Ordered the 3 fish taco special. Took and hour to get my order. Food was good. Service was extremely slow. Filled up on chips and salsa. Was tnot hungry when food came, but ate anyway. Tacos were good. Normally it's does not take an hour to get 3 tacos. No excuse. Should have compensated for the meal. But did not. I know this isn't the typical, but it was a horrible experience. My time, my money..not worth it. read more

A group of us came here for a work lunch at 12 p.m. on a Tuesday and the place was full - good sign. We were seated in the back room with the animal heads - they even have a jackalope! Their chips are salsa are fresh and so good! Also, ask for pico de gallo when they deliver your salsa. The pico has good chunks of tomatoes and green onions - it was some of the best pico I've had. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced. I ordered the fajitas lunch plate for $8. The chicken was tender and the peppers were smoky crisp. The rice could have used a bit more spice but, it was very fluffy and had a good texture. Their other lunch specials were taco, burrito, and enchilada dishes and are $8 to $10. I thought the service was a bit slow. My co-worker, who's a regular, said that this was not characteristic of them and they were probably slammed at lunch. I'll take his word for it. I'll eat here again - the food was that good. read more

Best Mexican Restaurant in town! Food is amazing and authentic. The staff are always courteous and welcoming!

My wife and I ate here for lunch about a week ago on a date and had a great time, I think we might have been the first couple in there for the day and everything looked great clean and fresh. I had a chili verde burrito and my wife have the lunch fajitas food tasted very good and looked very appetizing. I wish I remembered our waitresses name sorry but I still have to say she was very friendly and did a great job and everyone else in the restaurant seems busy. Great job team Casa Munoz we will be back read more

The enchilada lunch special I got was really great! My coworker ordered the Mexican pizza and it was very tasteful as well. The waitress was also very attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I would've given it 5 stars but I'm not a big fan of the location. read more

Although Sushi is my favorite food, Mexican food places high on my chart as well. Casa Munoz has great service and great tasting food. My favorite is the chili rellano.. Chips have always been fresh and their salsa is very tasty. This place is always busy at lunch time, so its best to stop in aroune 11ish. read more

Well I returned. I would like to say this time the chefs did good. Enchilada's were great. Brought them all the way to Los Angeles. To share wth family and friends I was never reimbursed for the other order that was messed up. But these enchilada's were good. So I would recommend the enchiladas. But take some money in your pockets. Because they are 450 each. I bought them ala carte. My total for 3 orders of Enchilada's by themselves was $43 dollars and some change. Your better off buying the 3 items plate it's 15.95. You get 3 items and rice and beans. Again try Enchilada's the sauce is great. But the price Ouch!!!! Hahahaha. read more

Loved it here. This is my second time here. I get their shrimp cocktail and it is so huge and so good!! My drink is always full and the waitresses stop and check on us frequently. Very nice family place. Not to mention unique decorations. Great place to stop in for lunch or dinner. read more

Casa Munoz - Mexican Near Me - Bakersfield, California

I've been coming here for 25yrs. The food has always been amazing. Today it was terrible. Their once best rice in town was hard & bland. I had carnitas which was nothing similar to carnitas. It was well done thin pork chops in some weird lemon & spice marinade. The other two adults joking me had their famous special burrito which is chili verde. Both were unsatisfied as well. It was dry & bland despite the sauce being fair. It was as if they just boiled the pork in water & dropped some sauce on top to save cost. The only compliment on that entire meal was the melted cheese on the top. Even the fries in the kids meal were flavorless as if they were dollar store frozen. The once delicious salsa has given way to something so spicy no one could eat it. Then the bill came! $70! For three adults & two children whose drinks were included in their meal. We all went to dinner Thursday night at Senor Pepe's & it was less than that for five adults & two children one of which had the most expensive item on the menu; with food that was at least worthy of bringing home to your dog. I will never again step foot in Casa Munoz & I'd advice you don't either. Stick to Loma Linda's, Si Senor or Senor Pepe's. Unbelievable. Service was amazing we had Julia. I pray she gets out before this place goes under. read more

This use to be my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Bakersfield, over the years, I'm assuming as the owner as gotten older and the younger generation has taken over the service has gone downhill. I actually enjoy the fact that the waiters and waitresses are allowed to let the art on their body show, I do not enjoy the attitude I receive from a specific waitress. Maybe (and I have mostly European ancestry) a Caucasian waitress isn't a good fit for Casa Munoz. I might give it one more try, but if I get her and her attitude again, by business will go elsewhere. Which is sad since I have been a customer her for over 25 years. read more

This is one of my families favorite places! We go here as often as we can (going tonight as well). The food is amazing, the staff is always so welcoming and don't even get me started on the margaritas! Times are tough with COVID but they make the best out of it. Love this place! read more

Its kind of a hole in the wall but don't let the looks fool you. I've been coming here for years for random lunches and sometimes dinner. The food is quick and amazing. The sopes and micheladas are my favorite. Never been disappointed here. The menu is very simple but they perfect it. read more

I found this place a few years ago while taking my friend to her cancer appointments here in Bakersfield. She loved to eat here and thought the food was delicious. I love this place! I always order the taco & enchilada combo and it's always very delicious. I like the restaurant atmosphere too. I'm very particular about the Mexican Food and I must say this place really cooks with love. Thank you for many great visits. I'm from Porterville and will gladly drive out of my way to eat your fine cuisine. The iced tea is fresh brewed which makes the visit even more pleasant. Very clean and friendly establishment, the service was great! The food was hot and came out fast and everything was delicious!

Great family, food and oh yah margaritas. We have been going to Casa Munoz for a long time and never had a bad meal. A true Bakersfield gem. Go visit them, set back, relax order a Special Burrito a Margarita on the rocks with salt. You'll be glad you did. read more

Food is great. Good price and great margaritas. Fill you up and a great place to bring the family to eat.

Always ask for Luis! He's the best! Came here for a late lunch with a couple of girlfriends. We had a wonderful time. The chips and salsa are both scrumptious. So is the food. I had a cheese enchilada with rice and beans that was yum! The enchilada sauce was a little sweet, but good and the cheese was just the right amount; not too little or too much. My two friends each ordered something off the menu. One had just a single enchilada with chili verde; with lettuce and sour cream. She was "mmm-mmm-ing" as she ate! My other friend had a single cheese enchilada with just rice. We ate and talked for two-hours! Our waiter, Luis, never once made us feel like we should leave. He joked with us and took pictures for us, kept our glasses full - he was awesome. They have a nice size parking lot outside. The inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Even though it has been at this location for 24 years, you wouldn't know it by the look of the place. They keep it up nicely. read more

Casa Munoz - Awesome Chips & Salsa! - Mexican Near Me - Bakersfield, California

Best Mexican Food in town!!! I have been coming here with my family since I was a little girl and everything about this place is great!! The staff are all so friendly and make your experience the best possible. The food is always served fresh and hot! And it tastes just as good as it looks! They have a pretty big back room that you can reserve for special occasions and unlike most other restaurants, you don't have to pay to do it!! Anytime I want some real authentic Mexican Food, this is the place I go! read more

The waitress was really nice and friendly but that was the only good thing about the place. It claims to be authentic Mexican food but that is far from the truth. The food looked like it was covered in fake yellow cheese and thrown in a microwave. The food was so bad and no one in my party was able to eat the food . You're better off spending your money elsewhere. read more

Great tacos! The staff is awesome and very friendly. A very comfortable restaurant and great value for the money. Will be back!

5 stars b/c everything is always good; food, service, conversation and the atmosphere! But today, I was a bit disappointed! Went for lunch and ordered the pizzadilla from the appetizer list, won't do that again! It was a cheese quesadilla topped with ground beef, that was all! I added lettuce and tomato but it still didn't help. It was really greasy and didn't have much flavor. I kinda thought it was going to be something similar to a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell, it wasn't! I'll stick to my usual order next time! read more

Worst Mexican restaurant in bako, Food is super greasy and soggy, service is horrible, if I could I'd give it no stars...there are other awesome mexican restaurants in the area, go to those read more

We started off with stuffed jalapeños, I wouldn't recommend them at all. They are just regular jalapeños you can buy at any food store. I was expecting more authentic home made appetizers. Once our food came out the presentation was beautiful and I felt like home. Chicken enchiladas were so juicy and flavorful, rice and beans are authentic which is a plus for me. All in all great homemade food, if your looking for people who care about food and family owned. This is the spot! read more

I can truthfully say the food was awful. The refried beans tasted like dish soap, the rice had a strange taste I have never experienced before and my ground beef tacos were literally wet and soggy with no seasoning in the meat, one large chunk of tomato (looked like the center of a tomato), lettuce and a very small amount of cheese. I ate one taco, a small amount of beans, and a fork full of rice. That was all I could stomach as I was getting nauseous. I hope this was an anomaly and the food is normally better but judging from some of the other reviews I don't think so. I noticed that most of the good reviews came from people that said they have been coming here for years. They seem to have a sense of loyalty in their critiques. Now the service. Could not have been better. Polite attentive and accommodating. read more

Really bad Mexican food! Haven't eaten here for over 10 years and went tonight for my brothers birthday and I still dislike the food. The beans were super salty and the salsa is no bueno. My husband ate shrimp fajitas and now he is sick. How can people say this place is good? read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Julie and her kids, Ralph, and a couple of others there really make me feel like family. I usually order a cup of posole as an appetizer (which is the best I've had to be honest) and finish up with some enchiladas or fajitas. I've tried everything on the menu and recommend it all! So good. read more

Mexican? Nope...more like American. There's no cheddar cheese in Mexican enchiladas better yet there's no cheddar anything in Mexican food. I tried hard to like there food, but the rice is over cooked the beans taste like canned. The interior looks old and smells like mold. If you consider Taco Bell Mexican Food...then I guess this is your go to place. read more

The margarita was a syruppy, tequila-y sludge. The chicken mole was boiled chicken in a dark brown chicken broth. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant as bad as this one :( The waiter was reasonably attentive, but nothing...nothing can salvage a shitty margarita and terrible chicken non-mole. read more

Service was horrible, waitress only went to take our order and brought out our food, never went back to check how we were doing. Her attitude was rude. Not friendly at all, I wasn't quite ready to order when she asked us and I told her I wasn't ready yet, she just stood there like rushing me to order so she wouldn't have to come back. It wasn't even busy. Food wasn't that great, coffee mug was small as fuck, seats were tore up and uncomfortable, and toilet in women's restroom was like 3ft high! Won't be coming here again!!! Y'all want sum good Mexican food and great friendly service, I recommend Los Molcajetes!!! read more

One of my go-to places for Mexican food in Bakersfield. The guacamole and salsa are great and there albondigas soup is the best I've found in town. They have a funny hat for birthday songs and they used to give you a Polaroid of you in the hat on your B-day. Not sure if they still do that. The service is good and there is plenty of parking & seating. Good family place. Not for a fancy date. read more
