We went there tonight for carry out Support your local restaurants please. I called in my order told them when I would be there, it was ready and hot when I got there. The food was great and so was the service. The lady that took my order was very pleasant (Judy). They have a real nice family meal and the best Chile Colorado in town, bar none. Just wish I had a picture of all the food. THANKS!!! read more

Just like old times. I have not been here in years! But boy did memories come back. Some remodeling was done and an electric train is there to keep those littles entertained (please don't touch). Food was great and serving size is a good amount. Boxed up the extras for brother-in-law to eat later. read more

Always delicious! Came back for dinner after moving away 5 years ago and the chicken fajitas and chips & salsa were even better than I remembered! Amazing hospitality as usual, best Mexican food in town! read more

Casa Munoz - Mexican Near Me - Bakersfield, California

This is one of my in-laws favorite places to eat after Sunday mass. So when it's their turn to pic it is this or two other places. The parking lot is really a headache if you have any vehicle bigger than a mid size sedan. It seems the whole outline of the parking spots should have been thought out a little better. Casa Munoz gives you that time capsule feel. When you walk into the restaurant it seems as if you traveled back in time to the 70s. The interior is dated along with the decor. As we walked in we were greeted by a very nice hostess. She sat us down and took our drink order. Shortly after the waitress came by and took our order. I went with the Chile verde plate. Portions are huge I'm a big guy and I'm unable to finish it. The Chile verde was generic the sauce wasn't very impressive although the meat was tender and not dry. The rice and beans are the typical but home made. I really liked that you can chose between whole beans and refried. The food is the typical Mexican American meal. They are adapted to the American pallet. The spices get toned down and the spiciness is almost non existent. Overall the service was great and the food is fulfilling. It has been around for a really long time so it's clearly doing something right. read more

I grew up eating here. This place has great costumers, employees and all such. They are great. My parents have ate there ever since they first opened. We eat there for their birthday, christmas, thanksgiving, all holidays. We love you casa munoz! read more

Comically inappropriate. Weird political shirts and an uncomfortable vibe. Didn't feel comfortable with my family here

I place an order for delivery and it was delivered with efficiency as well as professional service provided. The special burrito was perfect in flavor as well as appearance. The rice was perfect in texture and flavor as well as the pot beans were good!! The driver did an excellent job in communicating with me in keeping me informed of my delivery! I also ordered the guacamole and chips and they were good! I was able to get full as the serving size plentiful! They never disappoint! Thank you team Casa Munoz!!! read more

We came here on a Friday afternoon after attending a funeral and it was late afternoon, so it was pretty cleared out. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth. Our drink order taken and chips and salsa delivered immediately and after a long service we were starving. It has been quite a few years since I've been here and I was shocked to see how much they've gone up in their prices. It is Mexican food and the lunch special was not so much a special. So I opted to order off the a la carte menu due to the fact I don't eat much. I chose two carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro with soft corn tortillas. And a Dr. Pepper to drink. My companions ordered enchiladas suizas and the other two crunchy tacos a la carte also. First when our food came out the enchiladas dish looked amazing and she said it was very good. The other one said her two crunchy tacos also were very good. Now mine, only one came out and said the other was being prepared, I just cancelled because I already filled up on chips and salsa and why wasn't both of them ready at the same time? Oh well their loss, but one soft taco and a Dr. Pepper for $7 seemed a bit high for mediocre food. I was disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants on this side of town. read more

Great Mexican food! Fast, you can call in a take out order or use Grub Hub or Uber Eats. After work or when its safe to do so, their bomb margaritas can also be ordered in awesome mason jars to go! Support family owned! #familyownedrestaurants read more

I grew up eating at Casa Munoz and now take my family there, too. My husband is from Oklahoma so he had never eaten there before. Now that he has, it's all he wants for his birthday and any other special occasion. They offer great food and have an amazing staff. We try to eat there at least twice a month, especially during COVID, to help them keep the doors open. I can't imagine Bakersfield without Casa Munoz! read more

This restaurant was highly recommended and clearly has a loyal following. There was a high volume of patrons that seemed to be enjoying their dinning experience. Unfortunately my dinning experience fell short of expectation and I found the style of food not to my liking. Pro: The parking lot is fenced in and has a security guard. Pro: The dinning experience is unique due to the age of the building and it's obvious attempt to hold on to an aesthetic that's a bit retro. It's like time-traveling back 30 years. It was fun, not everything needs to new or hipster. Cons: Dated Food. I hesitate to be harshly critical of a local business and this style of Mexican food is favored by many people. read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. The food was so bland. My sister and I left most of plates full.

My family enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day weekend lunch at Casa Munoz that was combined with excellent service.

Food is kind blend.....i love mexican food and grew up eating it but this food just doesn't have flavor. Compare to other restaurants, this place is ok... read more

The food is just OK. I love Mexican food and usually stuff myself but I was okay with leaving more than half the plate behind. I got the 1 item combo chicken enchilada with beans and cheese. The food didn't look appealing, it almost looked microwaved and it took them 10 minutes or less to bring out the food after we ordered which I thought was unusual. Huge portions and a reasonable price but quality isn't great. I've been here twice and both times food quality was the same but the service and margaritas were at least good. Really wish I could give a better review because I LOVE Mexican food read more

Went for lunch. We had the Chile verde burrito. The burrito had no flavor whatsoever. Not sure how this place has a 4 star rating.

I love this place the food is so good the workers are awesome the owners are great people recommend this place to everyone

Every visit to Casa Munoz, I struggle making my kind up between chicken flautas, or beef fajitas. They are both so good! The service is great. The only bad thing is the location. Our family visits other Mexican restaurants in Bakersfield, but Casa Munoz is the best! read more

This is mi esposa's favorite Mexican restaurant. She worked downtown so this has been a go-to spot for years and years. Mi esposa is pretty sensitive to spicy food and finds the food here perfectly spiced. After so many lunches and dinners here the waitress knows what she wants when she walks through the door. It always feels like home when we eat here. read more

The food here is amazing and the staff is always so friendly-especially Alyssa. Go here you won't be sorry. I love their carne asada tacos, cheese enchiladas with beans and rice. This is a hidden gem. read more

The cheese enchiladas have always been good. I ordered the enchiladas on Saturday and the cheese was hard. The quality of cheese was not the same. The quality of cheese is very important. The best carne asada taco I've ever had! Honestly. Lots a great Mexican food in Bakersfield but this place is top notch!

Dissatisfied, Disappointed,D- As a native of Bakersfield and a patron of this place in the 90's I thought one cant go wrong...Wrong I was there for Taco Tuesday ordered a strawberry margarita and 3tacos in which host ask 3 times what I wanted. what I wanted was tacos...what I got was 3 tacos that tasted the same carnitas, carne asada and when I addressed the host he brought a ticket minus 2 bucks for the tacos . new name twisted tacos ,food was blah , service well let's just say this is my last time coming here read more

The fried ice cream was good, but the pozole and menudo was disgusting! The pozole tasted bland and the menudo tasted charred/burnt and smelled gross! Definitely not worth coming here. read more

My family loves Casa Munoz. We've been going for years. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and they were always especially sweet to my grandparents. The food is always tasty too. The chicken fajitas are my favorite. Also, their chicken noodle soup is the best in town! read more

Very good margaritas and a pleasant staff , they will make you numb so if you're driving don't let them get away from you.

Went today for lunch... the staff is on point! The only thing I wish they'd pay more attention to is timing. My daughter loves their chorizo nachos so we order that as an appetizer. We waited for quite a while and I told her they are going to make our appetizer the same time as the meal... and they sure did. By the time we served ourselves some nachos our lunch plates were placed on the end of the table. And we both ordered crunchy tacos, not so crunchy by the time we got to them! They should leave a solid 15 minutes between serving an appetizer and the meal! read more

Casa Munoz has been around for ages. Owned by a local Bakersfield family for many years. It's standard Mexican fare for most Bakersfield residents. The location is quite far from my side of town. So the few times I've been it's on my lunch hour. They always manage to get us in and out in under 45 minutes. That is, if you get in before the 12:15 lunch madness. The parking lot can be a total nightmare. It's simply not built for trucks. There's been a few occasions where I've seen smaller cars blocked in by two adjacent long bed trucks. Hopefully, they were all in the same party. The building has a retro Mexican feel. It's got that 60s vibe, but with Latin flare. The indoor/outdoor garden thing is kind of interesting. Sometimes they jazz it up with seasonal decorations. The salsa is quite mild. I prefer something with more of a kick, but they cater to their clientele. I've only ever ordered one thing in the multiple times we've visited, the Casa Munoz Special Burrito. Which I swear used to be Burrito Especial on the menu, but has been since changed to its English translation. I still order it as the Burrito Especial, which raises a few eyebrows in our party. Rice and Beans are always extra - and while not the best ever, it's worth the extra dollar or so. The chile verde in the burrito could use a little added kick. It's a tad bland, but the abundance of melted cheese on the burrito makes up for it. Service is great. Always friendly and always attentive. If you're looking for real authentic Mexican food there's much better in town. But Casa Munoz is solid for a group setting where everyone will walk away satisfied. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant. Loved the staff and the food was bomb. Haven't been here in years and I was disappointed. The chimichanga used to be huge. Not any more. I ordered a cheese enchilada no onions - tons of onion! Ugh. It was super busy and it took a long time to get our food and we didn't see the waitress until she brought the bill. She was super nice, really sweet but it wasn't the pleasant experience I remembered. read more

Went here today for lunch fufor the 1st time. Bad, not horrible but not good. As you walk in you'll smell a wet carpet or old building smell. There were 5 if us. 2 ladies ordered the fajita special, even brought to them the waiter said "well done" because both were extra charred. (1 lady said "I didn't order well done"). My "best in Bakersfield menudo" was just EH! And it was a small bowl for $8.55. The other 2 ladies were OK with their food. I will never return there. read more
