I honestly wasn't even sure if I'd been to a Texas Roadhouse before. Maybe it was Texas Roadhouse, maybe Saltgrass, maybe something else. Either way, I had definitely never been to the Texas Roadhouse on the West Side near my house. It always looks chaotic. Long lines, packed parking lot, people waiting outside. During COVID we did the family meal deal a couple of times because it was a great value, but that was curbside only. I'd never actually sat down inside. My kids have been doing well in school and a friend mentioned their prime rib. I'm a prime rib person, so that was enough to convince me. I signed up for their VIP program and noticed you can put yourself on the waitlist ahead of time. Highly recommend doing that. We arrived about five minutes before our check-in time, checked in easily, and were inside almost immediately. We waited maybe ten minutes to be seated while people outside were clearly waiting much longer in the cold. Inside, it's exactly what you'd expect. A themed, commercialized roadhouse look. Chain steakhouse vibes, loud but energetic. We were seated in one of the smaller side rooms, which I appreciated because it wasn't nearly as noisy. Service was fast and friendly. Drinks came out quickly, though $8 for a beer felt steep. My kids ordered the Ranger meals, which are basically tween-sized steaks. My husband calls them minute steaks because they disappear fast. I ordered the smallest prime rib, which was still a generous portion, and my husband went with the sirloin. Everything came with two sides. We did mashed potatoes, mac and cheese as an upcharge, and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was actually really good. Crisp, well dressed, and probably the best thing before the main course. The rolls were fresh and buttery. My kids didn't care for the cinnamon butter, but my husband absolutely loved it. We asked about the peanuts but weren't sure if they were complimentary, and it felt unclear, so we skipped them. Our server was kind and attentive but didn't seem very familiar with the menu. When we asked what the little star icons meant, she said they indicated the most popular items, which wasn't accurate once we read more closely. She also couldn't really speak to the beers. She may have been new. The bus staff handled most of our refills, which I actually appreciated. It felt like a team effort, but with a menu that thick, a more experienced server would have helped. As for the food, it was fine. Not top-tier steakhouse quality. There was some gristle, but the meat was cooked to the doneness we asked for across the board, including the kids' steaks. I genuinely enjoyed my prime rib. The sides were solid. All in, it came out to about $100 for a family of four. I can see why people go. It's predictable, fast, reasonably priced for steak, and works well for large groups or out-of-town guests who want the "Texas" experience. That said, I couldn't help noticing how many local restaurants struggle while chains like this stay packed. There are local spots with just as good quality, even if they can't compete on volume or price. If we don't want the city to turn into nothing but national chains sending profits out of state, we really do need to support local restaurants when we can. I'll be on the hunt for more local prime rib options. And yes, I've had Ripe Eatery. It's very good, but it's also limited to Mondays and sells out fast, which makes it tough to plan around. Overall, Texas Roadhouse delivered exactly what it promises. Nothing more, nothing less. read more

Absolute trash, and they like to gaslight their customers. Save your money and eat at a better steakhouse. First off we were seated quickly enough and ordered. The problem came when the food arrived, my steak must have been smashed into the grill with a hydraulic press, because when it got to the table it resembled a hamburger. I also ordered green beans as a side which I found a hair in. The server took it to the manager came back and basically called me a liar by saying "We looked at it under the light and it was not a hair." Like c'mon man, I know what a piece of hair looks like vs. a piece of the green beans skin. So EF this place and the manager. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was also lazily done, none of the pork was properly shredded, they just threw huge chunks of the pork butt onto the sandwich. If I could give a zero I would. read more

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing dining experience from start to finish. The hostess was extremely short and bordered on unpleasant, which set a poor tone right away. Our server seemed disengaged and inattentive either impaired or simply uninterested in serving us which made the experience uncomfortable. My steak was cooked well done despite being ordered medium rare, and my salad was missing key ingredients. After sending food back, no one checked on us. The manager appeared to be stretched thin, working both front and back of house, but never came over to follow up or address the issues. To make matters worse, our server disappeared entirely and never dropped a check or explained that payment was expected through the tablet at the table. We intended to pay cash, but due to the complete lack of communication and customer service, that wasn't even possible. Overall, the food mistakes and poor service made this visit frustrating and unwelcoming. Was in town for business and we stopped in for dinner. First off this place is busy!! It was a little after 5:30 on a Wednesday evening and the place was near to putting people on the wait list. Our server did a great job, they kept our drinks full, checked in occasionally to see if we needed anything and had our food out to us pretty quickly. I had a single grilled pork chop with a loaded baked potato and corn. The chop was okay, not bad but not great and my baked potato was pretty salty but well cooked and was obviously fairly freshly baked and hadn't been sitting in a hot cupboard for hours. Like I mentioned earlier they were really busy and it was certainly not quiet. The noise level is pretty load and there are people moving around the whole time. I would say if you want a fairly good meal served quickly and don't mind a lot going on around you while you eat you will like TRH. read more

After a quick event at school, we joined some friends for one of their family traditions. On Tuesday night we didn't have to wait too long to get a table. When the boys and I arrived, the hostesses were very friendly and let us go look to where our table was. We sat down and Kayla checked on us for drinks. Kayla was a fantastic server. When the rest of our party arrived, she took our order and made sure to keep the rolls were fresh and hot. I ordered a 12oz Ribeye, medium rare, with a loaded baked potato and a cup of chili. It came out quickly. I took a couple of bites of the chili and then dumped the rest into my potato. It was all very good. The place is loud, with a mix of music, the occasional cheers of the wait staff. It's a fun time. They have plenty of beer available, and the margaritas are pretty large. Great food and great service let down by a couple things which amounted mostly to a couple misfires on the menu and mistakes in bringing what was asked for. The steak fries are not crisp at all they could improve things just by asking if you want them crisp, instead they were soggy. The baked potatoes are too small and one person didn't get what they ordered but they're nice about bringing what they wanted. Other sides: I can't say I recommend the mashed potatoes either but the salads are a good size. I have been in town for 6 days now. Been to this Texas Roadhouse every single night as it's near my hotel, and their food is typically good. The service has been great. 1st through 5th night food was all fine...now 6th night Saturday 7/12/25. Made a huge mistake, and had the worst, or certainly one of the worst meals ever. I WOULD NOT order the shrimp. The kitchen should know if the shrimp is mushy, and smells fishy it's not worth serving. Instead they sent it out. I could barely eat the first one, tried a 2nd...same. Awesome restaurant! We were a party of five on a Friday around 6:30 pm. It was a wait of about 10 minutes, not bad at all. Hostess was very nice. Our waitress Christy was very kind and funny. We felt so very welcomed here. The atmosphere was pretty cool, not too loud, not too quite, football games were on. Various TVs around the restaurant. The food did not take too long either. Most of us had some type of steak. They were all delicious, full of flavor, cooked to perfection. I also tried their Margaritas with an extra tequila shot! Amazing drinks. As we were entering the hostess took us to a dirty table. As we refused to sit on that table we were ask to go back to the line just take us back to another table. The table had a napkin and a knife on the floor that no one noticed even after we left. We also noticed that the bus boy are cleaning the tables without any kind of sanitizer he was using the same towel to clean the tables as the seats wich I think is disgusting. In general the place looks dirty and managed should be putting more attention to how the restaurant look. read more

Thanks to Texas Roadhouse for supporting our military. We received a coupon for a free Veteran's Day meal, saved the coupon and decided to take it on the road with us as we traveled to Austin TX and back before the coupon expired. We found a TR along the road in El Paso just along the 10 freeway. Literally, exit the freeway and drive into the parking lot from the freeway exit, then enter the freeway just as simple as the exit. Couldn't have been more convenient. The place was super busy on this lunchtime Saturday just afternoon. We met our server, Dallas, and told him he was the second "Dallas" we had met in Texas in just three days of traveling through the state. He also thought that was pretty amazing, however "Dallas" seemed to be a popular name in Texas . . . go figure. The other Dallas was a female bartender when I first started the trip and stayed in El Paso heading the other direction. Hell, what are the chances of two service employees with the same name "Dallas" in El Paso? As for the food and service. Food was decent except the chili had to be returned to the kitchen and heated up in the microwave. It was served just above room temperature. It was much better when heated up to proper serving temperature. I was confused at the service since there were employees everywhere, and many of those employees would congregate next to the servers' station to talk, chat and who knows what, but passing the day away. There's always cleaning to do. Seemed like way too many employees. Oh well, a nice lunch and very worth the military appreciation. Thanks Dicks The free military menu item I chose was the 6oz sirloin steak that came with two sides and a drink. The steak was actually cooked a perfect medium rare and was tender. It came with a loaded (marshmallow and cinnamon) sweet potato that we have never tried before . . . different, but good. I waited 40 minutes for an online order and for it I received two chicken fried steak meals that were burnt crisp. And what's the one item we all go to this restaurant for.....the yeast rolls. Well I got plenty of butter but zero rolls. I called and spoke with the manager (W***y) who offered to reimburse me OR replace it and throw in a dozen rolls plus an appetizer. I feel for the time it takes me to drive to the restaurant, wait for the food to be ready and returned home AND then do it all over again is not worth a dozen rolls plus appetizer. Not my first rodeo here but first time writing a review for this one. This is my place for ribs.. no doubt. The bread is bomb. Anyone who says different needs to check their taste buds! They serve it with cinnamon butter and melts so good. ( you can ask for regular butter but boo who wants that!?) My wife ordered the 5oz salmon well done and it was perfect with a side of tasty rice. We ordered the combo appetizer with taters, fried pickles and mild chickens was not impressed. I would not order it again. I think the tater skins would be better if it was twice baked. The cheese is waaayyy too much and by it gets to your table it's cold and not melty. I have tasted the side salad, good; the Mac n cheese, really for kids (it's the Kraft one, though today it looked different, better different); the loaded mashed potato delish. *Weekends it does get full so wait time can get more than 30 mins. read more

The last two times I had been to Texas Roadhouse it was awful, so much so one of those times that the Manager comped my meal because even they could see it was uneatable (different El Paso location that time than this). I got a $25 gift card for Texas Roadhouse last week and, even though I told myself I'd never go back, I figured I wouldn't let it go to waste and so I thought to use it this evening. It was packed full of people because of UTEP graduation the guy who sat me said, which made sense and was fine. He was nice, and even so it wasn't more than a minute or two to be seated. The meal is where the problems came again. Ordered water and a beer, then got a ribeye smothered with mushrooms and the sides a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. I knew when I got the salad things probably were no different, could have just been my luck, but significantly smaller than in the past and compared to other tables nearby. Tasted fine though so figured it is what it is. Until the steak came with onions instead of mushrooms which he took back and got fixed. They must have just pulled the mushrooms out of a pot or something because 1) they were cold, and 2) seasoning is nice but it was so overkill I could barely swallow it. Made my stomach hurt a whole lot as well. The steak still had the slight taste of the onions which made the entire steak unappetizing. The meat itself was undercooked but flavor of itself from what I could tell through the mushrooms and onion problems would have been pretty good had it not been garbage. As for the mashed potatoes, they weren't even mashed. I thought at first they had just sat for a good while but at the bottom it was just one large piece of potato, unmashed and rock solid. They tasted horrible as well. The waiter was really good, except for when he asked if I wanted a to-go box since he saw I ate hardly anything and I replied with "no thanks, it wasn't good whatsoever, I'd rather not" his only reply is if I'd like some bread to-go. So even though he was good I guess he could have actually paid attention a little more genuinely instead of go through the motions. Everything belonged in the trash except the beer and bread. I am more sorry for the person who gave me the gift card to have wasted their money here in the first place, than frustrated at myself for thinking it would be any different. Doubtful I ever return to a Texas Roadhouse and would be surprised to even hear back from this review. Update after I originally posted this review... now have food poisoning. Granted, my wife and I weren't expecting a "five star" experience here, but the dinner fell far short of even our lowest expectations. Almost everything (the steak, the beans, the potato) was disgustingly over-salted. Over-salted to the point of being downright unhealthy. My side order of beans came to the table almost cold. So I called for the waitress to reheat it. She brought it back 15-20 minutes later -- SAME TEMPERATURE! We will definitely not be returning to Texas Roadhouse restaurant! read more
