What a great place to dine and feel at home. Came here for the first time about 5 weeks ago and tried their Paella with lobster and loved it. Spoke with Delia about ordering a tray of Paella (w/o lobster) for Christmas (was hosting Christmas dinner) and she said NP, but they were not open on Christmas, so I ordered it to be picked up on Christmas Eve. Came for dinner on Christmas Eve, tried their octopus as Delia said it was a specialty of her father's, and had the lamb chops. OMG, the octopus was soooo tender, I recommend everyone try it. The lamb chops were medium rare, which was perfect. The rest of my party had steaks and the pork chop special, and everybody raved about how delicious their dishes were. On Christmas day, everyone loved the Paella Casa Luis was so accommodating to us; we requested to be seated in their outdoor tent and they turned on the heaters for us, even though we were the only ones sitting in the tent. The staff was attentive and friendly, making the trek from inside the restaurant to us in the tent; Delia stopped by regularly to chit chat and to see how we were doing. They made us feel like family. I highly recommend Casa Luis to anyone who wants a great meal and to feel welcome, like family. read more

I went Casa Luis last week for my anniversary. I got the mixed seafood w/ green sauce which was delicious & my boyfriend got the paella with just the seafood. He enjoyed it, but said he has had better. The drinks we had were a blackberry margarita & strawberry mojito. I enjoyed the margarita but my BF didn't like the mojito because he felt there was way too much mint in the drink & was removing it & added a small amount of water to dilute the mint flavor. We both felt that it was a bit loud in there & had to talk rather loudly to hear each other! I would like to try eating there again at a less busy time; possibly lunch or an early dinner & hope that it won't be so noisy. read more

Love love love Luis, have known him through his food for over 30 years! 1st when he was a chef in Huntington and then when he opened Casa. He and his family always made you feel like family. Casa Luis is the bomb! My family and I have been coming here since as long as I can remember - and for good reasons. The cuisine is Northern Spain and paella is their specialty, in particular, Paella Valenciana - which is where paella was invented! This is one of their robust dishes which I like to order with the half lobster tail as a real treat. Other notable items worth ordering: Salpicon (cold shrimp/scallop citris salad), Gambas al ajillo (gotta love garlic!), and Pulpo. Definitely order a margarita or a pitcher to knock your socks off (they are lethal!) If you're lucky, go during grappa season, where Luis himself may appear from the kitchen and pour you a free sample of his homemade libation. Décor is a little old school and worn Spaniard-style home of the caballeros, but makes for a cozy dining experience and is a great date spot ;) Will be returning here again and again as it is nice to go somewhere where, "everybody knows your name!" read more

My in-laws love this place for it's lobster specials cuz they serve it year round but this time I tried the Pulpo Gallegos. (Octopus!) It was so tender and so good! Might have even been better than some of the octopus I loved in Portugal. It was good to see the restaurant packed on a Friday night too after having to rebuild the restaurant due to accident/fire. Try the white sangria too! Esp in the summer! Much more refreshing than the traditional red. Never been disappointed in a meal here. Worth checking out! (Also I'm from Denver, not Brookhaven. Having met the owners this past Christmas while skiing we made an effort to go out and visit the restaurant. We found the food very authentic it reminded us of the Spanish meals my parents cook for us when we were children. We ordered the octopus a la Gallego and the the Callos( tripe) dish they were both authentic and made me wax nostalgic. Look forward to returning. read more

I had the pleasure of going back last evening since the reopening. There is just no profound words that can translate to this awesome place! Had a blast enjoying a Friday night in the lounge area with good strong yumfully delish margaritas. I had the Mango Rita and it was packed full of tasty punch! The kind that you know it's an adult beverage after having just one. They Rita's are perfectly hand made to order with the perfect amount of booze. They're so good you can't taste the alcohol but you sure know it's loaded from the warm fuzzy happy attitude adjustment it gives you! Always greeted by Luis & his daughter Delhi along with the friendliest staff makes you feel like your family. The food is absolutely layered with different levels of flavors that pop in your mouth that makes for one happy tongue! I had the shrimp Gumbus and it was absolutely amazing! This place will never ever let you down as I have been coming here since the late '80's and it seems to always get better like a fine bottle of vino. Don't forget to get the homemade flan which is made daily as it will smooth out the end of the evening with a snifter of Cardinal Mendoza. The only bad part of coming here is knowing that after your belly is full and your nice and toasty from the drinks, is thinking about having to leave the fun to go home! Good solid Long Island style Spanish restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Upon our friends invitation, we met at Casa Luis for dinner on a busy Sat night. Getting there about 7 there were still a few spots in the parking area however given the popularity of this local restaurant, parking looks as if it can get tricky later in the evening. Inside is a tight but cozy dining room with bullfighting paintings and Big hats hanging on the posts (reserved for pictures when it's your birthday I was told). The menu has a good selection of Spanish entrees like paella and mariscada dishes in addition to chops and assorted seafood dishes. I went with a seafood mariscada in green sauce with lobster. The plate it was served on was a bit small for the amount of clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops along with a lobster tail. The food, swimming in their rich mariscada green sauce, was very close to spilling off the plate.I would have preferred it served in a pot as they do some of their other dishes and then scooped on to my plate little by little. The green sauce was delicious with garlic and parsley, great for sopping it up with bread afterwards! House made chips and sauteed veggies were served alongside and both were delicious. For dessert, flan of course with a decaf cappuccino. Nice creamy flan floating in a small amount of syrup. In all, a nice meal solid 4 star local gem. read more

After an extensive search for authentic Spanish cuisine I came across Casa Luis. I convinced our good friends, Luis and Elsie to join me and my wife for dinner on Feb 7, 2018. We were totally amazed at the quality of the food with our friend Luis proclaiming that this restaurant offered the most authentic Spanish food in the region and he compared to the food he had in Spain during his frequent travels there. Kudos to the family who owns Casa Luis- you have now a new satisfied customer who will definitely return. Enjoyed another fine meal and excellent professional service at a very early Monday dinner. If you haven't been it's survived being surrounded by new and old restaurants for an extremely long time because they make you feel like family and are consistent in the quality of their food and drink. It's basic Spanish cooking so the focus is on each ingredients, you'll not find spice except in the excellent dip sauce for the crispy chips. Over the years we have been many times and I order something different every time and never disappointed. But I have to say as far as appetizers the baked clams are the best I've ever had, seasoned just right tender and moist and fresh. I remember the anticipation in Smithtown and Commack of their reopening after they sustained a fire, we worried, the restaurant business is hard and after time off maybe they would enjoy being away from the craziness the business. Decided on Casa Luis after receiving a gift certificate. Many of our friends raved about this place and live in actual Smithtown. We decided to take our family, there were six of us. The wait staff was friendly and fast so far so good. Our food came out within 15 minutes max, wow!! we were skeptical but impressed. Our daughter ordered paella, which she loves, she took a couple of bites and felt bad to tell us that it didn't taste good. My husband and I took a taste, and something was definitely wrong with this food. It was actually horribly tasting. With this, one of us noticed that the tortillas that we had for two of the food orders were green molded on one end. At this point we checked the tortilla underneath it and it had mold too. The waiter came out with the pot of paella asking my daughter if she wanted more, she politely said no and then I advised this waiter that actually that tastes really bad. The waiter apologized for the food, they took off my daughter's plate, no one came to our table, manager, cook etc.. to apologize for this bad experience. We were all super disappointed and couldn't eat after all of that. It is very sad that this all turned out the way it did. We were all very excited to eat out together. This place was not impressive at all and I am sure our friends would be shocked at our experience. read more

Been on the lookout for a good Spanish restaurant since the closing of House of Spain in Merrick. I've been dying for some good Chicken Villaroy and was super excited to see it on the menu! It was DELICIOUS! Rice and potatoes on the side were amazing as well. The place packed out and every seat was taken by 630PM, and virtually every single table was ordering the paella. I wish I ate that kind of seafood, because if every table was ordering it, then that says something. Owner and his daughter are very personable and friendly, waitstaff was efficient and organized. I went to Casa Luis last night, After they had Grand reopening. When you come here you are treated as Family. The old Staff was back, in addition to Owner/ Chef Luis. The Inside of the Place retains the charm of this long popular Smithtown Restaurant. After hugging The Bartender who is Luis' s Daughter Dalia, I was back Home. Our Party first ordered Their excellent Margaritas, I ordered A Frozen Strawberry Margarita which was excellent. If you just want a Drink or Tapas they have a beautiful new Bar, where Dalia will welcome New and old Customers like Family. The Rolls and Breads were all Artisan made. For Appetizers we shared Family Style. Salpicon which is Seafood Ceviche, just like I remember. Also had Pork in Garlic Sauce, and a shrimp Dish which had a great flavor with fresh cooked Shrimp. By now I was feeling great thanks to my Drink. Service is always personable and friendly. The Servers greeted us as we have been Regular Customers for years. Casa Luis Staff works as one which enhances the Dining experience even more. For Our Main Courses we ordered The Paella Valencia, This is a Spanish Dish, which Served in a Pot. Paella Valencia starts with Saffron Rice in a wonderful sauce, piled high with Seafood, Chorizio , and Chicken which infuses The Shrimp, Scallops, Clams, and Mussels.The Flavor and Atmosphere give you a feeling of being in Barcelona, not Smithtown. As always delicious and consistent. Casa Luis of Commack is known for their Paella dishes and they do not disappoint. We were glad to get last min reservation and they staff could not of been more friendly and accommodating to see their old patrons after being shut down for a year due to construction. Garlic shrimp appetizer, with delicious sangria and margaritas for the table, their homemade chips with red sauce for each table it's a great start. The impressive part is when the skillet of hot Paella comes to the table full of seafood and meats and that's when your mouth starts to water.
