I was craving taquitos and this restaurant has been there forever and I thought I would try i again, I hadn't been there in over thirty years. The taquitos were good and cost less than five dollars. They have lots of items to choose from on their menu. They have daily specials also. I will be going back to try some of their other items, they have good prices. read more

We've seen this place whenever we drive by and always wondered. I seen it on Yelp as somewhere we should try out so we did. It's very small but really clean. The waitress was really nice and took our drink order within minutes. The menu is small but perfect. Parking lot is not very big and bathrooms are outside. My daughter had the side of rice and she loved it. I had the Taquitos and enchilada. Both were very tasty but my favorite were the Taquitos. It took me back to Olivera street. They were big and you could tell they were not frozen like other place and oh that avocado cream was amazing. My husband had the chile relleno and enchilada and he said he loved his plate. Overall I give this place a thumbs up. I can't wait to try other menu options but I will always want those Taquitos. read more

Hole in the walls are always the best for real Mexican food! I remember this place back from the early 2000's & it hasn't lost its touch! They have THE BEST, most BOMBEST chile relleno burrito ever! Amazing! The service is friendly & fast. Este lugar sabe de comida buenisim read more

Well here I go again reviewing another tiny restaurant. When you drive by it, if you blink, you will miss it. HOWEVER. Being a tiny restaurant does not in any way take away from their delicious food. I was full halfway through my meal and could not stop eating. Now I am in a food coma. 6 Hard Tacos, 2 Burrito Supremes with Shredded Beef, 1 Large Rice, 1 6oz Guacamole, 1 6oz Salsa 1 Medium Bag of Tortilla Chips and a Pepsi. GREAT FOOD! Prices are high though. 68.32 for the meal. I will be back even with the high prices. The restaurant dinning room is tiny, so you may want to get the food to go. read more

I hope this place never stops serving and stays open forever. This is probably one of my favorite places to eat. I could never cook a meal at home as delicious as El Taquito. I moved pretty far away and I will still make the drive to eat here. There is so many places to get enchiladas or tacos from but I have never tried one with food as tasty as here. Tiny little hole in the wall, colorful, horrible neighborhood lol. I had to run off some kids for panhandling in the restaurant last time I was there but it's worth it. Trust me! read more

Oh I promise to get better about photos! They looked so good, we were hungry and then we gobbled them up! Super authentic and delicious! We had a party around the corner. We planned on spending about $150. They closed EARLY ( false advertizing online) and were RUDE ABOUT IT when we got there. Been coming here for almost 25 years! Can't beat the prices and the food and service is always good!

My first time eating at this restaurant was a life changer! After my first visit, I visited again about 3 times that same week. The food is so fresh and so flavorful. Not only is the food delicious... they have AMAZING staff. So sweet and kind. This restaurant is very welcoming and a gem of oildale. Not to mention their prices are a steal for the quality!! Love it. Thank you. Btw they learned my husbands name because I constantly order 3 extra meat beef tacos, light lettuce no tomatoes... it's right snd DELICIOUS EVERYTIME. thanks for the personable staff read more

Have been eating here since they opened 25 years ago. The food is authentic Mexican food very tasty. It is family owned, service has always been great, everyone working there is so friendly ! They are the absolute best mexican food place I have ever been to!! I grew up in Oildale, and I have been coming here with my family and friends since I was a little girl. Staff is unbelievably nice and helpful. I even recently had a birthday party over this last weekend, and I had ordered food for 20 ppl ahead of time, and everyone LOVED it!! Thank you for your great service:) read more

Best horchata in town. they actually make it there not from a mix. Best carnitas I've had. Pizole and carne asada was delicious too. Their tacos are $1.50 but they are really big. I wish my camera phone was not low on batteries when I was there because the food looked great. although, the good side of not getting photos is that I have to come back to take some! My mother(about 15 years ago) used to send me here to get chili rellanos, which she loved from here and she knew good mexican food. This place is really easy to miss and easy to write off if you're driving by but I find that as far as mexican food is concerned that is normally a good thing. they have improved since I was there last; more seating, new paint, and they take credit cards. They were WAY busier than they used to be. they also have sit down service and are very friendly. If you are thinking of going to La Tapatia close by across the street I would suggest you check this place out for their superior prices, quality, and authenticity. read more

So for the second time in a row we went in after church to get chili Verde burritos wet burritos and some chips and salsa it was $30 and when we got home there was no sauce on the burritos and they were full of rice and beans and some shredded pork. I called the owner and he told me oh you said that last time so just bring them back and will give you your money back which is totally not true $30 for two burritos and they're not at all what we ordered customer service is terrible the food is not what it says on the menu it also said that the burritos were 1150 and I got charged almost $30 do the math I let the owner know that we won't be coming back he just said OK so I don't recommend this place to go eat read more

The chorizo is not good everything else is ok , but the reason I'm writing this review is because the last three times I went there the literally got my order wrong and even after I told the lady at the front she didn't really do anything, the first time I let it go but already it was a little overpriced so the second time I called back and she apologized but that was it I always repeat my order to make sure she heard me right but still its like she isn't listening, this last time I called ahead so I can order ahead and she had me on hold for over 15 minutes so I just came not only did I wait forever but to top it off she got my order wrong and she didn't even care because she didn't charge me for it but I woudve paid the extra it was overall frustrating, this place was ran by two guys along time ago and they were very kind and good quality service but nowadays I would not recommend it! read more

This use to be our go-to place. We won't be going back. We sat down and ordered something that we order very regularly (we go every weekend) and were told they just don't have time to do that. We looked at each other and said, "should we go somewhere where they have time for us," And no joke he rips the chips and salsa back up and says "so you gonna go somewhere else or what?" It was so completely abrupt. We decided to stay and no joke, 0 other people walked in. So disappointed how much this place has gone down hill. read more

Mexican food in Oildale. It sounds a little scary, right? I shied away from this place because I was biased and imagined hillbillies in the kitchen making enchiladas with sloppy Joe sauce or something. However, my boyfriend and I saw the reviews and decided to try it out. We are very glad we did! The prices are reasonable and the people there are really nice and attentive. My bf got a burrito ranchero combo, taquitos ala carte, and water and I got a cheese enchilada and chile rollano combo with a diet Pepsi. It came with chips and salsa and 3 corn tortillas, and we were charged under $25! The food was super good. There was nothing we didn't like. (Then they started to play Mana, and I was overly happy.) It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and craving affordable Mexican food! Sure, there may be a couple of free range chickens in the parking lot (they dont care for pretzels, btw), but get over your bias like I did and try it! read more

So I found this hole in the wall with terrible a/c on a hot-as-hell-day in bloody Bakersfield but serves good tacos at good prices. I ordered the "daily special" 2 Carnitas tacos with rice and beans and a drink for $8.50. I substituted the drink for an iced cold beer because it was like 110 out and 95 inside. Oh, and did I mention the bathroom is like an out house sauna with no ventilation?! God, I thought I would die. So I'm waiting for my grub and I heard this dad telling his son, "What do you want a straw for, you're a boy!" Like boys can't drink from a straw?! And this coming from a manly dude that tells the proprietor "Let me ask my wife" when the proprietor asked if they were dining in or take out ?! Lol. And it gets funnier, the dude was asked, "where would you like to seat?" And he says, "let me ask my wife" lol. And he is teaching his son how to be a man?! read more

First thing when I walked in to pick up my to-go order, they were MICROWAVING my to go order. The food was not good and old. Cheese enchilada they just wrapped on old tortilla with some cheese and threw it in the microwave, Chile relleno was soggy, old, and covered in a wet sauce. I should of walked out and not paid the second they were caught microwaving my food, in a styrofoam container at that!! I am so confused at the amount of high star reviews. read more

Super Friendly and Fast! The cheese enchiladas were so good!! We did a pick up order and was ready in 10 minutes!

Have wanted to try this place for awhile now. Finally had the opportunity to stop by recently for dinner. It's a tiny restaurant that was filled to capacity when we visited. Fortunately, we beat the crowd so were seated right away by the nice staff members. We tried their Fish tacos and Chile Relleno. I've had better fish tacos elsewhere, but they were still above average so 3.5 stars. The Chile Relleno was also above average and 3.5 stars worthy as well. Both items were affordable, and the portions were just right. After browsing through their menu, everything appeared reasonably priced. Even though the restaurant is not located in the nicest area, we will still be returning. I want to try more items on their menu. To summarize this experience: 3.5 stars for the food 2 stars for the atmosphere outside the restaurant (sorry) 3 stars for the ambiance inside the restaurant 4 stars for the fast and friendly service Definitely check this place out! They are worth it! read more

This place was horrible. I first ordered a Michilada with Dos Equis. It was the worst thing I could taste. It tasted like tobacco. I didn't know a drink could taste like that. I don't know what it was but, no. Then the kids ordered a child's plate and it's very very small appetizers plate. Which I get the portion size but I not the plate size. I ordered a hard taco with Chile Relleno. It tasted like it had been fried in old oil. It was vey gross and greasy. read more

I didn't see what other reviewers saw. It was okay, but not spectacular. Especially with the multitude of other Mexican restaurants nearby. El Taquito is a teeny tiny restaurant. It reminded me of a converted Foster Freeze or something. Want dinner and show? Well, this is the heart of Oildale so the motley bunch of characters milling about makes for some great entertainment. I had the pozole, and while it was a large heaping portion, the flavor just wasn't there. It was bland and a bit greasy. Towards the bottom it got kind of grainy. Yes, grainy. It was like dirt at the bottom. It didn't taste good and didn't feel good on my teeth. Looking around, I'm glad I still have my teeth.... I will hand it to them, they are efficient. In less than 40 minutes we were in and out. So if it's cheap and quick Mexican food you're into, try this place. Just be wary of the pozole if you value your grill. read more

This place has the Best authentic Mexican food ever. We love the lengua tacos. So delicious!

Tried this place today based on the Yelp reviews that rang their praises. My friend did the ordering while I waited in the car. My test for a good Mexican restaurant is the quality and taste of the beans and rice. This place did not disappoint! The refried beans were seasoned perfectly, great consistency, tasty and no "bottom of the chafing dish" burnt smell and taste that is so common at many of these taco shops. I got two cheese enchiladas and they actually cooked them long enough to melt the cheese. Delicious and not too much enchilada sauce.....and the biggie...NOT GREASY! My friend and her hubs got carne asada street tacos and that's what I'm getting next time. The flavor of the beef was to die for and did not overpower the meat. Both of them were as impressed as I am. I can hardly wait to go again! read more
