It is in an industrial part of town Try the Fideo soup it was amazing Service with a smile and great attitude very few customers on a Friday wonder if it because of the Worst chips and salsa I have ever had in a restaurant Ambiance is weird not as mexican as I had hoped Tons of parking Ordered the shredded beef flautas recommended by waitress don't order no taste minimal spice Place is very clean Don't know why it was rated this high on yelp had high hopes but not impressed

This place is simple but full of culture and some not so common Mexican dishes like nopalitos and chile pasado. Went there today and caught the last of their special dia de muertos menu. The mole coloradito had the right balance of sweetness and spiciness, just how I like it and the tamal oaxaqueño in the banana leaf was nice and fluffy. Would go back to try the other items on the menu. Their prices are very reasonable except for their special menu offerings. Had a long wait because there was a UTEP group and lots of people.

Best place to get breakfast, sadly only served on Saturday! Everything is delicious, fresh, and affordable. Plenty of vegetarian options!

Complimentary chips & salsa. Agua de Jamaica was too sweet for me.

Years ago, the cafe's food offerings were served in a cafeteria-style food court setting. These days, friendly wait staff tends to all your needs, presenting you first with a complimentary basket of thick, freshly fried tortilla chips & a roasted jalapeno salsa with a subtle kick. They have authentic & mostly healthy Mexican food & plenty of vegetarian & vegan options. Their menu items consist of appetizers, soups, salads, enchiladas, flair as, a few entrees, & tacos & burritos with your choice of guisados. I'm not a fan of cactus, but I decided to try the nopalitos en chile Colorado. They were the best I've ever had & totally made me a fan. They had a nice tender texture & weren't slimy. They're served w/steamed corn tortillas & your choice of side. I chose the vegetable consommé & added black beans. The soup looked boring but was actually very flavorful & unique. They offer daily specials w/items you won't find anywhere else like enfrijoladas, tlacoyos & more! Only problem is they usually run out. During the fall, they serve the seasonal coveted national dish of Mexico, chile en nogada. They even offer a veg version w/chipotle mushrooms that's amazing! Only thing I didn't really like was their agua de Jamaica. It was too sweet for me. I also dislike that they close at 3 pm. Other than that you NEED to check this place out!

Nopal relleno with asadero and mushrooms

Lots of vegetarian options here! And just good old traditional Mexican food! I ordered the sopa Azteca to start, and the broth was thick and spicy. They were generous with the avocado, too! The nopal relleno had plenty of mushrooms and asadero. The flavor was smoky perfection. Best of all was the service: I was greeted promptly. The waitress helped me with some recommendations. She checked on me once or twice, but not too much. It was a great experience all around. I will be back soon! Update: I've tried a number of menu items since my last review. The red enchiladas have become my favorite. The red sauce is perfect and not too hot. I also think they have the best rice in town. The chips and salsa to start the meal do not disappoint: the chips are thick and crispy and the salsa always has a good kick to it. As always, the service is exceptional and the servers remember you and your usual order.

Most authentic Mexican food you can find anywhere but Mexico. The tortilla soup is probably one of the bast things I've ever had in my life. You can tell that everything is super fresh and local especially their quesadillas which they make in house every morning. From the big jugs filled with horchata and hibiscus tea to the best enchiladas ever there's really nothing there that isn't made with love and therefore incredible. When you're there you can imminently feel the amazing presence of the community, friendly staff, and years of tradition. It's hard to not fall in love with the food and everything that Café Mayapan has to offer.

Good food. We ordered the enchiladas green and chicken tacos. Tacos were really good, i would definitely recommend! It was pretty busy while we were there so the service could have been better.

Not sure if they're going to be friends after this because that was a pretty traumatic movie, about women backstabbing one another. Lol But I have a feeling we'll be back again because the little cafe where we went to screen the movie is so cute. They have been open for approximately 18 weeks and are planning on getting their alcohol license so they could have more events there. I won't lie. Parking is tough but there are free open lots and street meter parking available if you search, especially at the city hall lot after 6 pm. It's a quirky little deli and it's run by a native El Pasoan and New York transplant. There's history here as my friend kept comparing it to the theater that closed down, Fellini Film Café. The food was housemade and delicious, the Cafe De Olla was delicious on its own without cream or sugar, the egg cream soda was legit and the service was outstanding. Best of all they have a lot of vegan options, so I can take some good friends and they wouldn't feel left out. The egg cream soda can be subbed with coconut cream and the vegan chocolate chip cookie was just as decadent as the real deal. They'll be hosting a lot more events like poetry slams, kids' movies, book club movie screenings, and even a music video premiere for a famous local band! Stop by and check them out, we need more cozy spots that offer food and entertainment without having to dress up as you can see, I looked crazy since I'm trying to adjust back from HST to MST. When I paid, I noticed the price charged was higher than the menu price and asked about it politely. They told me it was taxes. I pointed out in response that the tax was in the next separate line under the fee for the item and their response felt like an episode from American dad: When Roger is buying a video camera at best buy. He asks the sales person: "What is the difference between digital and optical zoom" Sales person answers: "nothing. They are the same" " Roger: "but the box says they're different " Sales person: "oh you're right. Well let me know if you have any other questions" I also ordered my mollete dairy free and egg free and it came out it had a white spread ( butter or mayo?) under the beans. It was disappointing after I reminded the person who took my order and it felt they were dismissive. The atmosphere was nice, I like that they serve lard free beans and the food was pretty good but I would not come back here. Which were good (lacked a little crisp but had good flavor). The green salsa at the table was fantastic, a little slice but a ton of flavor. Everything was fresh, the chips were freshly baked, the rice was not day old rice like at so many places around here it was good and actually had some flavor, the beans were good (the bright orange color of the beans surprised me, turmeric? Regardless they were delicious). Unfortunately the meat had zero spices, not even salt. The only reason not taking off a star is the salsa paired perfectly with the shredded beef tacos and the green chili burger, but a little bit of salt would have elevated the meal for sure. There was no salt on the meat in any of the meals we'd ordered. The coffee was good and strong, the mugs weren't tiny little mugs they actually gave you enough coffee to enjoy and the experience over all was wonderful. My mom spoke Spanish, I border on no sabo, pero intendo and my kids speak no Spanish at all, the menu was all Spanish but the waitress was patient and sweet with every order.
