It was Cinco de Mayo and like all white people, I craved Mexican food. Wait, a second... that's every day. Okay, so it was a NORMAL day (that just happened to land on Cinco de Mayo) and I needed my daily taco fix. So I called the BF who agreed, a taco break was perfect. But where? Naturally, I chose the most obscure Mexican restaurant on the furthest point in town; La Cascada. Located inside Mercado Latino, it took a total of 20 minutes for the BF to get here, and 15 for me (I'm on Ca/Mohawk). We arrived at a nearly empty Mercado. I guess it's true, Mexicans don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We took a short tour of the Mercado and found La Cascada. There are several restaurants all lined around the fountain, similar to a true plaza in Mexico. Make sure you seat yourself in the right restaurant because there's several! We were greeted quickly and given chips and salsa. W placed our Michelada orders and they came out right away. The cups were large (see photo) and the drink was particularly nice and refreshing on a warm day. But, was it $7 worth? I'm just not sure. I ordered the aguachiles and the BF ordered Camarones a la Diabla. First, let it be known that these shrimp are NOT cleaned. I usually don't order shrimp at Mexican restaurants for this reason. It really freaks me out! The flavors were good and there was plenty of heat, which is a key component to aguachiles. But the uncleaned shrimp just weirded me out. In the end, our total was $47. Yeah, you read that right. Plus tip we were over $50 which is absolutely crazy to me for Mexican food. Was the food good? Sure, it was okay. But $50 good? Nope. I'd need a lot more Micheladas for that to happen.

I like trying new restaurant therefore we decided to try this restaurant. We ordered of the la cart menu so we can try a little bit of everything. We ordered a sope, asada taco, chicken enchilada, emapanada de camaron, and a pupusa. Everything was delicious. Everything was freshly made which is the reason why our took a while to be made. We didn't mind as we enjoyed the outdoor sitting. I truly enjoyed my meal and definitely would recommend this place. I didn't take any pictures because I was hungry and was limited on time. Lol We went on a Wednesday at 11:30am, so it was not busy at all. I would assume that it might get busy during the evenings and especially during the weekends.

Food was nasty service sucked & the waiter was rude. The food did not taste like authentic mexican food.. save your $$$ & go somewhere

I came here to visit a friend. The restaurant is in a sort of plaza that's Mexican themed. I came on a Friday and a mariachi band was playing. The restaurant itself is small but has lots of outdoor seating in a shady area. I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo, sauteed chicken in ranchera sauce over a bed of rice, and it was delicious. Food was great, service was quick and friendly, atmosphere was charming. I would definitely recommend.

I love this little restaurant in Mercado latino. Food is always good and service is great! Every time I come here on an empty stomach. I'll be here! Chips are fresh and salsa is good. I would like it a little bit more spicy though. I ordered the pupusas revueltas. Pupusa revuelta contains a blend of cheese, pork (chicharrón), and refried beans. So satisfying!! 2 is plenty for me. They also have your other mexican traditional dishes as well as seafood. I would definitely recommend!

First off it was a steady flow of customers for a Wednesday evening. Many birthdays! We were sat immediately and waiter came to take our drink order. I had a mango chamoy margarita, while my husband got a roasted chili cucumber margarita on the rocks. His drink was SPICY! I ordered the shrimp fajitas and my husband ordered the chicken and steak molcajete. Our food was brought out super fast! The portions - humongous! But the food is so good! My husband is super picky when it comes to Mexican food, and he said this molcajete is his favorite so far compared to other Mexican restaurants we've been to. The bright colorful colors and great music selection really make it joyous and fun dining experiences. Highly recommend.

The place is pretty easy to find on the corner of 18th & R. There isn't a lot of seating for more than parties of 4. We were a party of 6 and we all smooshed into a horseshoe booth inside. There are only 2 of these booths available and they indicated they are not able to place additional seating at the booths. I imagine you might be able to put tables together outside for a larger party. We were greeted warmly, and while I felt overwhelmed by the amazing choices, the gal taking our order put me at ease by walking me through the menu board. We got amazing carnitas quesadillas and tacos and another dish that came on top of a mound of delicious fries. It's the kind of place where you order, then sit down and they bring you the food. We were well taken care of. Our drinks were refilled and they brought us 'to go' boxes. Their portions are generous and just tasty. And the iced tea was perfect! We ordered a full order of chips and salsa. That is extra. It was $6 for a full order ($5 for half) and these chips were well worth the cost. We will be back!

It was just the best. Next time we will eat there. The place is spotless and really pretty. It is festive looking and ever so comfortable. We loved everything about it. Parking is easy. The prices are super fair. The food is amazing. We had burritos that were just packed with meat. We had chicken and beef. We also had chips and coffee to go. I have to say, their coffee is great. The service is so nice. This was our first time here so they were so helpful with the menu. We also took Papa Tacos and wow were they great. We loved the rice and beans. The rice was perfect, not dried out like some places. We will be back. Try it.

Before my guest even arrived, I was told the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes, which made it impossible to plan or order properly for both of us. About 30 minutes after being seated, the waitress asked to close out my tab and mentioned they were closing an hour and a half early, something that should have been communicated when I walked in so I could have chosen to go elsewhere. To make things worse, about 10 minutes before closing, they turned the lights all the way up and shut the music off, which made it very clear we were being pushed out. No one came by to offer boxes for our food (I had more than half my meal left), and my guest didn't even get to finish her drink. We were essentially rushed out before the already early closing time, with no proper send-off. Overall, the experience felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
