I discovered El Cometa in 2019 through a friend, and it quickly became one of my favorite places to eat whenever I am in El Paso. Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite. The fact that she has been there since I first started coming in 2019 makes every visit feel like coming home. From 2019 until I moved away in 2022, I went there almost every week. To eat here, everyone lines up at the cashier to place an order, but somehow I always felt like royalty. The staff knew me, and every visit felt welcoming. El Cometa never disappoints. Quick pit stop in El Paso for Mexican food. Very casual ambiance you order first and they bring the food to your table. While you wait you can go to the salsa bar which has a good variety. I'm always a sucker for green sauce and both green sauce were my favorites one mild one a little spicy. Service was quick. Food was decent. First and second menu items were our choices. The tacos al pastor were great, decent amount of meat on the tacos and flavorful. Flautas are more like taquitos very crunchy on the outside and the meat was tender. Price is affordable. read more

Service was ok. It's mostly self serve Ambiance isn't much. The food, IMO these are the best flautas in El Paso. I only frequent this location so I can't speak for the other locations. They have the best sauces and salsa bar I have ever been to. I definitely recommend this place. I place it at the top of the list of El Paso just try restaurants. Simple for done well. I bought steak tacos, they didn't taste good, they had way too much grease. I'll never go back there, I even got a stomach ache.

Food was good as always but be very careful when tipping at the register. I never really tip there as all they are doing is charging. I always tip the waiter/waitress. However, this was the first time since the girl seemed very nice. I tipped $2.00. I just looked at my receipt and saw a $5.00 charge. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN PAYING WITH A CARD!! Not the first time this happens when tipping. Always review your receipts and bank statements in all restaurants. This gives the establishment a bad reputation because of the unfaithful workers. My kids had the chicken flautas, my husband had the burrita and I had the alambre con queso! It was all soooooo amazing! The favor was 10/10. The salsa bar is stocked and cleaned frequently. We stopped here on our way to the airport after visiting the area, and the food is good. Prices on the food are decent, but drinks are a bit high for no refills with mostly ice. The menu selection is not big, and I saw many people order flautas, but we stuck with tacos Al pastor. The salsa bar has everything you can want. They bring you a basket of chips, and you get your salsa. I highly recommend the avocado salsa. Back to the tacos. We are not from Texas, so we had no idea you have to assemble your own tacos. They bring you a plate of the meat you ordered, which is a big portion and then give you six tortillas, and yes, you do get six full tacos out of the meat! It is a lot of food for a really good price! You order at the counter, but a waitress brings you everything, the chips, drinks, and your food. You get your own salsas though. If you need anything else, flag down a waitress, and they will get it for you. It was a different experience for us, and we would come back if ever in El Paso. read more

Juarez, Mexico and they franchised to El Paso. The restaurant is located in a large strip mall area where there is plenty of parking. You walk in and place your order and pay. You take your table and go get your hot sauce, chips and other Mexican additions to make your tacos A+. The server brings you the food and its time to get down (Insert the song Jungle Boogie by Kool and the Gang as I take the first bite). It was wife and I getting our grub on again. She enjoyed the beef flautas with Mexican crema and queso fresco not US sour cream. The taco meat was seasoned to perfection and I stuffed that quesadilla down my big mouth come hell or high-water. Wow. This place blew me away. The flautas were packed! The amount of cheese and crema they put on these things is unholy. We also got the al pastor con queso fundido plate and that was extremely delicious. I wish they gave you more tortillas because the meat portions were just right. The restaurant was busy, but the service was still good. They have a salsa bar like most places in the area that serve tacos and it had good salsa. We are loyal customers since we used to live in Juarez, last night we went to cometa on meda an were greeted by a very rude black security guard who demanded to search my wife's purse and proceeded to try to patch me down as I told him no because I don't Want unsolicited and useless physical contact he began to be more rude I asked for a manager and he grabbed his shirt showing me his company logo and daring me to call them if I had a problem, I asked the cashier for a manager she ignored us then told us she doesn't have a manager and laughed at us, I can expect this from a bar or club but a flautas place on the west side? if you are going to have security make shure they are there to help not to start problems with their power trip and entliment, make sure to have a Mexican security guard that can work with the crowd you have, this male black young man seem to be racist towards Hispanics , thinking of going to BBB on Monday to get this sorted out. read more

Nice local joint serving authentic Mexican fare. The restaurant was clean & spacious w/ plenty of tables throughout & an assisting wait staff. I ordered the FLAUTAS EL COMETA, marked my chosen table with the order number, & went to grab cups of salsa & Pico de gallo. By the time I got back, there was a basket of chips & ice water waiting for me. Very nice & unexpected. The FLAUTAS weren't extremely flavorful, but I feel that's what makes this place authentic. The restaurant served delicious food. I have a couple of suggestions. First, your prices should match the menu you have posted online. My order of tacos de alambre with cheese, was $3.40 more. The tacos de alambe with cheese were also $3.40 more. its extremely important that your information online is accurate. The second was that my beef tacos de alambre with cheese, were supposed to be grilled onions, the onions were almost completely raw. Also, my orddr had half onions the other half was meat, a tad of green pepper, and a bit of cheese. I think if I liked raw onions, maybe it would be acceptable. I only like grilled onions. Using an excess of this ingredient, and trying to eat them practically raw, ruined my meal. The reason I know the quantity is because I had to pick the onions out from order.
