We chose here for dinner tonight. There was such an overwhelming amount of good reviews we had to try it! We had Jessica as our wait staff as well as Dave and were super pleased with the service, suggestions and friendliness! I had a little trouble deciding what to eat - i was attempting to decide between the san juan salad with the Portabello mushroom, or the Navajo taco, or the Turkey Reuben, or the Portabello mushroom sandwich... Jessica suggested the Navajo taco with the veggie chili. I decided to go with it! It was really tasty! Hubby knew he wouldn't enjoy the Raspberry Wheat - since he doesn't normally like too fruity wheats! Jessica brought him a taste just in case and a taste of the pale ale. Hubby really enjoyed the pale ale she suggested! Cute location. Neat tall tables in the bar and different types of tables in the dining room! Near the end of main street, free parking at the meters after 6pm. I probably would have gone with 3 stars, but am adding a 4th for the level of service! read more

Our waitress, Gabby, was so helpful and made my first experience at a Colorado brewery the best one yet! Will definitely be back.

The horse gravy poutine was phenomenal, it sparked unbridled joy. I'll be hoofing it back again soon

Buddy who lives I Durango 15 years ago recommended this place so I had apprehension walking in, I didn't need to. The food and the beer are five stars. We had the green Chile and the four corners steak sandwich, both incredible! They walked that fine line of being just hot enough but not too hot. I'm a hop guy and the two iPas were fantastic. Big hops with a dry finish. Barrel aged stout was also great. I bought two crowlers Togo, should have gotten more. I'm here one night and will probably go back for breakfast tomorrow. Every time I'm here I'll go and I'll tell everyone who mentions Durango about this place. read more

This place has some excellent Beer and great food. Their IPAs are very good as well as the raspberry ale. If you like Beer I recommend getting a sampler flight and enjoying their menu. read more

The best thing about this place in the summer is the spacious outdoor seating at the back of the restaurant--not visible from the front door. They feature several craft beers. ( give you a taste if you're not sure you'll like one.) I had the chicken potato pie--like a shepherd's pie with a mash potato topping. It was good, although it had a lot more potato in it than chicken. My husband had the Greek salad. The table next to us had a yummy looking dip (or soup) served in a bread bowl. I'd try that next time as several people around ordered it. The wait staff first seated us at a table right below the cooling mister--too much water spraying at us so they graciously moved us to a dryer table when asked. Returning in December 2013, it had a different interesting menu. It's a cozy place in the winter, too. For dessert we had the apple cobbler with ice cream--baked especially for us with crunch apples, plump raisins and awesome topping (see pic). There's a reason why this place has so many good reviews. read more

Great place, great food... service a bit slow if seated at bar... perhaps consider an extra set of hands for the front bar... Now, about that biscuit bowl... OH MY HEAVENS is that delish! Goodness gracious alive, scrumptiousness... certain to cause your tongue to slap your brains out! Hubby enjoyed his breakfast burrito with chorizo sausage... that green chile sauce tho!!! read more

Great beer, great menu, great service by Jack and great food. Will definitely make it a "must" stop when visiting Durango again

People around here like this place, but I HAVE NEVER had a good experience. To put it bluntly, $18.50 for 2 beers an an order of fries...... I value my money more than that. I don't know about you? read more

We can't wait for them to open again. We really miss them. Fantastic local Durango flavor!

OMG, I had the best lunch today at Carvers. It was their special. Smoked Salmon Chowder. It was sooo good. So creamy, tasty & flavorful. Salmon, bacon, corn & cream. Delicious! Can't wait to get some more. Also had their dessert Special, Banana Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream, candied Pecans & Rum Caramel sauce. Holy moly, yummy yummy. Really Good! I don't usually have dessert with lunch but glad I did & will definitely have this again. read more

Incredibly creative and down right yummy food! Very busy but very accommodating. The customer service is top notch, beginning with darling hostess Alaura (sorry if I miss spelled that)! The whole place radiates joy from the service, the food and great vibe they've got going on there! Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. Great for sharing or ordering some of the yummy appetizers! read more

We had a great breakfast here this morning. Service was a little slow, but friendly. The nitro cold brew was delicious as was the orange juice. Highly recommend getting a side of the poblano cream sauce for your potatos. Super Mario omelet was good, as was the huevos rancheros. The breakfast burrito was good too. All could have used a little extra flavor, adding some poblano cream sauce really helped. The homemade jam was a highlight. read more

I know soup is basic but I recommend the Tomato Basil on a cold Durango afternoon. Their non-alcoholic ginger beer is refreshing if you like ginger. It's not too sweet. read more

Wow! Delicious beer, tasty fries and excellent service! Maddisen, our server, was happy, pleasant, polite and was the reason we ordered another round. We really appreciate great service and whenever we return here we'll be sure to come back because of Maddisen! Good tasting beer. Kinda warm. Half decent food. Order a chicken club salad. Wayyy too much dressing. The lettuce was soggy. Chicken didn't come out until I was almost done with the meal. When I got it, it was extremely dry and not even warm to the touch. Gave it a 3 mainly because of the venue. read more

We had 6 people in our group so they were only able to seat us inside. Food was average but few things were outstanding. Pork Green Chile Stew is flavorful and served hot. The artichoke dip was okay; best part was the tortilla chips and bread bowl. Tatanka burger had great toppings but the bison patty was overcooked and dry. Green chilis helped with the flavor. I recommend the "build your own burger" option. I do not recommend the root beer - they brew it themselves - it's bitter. The service is not that attentive - I think the server was spread too thin. I expected better service since Durango tourist traffic is down but our server said they'd barely noticed. This was our best option for a group our size but it was just ok. read more

My family of 4 and I visited Durango on a road trip.  We located Carver Brewing because it was right across the street from Cream Bean Berry, an ice cream shop we were referred to by locals (totally worth a visit, read my review!).  We ended up eating here 2 out of our 3 days in Durango, trying Steamworks Brewing inbetween.  We found here to be the better option for us.  Let me start out by saying the staff was friendly and kind.  The decor is pleasant with a nice covered outdoor area complete with a mist system to help keep you cool on hot days. As for the food, wow, the chicken stew was outstanding!  On our first visit I was the only one who ordered it as a starter.  I am glad I ordered a bowl because it quickly disappeared between myself and my family.  It was on the thicker side and full of flavor.  On our second visit, two bowls were ordered and were both devoured just as quickly between the 4 of us.  On both of our visits, we ordered the steak nachos and a burger.  On visit one, my wife was impressed with my nachos that she had to order them on the second visit and I was equally impressed with her burger that I did the same.  The burger was juicy, tender and had a great flavor.  While the steak nachos were equally as flavorful.  The nachos were topped with a jalapeno sour cream and it came with some home made salsa.  Very tasty indeed.  My only complaint was we asked for some extra sour cream and were charged $1 without warning.  I always appreciate when a server tells me there is an additional cost for a charge instead of it being a surprise. Over all, if we had a 4th day in Durango, I believe we would be returning again. read more

We've been coming here the past 25 years or so, but I'm getting pickier and grumpier in my old age. At Christmas we phoned to ensure seating was available for my 98 year old, wheel chair bound Mom before making the trek out of the car through the snow. When we arrived 5 minutes later, the manager overrode the hostess and gave our table to someone else citing a no reservation policy. I finally gave it another go this week and it was like watching glue dry. Very slow and inattentive service. Probably 10 plus minutes to get a beer. They served the Oktoberfest menu without the advertised side. Sorry, but Carvers has lost their edge in this super competitive market. read more

Excellent selection of house brewed beers. I got a flight of 4 and they all had a lot of flavor and depth. I couldn't really pick a favorite. The stuffed mushrooms were tasty and the kale salad was fresh and delicious. Our entree of a bone in pork chop was tender and juicy. The mushroom gravy underneath was so good we asked for more. Service was very good and the food came quickly. They probably could've spaced things out a bit more, but we were hungry, so no complaints. read more

After receiving some bad news we decided to grab breakfast in town hoping to cheer ourselves up and boy was this the ticket. It was 10am so we got the breakfast menu. We were hoping to get a good functional breakfast and instead got one of the best meals we had eaten in months. I got the California Benedict with tomatoes and avocados and it was so good I'm surprised eggs Benedict is ever served any other way. It had all the eggy, silky, creamy goodness of a traditional Benedict while the fresher ingredients lifted it to make it feel lighter and fresher. Even the hash browns were a step up from what I normally get. It had all the things I love about hash browns like the crispy golden delicious bits but the flavors were deeper and more developed than the typical pile of potatoes served as a breakfast side dish. I loved my meal so much that I didn't even steal much from my husband's plate (we normally swap meals halfway through) but I did get a taste of his green chili omelette which was also excellent. He claimed it was the best thing he had eaten and couldn't stop telling Pamela the waitress how amazing the food was. He is a real port snob insisting that a true port is dark, sweet and high alcohol content. Since ports aren't as hip as IPAs and even Ales,he is usually disappointed by the ports at breweries but fell in love with the limited release one he tried here. He loved it so much that we spent a small fortune to get some to go. Lastly, we split two desserts (not sure if that is normally an option at 10am but the waitress and kitchen made sure we got what we wanted.) The root beer float made within house crafted root beer was excellent and exactly what you want from float. The other was something I had never tried an Orangsicle (?) thingy (sorry I can't remember the details since husband picked it out). It was very sweet but we couldn't stop eating until we had scraped every molecule off the glass and we talked about it all the way home. The service was excellent. We were seated instantly and despite every table being full we never felt like we were waiting. Our waitress checked on us often without feeling like we were hassled and quickly got the answers for all my husband's beer snob questions. Will definitely return and bring our guests to show off what great restaurants Durango has to offer. Thank you to brightening up an otherwise crappy day! read more

We love to try local restaurants when we travel and this one did not disappoint! We stopped through Durango on our way to Park City, Utah and searched for a breakfast restaurant that served some unique and ordinary dishes. I ordered Heuvos Rancheros with local chorizo and it was delicious. Next time, I will ask for an extra side of green chilies so that I get spice in every bite. We also had the malted waffle. It was very good, but wish the syrup was served warm. My daughter had Sweet Potato Hash and the sweet potatoes were not cooked all the through, so it was our least favorite dish. My husband ordered Mexican Scramble and he loved it! The hashbrowns are a must no matter what you order! Oh, and , we loved the décor! read more

Bad food, average beer. Had Beef Boulanais, very Sub par. The vegetables were from frozen foods aisle. Go elsewhere.....

In town for business and decided to give Carvers a go after ten plus years. Of course we remember the burgers and the bread bowl. Tried the bread bowl with chicken soup, Caesar salad, and three of the variety of burgers they had on the menu. The burgers were juicy and I ordered salad instead of fries with my Rodeo burger. Bread bowl was good as I remember and of course who doesn't love bread! Even got butter to finish off the bread that the soup was served in. Overall a great experience and the wait service was pretty good even as it picked up with the lunch crowd. Definitely need to try the breakfast next time we are town based on the reviews. read more

Friendly service here and I had a delicious imperial stout, not quite as good as the special anniversary one at Ska at the moment but for one town to have two in this category at all is a marvel. The info about the beers is really useful. Bf enjoyed both his beers although I don't think he was totally blown away. We were almost put off coming by the relatively early closing hour but they were happy to serve customers past it so I think it's just to give them flexibility if it's really quiet - is worth taking a chance and you always have Steamworks nearby to move on to. read more

This was our first trip to Durango. We were excited about trying some of the local breweries. Carver B C did not disappoint. Unique menu even uses some local ingredients. The Mahi Mahi stuffed Pablano Pepper & the Cajun Chicken Mac and Cheese were delish. Beer selection was great. We really enjoyed the Raspberry Wheat & the Old Oak Amber Ale. Our waiter Slade was amazing. The seating was a bit tight & the room a bit loud (high ceilings) but could still converse. We will definitely be returning. read more

Great patio. Artichoke Green Chili dip, and desserts are amazing to this St Louis native.

The green chili pork soup was delicious. Thank goodness, because it was the only item on the menu that sounded good to me. My husband enjoyed his reuben sandwich, but was not super-impressed. Another person in our group ordered the chicken enchilada and it was so tiny. Our server was friendly and upbeat. Our food came out only a minute or so after our appetizer arrived, so that was a bit annoying. read more
