Give El patron 5 plus stars so the hole in the wall stuck on Auburn way out there towards city in the hills but the food is immaculate it's really good we went to the bar to eat because there was nobody in the restaurant and the drinks in the bar were a little bit cheaper of course but it was a real nice little atmosphere going on little bar fully packed with alcohol that you might want and it was nice and quiet because we want to during the during the week so it wasn't too bad so this little restaurant on the east side is a little diamond in the rough so if you ever on the east side you need to check it out read more

So... the hype is real people! The menudo here is delicious. It's clean, tasty, and cooked to the right consistency. The broth is a tad spicy, so if you're sensitive to picante, try it first. And, the service here is always friendly and attentive. I will definitely be becoming back for more menudo and of course, their mole. Note: The menudo is $15.99 for a large bowl, and my OJ was $4. We were looking for a new Mexican place and were pleasantly surprised at how good everything's was. Even the chips and salsa were some of the best in town. Highly recommend! Decided to go out for a drink and ended up here. Javi (bartender) was our server and he handled the whole bar well with multiple tables. Did not leave anyone unattended. Offered us refills and recommended the chile verde nachos which were delicious. It doesn't seem all that from the outside but the service, food and drinks were all worth the stop. I Stopped by on a Thursday evening in search for some meat ball soup. I found The ambiance to be a traditional Mexican restaurant, nothing fancy about it, Lots of locals.You can hear the cooks singing to the Mexican music while you're waiting on your dish. I was very disappointed in the food. Not only was our lunch expensive, my husband ordered ground beef Nachos Supreme $18.95. I ordered Coctel De Camaron $23.99. The nachos became so soggy within minutes after being served it was more like eating mush. My shrimp were over cooked to the point they had no taste and were tough. After a couple months of trying, I finally had a chance to try their menudo. I hear great things about it but it always seems to be sold out. It didn't disappoint so give it a try. FOOD: The Menudo was really rich in redness. It tastes like it looks with the great chili taste. The menudo was really good but it could be a little spicer for my taste. I asked for extra hominy and they put plenty. The hominy was soft and perfect. It really did hit the spot for a Sunday hangover. It was priced at $14.99 for a large and that's $7 more then Los Reyes This has to be my second favorite menudo in town with Los Reyes taking 1st IMO. I'm really surprised this restaurant is not at 5 stars! Maybe I love it from a nostalgic standpoint, as this was mine and my now husbands first date place. A smaller place on the east side of town cooking up tasty Mexican food. The chicken mole and shrimp plates are amazing. My husband always gets the buffadora, a big burrito with 3 sauces (red, White, and green). Their prices have gone up so much, which is understandable, as everything has gone up. read more

I read the positive revues. Unfortunately, mine is not positive. I ordered a relleno, cheese enchilada and rice. The enchilada was very salty and the sauce watery. The relleno tasted like uncooked flour and the chile was not properly cooked. The cheese inside was not cooked at all. The best part of the meal was the rice and flour tortillas (from a package). My cousin had a meal that was similarly unsatisfactory. Every restaurant has a bad day. Maybe today was El Patron's. I'm hoping for the sake of the establishment the meal they served me is not tipical. One star. read more

First time here to try their breakfast. Food was cold...even the coffee. The menudo was recommended by waitress but once I took a spoon full I knew it needed something. The proportions are big so come with an appetite. It was so delicious. The salsa they give you with your chips is amazing. I had to try and take half of it home with me. Oh my tank is full. When you're in the East side of town and looking for a good Mexican restaurant, this place can be a good option. They have really good salsa served with their complimentary chips. I've tried their child verde, chicken enchiladas and their El Patron Trio (plate of rice and beans with shrimp wrapped in bacon (yum!), thin cut of steak and chicken. So far, everything I've triedweare good. I've heard that they have good happy hour menus and prices, so I'll be coming back to try that next time. read more

I came here almost every Friday for about a year with my coworkers and we always came back because they always took our orders ahead of time and had our entrees hot and ready when we arrived. They even had our drinks in to-go cups! Now that's service! My favorite thing to get here is the grilled enchilada lunch special. I just loved the taste of the enchiladas as it had the seared and melted-cheese flavor that other enchilada dishes don't have. The plate comes with rice and beans. It's also $10.99 and includes a drink. I've also had the Chile verde burrito and the enchiladas suizas on several occasions. Those two dishes are usually pretty good, but sometimes the meat did not come out very tasty and was bland. Also, the salsa that covered the entree sometimes was not very flavorful. Another small complaint is their chips and salsa. The salsa needs some more kick and Spice because that's what it supposed to have! Anyway, despite some minor caveats, this is a great lunch spot! Service was slow and inattentive in the day we went. Only three tables in the place were full so being busy was not a concern. Other than that the good was very good, over priced, but very good. I would come and eat again, but not go out of me way. We got two combo plates and two chimis. The plates were large and filled with rice and beans plus the items we ordered. Chili verde sauce tasted watered down no flavor The kids had plain tacos and the meat tasted like it was from three days ago. I believe the French fries where the freshest thing they served hahahah. Salsa was also watered down Beer was room temperature Michilada seemed like they forgot to add the beer. A lil advise. Since I moved to this side of town I saw this restaurant and I thought I would try it. VERY PRICEY place to eat. The kids & adult menu prices are really high. The waiter was really pushy about us ordering our meal right when we sat down. The chips were stale. The salsa and the food was okay. When I asked the waiter for extra silverware, she questioned why as if we were lying. Then my husband asked for some napkins since we have three kids eating at the table. The waiter only gave us two napkins. The waiter never came back to give us refills on our drinks. The restaurant had just opened so it wasn't busy. We're so disappointed. Called Saturday night to place an order. The total came out to $32 for 2 meals. That price seemed extremely high compared to our last order so we assumed there was a mistake but there wasn't. When we asked how much the ground beef taco with rice and beans was he told us $12.99. Yikes! That's over $4 more then last time. He said it's because of the higher beef prices. I really doubt that the little bit of ground beef they put in one taco cost $4 more then before. This was our favorite Mexican food place on the east side and now we're gonna have to go find a new one. And by the way, we canceled our order and went somewhere else. read more
