What was once a favorite is now another place I'll be skipping. I used to tolerate the poor service because the food and aguas frescas were awesome! I had flautas and a taco so I could try a few things to give a balanced review. You order up front and take a number and they will bring your food to you at your table. The flautas come nicely dressed with cotija cheese, lettuce and onion, and the tacos are build your own with tortillas separate in foil and a couple salsas on the side. Service is quick, the food is fresh, clean and presented well. The only drawback is the price. For the kind of money I spent, you aren't being filled up nearly as much as you would somewhere else for some other food, but you are getting good food. This is my second stop at Tepalca. I love the fresh food served here and the warm people. Nearly every menu option has fresh options such as fruit to be included in them. From the dishes to the sides to drinks and desserts, all of them can be enjoyed with fresh fruit. I love this. I enjoy their tacos immensely here, especially the conchita pabil and asada meat filled tacos. I also like the flautas and quesadillas as well. The deserts are a big draw for many people and I especially enjoy the eschamocha which is a delightful fruit filled cream delight with granola topped on it. Their horchata is also very very good and is served in a massive cup, ice chilled. The prices are very reasonable at Tepalca as well, with a lunch available for less than 10 a person. I stop at Tepalca everytime I visit El Paso. A great fresh and fast version of mexican food. read more

This place is real busy so I was lucky to find a parking spot but you can also park on the curb on the street. In this case lack of parking is because people love this restaurant. Customers are directed through a well organized line. The entire shopping process is streamlined. The fresas con crema were great. The torta was huge for a good price. Great value. read more

Tried Flautas Y Paleteria Tepalca tonight. They were very nice because it was 10 minutes til closing and everyone must've had the same idea as me cause suddenly it was super crowded. I ordered 4 beef flautas and a small Horchata and it was $10. I haven't had a lot of flautas so didn't really know how to put the sauces on since it's packed individually. You can call in to order or go inside, and they give you a number and will take it out to your car. It was a little dry but still good with all the sauces. Ke'flauta down the street is a little greasier and more flavorful but also more expensive. I'll definitely come back and try the paletas and their tortas. Hopefully they can find more cooks and helpers since they seem a little short staffeed. read more

This place should be rated the most Mexican eatery in America! Every time I visit my family in El Paso Tx., a visit to Tepalca is a must. My favorite dish to order is the Flautas, shredded beef. The best ones you can have. They are made to order, therefore they are fresh, hot, delicious. The beef has the very Mexican seasonings that make the whole dish bright. The order comes with 4, 6 or 8 flautas, depending how hungry you are. I'll not tell you that I order the 8 Flautas Order, that is just for me to know. Did I say crispy? Oh my! I wish they have a location in Denver Colorado, next to my home, (am I asking for too much?). Oh, and for a drink, how about an "agua fresca"? Coconut water with pecans, my favorite, the biggest size for me please. The place is always clean and spotless. The waiters are making sure you have what you need, and everyone is very smiley and friendly regardless of how busy the place gets. They also have many other Mexican treats, like Mexican ice cream, fruit treats, strawberries with cream, and lots and lots of calories. I usually go to this place in The Valley so I had not been to this location. Walking in you can tell they just recently remodeled. It was nice and the place was clean. Other than a bunch of un bussed tables which were hard to not notice. Everything in there seems very organized. The bus girl was walking around chewing on food which was a bit unprofessional in my opinion. And she decided to clean the tables when us and 3 other people walked in, leaving the cash register un attended. She made us all wait to order until she was done cleaning the tables... odd.... The food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Our flautas were perfect! For those who have not been they have aquas frescas and a lot of different flavors of homemade ice cream and paletas. They have all of your Mexican comfort food choices such as chilindrinas, papas locas, cacahuates preparados, cóctel de fruta, Tostitos preparados, fresas con crema, and so on... I had been waiting to go to this place for some time now because of the hype on the flautas and they have tortas! Well it was a total waste of time. We walked in to order two tortas, 2 aguas frescas, and cheese fries. The place is full and we find a seat quickly. Order was placed and we notice some people complaining because they've been waiting 1hr but we let it go because they looked like bigger orders. 50 minutes to by, and I finally ask. The kid (all the people up front are teenagers ) I ask never comes back with my ticket. And he says it'll be out soon, so I ask for my receipt. The kid tell me he can't give it back because THEY LOST MY ORDER TICKET. So they had to keep mine to make the order. I cancelled and got refunded. Now I get why people were complaining. Not sure if this is what it's like on a Sunday afternoon but come on-it's a freaken sandwich and cheese fries Also, brief update:they refunded me the wrong amount. Shorted me $7. Great food but terrible service! Been to this location several times and loved the food. This last time was horrible, we ordered had a seat and waited and waited for 40 minutes while tables that arrived after us were served. The line to order only got longer and the phone rang off the hook while the employees seemed to move slower and with no sense of urgency. After 30 minutes I asked when our food would be done and got the shot answer of " I think they're making it now", another 10 minutes and I got a refund with little in the way of an apology and left. This place could have done so much better! Good food will bring customers in, good service will keep them coming back. Plenty of places in EP to get good Mexican street food, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Customer service was horrible. I placed an order for two very small items. The people that were attending weren't paying attention took over 20 minutes. This is the second time this is happened won't be going back anymore. When I went to do the refund, they refunded it to a card but I had paid cash so I'm not too sure what they were doing or know what they're doing. The manager didn't even apologize for the wait.
