First time at Dave's Hot Chicken. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich and w/fries and drink $14. Chicken Sandwich 4 out of 5. The "hot" spice didn't disappoint. Good flavor and got my nose running. Add the coleslaw and pickles to the sandwich, you will need it when you run out of chicken to go with the bread. Fries 4 out of 5. Seasoned well and crispy. I ordered a side of cheese sauce in case, but it wasn't necessary. The cheese sauce was meh. The fries alone were delicious. Side of pickles were outstanding! Restaurant was clean, but small. If you like to eat outside it's perfect unless you live in a desert. Oh ya El Paso is a desert! There are only 2 tables inside. Over 12 metal tables outside and no shade. Krystal my server (order taker) was outstanding, her customer service A++. Manager/Supervisor F- instead of just standing there over Krystal's shoulder you could have greeted or even helped in the back to expedite orders (15+ mins) with only one person in front of me. There were at least 7 other people waiting after I got there just standing around waiting for their order. For that I could only give 3 star. If you are pressed for time, definitely order ahead at least 15mins. Don't be afraid to get in the trenches with your employees management, slap an awning outside and it might be the go to chicken spot! read more

So for the price, I'm gonna find it hard for me to drive out there just to go again. At $22, each was a bit wild. Aside from that, it was good. Chicken had a lot of flavor, was juicy, and crispy. We all got medium heat sliders with cheese fries. I got a tender with the Reaper spice. They make you sign a waiver. I'm no rookie to heat, I love my spice and eating reapers or scorpion peppers, but this was like the devil violated my mouth. I think it's a mix of the peper powder and capsaicin extract. Almost ruined my day. There was a decent line when we arrived, but it moved fast, and service was good. It's small inside and only offered two tables and a bar like table. Very delicious chicken!! I was excited to see how their chicken spicyness had 7 levels and their hottest level called Reaper requires customers to sign a waiver when they order it. That's some serious stuff. The lady supervising the line at the door entrance claimed the Very Hot level which is one below Reaper burned her tongue. As one would expect with any grand opening, a line was out the door over this hyped up chicken. After waiting 2.5 hours, finally got an order of one tender and one slider with an additional side of mac and cheese. I would say the wait was not worth the food but it was all excellent for any other given day once the crowd starts clearing up more. The mac and cheese was delicious as well. I can't wait to try their milkshake next time! The place is very fun and takes on the ambiance of Hollywood since that's its place of origin. read more

Rear was ready in 20 minutes and headed straight the pick up counter where it was waiting for me. The dining room seemed a lil tight so I took it home. They were delish! We went to Dave's on August 1st and thought the chicken was good. It would be nice if they served a vegetable, a couple of slices of cucumber or something, with the chicken and French fries. The server needs to slow down her pace of speech. She rattled off the condiments like a computer. Polite service. Ambiance is terrible. Not enough options for indoor seating and not enough shade on the patio. In addition to not enough shade, we could not rearrange tables or move umbrellas to escape the sun or the heat. Food was decent but this is fast food. My husband, toddler and I spent $43.00. 3.5 stars is the more accurate rating. My first ever experience of Dave's and I was over the moon excited for this one. What I did like was a few things. The customer service was fine, the cashier was very sweet and polite. The place was covered in cool art that had the feel for Texas and El Paso. The ambience was youthful and summer vibes like. We tried the nuggets, sliders and classic strips. The nuggets were AMAZING. Flavorful, juicy and perfect in every bite. Honestly the highlight of the experience. The strips were the disappointment, they were really dry and lacked flavor and just packed spice. The sliders were no different, the bread was stale and tasted it had been sitting outside for a while. The pickles and slaw were fine, however the slider had a small drizzle of Dave's sauce which was slightly annoying. Everything tasted half assed and rushed besides the nuggets. read more

the food was pretty good. is it amazing? no. it's not something i would crave or want everyday. i got the lite milk chicken sandwich with fries. i did not like how the lite mild chicken tasted like there was taco seasoning on it. i'm that type of person that gets grossed out tasting taco seasoning on anything other than tacos. other than that, the other flavors and everything else was yummy. the chicken was pretty moist and not hard. presentation of the food was pretty cool to. overall, if you don't mind the taco seasoning flavoring, i'd recommend it! read more

After my second attempt, (didn't do the long line the1st time) finally got to try Dave's and it didn't disappoint. Chicken tenders were large, juicy, and flavorful, fries were crispy and nicely seasoned, and even the pickles were fresh and crispy. I like spicy food, I like spicy Korean noodles and hot Mex salsas so I got extra hot. I handled it, but it did torch my taste buds. Next time I'll do reg hot, that should be just right. read more

My partner and I went to this establishment because we heard it was very good. It took them not too long to take our order, but after more than 30 minutes people after us keep getting their order. Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

I got the chicken sandwich which was the same sauce as wings a very good. Large portion and tons of fries, the sweet potato fries were good. We also got a side of a basil aioli which we really enjoyed. Drinks were also very good with craft liquors. The margarita was fantastic! Our server was so nice and attentive. It was a great time! Only con is it is pretty dark in the inside.

I finally checked out Ámbar inside the Plaza Hotel downtown and honestly... that burger alone…read morealready earned them a return visit. I had just come down from a Tom Lea gallery event upstairs and the restaurant was packed. I figured it was a long shot, but they still found a way to seat me. Service stayed friendly even with the rush, which I always notice. The burger was easily one of the best I've had in El Paso. Clearly handcrafted, cooked right, super juicy, really flavorful. What impressed me most was the bun actually held everything together instead of falling apart halfway through like most gourmet burgers do. At about $20, it felt justified. One thing worth noting, especially if you're into spirits: they have one of the largest tequila and mezcal collections around. Definitely a destination spot if that's your thing. I tried their carajillo but found out they add Baileys, which made it sweeter than I usually prefer. Not bad at all, just more dessert-leaning than my taste. Live music from Jordan Taylor was happening that night too, which made the whole atmosphere feel elevated without being stuffy. Because that first visit stuck with me, I went back recently to try their lunch special with a friend. For $26 you get an appetizer, entrée, sides, guacamole, tostadas, and dessert. It's honestly a great way to try a range of dishes without committing to just one plate. Funny enough, it doesn't look like a huge amount of food at first... but we were completely stuffed by the end, so kudos to them for balancing portions well while still giving variety. Standouts: * The octopus cocktail appetizer was excellent. Bright, fresh, good texture. * Carne asada was cooked exactly right. Tender but still had bite like a proper steak. * Mushroom components in several dishes were surprisingly flavorful. * Desserts were a highlight. The arroz con leche arancini especially. Crispy outside, creamy inside, not overly sweet. Very well done. Some things were more middle-of-the-road: * Salmon dish leaned bland, lots of texture but not much flavor. * Guacamole tasted a bit acidic. * Goat cheese in the enchiladas was subtle to the point of disappearing. * Corn and mashed potatoes were fine but nothing memorable. Timing was reasonable. Food came out in about 20 minutes, but with a full meal you'll want to plan roughly an hour to an hour and a half total if you're not rushing. One practical perk: they validate parking at the Plaza garage next door, which downtown absolutely needs more of. Overall, beautiful space, solid service, some really strong dishes, and a few that could use more punch. Still very much worth checking out, especially if you're downtown already or want a nicer but still relaxed lunch or dinner spot. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, modern, and very inviting. The food was good overall. We ordered a variety of tacos, a torta, and several sides, all of which we enjoyed. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the staff kindly brought out a complimentary dessert, which was beautifully plated and a nice touch that we appreciated. Unfortunately, the service fell a bit short. Our server wasn't very friendly and rarely checked on our table. We waited quite some time for drinks and water refills. We were seated near the kitchen and main walkway, which is hard to believe that we were overlook, and at times it felt like we were forgotten. We had high hopes for a great family dining experience, and while there were some positives, it didn't quite meet our expectations. That said, we did enjoy walking around the area afterward and taking photos. It's a lovely spot overall.

I made a reservation and our family of 5 had an incredible dinner. The service was exceptional - he was so attentive and wanted to make sure everything was just right. The food was some of the best we've eaten. The menu was diverse, and everything sounded so interesting. We had the pulled pork bao tacos for an appetizer, which were perfection - I could have just eaten them all night. My daughter ordered the green chili alfredo, which was as delicious as it was interesting. I ordered the pesto divorciados, and it had such complex flavors that paired together perfectly. My wife ordered the baked penne, and it was also just as delicious. We all agreed that all three entrees were just next level. My two youngest kids got kids' meals, which were homemade, delicious, and very kid-friendly. The atmosphere was fun, festive, and perfect for a date night or a fun night out with friends.
