The fajitas include a small amount of beef. I was expecting at least a minimum of 8 ounces of beef. When I measured it at home it was 6 and 1/4 ounces. Not even a minimum of what I expected. They are ok seasoned. The charro beans were excessively salty . Depending too much on salt for flavor is a sign of being lazy to make food taste good. Or at least try to make it taste good. I paid $38.49 for two orders of beef fajitas for each one to have a lot less than 8 ounces of beef is disappointing . The food order was prepared quickly. The restaurant was completely empty . I'm a big fan of Don Carbon's chicken and I'm thrilled that instead of having to drive 15 miles west and dealing with the clusterf#ck at Sunland Park Dr, I can now drive 15 miles east and deal with the clusterf#ck at the Horizon Blvd exit to get it. The grilled chicken is awesome, totes worth the drive, I always get the 3 piece combo, and the sides are pretty darn good, I usually rotate amongst the fries, baked potato, rice, and beans, there's really no going wrong, and the square tortillas and pickled onions round up a very satisfying meal for only $10. The flan here is outstanding, as well, highly recommend it. The address is a little weird, it maps incorrectly, so be on the lookout, this place is actually across the street from Walmart on the Horizon Blvd side next to Horizon City town hall. read more

This place is super close to my house and I had recently heard about the fit bowl so I decided to stop by and grab one for my husband and myself. I got him the beef and myself the chicken. I believe that first impressions are everything, and when I pulled up to the drive thru I was not impressed. Rather than a "thank you for choosing..." or "hello" I got a "are you ready to order?" ...at that moment, with that tone, I wasn't sure I even wanted to order anymore. We were super hungry though so I ordered. When I pulled up to pay, the cashier was better. She wasn't rude but I think the customer service at this location could be improved. The food was ready pretty quick! On to the food! My bowl was good! It came with a dressing that tasted like a combo of soy sauce, lemon juice and jalapeño, it paired really well with the bowl. I loved the grains and the kale and the chicken was so good! The beef was good too but my husband doesn't like salads and he said it was more like a salad. Overall he did say it was good though. Don carbon is a great place to eat when you want flavor but don't want to feel guilty. The chicken is amazing! I went with the 2 piece meal and asked for lemon pepper. Flavor was perfect! I also had a burger which was ok, the patty itself seemed like an over seasoned frozen patty, the cheese and pineapple made it taste better but I definitely would stick to the chicken if I returned because it was so good. Very disappointed. Firstly, although I made eye contact with a young woman she consistently ignored me. In fact she actually came up to the counter looked at me, shuffled some items on the counter, turned and walked away. Very rude. Secondly, I ordered french fries and beans as sides. I even pointed to the pictures of the side dishes. What I got was macaroni salad and a half cup of beans. This isn't rocket science. Thirdly, the tortillas were stale and cold. Arrived with my family, cashier knew the menu and was nice. We then sat down and waited for our food, our food came out fairly quick and it was good. The waitress, however, attitude from hell. Lack of customer service and extreme lack of education. 2 stars for the food. We called the waitress to our table as she never brought a side order of fries. She came and we asked her for our fries, she was quick to say we didn't have an order of fries or she would've brought it with the rest of our food. My husband who just returned from military duties, told her we ordered a side of fries. She again said no and show me your receipt. He proceeded to take out the receipt from his pocked and she literally took it from his hand. She then said oh yea, but I didn't get the order and I'll be back with your fries. No apology. No nothing. While she was gone, I went back to the register and ordered queso fundido, the cashier stated it came with tortillas. I went back to the table, she then brought the fries and the queso, no tortillas. I stated "doesn't it come with tortillas" she stated " yes but you already have some" I said well I want the additional ones that come with the queso. (The menu clearly stated additional tortillas for X amount of $) she rolled her eyes, left and came back with tortillas. I asked her "is there a manager" she said yea and starred at me.. I said can you get him and she walked off. IT DOESNT END THERE.. the manager came was cordial and apologetic. He then went and talked to the waitress and SHE RETURNED TO CONFRONT US!! After a long discussion she had with my family about how she's the best waitress in that establishment and customers will always come in and go out, she stated she could've just ignored us the rest of the night and not cared. Honestly I wanted to like this place. I do from the bottom of my heart. In LA, grilled chicken places are a diamond in the rough and a favourite hangout joint with my boys in LA one going as far as reminding him of home in DR with a Mexican twist. I was thrilled to see a similar cuisine here in my hometown of El Paso with Don Carbon in a much more comfortable atmosphere with air conditioning and the cool quirky square tortillas. However after being food poisoned 3 times from Don Carbon I cannot continue to give my business to a restaurant that serves food that is detrimental to my health. I don't know what it is whether it's old chicken or poor food handling but it's been one too many. I had to put my foot down when my father got sick. I haven't experienced poor customer service personally but then again I keep my expectations low when it comes to customer service in El Paso. It's generally mediocre at best and it's something you get used to as a native so no points deducted here specifically. In conclusion I went in with high expectations and everything was going right for them. But getting food poisoning frequently is not worth it. I will continue to enjoy the same style of chicken up in North Hollywood with the charm of outdoor tent sittings and exposed outdoor grills and a nice friendly conversation with the owner. Two stars is being generous and I hope Don Carbon will understand that I will be hesitant to give them another chance just out of consideration for my own health.
