I ordered the pupas revueltas with masa de arroz and honestly it was more dough then filling. I had to double check the inside of the pupusas to make sure I had filling in them because all I tasted was dough with a hint of cheese. I didn't taste the chicharrón or the beans. I went there specially for Papusas, they have Good selection of papusa. The best part is they had many vegetarian options too. I tried their zuccini, red beans, cheese, and jalapeno papusa. I like Jalapeno the most, but other were good too. The only part that was challenging is talking to the servers, since they did not know much English. We used Google translator to communicate. Found this gem on here, when I was on my way home from Las Vegas. I ordered two plain carne asada tacos, the meat way so tender, juicy and full of flavor. The size was a little on the small side, hace I known how small they were I would have ordered four lol The tortillas were freshly made. We ordered some pupusas to take home, they were still warm when we got home. They were delicious I just wish they had more cheese. Stopped at this place and tried a couple of things. I had a pupusa mixta, two carne asada tacos with a side of rice and beans, and their fruit salad drink. The place is nice and clean, and it was decorated for the Halloween season and was very cute. I started out with the fruit salad drink, which is a bit too sweet at the start, however after the ice melts and when you start eating the food the sweetness tapers off. Overall it was a very refreshing drink. The tacos were good, but there are other places with better tacos. The taco tortillas are handmade and delicious but I did find them a little too thick. The rice was not Mexican rice and given that this place is Mexican and Salvadoran I figured the rice is more like how they make it in El Salvador. The beans were very tasty and probably the best beans I've had in Bakersfield so far. The red salsa that the tacos came with was very spicy and delicious. The pupusa was very soft and I had a hard time tasting the cheese, Chicharrón, and beans in it. Maybe it's me, but I am used to them being toastier on the outside and a little bit thicker on the inside where you can taste the filling. The pickled cabbage was so good, I considered asking them if they would sell me some. I would go back to try other food, like their enchiladas and mole poblano to name a couple of Mexican dishes, and they have some Salvadoran appetizers that I would like to try. read more

This is the first time visiting this restaurant since they moved into their current location. First impression was that it was clean, the aromas were great, and our party was greeted kindly. The first thing my son noticed was that Rocky II was playing on the TV in the corner. The volume was actually pretty loud and we were seated under it. Though we love the Rocky movies, it probably didn't need to be so loud. Our server was attentive and communicated with us in Spanish for the most part, but she was Fluent in English as well. After some back and forth in the menu, my daughter ordered garlic buttered shrimp (basically a Latin style scampi) with rice and refried beans (which she didn't care for too much). My son and niece both ordered bowls of menudo, my wife ordered the Mariscada (Latin seafood stew), and I got the pork ribs in red sauce with rice and beans. The kids were pleased with the menudo, but commented that it wasn't their favorite, and each only ate half. My ribs were delicious, and my wife commented that the Mariscada was "okay." We did order pupusas and fried sugar cream filled plantain bananas as appetizers and everyone thought those were the best part of the meal. In the end, the service and appetizers were 5/5, the food and atmosphere were about 3.5/5, and the prices were solid 3s. 5 of us with no beverages came out to $87 including tax, and we tipped $13 to make it an even $100. The pupusa are full of flavor, and 1 is just enough to fill up. Comes with the salsa and the cabbage. I ordered the mixed pupusa, which had beans, cheese, and chicharones. So filling. Been looking to try a new place so my wife and I headed over to Sabor Latino on Sunday to give it a shot. Overall it was a good experience and we'll definitely come back for another meal there, the review comes down to 2 parts, if it were just for the food it would be 5 stars but I took one star out for the service. The Carne Guisada with potato and carrots was absolutely delicious. I devoured that plate and wanted more, there was so much flavor in the dish and the rice and beans were excellent as well. My wife had a cheese pupusa with loroco and she really liked it as well. They even brought out a thing of slaw and a sauce for her that she really enjoyed. The fried bananas were alright, we didn't love them but we did want to try them. The staff was friendly but I didn't feel like our waitress was attentive at all. After taking our order she never visited the table again even when there were only 2 tables being used. She made herself busy cleaning up another table and moving around but never checked on us. I had to finally call her over just to get a refill it was kind of a hassle. It's not a huge deal but I would like to be checked on and have drinks refilled without having to call the waitress as she buzzes past us for the 5th or 6th time. Small family owned Resturant . Staff very friendly ... spoke in both English and Spanish. The shrimp Diabolo was good but wish it was spicer. The plantains were delicious... warm and light and had some kind of cream in the middle .... Pretty sure it was some kind of desert. Very yummy... recommend these. We've been wanting to come here for almost a year now and haven't been able to make it happen until today. Came in with high expectations based off the reviews. This is clearly a family run establishment with what appeared to be three generations working at the time. I say 3, the youngest was really only about 7 but she took great pride in being able to pull her weight by delivering the chips and salsa to our table. Adorable! What I believe to be was the matriarch of the family was preparing the dishes in the kitchen while the daughter was taking customers orders. The table salsa was clearly made fresh that day and had great flavor with just enough heat. They offered a spicier option but we declined. We ordered some bean and cheese pupusas to start. They were cooked perfectly and were incredible! I ordered shrimp fajitas(yes of course I ordered shrimp). The portion was a little small compared to the chicken and steak my wife ordered. The shrimp were over cooked and the entree lacked flavor over all. The tortillas both corn and flour were also made from scratch in the restaurant and were very good. Maria Jose' was my sweet server today. She seated me immediately, brought my drink right away and took my order in a timely fashion. I ordered the Majara Frita, which is a whole white fish deep fried. The flesh is very moist has a lovely delicate flavor, the skin is fried very crispy. The dish is accompanied with light fluffy and flavorful rice, yummy French fries a small salad and tortillas. My meal was delicious! Now let me tell you a couple of things. If you are squeamish about looking at the entire fish this dish isn't for you, Ha! It is rather messy to eat. You must remove the fish from the bone. Quite often this can only be done by picking parts of it up like you would ribs. Fortunately the bones are large enough to find easily. I must have used 10 napkins. But I found this scrumptious fish well worth the effort. They do charge a $1 fee for using a credit or debit cards. This is a very casual Salvadoran/Mexican restaurant with traditional Mexican & Pop Rock music playing in the background. Soft drinks & water only, no alcohol. The restaurant is locally owned by Simon & Rayna. They have been open for about a year. I am wishing them much success. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

First time here this place was really good I ordered the fried fish it was not tilapia I forgot what they called it. We also got some tacos with homemade puffy tortillas oh man. I think the next time I visit I'll order the Molcajete and Compechanos both looked good. My partner in crime got the plantains and pork. I could not try everything as the portions were generous and we were definitely satisfied we took home leftovers. Wow! What a gem! It's a lovely family restaurant run by a lovely family. It's really a mom and pop place with their daughter serving the tables. Our server informed us that many of the recipes and the marinades are her mother's recipes and she does the preparation. Her father takes care of the business and he too is a very nice man. Our server asked if I'd had Salvadorian food before and with my no answer she went on to answer all my questions in detail and making suggestions. My intent when going there was to try pupus, She recommended the ground pork stuffing. When she brought the pupus she explained to add the fermented cabbage to the top and the sauce over that. The cabbage had a light ferment of maybe 24-48 hours, it also had a bottom note of oregano. That stuff was freakin' awesome! The light tomato blended sauce that went over it was delicious. I had the Chili Rellenos de Picadillo, and the sauce was very flavorful. Red and green bell peppers, and onions with tomatoes poured over fried poblano peppers that were stuffed with ground pork and potato and carrot. Nothing was greasy! Everything tasted fresh, and pure, you tasted all the flavors. Crazy good stuff! Usually when you go into most restaurants (and I don't care what kind of food it it, EVERYTHING is greasy) My friend had the Pollo en Crema (chicken in sour cream) It came with two large, and large like if The Rock was a chicken. The crema sauce was light, delicious and full of perfectly cooked onions, red peppers and tomato. I had planned on eating half of it, but after a few bites of my plate I was in no mood for sharing my meal. The corn tortillas were thick and again not greasy, just delicious corn flavor. Went out to dinner with my husband at this new location it looks like it's a family owned. I could tell it just started but they do need a lot of work. Very unorganized they take preference in which order goes first instead of first come first serve . Tacos de pastor are lacking flavor , something in the pupusa did not sit well with my stomach and the water was ok . I'm pretty sure they do the water in the morning spare throughout the day they had ice so by time I went for dinner it was very watered down a little flavor . And overall the waiter was very friendly and sadly it's one of those restaurants that I've been there done that. read more

We stopped here on our way back driving from Vegas during the holiday airline crisis. It turned out to be better than we all had expected. It's a remodeled IHOP and hard to miss! There were five of us and we all agreed our food was delicious and authentic. I had the caldo gallina - a clear broth loaded with vegetables served with a large chicken leg and tortillas on the side. Our waitress couldn't speak english so she had to get someone to help her. They were both very nice and did a great job.
