch at Barrio. The place was clean, had great music, and very welcoming. We went during Brunch hours and they served complimentary pastries that were so delicious. I had a Mexican Coffee with Cream. We were craving Fajitas but they did not have them on their Brunch menu but our waiter was super cool and pulled some strings and made it happen for us! The Chicken and Beef Fajitas were amazing. Excellent food and friendly staff. I came here for lunch while in town for a conference and it did not disappoint. I will say that it's probably a better choice for dinner than lunch, as it's the same menu and prices are high for lunch. With that said, I enjoyed myself. I ordered a half house salad and an iced tea. While I was waiting, my server brought me homemade tortilla chips and some very delicious (but spicy) green salsa with chopped jalapeños. My salad came pretty quickly, was delicious, and just the right size. It filled me up for lunch and I was glad I didn't order the full size. Great place for a date night or even a nice brunch. The ambiance inside is chill and it's probably odd, but I enjoyed the utensils. The food we ordered came out super fast. We started out with drinks. My wife ordered the lavender gin martini and I went with the Dragon Fruit Rita. Both were excellent, especially the Dragon Rita. Not too strong, but tasty. The red enchiladas were super flavorful with a hint of spice at the end. Perfectly melted cheese, mixed in with corn tortillas and soft beef really made it an awesome dish. This is our fist place here and this location is amazing. We had some delicious drinks and food. The service was great our waiter was amazing she was fun. I had the strawberry sprite which was nice and delicious sweet and refreshing. I also had the barbacoa which was a great size that can be share among 3 people it was so good and no fat which was nice. They make this hot sauce and it was spicy but good. Overall we had a great experience and food I highly recommend this place if you come to El Paso. Oh and one more thing they serve pan dulce for brunch as the bread which was amazing and bright back memories. read more

I was in El Paso for work, and after a long day of facilitating presentations, I was in the mood for some good Mexican food. Also, it had to be on the way to the hotel. We found Barrio, the menu looked good, and it was on the way to the DoubleTree. The first thing that caught my attention was the water carafe. They were all different and made the table look classy. The Barbacoa caught my attention. In California, it is challenging to find Barbacoa Norteña. The plate is served with rice, beans, tortillas, onions, cilantro, and delicious salsa. I also ordered a cup of Sopa de Fideo. You would think that after all that food I would be full, but wrong! I had enough room for dessert. We ordered Churros with strawberry and pecan ice cream and pecan pieces. DELICIOUS! It was so wonderful that I went back the next day and ordered the same thing. My friend ordered the Mole, which I tried, and it was so yummy! This is another place to return to on my next trip to El Paso! read more

We enjoyed eating at Barrio Eats in downtown El Paso. The inside was very nicely decorated and looks pretty newly designed. The service was friendly and the food was okay. The complimentary salsa was clearly fresh and spicy. The tacos we got were fresh and warm. The fresas con crema dessert was probably my favorite menu item. I did feel the prices were a bit high. I think I paid $18 for three tacos but no sides at all. That was a bit surprising. At our,"barrio" locations, we usually get rice and beans for less overall. And while the food was fresh there wasn't really anything different or unique on the menu to me. My favorite parts of this experience was their attention to detail. The water comes in a nice, crystal decanter. The furnishings are new and contemporary and the silverware was great- rustic high-class in my view. read more
