I ordered the 5 person combo chicken and steak. To go. It comes with 5 prebuttered baked potatoes- average sized, a large serving of Charro beans, one small queso fundido with Chorizo, ( they charged me for the chorizo and the queso did not have it). About 8 large chile toreados, grilled onions.and plenty of corn tortillas. The charro beans were mostly bean soup. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio". This place has a small sign that states that if you pay with a credit card a 3% service charge will be added to your bill. I am pretty good with math and I pointed out to the cashier that they actually charge 4%. He did make a correction on my bill. Be ware of your bill. Otherwise they do give you plenty of food. It reminds me of a Mexican parrillada/ grilled cook out. The food here was very good, good tasting, and in spite of the small glitches worth it. We will be returning again. read more

Decided to try this little hole and the wall and man oh man does this place pack a punch in terms of flavor! The flavor of everything was really really good. From the meats to the sauces. Amazing! Only thing I didn't like is how dang small my tacos were. Other than that, great spot! read more

We have lived down the street for several years but never tried this place so far. We decided to go all out and get the parrilladas for two. It came with chips and 3 types of salsas (avocado, hot red, mild/medium green), corn tortillas, 2 baked potato, queso fundido, grilled onions, long green chiles, jalapenos, guacamole, charro beans, and beef and pork. It was alot of food for two people, definitely could serve 3 unless you are starving. I thought all the salsas were good-- the red was pretty spicy! Most places also don't give avocado salsa with such a generous amount of avocado but they did! The beef was way too salty for me but the pork had good flavor. I definitely think the presentation of the food was really fun it came in a big silver platter and a sizzling cast iron plate (which I took a picture of so take a look) it's really extravagant which makes the food taste better because it's fun to eat off of it. Definitely fun experience, and you will not leave hungry, but food could be a little less salty. Solid 3.5 stars but I round up to 4 stars. read more

Had lunch here a few days ago and food was ok. The portions were good and flavor was enjoyable. The food came out fairly quickly but we were the only customers in the restaurant. We did not get our drinks refilled at all and we were ignored after the food came out. One big issue is that there was a sewer smell coming from the bathroom that made the meal a bit unpleasant. Happened upon this place just after eating somewhere else and was compelled to try their tacos. Got a small plate of two carne asada tacos at the advice of our excellent and sweet server (Ara), and they were excellent. Personal hands on attention to detail was evident in everything. The plate came with a table full of salsas and extras and a cup of soup that was almost as much as the entre. Flavors were authentic and all for a great price that was less than the tip! Let me tell you... this is THE BEST place to get tacos, hands down. Of all the different places I have tried in El Paso, you cannot find tacos more authentic than these. They first came out and served us chips and salsa, followed by a delicious bean/soup dish. I ordered tacos de barbocoa, while my other friends ordered tacos de tripitas and tacos de alambre. Oh my goodness... I have never had meat so delicious and flavorful. I can guarantee you will leave here satisfied, as it has become one of my new favorite resteraunts in El Paso!! This place was fire. We got tacos de barbacoa and tacos de carnitas. Straight up best shit we had on our trip to El Paso this time. My only complaint is that the salsas they bring out with the complimentary chips were all cold. I know they're probably kept in a fridge but it'd be nice to get some warm salsa. Stopped for lunch because we were craving some authentic Mexican tacos; also it was recommended to us as "the place to go". If the parking lot was a "sign" of what was to come next, we should have turned around and left. We entered from the rear of the restaurant (rear parking) and proceeded to seat ourselves; the place was empty. The decoration was the same usual "intense" cultural artesanías and colors. Looked at the menu and it was simple but for some reason the selection diversity and dish choices were just not that ample. I ordered a beer and the waiter informed me that they don't serve alcohol but they would allow me to bring my own; I ordered a lemonade instead. I then ordered the tacos al pastor (4ea) and a separate plate of rice and refried beans. To my surprise they only serve frijoles charros, no rice or refried beans! My wife asked if she could order a sampler plate with one of each tacos for a total of four. The waiter informed her that they could not do that but they would allow her to order two carnitas tacos and two asadas, so my wife agreed and ordered as suggested. Sadly she received four carnitas tacos after all. My grandson ordered a pizza. The tacos were dry as if the meat had been sitting on a hot plate for a long time or had been reheated several times before serving them. In all our years eating Mexican food (many years!), either one of us had ever been served tacos were all the ingredients must be diced and prepared by the customer at the table; maybe served separately already diced and available for the customer to add as they wish. The ingredients were not diced. The cilantro, onions, avocado, radish, ect were as if they had Ben pulled of the shelf and added to the plate. The food just did not meet our expectations at all! I've previously been to the other location on Dyer but recently tried this piedras location. I can say service was excellent at both locations. Despite a large group our server was attentive with keeping our glasses full and bringing out fresh chips and salsa. Speaking of salsa, their three varieties are all delicious and unique. The guacamole salsa is particularly delicious. I ordered the Barbacoa tacos which were fresh, tasty and very filling. A little greasy but that's barbacoa for you. Last Sunday my Hubby and I were on our way to L&J for lunch after spending some time DT shopping. As we approached, it became very obvious that there would be a definite wait. Longer than our growling stomachs could tolerate! So I opened my "Yelp" app, where I had a long list of places to try bookmarked. Especially when away from our usual hood, up on the "West Side". No "judgement" please, no we are definitely NOT "rich"! We decided on "El Toro Bronco". Man-O-Man!!!! Sorry L&J, although we still enjoy you....... But we have a new favorite place. We walked in and were instructed to be seated anywhere. Before I even had a chance to put down my purse, we were served the most amazing "Charro Beans" (hubby actually enjoyed them, and I can never get him to eat any beans except canned refried), 3 types/heats of salsa & chips. I kind of thought it odd (at that moment) that they had brought such a small portion of chips, only later to realize, that they did a really great job of keeping them filled. And with each new addition, they were warm and fresh!! Such a little thing, but makes a huge difference! Hubby ordered the Queso Steak Tacos (major Queso lover), I the Carne Asada Tacos and a additional side of guacamole. The restaurant had several large groups that appeared to be families out for their Sunday Meal. Our server was very attentive and helpful when helping us "Gringos" navigate our options, as well keeping us aware of the status of our order. I wish I had gotten her name. Always smiling, we "Felt" very welcome and valued. I'm sorry to say that is not always the case when we want to try some of the smaller authentic eateries here in El Paso. But it doesn't deter us. Ok the food, both of our entree's arrived with grilled onions/jalapeño, radish, a beautiful entire half of an avocado (hubby doesn't eat them, score for me!) and fresh lime wedges and cilantro sprigs. Each plate had 4 tacos, his covered with sooo much Queso, mine the tortillas were yummy, but I actually "had" to NOT eat three of them because I just didn't have anymore room. And I wasn't about to let any morsel of that delicious meat remain on my plate. As we were finishing up and discussing our opinions of the experience the food, etc. We came to the unanimous decision that this is going on the "Will Drive Out-of-Our-Way to get more of list! Just as that realization was made a Family-Style order of Fajitas was being delivered...... And even though we were both stuffed-to-the-gills, it smelled heavenly and made us both wish we had room for more!! If your still reading, give this place a try. Found this place through Yelp wanting to explore the city and its Mexican food. Sadly the home squeezed lemonade was the best part out of all of our meal. The carnitas were incredibly dry, and smelled and tasted like old pork. The platter "comal" presentation of it was great. The slices of avocado were my favorite with their fresh limes. My son had a steak quesadilla and it was decent. My husbands tacos, not so much. All meat was missed flavor and the drunk man statues were creepy. Service was good, young lady did well serving us. We won't be returning again. Could be that El Paso's "Mexican food" isn't like what I'm used to, but on the bright side the lemonade was perfect. read more
