It's exactly how everyone one describes it , it's like going to grandmas house on the weekend and having a delicious plate of whatever she made that day. I went with the chicharron con Chile with rice and beans and a side of potatoes and my wife had the steak Ranchero. Both plates were amazing the flavors were on point and it literally brought me back to my childhood the way everything tasted. Finally after all these years my mom and I were able to go eat breakfast together this morning Memorial Day weekend and we were excited air conditioning was on and food was good as well as service. I had seen so many good reviews for this restaurant, we were completely surprised by the food after reading the reviews, the menudo broth was terrible the tripe was disgusting just fatty unclean lowest quality. The chile verde was to say the least unbelievably not what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant, no flavor, pork was mostly fatty. Cheese enchiladas dry asked for onions and they just threw some raw onions on it seriously WTF.. the area was nothing but homeless low life's we thanked God our car was still there when we left. read more

So glad we decided to try this place! My sister suggested Arizona Cafe which is like right next door to Los Reyes. We got to Arizona Cafe and there was a line to get in-at this point it's 12:30, I haven't had breakfast and I just want to eat, not wait. So I get on Yelp, look up restaurants nearby and see "Los Reyes," I see a that they have a better rating than Arizona, and also a picture of their menudo, so I'm sold and we park and walk in. The decor is just so cozy and familiar, it reminds me of how my parents and grandma would have their houses looking growing up. Right away my sister and I thought oh man it feels like we're at Grandma's house. It's quiet in there, no one else is dining so we have the place to ourselves. There's one person who took our order and served us and she was just pleasant and helpful which contributes to the whole, 'you feel like you're at home' vibe. We each tried the horchata, menudo and I ended up getting a couple of enchiladas desebradas (shredded meat). Prices are reasonable and the food was so good!! I did not want to stop eating. I didn't not even want to leave the broth for the menudo in the bowl. Another cool thing about this place is that there's a little store attached that has just a bunch of cool little Mexican style dresses, blouses, and sandals. This is Chihuahua style grub for those who dont know. I have been coming here for years. If you want a genuine home cooked mexican style meal, you'll get it here. Most people dont understand that this place is one of the last bastions where you'll get fine dining not at La Costa, Que Pasa, El Adobe, or Los Molcajetes. Even the Arizona Cafe, which is next door, is suspect. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $16 for some half burnt, dried out pork spare rib Chile verse at Arizona when I could get Chile verde at Los Reyes for under $10 and delicious every time. I dont have to cross my fingers that it'll be good this go around. The ground beef tacos here are some of the best I ever had. You can order them ala carte or in a meal (rice n beans). The chilaquiles are one of my favorites. They prepare them with the Chile verde sauce. The flour tortillas are homemade not store bought. I gave Los Reyes 4 stars because of their menudo and caldos (soups). Not because they are bad but because they are small. Lol. I left the restaurant hungry each time I had their menudo and caldo de res. They were delicious but I needed an extra bowl to get me off properly. Next time order I'll order a ground beef taco or two as an appetizer before the menudo. They recently upped their prices a lil. bit. Still worth every bite. Dont be afraid to request something custom. Juanita will hook you up. I hope this place is around forever. read more
