What a great spot! This restaurants is located inside the Solana mall that used to be called the Sunland Park Mall. It is on the main floor easy access. There is handicap parking at the entrance closest to the restaurant. They have a wonderful menu and a very cool vibe very I don't know maybe great Gatsby is from another era but it's very cool and chic. The food is amazing. They make a lot of of the bread themselves. They have fabulous muffins. The sandwiches are great as well as the breakfast so you can see. I've been here quite a few times lol. This is a great spot to meet with your friends to sit and catch up. The food was cooked amazingly and tasted delicious, and the atmosphere was decent, although nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience. My friend is a strict vegan and made it very clear to our waiter that he wanted a vegan matcha latte. He specifically asked what milk alternatives were available and stated that he wanted almond milk or soy milk. This conversation happened twice, and both times the waiter assured him that accommodating the request would not be a problem. Despite that, the waiter came across as very dry and uninterested, almost as if fulfilling customer requests was an inconvenience. When the latte arrived, my friend immediately knew something was wrong after taking just one sip. He then asked the person who prepared the drink what milk had been used, and the employee admitted that it was made with 2% dairy milk. For someone who follows a vegan diet, this is not a small mistake. The request was clearly communicated multiple times, acknowledged by the staff, and still ignored. What made the situation even worse was the response afterward. Neither the waiter nor the manager seemed genuinely apologetic or concerned about the error. Instead, it felt like they simply wanted the situation to disappear and for us to leave. Serving dairy to a customer who specifically requested a vegan drink is a serious lapse in attention and service. While the food itself was excellent, the lack of care, poor communication, and dismissive handling of the mistake left a very negative impression. Management and staff need to do better. read more

Not sure how things were in the past but this was definitely a 5/5 experience for me. The restaurant itself is beautiful especially for a mall restaurant, looks like there are ample side rooms for large parties as well. The hostess and waitress were friendly, food came out fast and burgers were delicious, honestly nothing at all to complain about so surprised the yelp reviews are low. I'm pretty sure I'll be back and it was a pleasant surprise to find this in a relatively empty mall. read more

It had been a long time since I visited The Greenery. We actually just stopped by for dessert today. On this Saturday before Easter Sunday, it was mostly empty at about 2:30 pm, so no wait - always a plus. From the beginning the service was great - friendly and sincere. The ambiance is probably one of my favorite things. It feels like a hideout in the woods, with a commercial kitchen, so even better. We ordered coffee and dessert. The chocolate cake was yummy and the specialty coffee was perfect. No substitutions or add-ons were needed. The prices were also decent and fair. While we were there briefly I was impressed all over again. So much so that this may be my meeting spot when on the west side of town. I want to try more of their menu items. (I think I saw chile enogadas on the menu.) read more

First, I want to say that the salads and food items are good here. However they used to have a butternut squash salad here that was great and they got rid of it. We like to pick up food from here because finding good salads in El Paso is so rare. The wait time isn't always what they say. We always have to wait for pick up orders because they are never ready when we go in to pick them up. Also, it's very difficult to get anyone to answer the phone. Several people in our family tried to call and the phone just rang and rang, and nobody answered. We were persistent and finally someone picked up the phone. read more

Overall a good experience for Valentine's Day at the Greenery. The place was absolutely packed. Service was on the the slow side but this was to be expected. I had the meatloaf with green chili which well prepared. Comfort and winter food par excellence. Great company with Ricardo Baraza the owner of Wine Attitude. This restaurant comes up as one of the top restaurants for vegan friendly foods in El Paso, so naturally I had to check it out during my recent visit. First things first, they are located inside a mall with a very cozy ambiance. Second, they had a separate vegan menu - Whattt?!!!! I was impressed! They had a lot of options on the vegan menu made with impossible. I had the spicy Thai salad, and didn't want to have cold veggies so they were very gracious to sustitute greens with rice for me. It was decent, a bit too sweet for me. Lastly, and most importantly - they had a seasonal vegan dessert option that was delicious - a pumpkin muffin. I opted to go for the regular butter and whipped cream on the side. 4 stars because of the sweetness in the entree. Overall, recommend the place. read more

This place is a favorite of ours. Comfortable booths, very good food. I left off one star because they closed early one time when we got there an hour ahead of closing. It is disappointing when management thinks this is acceptable. The servers are always nice and attentive, and will seat you where you choose. We still highly recommend it. read more

I decided to try the Greenery while wondering around the mostly vacant sunland park mall. I wish this place was in a better location. However, that's about the end of the negatives. The Greenery is such a horrible place for waits. My friends went recently, and they had the worst experience, not even eating. They said a 30 minute wait, but they ended up having to wait 2 hours. Not to leave out, their hostess told my friends to come back in 30 minutes, but after returning, unfortunately, their table wasn't ready. We have been frequenting The Greenery for years as it has been one of our favorite El Paso restaurants. The food is still good. However, the prices are getting out of control (the cost of several menu items have increased much higher than the inflation rate). To top it off, they have now added a 3.5% surcharge for paying with a credit card. There are multiple issues with this practice: 1) We were not notified of this charge until after our credit card was processed so we were not able to avoid this charge by paying cash. 2) This is just plain tacky. 3) This is a violation of the merchant agreement between the restaurant and the credit card processors. read more

They say the first impressions are the lasting ones. My first impression of this place came in the form of an Official Yelp Event designed to promote the revamped interior decor of the restaurant and showcase the menu; the latter of which consisted of a 6 course meal very obviously featuring either the chef's personal favorites or their most successful dishes. At that time, my 4 star rating reflected the event itself, how well put together it was, and the menu items that were featured that night. Upon return, I was looking forward to trying other menu items because I can tell how passionate the sous chef is about his craft and the heavy emphasis on using only fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, on this particular date night out, it seems his line cooks (or whoever) were asleep at the wheel. Because whilst the menu has some seemingly mouthwatering options, the execution did not meet anticipated expectations. But it wasn't all bad either. Time to break this down. For an appetizer, I tried the potato soup. I was excited to try this because when I sampled the green chile Poblano soup on my previous visit, it was excellent. The potato soup, however....was not. It was bland as f*ck and tasted of nothing. Not even the tablespoon of salt I poured into this thing could save it. Now, I'm not sure if this is how they construct ALL their other soups. I know they rotate different soups depending on the day of the week and we almost came here the day prior; which would have meant tasting their clam chowder (I can't even imagine how that would have turned out). Oh, I almost forgot to mention the soup had no potatoes, bacon or cheese in it. It was just this...bland, stoic potato broth. Basically, it tasted like baby food and could possibly be the worst soup I've ever had. For tonight's main course, I originally wanted to try the chicken cordon bleu...until I saw they had apparently taken it off the menu from whenever Lisa H. came here and took a photo of said menu. "No matter. I'll play it safe." I thought to myself and got the fish and chips instead. The fries were actually pretty good. They compliment the fish nicely, which was cooked properly and flaked the way it was supposed to. I also love how this restaurant makes their own tartar sauce from scratch. Because it basically added flavor to the fish overall. The batter, while fine texture wise and not too thick, could have used some seasoning. My wife also got the chicken pot pie upon my recommendation. Sadly though, she had to send it back because it was apparently bland. What's strange is once again, this dish was better executed the first time I tried it on Yelp night. I dunno what the hell happened tonight, but the overall theme was: lack of seasoning. What also doesn't help is the fact the service was lackluster. The waitress seemed disinterested in being attentive, almost like she just wanted to go home. I'm sorry, but anytime I have to ask for the check, I automatically remove a star from a place. I couldn't help but notice how desolate the place was and it was 6pm on a Saturday. Strange, considering how elegant the decor is. It just makes the place come off as pretentious since it doesn't seem to be drawing in any additional customers. No wonder this restaurant is located inside a mall. The big question: would I return? Probably not...unless I was already in the mall shopping and even then...I'd make sure to only come back on a Thursday when they have the Poblano soup featured; or maybe try their breakfast. Look, I take no joy in disliking this place. But execution must count over the sheer fact you're using fresh ingredients. I'm giving The Greenery 2 potatoless cups of potato broth out of 5. read more

There are a variety of choices along Sunland Park as it passes the mall, but we decided to try the Greenery, tucked just inside a main mall entrance. The place is large, but divided into smaller sections with a decor that minimizes reflected noise and actually makes conversation possible. Our waitress was attentive and prompt and knowledgeable. My wife ordered a taquito plate. The taquitos were delicious with a light tortilla wrapping and several small dishes of salsa and other accompaniments. I ordered a salad with house dressing. It was tasty and generous. It appears this place is overlooked and underrated among the other nearby choices. We will stop in here again! read more

The sandwich was really good the bread was Jaír perfectly toasted. It was turkey Swiss cheese and avocado ALL I NEED, came with any side you want Mac n cheese, sweet potato fries, salad and others but I had to go basic with beer battered fries. My friend ordered the onion soup and she said it was one of the best she's had because it was creamy and well seasoned. If lunchtime traffic slows down service, it's time to evaluate the procedures and make adjustments to speedvthings up during these times. Im no expert but perhaps some of the folliwing could help: * Carry the tickets (bills) in a convenient pocket along with other common items that guests need. * Have aerving stations nearby wirh extra supplies including to-go boxes. * Ice water decanters on the table when business is brisk. * Even when you're busy, find a way to serve coffee hot. We got only COLD. Obviously it had been sitting for a while. No coffee is better than cold coffee ( when expecting it to be hot). read more

We have been coming here for years. Loved it. Unfortunately, when we went last week, we were seated near the kitchen and we spent the whole meal listening to the cook slam the bell, yell at the waitstaff, and curse. My husband asked to speak to the manager (something he never does after years of working in the food service). He was so upset at how abusive the cook was. We were told there was no manager. So there was no one in house to protect the waitstaff from an abusive chef. Families with children were there in earshot of everything. Working with the public is hard enough without the chef making it worse. We will not be back. read more

Ordered take out and was a little disappointed about how limited there menu is right now but they said they should be adding more items soon. We got the salmon, thai noodle salad, and sweet potatoes fries. Salmon was awesome and the coconut rice added such a great flavor to the dish. The Thai noodle salad was okay. I would have liked it with more noodles and spinach leaves instead of regular lettuce but the dressing was good. The sweet potato fries were again very good and perfectly cooked! They gave us a raspberry muffin with our order as well which was a very nice surprise to see when we brought the meal home. The muffins are awesome! read more

We went to eat at the Greenery on February 16th and Bianca was our server and gave us the absolute WORST customer service! For starters she seemed like she may have been high or on something because she couldn't remember anything we asked for. My mom ordered the chile poblano soup with the tortilla strips on the side. One of the other guests in our party ordered a margherita pizza. After walking away from our table she came back a couple of minutes later and said, "my bad, did you say you wanted a pepperoni pizza or margherita?" we responded "margherita." Then the food came out and mom's soup arrived with the tortilla chips inside it instead of on the side as she had asked. Then the pizza came out and it was pepperoni not a margherita. She apologized and said it was the kitchen's fault which was a complete lie because when we received our check at the end of the meal she had rung it up as pepperoni in the POS. My mom asked for a side or tortilla strips to go with her soup and Bianca said she would be back with them. Well she never came back, when she finally walked by our table she noticed my mom had finished her soup and then she remembered about the tortilla strips and told my mom she would be back with them. My mom told her she didn't need the strips because she had already finished her soup. Then Bianca told her she would fill my mom's bowl up with some more soup and bring tortilla strips on the side. I'm pretty certain that is not even allowed. The entire time she served us she didn't clear a single empty plate off our table. Next, we asked for to go boxes which she took forever to bring and brought two when we had asked for three. Once she came with the boxes we asked for our check. She took at least 10 minutes to bring our check and when she did she dropped it and said thank you as if we had already paid and walked away. We could have literally walked out without paying and left because she didn't even realize she was just dropping off our check and we hadn't paid yet. My mom had to flag her down to give her payment. We gave her a visa gift card to pay. She couldn't figure it out so we ended up giving her a debit card because we didn't want to wait any longer. It was a shitty experience overall and we won't be back. I hope the owner will talk to Bianca because she needs a ton of improvement. Another thing to note- we ordered nachos and the menu says refried beans but they actually use whole beans. If I had known this I wouldn't have ordered them. read more

Swung by The Greenery for a very non-romantic Valentine's dinner with a colleague. The place has a nice aesthetic and was luckily not terribly busy. We were able to be seated right away. My coworker got the chicken pot pie with green chilies, which she thought was excellent. I had the tamales with the green chili and also a red sauce. The red sauce was okay, but the green chili was amazing. The little side of salsa or Pico that came with my dish was also excellent. I could have had an entire gallon of that on top of my rice and beans. Impressively vegetarian-friendly menu for Texas. I would definitely recommend. read more

Had been looking forward to coming here for some time and hate to say I was disappointed. Unfortunately the customer service here needs fixing and the prices are way too high for this kind of place. We waited 45 minutes for a kids hamburger and entree. There was no compensation for the long wait, not that we expected free food, but how about bringing out a complimentary muffin for the screaming kids who should have had their food 30 minutes ago? The server didn't seem to care that he served everyone around us who arrived later before us. Wheb the food finally came, it was what you would expect, nothing more. Nothing less. I play in a weekly mahjong group that meets here and I really appreciate how they allow the group their own room and give us as much time as we want to play. Our regular server Marisa, is amazing and has a knack for remembering what everyone likes and does an excellent job of taking care of all of us every week. This week, one of the ladies was in the restroom when she came around to take our orders and when the food arrived, that lady thought she had been forgotten. Nope, Marisa knew what she always ordered and put in the order for her! Now that's what I call personalized service! As for the food, I've tried the club sandwich, fruit, and fries, and it's always fresh and delicious! The fries are beer battered and especially yummy. Their salads look really tasty and a lot of the other ladies order soup which must be good because it's what they get every time. Went here for the first time yesterday and ordered the quinoa and roasted butternut squash salad. I was so excited for the squash, but it ended up not even be cooked/roasted at all. It was plain and uncooked. So icky. The portion was huge which was nice and I got the pumpkin muffin which was good. I would not order a salad again though. read more

Greenery, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Ok, so I'm exaggerating a bit, but I've been coming to The Greenery since before I was born. Literally, this was my mother's go-to lunch spot when she was pregnant and the Greenery was inside of The Popular on Sunland Park mall. So having The Greenery around for the whole 28 years of my life is a blessing. Now, I personally think the food is great. To have been going for 28 years and to say I actually haven't tried everything on the menu is a sin. But I have tried to vary without sticking to my favorites. Yes, the food is not high-end nor is it the best food I've tried, but it is really darn good, because to me it's comfort food. The service has always been fantastic. I'm sure once or twice out of the gazillion times I've been the service was probably slow, but I cannot complain. Where can I complain? The restaurant where it stands now opened probably 15/16 years ago (don't quote me on that figure) and it literally feels like they haven't paid one cent to remodel. Overall the place is nice, the decoration the look etc. BUT...when you sit at the booths, some of them are sunk in or have tape on them, some tables are scratched, and the bathrooms are horrible. The bathrooms are clean, but they seem dirty, because the toilet seat covers are different colors, I guess from being replaced for being broken, the color of the bathroom is weird and gives off a bad impression. I don't know, to me the look of the place matters a lot sometimes. That's the only reason why I wouldn't give it 5 stars. Because other than that, I truly love the food. The soups are amazing as well as the sandwiches. The pizza's, the salads, the muffins, the appetizers, the Mexican food, the burgers, and I could go into detail. I overall highly recommend The Greenery. To me they have stayed consistent throughout all these years. read more
