I love this place. Everything on the menu is delicious. I usually order the family order of Gorditas. You get 12 Gorditas, beans, rice and salsa for 22.50 and it feeds a lot of people. You can also order family order of enchiladas, tacos, flautas. Beans, rice and salsa is included as well. Nice comfortable atmosphere but we always order to go. read more

Great food great service. Family packages are the best bang for your money. Try the gorditas and tacos desebrada.

Wow, this place definitely makes some tasty food. The first time we ordered wife had the tacos de piccadillo and I had the gorditas, tacos are nice and crispy, doraditos, picadillo with delicious flavor and that spicy salsa, so good, gorditas are tender flavorful, with the same tasty picadillo filling. The second time I tried the double cheeseburger, Woah, huge patties, soft buns, definitely for big appetites, and you will want to eat every last bite, my wife ordered the brisket tacos, oh man let me tell you, those brisket tacos are to die for. read more

I've been looking for a place like Happy Burger the entire time I've been in El Paso. It's an unassuming, family operated, no frills with delicious inexpensive food kind of place. As a matter of fact, those hole in the wall places are my favorite places to eat from. I was driving to KLAQ's Halloween parade at 2pm and figured I should get some food to tide me over as it was our first Halloween parade and they're usually hard to get in and out of. I felt like gorditas or tacos since they're good handheld food. The kids already had Sonic $0.50 corndogs so this was strictly for me. I saw that this place had a drive thru and once I saw the pictures of the deshebrada tacos I was sold. I wanted the gorditas as well but the tacos were a must have. The pricing was amazing as well. I was used to paying $3 for Rivas tacos (even though they're worth it) the family meal deal was a STEAL in comparison...$17+tax for 12 hard tacos with all the fixings and rice and beans. It came out to be $20. Now, the restaurant only operates their drive thru and no inside dining at this time, which kinda sucks because it made the lines longer and the all you can eat menudo is intriguing and only dine in. Bring your patience because everything is made fresh so it took 15-20 mins from ordering with 2 cars ahead of me. When I opened the tacos at the parade, everyone gawked at me. Yes I was going to try to stuff 12 tacos down my gullet. Well that was the plan but I got distracted, so only had 3 there to tide my hunger pains.  It was glorious, the tacos had a corn meal texture, which reminded me of gorditas, so it was the best of both of my choices, the texture of a gorditas, but the crispness and thickness of a fried taco shell. The beef inside was plentiful and the shredded lettuce, wedge of tomato (genius) and melted government cheese was divine. The salsa wasn't the best (Rivas still is king) but it was just enough to help the tacos slide down easily.  I didn't end up finishing until much later after the parade was done at 3pm, and I originally ordered them at 1pm, so it was cold, and a little soggy, but the cheese had hardened and made it hold it's shape and it was still delicious! I ate 4 more and when I got home at 6pm after not only doing the parade, but also the Park and Recs event, AND the Game Vault Halloween/Pokemon party, hubby finished everything and declared it yummy. I'm both sad and happy it's far from me. Sad because I know I'll crave it and it's so inexpensive I'll probably put it on my rotation weekly. Happy because it probably is better for me healthwise not to eat greasy tacos weekly, meh, but I do anyways. For my East friends, you lucky ducks, go check them out if you haven't and if you already knew about them and didn't tell me, shame! Great food, great prices. Happy Burger has been owned and operated by the same owners for years. The kids just recently started to help out more. Got to love and support family business's. Burgers are good. Burritos are awesome. Mexican dishes, good. I always get flautas but my family members prefer tacos or gorditas. Overall, not a bad place to pick up food in a hurry. It's always consistent which is why they get a four star. If you're craving something from here, you'll be happy to know the craving you had will be met. I'd pick this place any day for the price. Definitely worth it. Could you find better? Sure, but not on this side of town. Should you drive here to try? Nah, don't make the special trip. But definitely remember this place if you're near by. read more

We ordered at a counter and sat down to receive our meal. The servers were pleasant. The burgers are big and have a good charbroil taste. French fries were average. Had some gordita and flavita. I do not put extra vegetables or sauces on them, as most people do. To me, they were bland and did not have a taste. Prices are low. The restaurant is closed on Sunday. The bathroom was clean. read more

This place is absolutely delicious! The burgers taste so homemade and the flavor of the meat is so juicy and good. Definitely feels like home! The drive thru is perfect for take out! This is nasty and is not like anything I thought it would be. Char anything u expect flavor as to which this doesn't have. The bun is big and hard, the lettuce is soggy and the meat isn't flavorful. There's French Ketchup which is also nasty as well. The large pop is a great size but ask for light ice or you will get a 1/2 cup of ice. Fries are good and the customer service is great read more

Won't order the burgers anymore, there's a reason why vegetables go on top of meat patties. If you be out your veggies on the bottom bun when you put the Pattie's on top the lettuce will cook from the heat of the still hot patty, causing the lettuce to wilt an turn into rubber, also the this creates a lot of moisture and will make your button bun soggy. So gross, I think cooks are getting lazy and think a few seconds to make them right, is not worth it. I see this happening more and more. Pic of burger done the right way. read more

Been coming here with my family since 2003 and its always had the friendliest staff which is the family of the owner. They serve the best round hotdogs and charbroiled hamburgers on the east side of El Paso! The burritos and other menu items are good too but if your a first timer you have to get a round hotdog meal if your not into hot dogs then get a charbroiled hamburger they are legit . If you've never been here don't judge this place from the outside its really good quality stuff... read more

Disappointed. Paid $$ for the "deluxe" combo" and here's what they send you home with. If you think driving through is faster, it ain't. Took them 20 minutes. If you're hungry, pick another place. They're dining room is closed for obvious reasons.. Long story short The food is slow is pooly prepared and slow. Need I say more? This was my first time but surely I wont be back. read more

I have been coming here for the past year, and have been really pleased with the quality of the food, the price, and the support I can give for a local family business. I've tried different dishes each time. It has all been good from the burgers to the Mexican combo plates. The place closes at 7 pm so it is not a late night type of place. You can call ahead for to-go orders which is a good idea because a lot of people tend to line up around 5 pm. They do have a drive-thru where you can pick up your order. Don't expect fancy, but do expect a good meal for a good price. read more

Two stars for the Gorditas and tacos. The loss of three stars because the burgers are dry and don't have much flavor.

I discovered this place, about a year and a half ago at my old job. They would order the mexican family meal, for a super fair price, and everything is delicious! If you are planning to not overeat, this is not the place for you! I turn my husband on to this place, who then told all his soldier buddies, and now it's a hot spot. I'm proud of that! First of all, the name of the place is adorable, Happy Burger? C'mon! So cute. At first I was very confused because my work got mexican stuff from them, but I guess it's an unassuming fusion type place. I haven't had one item in the menu I didn't like. It's fairly priced, and on your way out don't forget to check out the cookies or empanadas. I personally like the cinnamon sugar cookies they have up front. Delicious! read more

We ate here in 3/29. My first time, so was a bit hesitant, although my family from El Paso loves the place. Despite the name, this is a Mexican restaurant first and foremost, although the burgers look and smell terrific. The food was generous and fairly priced. The flair as were quite good, my daughter loved them. The go editors were good also. The taco wasn't my favorite, but I have had far worse as well. The rice and beans were terrific. The salsas were good, but be careful, they can be really spicy, so be prepared for that. The hamburgers look great too, they were big and the one person who had them said it was terrific. I might try one next time I go there, they did look great. The "ambience" isn't, it is not a place you go for fine dining. And they close early, so factor that in. But for a good quality Mexican meal with beef, a good choice. read more

This used to be my favorite burger place when I lived in El Paso. I haven't been in EP for the last five years but knew this was one of the locations I wanted to go back to when in town, and man, it's just as good as I remembered it. The burgers taste like at a friends bbq (if you have a friend that likes to do a lot of "made from scratch"). If you like good, big, charbroiled burgers but don't want to shell out restaurant prices--this is the place to go to. read more

I like the burgers at this little place, particularly when I'm in the mood for an "econo-burger." I find them to more flavorful and less greasy than Frisco Burger just down the street. Sure, it takes a few minutes for a "scratch" burger. The burgers remind me of the burgers at the old "Charcoaler" that used to be on Montana - but still exists on Mesa st. The green chile burger is pretty yummy. I've never tried any of their Mexican offerings. read more

Honestly, this is my first time visiting Happy Burger. First impressions for me are very important. When two of my co-workers and I arrived, the lady up front was helping other customers and a second woman was not doing anything and decided that now was a good time to go into the back and grab a broom and dustpan to sweep the dining room instead of take lunch orders at 11:45 during the lunch rush. I know that this particular employee had the authority to take and prepare orders, because that is what she did after her "sweeping" was completed. Timeliness is important during the lunch hour, faster service = more money, and every businesses goal should be to make as much money as possible. My next concern, and hopefully the owners or operators of Happy Burger are reading this review, the service window which can be seen in my menu photo is a blessing and a curse. Let me explain. In any restaurant, an open kitchen design or a service window is a good thing! It can allow easier expediting of food orders and communication flow between the front and backs of house, and allows the guests to have a view of the place where their future meal will be coming from. This service window however shows the public a dirty grease covered tile wall that used to be white behind a fryer. The vent hoods that are above said fryer and grill were not clean and looked like they had not been cleaned in some time. Not only is this a potential fire hazard, it shows the level of importance that the kitchen staff apply to their cleaning standards. Dirty hoods usually means dirty everything else. Now, as far as my burger...I ordered the bacon cheeseburger combo and while the burger was large in circumference and had quality bacon and a nice charbroiled flavor as advertised, the patty was dry and required all of my large root beer to get down. So, the big question is, will I be back? Not on my own volition, but if I am starving and can not leave work and my friends are going there, I would let them buy me lunch. read more
