Don't waste your time at this location. Worst customer experience trying to buy a car for my son. I had originally set an appointment at the Henderson carmax at 8pm. They appraised our car right away , however we waited 50 minutes and they had no salesman to help us. So the manager Chaz came and explaine to us that they close at 9pm and wouldn't have anyone to help us so we would have to come back the next day. I asked him why we needed to come back when we had an appointment at 8pm and I made 3 days ago . He said it was an appointment to reserve the car but it didn't guarantee a salesman to help us. Seriously... then what's the point of making an appointment if I can't drive and buy the car. I've bought 29 cars in my life and never have been turned away especially after having an appointment. If there's no one to help a customer and you're the manager, then you're supposed to help the customer. That's management 101 common sense people. Needless to say we didn't go back , but because they gave us a good price on the trade my son found a great car at the centennial store. I explained to Brady the manager what happened in Henderson and he took care of us right away. He gave us the best salesman Rain. Rain was so nice and answered all our questions. He even explained by putting in the extended warranty in the loan and adding the money we were going to pay for it out of pocket to our down payment, it lowered our interest rate by 1.5% APR. Which dropped the payment $50 , we were blown away. My son got a 2020 altima with less than 2k miles, practically brand new. He is happy as can be, and yes it took until 9:30 pm to finish the paperwork and they didn't kick us out or make us come back the next day. Was a nightmare experience working with Carmax. I bought a vehicle from them and within one month I had 4 service appointments. My car was in service longer than I was able to drive it during my first month of purchasing. Multiple transmission issues. I spoke with customer relations to voice my concerns. They sounded like they were eager to help resolve my dissatisfaction. They transferred me to Service Manager Chad from this location. While I did not by the vehicle from this location, I did get it serviced here. Chad offered little to no help. He offered nothing more than a "sorry". He seemed uninterested in the conversation and offered zero accommodation for this inconvenience. Very let down by this whole experience. If at all possible, don't buy from Carmax, and certainly don't get it serviced at this location. The only positive part to this experience was my wonderful service advisor Danny. So I came in here last week thinking it's time to upgrade my car. So in called to get a appointment to evaluate my car. I came in for my appointment and the moment I popped in I was able to get some help by the front desk. I really recommend calling and making an appointment to avoid waiting. The person who helped asked a few question and then I had the next 30 or so minutes to just relax before my car was fully appraised. Only down side is that there was no coffee, drinks, or snacks other than vending machines. I got my appraisal which was pretty on point to what I was expecting. And no hassle or anything. I reserved a vehicle online on Saturday. I received a confirmation email the same day stating the vehicle was reserved to drive on Monday. I took time off of work, drove across town and the vehicle is not here. There was no communication from them to reschedule. No explanation why and they weren't concerned at all that I wasted my time and gas driving here. The first time my husband and I bought a car here we had a pretty smooth experience. I attribute some of that to the fact that we were not "shopping around". We knew exactly what we wanted, found it online, and had it shipped to our location with the expectation of buying it barring some unforeseen issue with the car. This time, I did a lot of research when I needed a car to fit 3 carseats across, and I thought I narrowed it down well, but still needed to see the options, test drive, and shop around. This location and my sales person did not make this a pleasant or welcoming environment or process. I scheduled to have a vehicle shipped CarMax Henderson so I could see and test drive it. When I got there, I told the sales person that it was the first time I was looking at this particular make/model so I wasn't sure it was right for me. She replied, "If I knew you were just looking, I would have showed you one we already had on the lot." I was almost made to feel like I did something wrong by reserving this particular vehicle, and it made us uncomfortable. Not to mention, if the website showed any of this specific make/model/year/trim on their lot, I would have been happy to reserve that one instead. When the original car turned out not to be the right fit, she let us wander around the lot by ourselves. She offered no significant help or guidance. When there was one particular car on the website that I wanted to see, she had me walking all over the lot (at 7 months pregnant with 2 toddlers in tow) to try and find it, instead of inviting us to sit inside while she looked. Oh, and she never found it. When I finally thought I narrowed it down well enough I had a vehicle shipped from California that I was pretty certain I wanted. It was supposed to arrive within 7 days but, almost 2 weeks later, I still hadn't heard from them. I finally found the same make/model/year at a local dealership and, before making a decision, I really wanted to see the one I'd had shipped to CarMax. When I called, they said it was there, but was being held up for inspection. After explaining the situation (I was interested in the car but I wanted to make a decision quickly in case the one at the dealership sold) they told me there was nothing they could do to expedite the process. The sales person at that time was rude and unhelpful. I wound up buying a car from a dealership instead of Carmax and I still never heard about the vehicle that I had placed on hold. There were many times where a car was showing on the lot, but the sales person couldn't locate it. That mixed with no updates in the shipping process, and the car seemingly getting "lost" in transit, makes me think that Carmax as a whole doesn't have a reliable database or system. They should be able to locate cars on their lot in a more reliable manner than simply walking all over asking the customer "What color is it?" I won't come back for my next vehicle. read more

Car was not in the best shape and I fully anticipated they were going to try to screw me on the initial offer. Not at all! They were very fair with their price they offered me, especially considering the insulting trade in offer I was getting at another dealership that I was purchasing a car from. My mom purchased this car from carmax in Fremont CA. We took a roadie trip to Nevada and the car broke down. Had it towed to carmax in Henderson NV, since that was the closest Carmax to us spoke to one of the sales managers there on a Saturday, August 13 and they said they'll have somebody look at it on Monday which was going to be August 15. Nobody never looked at the car Tuesday on August 16 steel nobody had lookeat the car that morning reached out to Carmax and ask them. Hey have you had a chance to look at it they said that they were having a hard time getting the car in there and that they will give me a call at the end of business day, Belinda in service she calls me and say we have some bad news the engine is and we can go ahead and fix the car or we can see what we do to get you another one. My mom says we'll go ahead and just fix the car OK so in the process of them fixing the car they had it from August 13 all the way up until September 12 almost a month they had told me that the engine had came in two weeks before and said that the car will be ready on Labor Day. OK my mom was more than patient with Carmaxx pick the car up for my mother on September 12 around 330. Had to return the car by 6:45 in the afternoon, the car would not go over 20 mph. It was shaking it was steel stuttering and now they are posting the same car where the engine just blew up on their website as coming soon when they need to do a thorough inspection of that vehicle, and make sure that car is actually drivable at the end of the day Carmax handling this situation has been very frustrating and time-consuming. My mom return to California and Carmax in Fremont issued my mom a check and because they've been doing fraudulent activity with the account that they've been writing checks from to the consumers. The check has been on hold since Tuesday, September 13 , my mom's down payment is still on hold and here it is Friday, September 16 reached out to corporate office. Corporate office turned around and transferred me back to Fremont California office and the people at Wells Fargo bank basically said hey so many people has been coming in to the bank getting their down payment back with Carmax because they are not inspecting these cars and they are breaking down my mother purchased that car on August 5 even paid a transfer fee and put tenet windows on it as you can see from the pictures below this post is solely intended to make you guys aware of the situation at hand and make sure anybody that purchased that 2013 mini Cooper countryman have that car thoroughly inspected because like I said the engine blew up they said they fixed it picked it up and had to turn around and take it back three hours later please look at the pictures below is the exact same car that my mother purchased and now they're trying to resell basically a lemon read more

They broke my driver mirror and tried to say it wasn't their fault or responsibility to fix it ! The damaged occurred after I had taken the vehicle in for service for leaking antifreeze fluids! This was the second repair for the same issue! The first time they called me and told me the care was fixed and but it was worse then than when I dropped it off! They also damaged the back of my bumper and got paint on it! They buffed out the paint and then said it was house paint not found on their lot! How irresponsible and lack of accountability! Be warned! The service manager was useless and failed to provide any updates! The service front line was very calm and responsive but the manager showed lack of leadership! The only reason they get 2 stars is for their front line worker's . They are replacing my mirror but only after I complained! Make it right carmax! read more

Footnotes on my experience Waited over an hour after my appointment time to buy the car after spending $700 to ship it. Car had a broken seat (they tossed the part in the backseat), dead battery, and bad fuel tank which I wasn't told until after signing. Fuel tank took 2.5 weeks calling everyday to say the part was "on order". I finally call their executive office and the part magically came in an hour later. A day after picking it up there was red fluid all over my garage and the car was smoking out of both sides. I was told "we usually test them after the repair but we wanted to get it back to you ASAP". Car is now back in the shop with no ETA. Avoid this company! All the pre-inspection and high standards talk is total BS. read more

Their numbers online are high and once you get there you get lowballed. My suggestion - go to the local dealer who sells the brand for the best price. So with the hassle-free services they have here, it was definitely a pleasant buying experience. We had researched a car online prior to the visit and wanted to see a certain one. We get there and Shannon approached us and offered her assistance. We looked around at other models, but the BF had is eye on the one we saw online. We test drove it, and he fell in love. Shannon pulled numbers and added in the trade in value for his old car. She showed us different financing options and the BF was happy with the result. We went off to go sign the paperwork and bam!! Done!! Our "new" car was outside waiting for us, washed and shiny. All in only 2 hours!! Shannon was with us the whole way through. She was so friendly and personable. She explained everything so thoroughly and was very patient with my BF and all his questions. It was nice of her to sit with us with during the signing to answer any last minute questions we had. I was at this carmax earlier today Michael Ponte is the appraiser/buyer that finalized my appraisal .... First he offered me 27,900 then came back again to low ball me 25,000 said it was because my car was wrapped . I wrapped it to protect the paint so it would be pristine condition just like new. What really left a bad taste in my mouth was how they bait and switched me I felt really hustled . It's a three year old car in outstanding condition with only 13,300 miles ! They could've easily sold it for 34k .... but he did advise me to go to autonation and I thank him for that . Purchased a car July 1st 2023, was told they just did an oil change on it and everything else was good. In December my tire pressure light started to come on a few different times, I finally took it in to a tire place near me, and was told all 4 of my tires are extremely dry rotten and my oil was filthy and hadn't been changed in a long time. I have only gone about 1500 miles since the purchase and was told I didn't need another oil change for 5000 miles. So I had to spend $1200 on 4 new tires, an oil change and an alignment. Carmax told me the oil change was done right before purchase and tires were in good condition. Both of those were not true. The tire technician that helped me replace them told me if I hadn't done them now, I was at high risk of blowing the side of my tire one day soon. I am very disappointed in carmax for this and I will never shop at a carmax ever again. I just don't understand how anyone can sell a car with tires that are 5 years old and rotten, and tell you everything is good. I am disgusted with my experience with them and I hope this review helps someone not get into the same situation. read more

Initially, I went to the Carmax at the Sahara location. The salesperson was nice, but 4 out of the 5 cars that I had looked at had some major cosmetic issues. Like one car had what looked like a coffee stain/blood in the inside headliner as well as one of the speaker covers looking like a hot curling iron melted it. Also, missing engine piece covers, batteries that were older than 5 years, ding/dents that were very noticeable, and fluids weren't changed or topped off. Just not very appealing so me and my nephew decided to go to the Henderson location since it had a few vehicles that I was interested in. The vehicles at this location were in so much better condition. I mean some cars had a few superficial scratches, but with the several cars I looked at, they were all in near immaculate condition. It just looked liked they were inspected more carefully and treated with more care. Fluids were new, most of them also topped off, tires, brakes, and rotors looked like they were in descent shape. Tatiana and George were awesome, really nice down to earth, and super honest people. Had some troubles with my bank since I was pre-approved but my approval wasn't 100% finalized, so I wasn't able to pick up a car the same day, but once the approval went through, everything went through without a hitch. I have to say that reading some of the reviews gave me hesitation but our experience was really great. We were selling a car and this was so much easier than placing ads and dealing with hagglers, and I think we got a really good price for the car (over blue book value) and certainly close enough to what we could have gotten selling privately to make it worth it when you factor in time and convenience. The process was easy: got an online quote, brought the car in, they looked it over and gave us exactly what the quote was. Quick and smooth, and everyone was friendly, especially Lex who helped us. Troy was extremely rude, racist and condescending. I went in to hopefully sell my JEEP 7/1/23 at about 9:30am. From the moment he greeted he was very rude. The was a younger white male standing next to him that seemed to be more pleasant and helpful. But Troy overall took over the whole exchange. He whispered to the younger white male a derogatory assumption about white people and I would rather not repeat it. Mind you Troy is of darker complexion and to my appearance seemed like an older Hispanic male. I am not sure why CarMax has him out in the open greeting customers and taking on potential vehicle sales with a racist vendetta against lighter complexion individuals. Mind you I am actually Mexican just fair toned skin. When I continued the rest of the encounter I made sure to speak to him in Spanish to make him aware and his entire demeanor changed. AVOID THIS LOCATION! I showed up to this location last week to look at cars. I was greeted and asked if I had been helped. I gave a brief description of what I was looking for and was pointed to the appropriate aisle. So far the service was fair enough. After looking at a few models I decided to go back inside. I was hoping for some assistance with narrowing down my search, as the selection was a bit overwhelming. At this point I couldn't seem to get anyone to give me the time of day. There were plenty of employees standing around doing nothing. I asked a few sales associates for some backing and they were all "busy". I look very young and experience this type of ageist discrimination from time to time. My credit is pristine and I had cash. You shouldn't prejudge the worth or value of someone, by their outward appearance alone. Please train your staff! To add credence to my review; feel free to check out my profile. I've never given less than 5 stars to a business. Let's just get that out of the way. I will not disclose the day that this happened because my goal is not get anyone "in trouble". Five stars all the way! I made an online appointment at Carmax to sell my car. I showed up, was instantly greeted and registered in the system. My car was appraised and an offer for my car was presented. The offer was more than acceptable and I went ahead with the transaction. Start to finish the process took about two hours, and I left telling my husband that it was the smoothest experience. Also, they are extremely diligent about sanitizing stations between customers. I saw chairs and tables being sprayed down between customers, employees washing their hands immediately after interacting with customers, chairs adequately spaced out to enforce social distancing, and the computers were set up where I was viewing a monitor while the employee was far away on their own monitor. Worst Carmax in the world... maybe the universe. Their mechanics are awful, I'm wondering if they bill stuff so they can make more money. They don't inspect the cars well at this location. AVOID THIS CARMAX! There's something off with this location. It's like the mechanics are either trying to make more money by having the car constantly brought in, or they're just really dumb. Every person I know who's purchased a used car from here has had problems. Even though they claim they inspect the vehicles, my car had numerous issues days after I got it. The brakes for example.
