I was very impressed with the steakhouse. Everything was top notch, the service as well as the meal. I highly recommend it and add it to your list of steakhouse to try. Prices are higher than a normal steakhouse, but still very reasonable. It's located a few blocks from San Jacinto Plaza. If you are only in the area a few hours, you should park in the nearby parking garage and get your ticket validated. Service was great. Since it was my anniversary, we were complimented with champagne and a nice Happy Anniversary sign at our table. We had the steak, asparagus, vegetables, salad, and cheesecake. Went with two other colleagues, one gave it a 3.5, one gave it a 2.5, and I settled and gave it a solid 3. Food was just so underwhelming and over salted while the sides were a bit bland. I needed to season the Brussels sprouts a lot because I felt that they weren't well cooked, rather possibly cooked from frozen due to how uneven the cook was. The mashed potatoes tasted a bit "instant" from my one colleague. He got the whole black bass and fought his whole meal not to eat all the bones. Felt that it should have been better seasoned. The sides of asparagus were the largest, stringy, tough, woody asparagus I ever did see, sorry, didn't get a photo of that. Me and the other colleague got the bone in 14oz NY strip. This was a thin 14oz. We both ordered medium rare, her's was perfectly cooked medium, mine was medium leaning med well. I sent it back and they got it right but boy did they slap on more seasoning so the salt lick was real. Seasoning was tasty but I couldn't taste the beef! The only part of the meal that was appetizing was the parmesan truffle fries. Unfortunately, while the food itself was excellent--beautifully presented and full of flavor--the overall experience fell short of what we'd hoped for. We quickly felt a bit out of place because of the dress code. We had dressed slightly above business casual for what we thought would be a fine dining experience, but many other diners seemed more casually attired, leaving us feeling slightly overdressed. Service was another letdown. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that the staff was either stretched too thin or not fully attentive, as it took an unusually long time to receive our drinks and water. Most restaurants provide bread or some other amenity while one waits for their entree. When my wife asked if we could at least get bread, we were told that they were waiting for the bread to bake. At a restaurant of this caliber, we expected prompt, polished service that matched the quality of the food. Adding to the disappointment was the music, which felt out of step with the atmosphere. I would've given this restaurant a 4/5 stars purely on the food and ambiance, however the service was terrible which made my rating go down completely. In my opinion if you are spending more than 100+ on a tab bad service shouldn't even be an issue. Our server (Fatima) was completely dismissive. When our steaks came out mine was under cooked & my partner needed salt for his food, I had to wave down another server to send my steak back & ask for salt. The other server took my steak to get recooked and brought back the salt, she also within 10 minutes brought back my recook. Keep in mind our original server ( Fatima) never came back to see if the steaks came out good or if we needed anything. Im not sure if servers treat their guest differently because u saw her check on her other tables plenty of times, she would just hoover and skip up for some reason. At a steak house its normal for server to do a food check on those steaks when they are delivered, but no she didn't stop by. Nonetheless she FINALLY came around when we were nearly done with our food asking if "everything was ok" um yes after 30 min and waving someone else down, imagine if i would've waited for her to come check on me, all my food wouldve been dead. On top of this issue, she charged us incorrectly after asking to pay half the tab cash, she proceeded to charge the full tab on the card. Which okay i get it servers mess up, HOWEVER what bothered me completely was that she didnt let us know she messed up nonetheless fixed the issue. So imagine my surprise getting home and seeing the full charge on my credit card. How extremely unprofessional. She should've just explained what happened and we would've understood, but no. Limited-Spanish themed menu was not mentioned over the phone when restaurant was called to re-schedule our original reservation. We were all looking forward to having a salad with our entree. Not an option. Not even on the tapas menu. The three-ingredient "Jamón ibèrico" arrived missing Olive Oil. We had to ask for two sides for the two that were ordered. Steak options? Limited. Paella? Out. Mac and Cheese? cold. Asparagus? Overdone. Salmon starter? Also out. A gentleman came to our table and introduced himself as the maître d and apologized for the many issues. He layed it on thick when describing their "very expensive" oven, explaining Weso spent a lot of money to have the best equipment. He assured us that the remaining menu items would not disappoint because of this. Sorry, but a fancy oven doesn't make up for poor execution from bad cooks. We asked him to remedy the many disappointments by bringing us a spinach salad and/or roasted veg. We NEVER saw him again. We sent back our potatoes after they arrived cold. COLD. I told the waiter they weren't even luke-warm. They arrived a second time, STILL cold. Mac and cheese was the best thing I ate tonight but not before we sent it back because it too arrived cold. I had the Wagyu Ribeye for dinner if that tells you anything. My girlfriend ordered a water with a lemon wedge. She reminded our waiter 3 times. Lemon wedge never arrived. Came here for the first time as out of towners. Ambiance is gorgeous, we were given a booth on the bar side near the patio door. We came in for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. There were already a few tables. The bartender was stocking the bar with some new glassware. We started with the steamed mussels which were divine. Many places give you too much broth. The broth was appropriate and the toast points were perfect. I was excited to have a steak in a Josper oven. It really is a big thing and I used to work at a restaurant that had one and used Kiawe charcoal. I opted for the 20 oz bone in ribeye and ordered it med rare. It came out rare, server didn't check back quickly enough so I just ate half of it. We ordered a side of asparagus and she had the Chilean sea bass but substituted Brussel sprouts. We needed salt and I walked to the open kitchen and was asking the cook for salt when the server came from the back and was able to bring salt and pepper. I had a mezcal cocktail and the house margarita. Both were good. She enjoyed her wine. It was annoying that the ambiance was disturbed by a young manager pacing back and forth the front of the restaurant having a disciplinary/pep talk to a young female employee that was maybe not coming into her shift that night. Very unprofessional. Have those conversations in person with another manager present in private. We did get greeted at 4 pm by the senior servers walking through the restaurant. To begin with my review I want to state ghat I called on a Thursday to place a reservation for Saturday of the same week to celebrate our Anniversary. Over the course of the dinner she only appeared like 4 times. So be prepared to wait for the service which was horrible. The bone marrow was good but the tortillas were horrible. The sprouts that we ordered were so hard that I literally thought I was going to cut one and hit somebody's head. The mash potatoes was very disappointing with no salt. The pasta that my wife ordered was in pieces like eating left over pasta. The chicken on the pasta was good in flavor but the portion under was very salty. The filet mignon was good but overcooked. Overall, the experience was horrible, pricy and not recommended. I regret so much not reserving at Great American. At the end of the date I just wanted to leave and the waiter was nowhere to be found. When she finally arrived I asked for the bill and she quickly went to get it but it was just the receipt alone not even on the book or nicely delivered assuming this was a fine dinning restaurant. I paid and the cake and champagne never arrived like promised. It was going to be so embarrassing having to ask for it in front of my wife and not provided. Therefore, I never asked. We had multiple servers check on us. Ambiance in a Friday night is great. They have big monitors showing Mother Nature, lounge music, the service and food was excellent. Food was excellent. They cooked the steak to perfection. Truffle fries didn't even need ketchup. Tuna sashimi color was so rich, you could taste and see the freshness. HORRIBLE POLICIES - I will never dine here ever again. First off, I called to make a reservation and they stated there was no availability. I checked on line and there was lots of open time slots. I booked a reservation which required a credit card. It wasn't until after I booked and got the email confirmation that their fine print was shared stating cancelations within 48 hours will be charged $25 per guest. This is egregious. I understand a no-show fee, but within 48 hours prior is outrageous. Second, I'm a wine connoisseur. The WESO wine selection is pretty basic. Most high-end steak houses offer a corkage fee. I called WESO and they stated they do not offer a corkage fee and outside wine is not allowed. Third, the food was so-so. The roasted red pepper bisque was good, the rack of lamb was ok and the brussel sprouts were soggy and swimming in olive oil. Fourth, when the bill came, I paid with a credit card. My total was $123.36 for the night not including tip. I paid using my credit card. The next morning I was reviewing my receipts and at the bottom in small print was a notice stating credit card users will have their bill increased by 3%. I checked my credit card statement and I was charged $127.06 instead of the $123.36. This is not posted on their website informing diners prior. I was not informed of this when I got to the restaurant and my server did not highlight the policy when the check came. To increase my bill without informing me other than the fine print is outrageous. Businesses that push these costs on to the customer, without clearly informing the customer before dinning to increase their bottom line will never get my business. WESO is new and appears trendy but beware of the hidden underlying costs and poor policies that will leave you shorted while they line their pockets with more of your money. The ambiance isn't that great and the food is so-so. I would recommend anywhere else other than WESO just on their policies alone. About ten minutes later, I just decided to eat my mahi-mahi with the spoon and fork since I'd given up on the knife lol near the end of my feasting, she finally brought the dang knife oh man. The main dishes we had, like the appetizers, did not disappoint. My wife's steak was heavenly and my own meal was divine itself. I have no complaints about the food quality. Near the end they brought my wife a little piece of cake which I thought was a thoughtful touch...until I noticed they'd added that onto the bill. Would have been nice to know that we were going to have to pay for that before we were served it. Am I wrong? That's weird. She probably would've chosen a different dessert if she knew we'd be paying. The prices were fine. But the experience was a bit of a letdown and just weird at times. We were in town and went to Weso. It is well appointed inside with friendly staff. The food is sorely lacking. The appts were stale crackers with salmon or cherry tomatoes. I had the bone in rib eye and my wife had a filet. Both were heavily salted and burnt. I like salt alot but this was really salty and and tough. The sides were semi warm except the Mac and cheese. Just had a late lunch at Weso Steakhouse, they are part of the dining experience at the 2003 El Paso Wine Fest this year. I've been meaning to try it for a while and finally got around to it. First off, parking is a bit confusing because half of the West Star building is reserved and the other half is not, with two different elevators. If you go inside the building, you won't find Weso there. Use the outside elevator, which will take you to the ground floor where Weso is located. The parking is validated for 3 hours if you dine in. The restaurant has an intimate and comfortable atmosphere, although it can get a bit loud, especially if there are birthday parties. Even though there's a private dining area, there were a lot of birthday parties when I visited. The staff was great, working closely together and helping out in the open kitchen. It was nice to see everyone working together to ensure a smooth operation. I believe it's owned by Corralitos, so the crew has been working together for a long time. I was able to observe them as they prepared our meals, and I was impressed by their professionalism and precise movements. The staff and kitchen are well-trained. We started with the ceviche, and it was amazing. It had pineapple and coconut bits, and the leche de Tigre base made it sweet, sour, and creamy. It was a perfect 10 out of 10, extremely well-executed and delicious. Next, we tried the "Mexican truffle" huitlacoche empanadas, which are made fresh every day. The empanadas had a crispy crust, and the huitlacoche and cheese filling was generous. To enhance the flavor, you need to use the salsa macha provided. For my main course, I ordered bone marrow and sirloin tacos, and they came in a set of 3. The tacos had a tasty surprise with a "Costras" cheese crust. However, some parts of the meat were a bit chewy, which slightly affected my enjoyment. But the overall taste was still delicious. My friend ordered the Weso tacos with chicken, and she said they were extremely well-cooked, moist, and flavorful. To top it off, I ordered a mazapan carajillo, and it was strong. They don't skimp on the liquor here, that's for sure. One caveat to keep in mind is that Weso Steakhouse has an open kitchen, so sometimes the dining area can fill up with smoke. You might end up smelling like steak after your meal. Personally, I'm used to the Korean Barbecue experience, so it didn't bother me. However, if you're planning to dress up for your visit, it's something to be aware of. I also had the opportunity to witness a show at Weso Steakhouse when someone ordered the tomahawk steak. They bring it to your table and cut and season it right in front of you. It's definitely a unique and engaging experience that adds to the overall dining experience. However the food wasn't that great of the many things we ordered because it's didn't taste good, I feel like they were to busy trying to be fancy instead of tasty. My friends were in town so I took them here because I saw great reviews.. Im not from El Paso, I'm from California & South Carolina. I think that people here mistake a "fancy" steakhouse for "good food". The food was very bland and not seasoned, and they do not know how to cook a steak. I had an awful experience. The service was very slow. It took our waitress about 20 minutes to greet us after sitting then another 20 to bring out the dinner menus. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare, my steak was overcooked, probably about a medium and was a bit tough. I asked for them to recook it for me. Manager was nice enough to send me another steak...it took about another 20 minutes to get my steak, while the rest of the table had already finished their food. when the chef brought out the steak, she was physically annoyed, rolling her eyes as she brought it out. That was already another red flag to me, because why the attitude? Second time around, the steak was RARE. not only was it rare, it was salty as hell. Obviously the chef did that out of spite. So salty to the point where I couldn't even eat it. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog either how salty it was. I was so annoyed, we had been there for about 2.5hr already and did not want to wait any longer. Our waitress was always so hard to track down, when we did we asked for food boxes. Took her another 10 minutes to bring them and then she had difficulties splitting our check so that took her another 20 minutes to come back. I am not sure how this restaurant is a 3.2. I opted to have a celebration lunch after a court wedding with family and it literally became a nightmare. I want to preface that I had actually gone to eat prior during the time of day we would be doing the lunch to ensure service and food was great. My first experience was good it wasn't exceptional by any means as far as service, but the atmosphere was beautiful and the plate I got was good. I also noted the traffic in restaurant during that time which was no more than 3 tables filled at once. We made a reservation and the day of we had 3 more family members join us and instead of problem solving the host told me he didn't know how he was going to do it because we would block the walk way so I gave him the idea of shifting the table back which ended up working. As we sit down I notice that they don't have the lunch menus out it was only dinner menus and I ask why and they informed me that they were going through a price change so that's why they didn't place the lunch menus, but I just thought that was a bit unsettling that they made no mention of their lunch menu and had I not gone to eat lunch there before I wouldn't have known and would've been misled to pay dinner pricing. We ended up getting the updated pricing for lunch items verbally and ordered. Our meals started to come out in small quantities, my plate was one of the first plates and my steak was cold, the rest of the table was still waiting for their plates so we all did not get to enjoy the meal together. Some people only got their sides and had to wait for their main entree for a long time. We also didn't know their were shortages of food until the food started to come out. They apologized saying that because it was after Mother's Day they had ran out of a lot of items on the menu. We returned all the steaks because they were all cold and we had to return an order of tacos because they kept messing up what the meat was. I went early to the restaurant to have them hold a small wedding cake and they placed it in the fish fridge because when I got it back during the lunch the box smelled like fish!!! At this point I talk to the manager and I tell him that we had selected this establishment to celebrate something special and that I didn't understand why there was such a delay in serving our items and the quality of service since we were the only table there. Not to mention there were several staff standing around and they only assign one waiter to our table of 15. The manager offered us desserts to make up for the issues and offered to comp the steaks because we returned our plates. At the end our waiter still tried charging us for the steaks that we didn't eat and after a certain point we no longer saw the manager. As the organizer of this lunch I was completely embarrassed that this happened on such a special day. It's a shame that the beauty of the space doesn't match the quality of service or food. Such a great experience at Weso! We came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and had such a pleasant experience. Our server, Juan, was wonderful! Very helpful, kind, and attentive so I would definitely come back again. My favorite side dish was the brussel sprouts with onions and the mac. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

I thought it was over priced. And I don't hesitate spending on great dining. One of my favorite restaurants is Perry's but I spent more here at Weso with way less quality service and food, in my opinion. The lobster tail was totally over cooked (super tough) and they didn't even provide butter for it. Service was a bit slow yo start. Lots to work on here. read more

My daughter and a son took me to Weso on 20 Nov for my birthday. Daughter had a fillet which was good; son had a tenderloin which was marginally acceptable; and, I ordered the bone-in New York prime steak. I say ordered because I'm not sure what was served ... it definitely wasn't prime and was unlike any New York or other steak I have ever had (and I'm 86, so that's a few). My fault, I should have rejected the steak as unacceptable when it was served. Steak was about 1/4 inches thick (more like a piece of roast beef), half the surface area outside the bone was gristle or fat, and the actual meat was very difficult to cut even with a steak knife. No way this was prime. I have no idea what it actually was, aside from suspecting it was a piece of meat. I ordered medium rare but meat was too thin to even determine that. It clearly never should have been served and to say it was overpriced is an understatement .. it was not worth any price. And, the baked potato was cold when served ... so all in all not even a 1 on a 1 to 10 scale. The waiter, by the way, was attentive and responsive (not his fault I didn't speak up) but to his discredit he never should have served that meal. Would I go back ... obviously not. Would I recommend this restaurant to others ... again obviously not. Unfortunate they stay in business ... too many good restaurants and this definitely isn't one. read more

Wow! I am so upset that I am barely discovering this place. It checks ALL the boxes for me. The decor is beautiful, the big booths are luxurious, and the atmosphere is just perfect! From the second you walk in and are greeted by the host till the time the meal was paid for the service was great in all aspects, orders were taken correctly, water was always topped off, and drinks were always refilled. If there was a kitchen delay the staff was attentive to relay that information. Now let's get to the good stuff. The FOOD.. next time I come back I am ordering far more food, skipped appetizers today but the main courses, and sweet tea, ASTOUNDING. My wifey got the lobster truffle Mac and cheese with some cocktails that she absolutely enjoyed. I got the Waygu steak, with a side of Mac and cheese with some sweet tea. This is my new favorite steak in El Paso! Can't wait to go back and try some appetizers and deserts. read more
