This place is amazing. A hidden gem of Las Vegas near the Fremont Street Experience. We found this place via Google and it did not disappoint. We shared the grape and burrito salad (delicious!!), and the turkey burger which was very unique. We had a large group and our bill ended up being over $450.00. We ordered various menu items that came out 'when they were ready' so it was really disjointed. How can you bring out 2 orders of tater tots and leave the last order until last? We took the bus from the main Vegas strip to go and explore Freemont Street and figured while we were there, might as well grab a nice dinner. Looked up Yelp reviews and this place came on top, so thought we'd walk over and try it out. The location is just right around the corner from the main Freemont St area, so it was an easy walk. We were seated right away, but we were also early for a normal dinner time. Definitely recommended making reservations as the seating area inside seemed limited. The service was friendly and our waitress was educated about the menu. We went with her recommendations of the steak and fish dishes and they were AMAZING. I didn't want my last bite of steak to end with the delicious chimichurri sauce on it. And the fish was perfectly cooked with a crunchy skin (I hate when other places make it soggy). Went here for the first time today for mid-afternoon lunch. It's a small space for the dining area, we had no reservations, so me and my friend sat at the counter facing the kitchen. Everything is a la carte on their menu. We did not have any alcohol. I had the jerk turkey burger and tots which was good. We got talked into sharing dessert by our charming waitress so we tried the glazed donut bread pudding, which was sweet and good. The only thing I had issue with was when we got the bill, the tip had already been added. My friend had noticed this before I did. I would rather have a choice to tip. Hoo whee you need to get here - brave the construction because IT IS WORTH IT. Walked in without a reservation on a Sunday afternoon (4ish) but based on the people in the place after we left an hour later I'd suggest a reservation. We got five plates to share and two desserts for two people - it was enough for us to be satisfied and then have another full meal the next day. Everything reheated beautifully as well. The chicken skin was so good as the first plate out; super crispy but not burnt and the honey dip really enhanced it. Next out were the hot dog burnt ends. We spent a good five minutes trying to figure out how we could recreate this at home, it was so good. Then we got the cauliflower and I am not kidding when I say we seriously debated getting another order right then and there. This was the only dish we killed at the sitting - the lemon was just enough to really enhance the cauliflower. Last out were the risotto and the mac and cheese. The risotto was earthy and unctuous and even better the next day. The mac and cheese was perfect - no exaggeration. The blend of cheeses used kept us guessing long into our night out, and the texture of the pasta was on point. The lemon bar and the bread pudding we ordered to go, and we were out for about eight hours after dinner. It was the perfect thing to come home to for a late night treat. That's what happened to me. I called ahead and spoke to their manager who was willing to make some accommodations for me but I didn't want to throw the kitchen off so I ate before getting to Carson. Our group was a total of six and there were multiple appetizers and drinks to go around. One diner had the 'Everybody loves Monica' - Gin, Pernod, Oranage Curacao, Egg White, Fennel Bitters. Well... In theory the menu sounds good, but unfortunately everything fell flat. The bbqed oysters were too small. When you bbq oysters they lose moisture and shrivel up which is why you generally see a larger oyster used for this dish. There was barely any oyster left by the time they were served to us. Also, I'm not sure of the culprit, but one of these dishes gave my partner and I bowel issues the rest of the evening and I'm going to assume it was these which made them extra not worth it. The burger was flavorless. The beef wasn't salted enough and the pickles lacked any semblance of acidity which was extremely disappointing. Even the vessel the tater tots were served in led to the tater tots steaming and getting soft. The meatloaf was... Well a hunk of meat, but completely doused in an extremely sweet bbq sauce. It didn't even come with a mashed potato or anything to help soak up all of the extra sauce. The only dish that was okay was the cauliflower. It was balanced and flavorful. In short, outstanding food without a hint of pretense. It's become popular for restaurants to start your evening by asking you "would you like bottled water - sparkling or still?" The intention is obvious - sell you a $12 bottle of water that's no better than what comes out of the tap. They won't ask you that here. Nor will you find white tablecloths. What you will find is some of the most delicious and creative shared dish dining in Las Vegas. The restaurant is tucked into an eccentric building at the corner of 6th and Carson, just a block or so off of Fremont Street in the arts district. About half of the tables are outside in largely unadorned courtyard that is more the space between two buildings than anything else. But then the food arrives. There is so much creativity on this menu. Where else are you going to find "hot dog burnt ends?!" I had to order these just to find out what they were. They were absolutely delicious segmented hot dog style sausages, charred (or maybe smoked) tossed in a delicious BBQ sauce. They are served with sliced pickles and a piece of white bread. I'd go back for this dish alone. We were a party of three so we tried lots of shared dishes. We started with one (or was it two) of their specialty cocktails, all of which were wonderful. Stand out dishes included crispy skin trout in curry. Absolutely delicious!! Black (forbidden) rice and oxtail "risotto." A perfect accompaniment to other dishes, or eat it alone - no one will judge you! Killer Shrimp rocoto & aji amarillo pepper cream - these were deep fried to crispy perfection and we fought over the last few bites. For dessert: Bourbon Fudge Brownie with brown butter bacon and ice cream. Ridiculously good. T-shirt wearing servers were friendly and attentive. The Devil's eggs were good, nice presentation, descent tasting. Never had caviar before, but won't be seeking it out again anytime soon, as I found it had no flavor at all. Now, the hot dog burnt ends on the other hand were crazy good! I've tried making these myself, but they were never this good. Dogs were sliced at an angle, and then appeared to be chargrilled before getting mixed up in a sweet BBQ sauce. They were delicious! I had the sloppy joe and thought it was very good. The presentation of each meal was beautifully detailed. Each item on the plate combined with everything else to create such an immaculate flavor. While the portion sizes may look small, the items are hearty and will fill you right up. The items we ordered were: - We started off with the "Devil's Eggs" with crispy pancetta and caviar - SO tasty. And look at the presentation in the pictures, it is so beautiful. - The Pork Belly with buffalo bleu beurre blanc. One of my favorites, and it's crazy because I don't typically care for buffalo sauce, but it went so wonderfully well together. - The Bacon Jam with Havarti and toasted baguette - this was THE favorite. I have a major sweet tooth, and this made my inner child so, so, so happy with its flavors *drooling right now*. - Black Rice & Oxtail Risotto with parmesan - I was a bit hesitant to order this one, but I'm glad we did because it was delicious. Definitely on the heavier side, but the flavor play is insane. - The Killer Shrimp with rocoto and aji amarillo pepper cream was my boyfriend's favorite, and it was wonderful. - And we ended the meal with the Glazed Donut Bread Pudding that had three rum caramel, and vanilla crème anglaise.
