OK. This is the second time I've eaten here that I've wanted to write a review. Both times I was so hungry, I dug into the food before taking photos. The place has a comfortable interior. It's all booths. We ordered the Casa Munoz special burrito. It's a chili Verde burrito and we added a side of rice and beans. We also got some flour tortillas. The service is great. Our food came quickly. There was plenty enough for two people. The pork in the burrito was tender and nicely seasoned. The rice and beans were good. The salsa and chips were good. And the salsa was a little bit spicier than you find usually. If you're in the downtown area, this is a great place for lunch. There is a good size parking lot, service is fast, and the price is reasonable. Give it a try. read more

Went into Casa Muñoz because I was craving their burger! I was surprised to find the place somewhat empty on a Friday night because they deserve to have a packed house. We were seated right away. The restaurant was empty. We were there at 2 p m so the lunch crowd had gone and dinner crowd wasn't there yet I guess. The restaurant had nice roomy booths and had a homey feel. The waitress brought our menus and took our drink orders. The menus have really small printing and don't offer a la carte prices. They only list their meals and appetizers on the menu. We decided to order the steak fajitas to split. I ordered the bloody mary which was horrible. It was plain, nothing good in it, not even an olive and it tasted like celery salt. I asked if I could return it and just got a water. The steak fajitas were delicious. We had enough to split and take some home. The beans and rice were really good too. This salsa was just okay. read more

Casa Munoz is a spot I enjoy coming to during lunch with coworkers. When we are on a time crunch they are quick to get the order in, and get the food out quickly. The customer service here is amazing! Every person that works at this place treats their customers as if they are family. *Especially regulars* Gracie and Luis are my favorites here! They are quick, and already know what I usually get. When I'm seated Gracie is already there with an iced tea in her hand for me. I really appreciate this service where the staff actually gets to know their customers. The food is good not the best Mexican food I've had, but it gets the job done. The lunch specials have great prices, and the drink is included if you order off the lunch menu. They also have really good French fries. We love going to Casa Muñoz! We always get great food, fantastic service and full tummies! We love that they repaved the parking lot! The restaurant is charming as it has always been! We love the private room in the back for celebrations! This family owned establishment is our go to for the best Mexican food when visiting Bakersfield! I love their salsa and the margaritas are the best! As far as the food goes, I love everything I have ever eaten so I can't pick an absolute favorite, but the chicken ala-vado (I'm sure I'm spelling this wrong) street tacos are amazing, but then again so is the special burrito, the taquitos, the regular tacos and I also love the nachos! I was really looking forward to this place when I walked in but unfortunately the food was on the low side of mid. The service was pretty standard, not exceptional either way, but friendly. Like someone else pointed out, there's a weird political Tshirt hanging by the register which just seems unnecessary. Honestly, I don't care about your politics enough to want to know what they are when I visit your restaurant. Whether I agree with you or not, it only takes away from enjoyment of the meal. Servers are always on top of their game, and very friendly and while it can get busy, it's still a nice place with a good amount of semi enclosed booths to make more private dining. Went there for Sunday lunch with my grammy after church when we first got there we had no idea who the workers were because most workers were not in uniform and everything was all over the place and once we got seated and I sat down the seat was missing cushion and had duck tape on it,it was not comfortable seating at all.I ordered the combination 2 item plate with a chili relleno and the enchilada, my grandma got the menudo. Once we got our food my grandmas menudo had no flavor at all and she had to continuously put salt when eating it, when I got my food I took one bite of the enchilada and the tortilla tasted stale and had no flavor and neither did the sauce or the cheese since I got a cheese enchilada, and the chili relleno was so bland that I couldn't even finish it when I got to the rice and beans the rice was hard at the top as if they had warmed it up like it was day old and the beans also had no flavor.The only thing that had flavor was the chips and salsa. We come her often for lunch after Sunday Mass. it's always good to support the local businesses on the Eastside, especially fellow parishioners. Today's service was much of the same: attentive, polite, and quick to serve us. The food was also top notch. I ordered a large menudo, and my kids split a large. Meanwhile, my wife enjoyed her fajitas (although she was disappointed a bit that they weren't served en la plancha"). This place is definitely a step back in time, vinyl booths, patterned carpet, indoor artificial garden area, definitely a 60's flashback. They bring chips and salsa, made with canned tomatoes but still tasty. I ordered the flautas lunch plate, one beef one chicken. The server specifically asked if I wanted them made with flour or corn tortillas. I asked for corn, but they were flour. I would have se them back, but I was hungry. Since Covid and all the madness, we've been trying to support the local restaurants so we don't loose any more of them than we already have. That being said, we usually order from Mexicali if we want "not fast-food Mexican". While we LOVE Mexicali, we wanted to branch out so we tried Casa Munoz. My husband's family was strictly a Sinaloa family, so we were excited to see if the other part of the family's cooking was as good. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised since the last time I had eaten there was less than stellar. We ordered the small nachos, enchiladas suizas and some tacos. The nachos are real good, and so simple! Second time around we ordered margaritas (really hope after Covid we can still get cocktails to go!), nachos again and I got a tamale and enchilada this time. Super happy, the food was tasty and the margaritas were 'almost' on par with Mexicali's. I highly recommend Casa Munoz! Tasty food, supporting a local family. read more

They even provide you with an extra taco shell knowing yours will probably be disintegrated by the time you eat it. And, if that's not considerate, I don't know what is!
