Here we are again writing a not so good review. So I just bought a car for my grand daughter at the beginning of December 2018 and so far here are all the things that needed to be done before I even give it to her. 1)Front Struts, 2)Front Rotors, 3)Emergency Brake, 4)Tail Pipe, and just the other morning when I drove the car into work I got a flat tire, but glad it happened to me instead of her she would of been scared since she is a new driver. I called AAA who I love and the guy tried to put air in the tires first because the tries look good. Nope the tires had a leak on the sidewall and we know we can't patch those. So that evening after work I took the car back to CarMax and left it so they can put new tires on the car. Oh and by the way the tires that were on the car were CHEAP tires. Now they were to put on BF Goodrich tires and told me they would only pay for the mounting of 2 tires which I think is BS. This company makes so much money its a shame and they don't want to do anything extra for the customers. Well I pick the car up on Friday the 21st and lets see how much they are gonna milk out of me then, they quoted me $271 for 4 tires, but then I have to pay to have them mounted and the taxes. I told them what if something would of happened because of the tires or if my granddaughter was driving and got hurt. They sure would of been in a lot of trouble because I would of took them to court for selling the car like that. Just know this CarMax does not do anything for the cars they get beside check the fluids and maybe an oil change. If you buy a car make sure they have done all the services on the car before to decide to keep it. These places never do the recommended services on these cars. They detail them and put them on the lot. I would never send anyone here and if it was up to me I would give them back this car. Not happy at all. read more

The great experience and customer service is why I decided to post this Google review. On Thursday, around 7pm, I arrived at Modesto Carmax for a test drive appointment. Sonya greeted me at the front desk and assisted me in my potential purchase. She was very kind and even patient with me multiple times. I realized my proof of insurance was missing when she brought me the vehicle and she patiently waited while me and my wife searched for an online source. I had a trade in offer that I was disappointed in and she calmly and clearly explained to me what their process is with trade ins. That explanation and understanding made me a lot more comfortable with their trade in offer. Around 9pm, I was still indecisive about moving forward with the purchase. I asked her if I could have some time to talk it over with my wife and she happily allowed it. While I was discussing the decision, she came back and apologized that their detailing crew had went home for the night. She mentioned that she would not be available Friday. Even with her not being available, she offered me a hold on everything. The truck, financing, and trade in offer with no strings attached. I gladly accepted the hold and decided to return Friday. When I returned Friday, I was greeted by another sales associate, Jordan. Jordan continued with me from where I left off with Sonya the previous night. Jordan was extremely friendly and handled a concern I had about the purchase vehicle. These great experiences with Sonya and Jordan was the deciding factor of purchasing the vehicle. After deciding to purchase the vehicle, Jordan went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of every step of the way. Although we didn't buy a car here, we had a great time shopping around and dealing with Ryan M. He was really helpful and I would go back to buy my next car. After reading a few of your comments, I think it is necessary to explain to you that not all the cars they buy from you will they sell at Carmax. A lot of them are taken to auction. However, I don't think their inspections are really accurate. If you buy from here, don't buy the extended warranty- it doesn't cover anything. Also, GO GET YOUR CAR CHECKED OUT after buying it. Yes! Go to the mechanic and get it inspected. Why? CarMax report on my car said it had a great transmission. EH, no- it doesn't. They quoted the same price on my car as did Roberts. Also, consider these things when buying: Manufacturer's Warranty Available? Extra financing cost on cars by year and mileage. Add it all up and compare to another car/dealer. However, I love the no-haggle. If that concerns you at the other dealerships- come to carmax. Last tip, I promise- The financiers are not your friends at the other dealerships. They want to add $ for warranties, certifications, $ for GAP. They will LIE LIE LIE. Don't believe them. Read your contracts before signing. read more

This was my first experience with CarMax and it will not be my last! Everyone we dealt with from sales to the business office was Absolutely Amazing!! They were patient and very accommodating to me & my husband. The sales people we dealt with were Mo and Pavel. Absolutely Amazing individuals. So kind.. & patient. I ended up with a vehicle that I am very happy with that they brought down for me from another city. Thank you Pavel for your Outstanding customer service. You were patient and so kind to me and my husband. I know people are skeptical but I promise.. everything they say they are going to do.. They do!! I took back a vehicle that was just not for me and they got me in a vehicle that I am very pleased with. We also sold one of our vehicles to them. The process was easy and accommodating. I had some DMV hiccups on my end but CarMax was patient and kept their word 100% & we had a check in 30 min. when it was all wrapped up. I was shocked!! It was that easy!! We went to Car max to test drive a car that was transferred to Modesto per our request and at no cost!!!We test drove car, no pressure, didn't buy it! Our sales girl, Allyssa, was so great she found me another car, a beautiful hybrid Kia, that I loved and bought, that day! Great experience!!! 2weeks later my new car was totaled by my husband! So back to Car max on line shopping found another Kia in Fresno and had it shipped to Modesto, no charge! When we went to test drive, we requested are wonderful sales girl, Allyssa!!! I loved the car and left with it that day! We financed, this time, with Car Max, who gave us the same interest rate as our credit union! The process was very organized and efficient, the whole process from test drive to driving off in my new Kia Hybrid took 1-1/2 hours! Two employees they're basically just lost their commission and maybe a sale for this business.Very rude and very unprofessional not OK you can't smile and customers faces and then turn around and talk to other employees about the customers.People come here to buy cars not to be profile. If you can't take a customer that knows what they want then you need to get out of this business. telling another employee that you're going to put a customer In check is basically disrespectful. They have a fat ass employee there who was talking shit. He has no room to talk. #fatboy then you got a lady there with a bad ass tan tan so bad that it was orange. #js You have no room to talk about anybody. But if you want great customer service make sure you go see Ray. My car buying experience at Modesto CarMax was very easy. I made an appointment to have a current car appraised. The moment I walked in I was created by a sales representative. The appraisal was completed in 30 minutes. During that time I was interviewed regarding what type of vehicle I was interested in including the price I was willing to pay. Once the appraisal was done I had an amount to work with. I was looking for a small SUV and was shown quite a few to choose from. Then I narrowed it down to 3 to go check out. The 3 vehicles were located close to each other. I easily chose one based on mileage, year, and leather seats which was one of my criteria since I have 2 big labradors. The process to complete the transactions of trading in and purchasing a another vehicle was easy. I am very satisfied with CarMax and with my SUV! read more

First and foremost I downloaded this just to give credit to where it's due. I Had a great experience purchasing a car. Not only from it being from CarMax but from Clara the Sales Consultant. We hit a series of speed bumps due to my part and she worked very hard to get me in the car that I wanted. She was very thorough and did not leave any stone unturned. My overall experience was excellent! From start to finish the process was easy, efficient, transparent and professional. I got an online quote for a vehicle I was looking to sell. Went in a few days later for the official appraisal and it actually came in a few hundred dollars higher than my online quote! Cha-Ching! The remaining process-paperwork itself took less than hour and I had a check in hand as I walked out. Highly recommend looking into carmax if you want to trade or sell your car. I found the CARMAX in Modesto to a professionally run organization. I found the car I wanted on-line. I linked up with a consultant and he found a very similar vehicle in San Francisco and had it shipped over to Modesto. Saved me $1000.00 in the process, very similar vehicles, no problem. I came down to Modesto to test drive the car and the sales process was very smooth. Some waiting for processing but less than an hour all totaled. This company is a dam shame! the car is good for the first month when you have that month that you can take it back to get anything fixed for free. but after that month is up everything goes wrong. they don't tell you that anything is or could be wrong with the car. and they also don't keep to their word when they say it when through a hundred point check thingy before they give you the car because if they checked my car it wouldn't have needed over $400 worth of work done to it the second month i had it. i read more

We went in to buy one vehicle and the staff was on it. Candice and Melvin handled everything seamlessly. We requested 2 additional vehicles be moved to the modesto location and that went great too. We purchased one of them. Rhey was great too, covering for the first team. He got the second sale done. Jamal did the paperwork for both. I went to Carmax a long time ago, and I was not impressed. The Salesman hovered over us, so we left. I decided to try it one more time, and I was glad I did. Always wanted a Chevrolet Volt, but had never driven one. I went to the dealership to test drive...loved it...had a car transferred from Fairfield. The car was at Carmax in Modest the very next day. Tony went out of his way to help me even on his day off, which was not expected and totally appreciated. Very good customer service. I didn't buy a car here eventually because I got a better trade in value at another dealer. I think they did low ball me on my trade in but it did have little transmission problem. I think it was great that they can transport a car into the Modesto location from other places for free in some cases. You can test drive multiple models and makes at one time. read more

I was able to reserve a car; have it transported to Modesto to drive and decide; then purchase...all in 3 days. I really needed a car that quickly; and they made it happen.
