We were seated right away. The restaurant was empty. We were there at 2 p m so the lunch crowd had gone and dinner crowd wasn't there yet I guess. The restaurant had nice roomy booths and had a homey feel. The waitress brought our menus and took our drink orders. The menus have really small printing and don't offer a la carte prices. They only list their meals and appetizers on the menu. We decided to order the steak fajitas to split. I ordered the bloody mary which was horrible. It was plain, nothing good in it, not even an olive and it tasted like celery salt. I asked if I could return it and just got a water. The steak fajitas were delicious. We had enough to split and take some home. The beans and rice were really good too. This salsa was just okay.

Casa Munoz is a spot I enjoy coming to during lunch with coworkers. When we are on a time crunch they are quick to get the order in, and get the food out quickly. The customer service here is amazing! Every person that works at this place treats their customers as if they are family. *Especially regulars* Gracie and Luis are my favorites here! They are quick, and already know what I usually get. When I'm seated Gracie is already there with an iced tea in her hand for me. I really appreciate this service where the staff actually gets to know their customers. The food is good not the best Mexican food I've had, but it gets the job done. The lunch specials have great prices, and the drink is included if you order off the lunch menu. They also have really good French fries. I usually order the chicken fajitas or the shredded beef tacos. The taco Tuesday special is also great. It includes 3 tacos and margarita for $9.99.

We went there tonight for carry out Support your local restaurants please. I called in my order told them when I would be there, it was ready and hot when I got there. The food was great and so was the service. The lady that took my order was very pleasant (Judy). They have a real nice family meal and the best Chile Colorado in town, bar none. Just wish I had a picture of all the food. THANKS!!! read more

This is one of my in-laws favorite places to eat after Sunday mass. So when it's their turn to pic it is this or two other places. The parking lot is really a headache if you have any vehicle bigger than a mid size sedan. It seems the whole outline of the parking spots should have been thought out a little better. Casa Munoz gives you that time capsule feel. When you walk into the restaurant it seems as if you traveled back in time to the 70s. The interior is dated along with the decor. As we walked in we were greeted by a very nice hostess. She sat us down and took our drink order. Shortly after the waitress came by and took our order. I went with the Chile verde plate. Portions are huge I'm a big guy and I'm unable to finish it. The Chile verde was generic the sauce wasn't very impressive although the meat was tender and not dry. The rice and beans are the typical but home made. I really liked that you can chose between whole beans and refried. The food is the typical Mexican American meal. They are adapted to the American pallet. The spices get toned down and the spiciness is almost non existent. Overall the service was great and the food is fulfilling. I grew up eating here. This place has great costumers, employees and all such. They are great. My parents have ate there ever since they first opened. We eat there for their birthday, christmas, thanksgiving, all holidays. We love you casa munoz! read more

I place an order for delivery and it was delivered with efficiency as well as professional service provided. The special burrito was perfect in flavor as well as appearance. The rice was perfect in texture and flavor as well as the pot beans were good!! The driver did an excellent job in communicating with me in keeping me informed of my delivery! I grew up eating at Casa Munoz and now take my family there, too. My husband is from Oklahoma so he had never eaten there before. Now that he has, it's all he wants for his birthday and any other special occasion. They offer great food and have an amazing staff. We try to eat there at least twice a month, especially during COVID, to help them keep the doors open. I can't imagine Bakersfield without Casa Munoz! read more

This restaurant was highly recommended and clearly has a loyal following. There was a high volume of patrons that seemed to be enjoying their dinning experience. Unfortunately my dinning experience fell short of expectation and I found the style of food not to my liking. Pro: The parking lot is fenced in and has a security guard. Pro: The dinning experience is unique due to the age of the building and it's obvious attempt to hold on to an aesthetic that's a bit retro. It's like time-traveling back 30 years. It was fun, not everything needs to new or hipster. Cons: Dated Food. I hesitate to be harshly critical of a local business and this style of Mexican food is favored by many people. read more

The cheese enchiladas have always been good. I ordered the enchiladas on Saturday and the cheese was hard. The quality of cheese was not the same. The quality of cheese is very important. The server was friendly and attentive like always. My granddaughter loved the train near the entrance. read more

We came here on a Friday afternoon after attending a funeral and it was late afternoon, so it was pretty cleared out. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth. Our drink order taken and chips and salsa delivered immediately and after a long service we were starving. It has been quite a few years since I've been here and I was shocked to see how much they've gone up in their prices. It is Mexican food and the lunch special was not so much a special. So I opted to order off the a la carte menu due to the fact I don't eat much. I chose two carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro with soft corn tortillas. And a Dr. Pepper to drink. My companions ordered enchiladas suizas and the other two crunchy tacos a la carte also. First when our food came out the enchiladas dish looked amazing and she said it was very good. The other one said her two crunchy tacos also were very good. Now mine, only one came out and said the other was being prepared, I just cancelled because I already filled up on chips and salsa and why wasn't both of them ready at the same time? Oh well their loss, but one soft taco and a Dr. Pepper for $7 seemed a bit high for mediocre food. I was disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants on this side of town. read more

The food is just OK. I love Mexican food and usually stuff myself but I was okay with leaving more than half the plate behind. I got the 1 item combo chicken enchilada with beans and cheese. The food didn't look appealing, it almost looked microwaved and it took them 10 minutes or less to bring out the food after we ordered which I thought was unusual. Huge portions and a reasonable price but quality isn't great. I've been here twice and both times food quality was the same but the service and margaritas were at least good. Really wish I could give a better review because I LOVE Mexican food read more

This is mi esposa's favorite Mexican restaurant. She worked downtown so this has been a go-to spot for years and years. Mi esposa is pretty sensitive to spicy food and finds the food here perfectly spiced. After so many lunches and dinners here the waitress knows what she wants when she walks through the door. It always feels like home when we eat here. read more

Dissatisfied, Disappointed,D- As a native of Bakersfield and a patron of this place in the 90's I thought one cant go wrong...Wrong I was there for Taco Tuesday ordered a strawberry margarita and 3tacos in which host ask 3 times what I wanted. what I wanted was tacos...what I got was 3 tacos that tasted the same carnitas, carne asada and when I addressed the host he brought a ticket minus 2 bucks for the tacos . new name twisted tacos ,food was blah , service well let's just say this is my last time coming here read more

Went today for lunch... the staff is on point! The only thing I wish they'd pay more attention to is timing. My daughter loves their chorizo nachos so we order that as an appetizer. We waited for quite a while and I told her they are going to make our appetizer the same time as the meal... and they sure did. By the time we served ourselves some nachos our lunch plates were placed on the end of the table. And we both ordered crunchy tacos, not so crunchy by the time we got to them! They should leave a solid 15 minutes between serving an appetizer and the meal! read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant. Loved the staff and the food was bomb. Haven't been here in years and I was disappointed. The chimichanga used to be huge. Not any more. I ordered a cheese enchilada no onions - tons of onion! Ugh. It was super busy and it took a long time to get our food and we didn't see the waitress until she brought the bill. Ordered the 3 fish taco special. Took and hour to get my order. Food was good. Service was extremely slow. Filled up on chips and salsa. Was tnot hungry when food came, but ate anyway. Tacos were good. Normally it's does not take an hour to get 3 tacos. No excuse. Should have compensated for the meal. But did not. I know this isn't the typical, but it was a horrible experience. My wife and I ate here for lunch about a week ago on a date and had a great time, I think we might have been the first couple in there for the day and everything looked great clean and fresh. I had a chili verde burrito and my wife have the lunch fajitas food tasted very good and looked very appetizing. I wish I remembered our waitresses name sorry but I still have to say she was very friendly and did a great job and everyone else in the restaurant seems busy. The place is pretty easy to find on the corner of 18th & R. There isn't a lot of seating for more than parties of 4. We were a party of 6 and we all smooshed into a horseshoe booth inside. There are only 2 of these booths available and they indicated they are not able to place additional seating at the booths. I imagine you might be able to put tables together outside for a larger party. We were greeted warmly, and while I felt overwhelmed by the amazing choices, the gal taking our order put me at ease by walking me through the menu board. We got amazing carnitas quesadillas and tacos and another dish that came on top of a mound of delicious fries. It's the kind of place where you order, then sit down and they bring you the food. We were well taken care of. Our drinks were refilled and they brought us 'to go' boxes. Their portions are generous and just tasty. And the iced tea was perfect! We ordered a full order of chips and salsa. That is extra. It was $6 for a full order ($5 for half) and these chips were well worth the cost. We will be back!

The prices are super fair. The food is amazing. We had burritos that were just packed with meat. We had chicken and beef. We also had chips and coffee to go. I have to say, their coffee is great. The service is so nice. This was our first time here so they were so helpful with the menu. We also took Papa Tacos and wow were they great. We loved the rice and beans. Before my guest even arrived, I was told the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes, which made it impossible to plan or order properly for both of us. About 30 minutes after being seated, the waitress asked to close out my tab and mentioned they were closing an hour and a half early, something that should have been communicated when I walked in so I could have chosen to go elsewhere. To make things worse, about 10 minutes before closing, they turned the lights all the way up and shut the music off, which made it very clear we were being pushed out. No one came by to offer boxes for our food (I had more than half my meal left), and my guest didn't even get to finish her drink. We were essentially rushed out before the already early closing time, with no proper send-off. Overall, the experience felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I appreciate that their margaritas are solid not super sweet. If I lived closer, I would probably be here a lot more often! The ambiance is relaxed and I appreciate some of the more modern touches in the otherwise natural feel of the restaurant. Service can be a bit slow at times, though I tend to not mind when I'm there catching up with friends or having a slow Sunday. The servers are generally very nice and caring.

I will never come to this restaurant ever again, big mistake! The restaurant has a political agenda. Instead of catering to all types of people it is enough to make anyone extremely uncomfortable with their political views displayed throughout the restaurant from the moment you enter the restaurant there is a sign against gun reform. Then you notice the staff wearing uniforms that say let's go Brandon on them. This is ironic since it's a Mexican restaurant on the east side lol. I understand everyone has the right to their own views but this is a shameful display. Not to mention the food is tasteless and has no flavor. DISGUSTING. The restaurant is dirty. If they worried as much about cleaning the restaurant as they did about spreading hate this place would be spotless. read more

I made birthday reservations all the way from Sacramento with Julie. She was amazing beyond words! Her exceptional skill and attention exceeded normal restaurant experience. She allowed us to celebrate my Aunts 76th birthday in style and in a family atmosphere. She made us feel like we were a part of the family. Mama Munoz graced us with her presence and welcomed us all well. The food was authentic hot and fresh!!! Thank you Ms Judy Ms Julie and the entire Casa Munoz staff. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The fajitas are fantastic. And they are different form other Mexican Restaurants. Also they have the best Margaritas in town. The bartender there knows how to make a Margarita. Most other places they are too sour or they use cheaper ingredients or something. Love this place. The chips and salsa are great, but........you have to ask for the Pico De Gallo. Don't forget to do that. read more

We have been coming here for years. The staff is also very friendly and puts you at ease. The food is delicious and served generously. I like a variety of soups. Hubby always orders his favorite, Chimichanga. I am constantly trying new things. But my favorite is the traditional taco, enchilada, rice, and beans. read more
