Frankie's is consistently good. with a wide variety of food, but the best is it's Mexican food. There's generally a way to get in depending on what time you get there. They close early, so don't plan a late night. My favorite are their shredded beef tacos. they're full of meat and delicious. But all their food is good. Recently, I had their chicken fried steak and it was awesome. I recommend you going there for breakfast lunch or dinner. They do have a lunch special, but I believe it ends at 4 o'clock. The food was better this time around, but their Franky's version of Arnold Palmer was awful, Literally watered down tea with a lemon on top (and by that I mean you'd only know it had tea in it because of the color). For the almost $4 for the drink, it was a waste of money. We had 3 or 4 different people try to take our drink order, and just like last time, we were seated by the bathroom hallway. Best Huevos Rancheros we have found besides Homemade. The sauce has good heat and flavor.

Went in during lunch and it took more than twenty minutes to get our order in. We had to get the attention of what I believe was the owner to have a server come to the table. The server attended to us once, as she was also the cashier. Apparently, the owner cannot work the front, as she told us when she apologized to us for the inconvenience. On top of it, the servers can act rude depending who waits on you. The food took another thirty minutes as there was "a backup" of orders in the kitchen. Ordered a Franky's Medium Combination Plate which included a taco, red enchilada, chile relleno, rice and beans. It was ok. Down the street of McRae is Gabriel's which has better Mexican food and a more organized infrastructure. read more

Update! Food is still amazing. Inflation has hit, a is reflected in increases across the menu. The website hasn't even been updated as if this posting with the new prices. Every food item is up by $1.50-$2 or so. So my $15 lunch in the past cost me more like $20 today. Plus tip. Service was quick and efficient, they wore masks and sanitized tables and hands frequently. Some nice old jazz and big band music from the 40's playing, light conversation at the tables around me, nothing very loud or boisterous. A nice Tuesday lunch hour spot. They have daily lunch specials of tacos or enchiladas for $7.99, that's also an increase from the website price. But these mom and pops gotta do what they gotta do to stay open. Always go to Franky's when I'm in El Paso. Good food at a decent price. Typical wait length as they make it to order. The space is a small family run restaurant in a strip mall off a very busy thoroughfare close to the airport and Ft. Bliss. I always get the rellenos but the menudo looked delicious so will need to order next time! Just wish the tortillas were fresh made. read more

Went here recently for lunch, and was happy to discover another "hidden" El Paso gem. Like many other awesome restaurants, it's not all that fancy on the outside, and would be easy to pass up if you weren't going there specifically. Very friendly staff, very old school decor and vibe. I had the Franky's Medium combo which was a cheese enchilada, taco, chile relleno, and rice & beans. It wasn't the best I've had in my life, but it was really good. Everything else about the restaurant, plus really great Mexican food made me give it five stars. read more

Excellent covid precautions & and wonderful food! The huevos rancheros were very savory. I had mine over easy and there was even a corn tortilla layer at the bottom. I enjoyed the plate with beans and hash browns. Tables were separated with enough room to maintain distancing and the staff all wore their masks properly. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a friendly atmosphere. The service was decent but we did go during lunch time. Prices were reasonable around$8-10 a plate. We ordered the special red enchiladas. Caldo de res, menudo, shredded beef gorditas and chicken flautas. The food was served warmed. The flavors were very tasteful. Good Food if you can tolerate their rudeness can't really complain about the food but the service lacks I thought it was just me on one occasion but we continue to get lousy service. We had a great lunch here while visiting family. Cozy breakfast/lunch spot with a hearty meal after hiking in Huecos Tanks. I had the special - 3 cheese enchiladas with red chile ,(7.99!) and a cup of caldo de res. Both were excellent! My husband had to huevos rancheros and he said they were very good. After months of driving by Franky's and seeing the large parking lot almost full and often times a line out the door-I knew this place was me. Finally, the stars aligned and I was able to indulge in the best tasting breakfast I've had in El Paso! Soooo good!! The service was equally as good. Sylvia greeted everyone at the door just as if you were dear friends and she was welcoming you into her home. Rachel & Hilda were fantastic servers, as well. Dining at Franky's restaurant was reminiscent of that time you had dinner at your friend's mom house, when you were 13. The atmosphere is very early 90's chic; all the way from the glass square chandeliers to the family/patriotic wall decor. Looks aside, the food was good. I had the oddly categorized "medium" plate which came with a super tasty taco, not too shabby cheese enchilada, a greasy chile relleno, rice, and beans. I asked for a flour tortilla to accompany my dish. That tortilla was loco en la cabeza delicious ese-- authentic, fresh, flour-y, warm, and soft. When the bill came, there was no option for sopapillas (nor were we asked if we wanted a sweet snacker) but thats all good homie. Overall, I gotta say... As a native El Pasoan, this has been my favorite Mexican restaurant. Over the last few years the service has declined, but I'd continued to go. When my out of town family members come into town we'd go, they would combine tables, and the slow service was overlooked, as we would visit and enjoy good food. Well today was my last attempt going there. Had family in town, and that was where we were going to have early dinner at 4:30 as they said they were closing at 6:30, when we called to ask earlier in day. When we got there only 3 people at one table in entire restaurant. They refused to seat us together, we offered to put 2 tables together, they said no. We left. I will never go there again, since they don't want our service. read more
