Typical business trip to El Paso and had a couple hours before heading to the airport. My co-worker had been here before and insisted on trying this again. It's a little hard to find tucked back in a little strip center. The inside is interesting decor with different theme walls. What was nice is that the staff was very friendly. Amazingly good flautas for an incredibly reasonable price. (They have other dishes too, but that's what they are known for!) Beans and rice on the side are optional / modest extra charge - they are usually very good and worth adding if you're hungry enough. My favorite sauce is the Chipotle. It's got heat as it's also creamy...I would call it medium (I like spicy food.) If you're getting them to go, you might want the sauce and toppings on the side. They usually ask about that, but occasionally they might forget. Service is usually friendly and efficient even when they are busy. Your food is made to order, so it's fast but not instantaneous. Allow 5-10 minutes for pickup most of the time. The dining room is medium-sized. I would say it's a place to eat and go, not stay and linger. read more

Stopped at El Taquito for breakfast during our move from WA to TX, and it was such a great choice. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the whole place had that warm, local-favorite vibe. We ordered the flautas with chipotle sauce and the chilaquiles with half red and half green sauce. The chilaquiles were absolutely amazing. We added a runny egg since we couldn't do chicken, and it gave the dish extra flavor and a good boost of protein. The flautas (which I'd honestly describe more as taquitos dorados) were crunchy and tasty. We liked the chipotle sauce that came with them, but we actually loved dipping them into the chilaquile sauce even more. We landed in El Paso came here for lunch. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking. We were greeted quickly and told to pick our table. Our server was very pleasant, took our order, and our food came pretty quickly. The 2 whom order flautas were happy with their orders. I ordered the fajitas, but the meat was too salty, so I ended up eating more carbs than I wanted to so that I could eat the meat. The day special seems to be a good deal. This place a is truly a gem in El Paso and the food and staff was amazing. It's a small little shop but big on friendliness, cleanness, and amazing taste on the food. I ordered the huevos a la mexicana with some steak and potatoes and it was one of the best foods I had in El Paso. The food portions were very generous and I also ordered some avocado with my food and unlike most places I got more than 3 slices of it for a very good price. I would recommend this place for anybody wanted to get some good Mexican breakfast. I will need to go back to try their lunch menu. I also want to note this seems to be a family owned business with a lot of history and the staff all seem to work great together and I believe that is why they are also very successful and hope it stays that way. This place never disappoints. It's repeatedly rated high by locals for very simple reasons: good service, great prices, homey ambiance, and deliciousfood. You won't get closer to Mexican homecooking than this place. The three of us had coffee, breakfast and their chips, salsa, guacamole appetizer for $39. I only wish that their location was easier to get to. It's a bit hidden behind a laundromat with a small parking area tucked away. There is absolutely nothing flashy or fancy about this restaurant but the food is most definitely on point, which is the main reason in going to a restaurant, right? I ordered the Verde plate, which consisted of shredded beef and potatoes is chile verde sauce. This plate also comes with rice, beans and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. PERFECTION ON A PLATE! This dish reminded me of a similar dish my Nana used to make! My server was amazing! She was friendly and attentive. My food was delivered to my table pretty quickly after I ordered and was piping hot. This restaurant is also VERY easy on the wallet. So I'm in for a few days and wanted to get some breakfast tacos. When I arrived I saw that the place was packed and only open till 3pm. I was thinking this can go one of 2 ways, either really good or really, really bad. My buddy and I decided to give it a try. The parking was totally packed, so we parked across the street. We walked it and didn't have to wait long. I ordered the Texicana and Barbacoa tacos, and my buddy ordered the Red plate. My first visit here, and I found El Taquito to live up to its fame of being recognized as one of Yelp's top 100 places to eat in Texas. My Chipotle Flautas were very tasty and delicious and served hot and fresh. Everyone I came in contact with were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The inside decor is nothing fancy, but very comfortable. It's the "Mom and Pop" feel type place where you're recognized upon entering and made to feel welcome. I depended on the directions from clicking on the Yelp App to get here or I might have missed it. It's the 3rd or 4th business in a series of buildings off of Airway Blvd. The directions were right on, and I drove right up to it. Of course once you've been here, you'll always remember how to get here. Having nearly a 5 Star Review rating on Yelp, and being recognized as #32 among Yelp's top 100 places to eat in Texas is a Big Deal! This was an easy 5 Stars for me. This place was great! We're on a roadtrip so we stopped in for some food to go. We got there 5-10 minutes before they closed and they were so helpful and accommodating! I'm vegetarian and they helped describe everything that I could eat. I ended up getting vegetarian tacos and they were amazing. May 2021 Now, a few weeks back when "El taquito" made the 100 list of restaurants to go in Texas I arrived via GPS and recognized it. I was so happy to find the restaurant again. I congratulated them for making the 100 restaurants to to in Texas and when I "checked-in" with the Yelp App I got an offer for 3 flautas with rice and beans. Really good. So, here I am again. Today I ordered the special which is a very generous serving of "caldo de res" (beef stew like broth soup with beef and veggies Mexican style) Mexican rice, and 3 tortillas. followed by my choice of "Tacos de Barbacoa" (I could have gotten flautas or other type of tacos) the platter comes with two tacos, half a lime, some cole, rice and refried beans. Additionally the special includes your choice of a medium "Agua Fresca" I got "Agua de Melon" (Cantaloup drink) and for 50 cents you can size up. All very affordable! For me "El taquito" restaurant food tastes lots like Home Made Mexican (northern tex/mex style) food which easily reaches my heart. If you like spicy food I highly suggest their Red Salsa.
