If you want a miserable car selling experience, come here. I made an appointment twice on the internet to bring my car in for an appraisal, they canceled my appointment twice because "drop in" customers were filling up. They tell everyone that walks in that we are busy but we should take about an hour to do the appraisal and paperwork. At the time of writing this I have been waiting 2 hours and 45 minutes. You're truly better off selling your car on your own. It's faster and you won't be fed a bunch of lies. read more

Nothing but good things to say about our CarMax experience; our Sales guy Todd was glad to show us all the models we were interested in, and then test drive the final two we liked to compare. Decided on an Acura RDX, but nothing on the lot matched the color / configuration we wanted. Searched the web and found a match; paid the $199 to ship the car to us, and after a final test drive / inspection it was great! Cherry on top was that CarMax financing beat our credit union pre-approval by half a percent. Really happy with the car at the price we wanted, will definitely shop CarMax in the future. read more

No question were I'll go next time I get a car. P.S. Been waiting over48 minutes after my truck was estimated for $7,000. Told me it would be fast and easy to sell my truck. So called my work and told them I would be running late. Didn't expect to turn into 2 hour wait at Carmax So far I been waiting for Carmax to pay me out the $7,000 I was offered. Slow service Didn't even offer me a water. Bad customer service. Wow! What a friendly and professional operation. We arrived at 10:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Was immediately greeted by friendly Carmax employee. He entered my name in the system and ask me to have a seat and someone would be with me shortly. Chris arrived to ask me how he could help? Told him I was there to sell my vehicle. He was polite, professional and detailed. Chris told us it would be about 45 minutes to assess our vehicle. No problem. Within 30 minutes our phone rang and Chris told us our offer was ready. CarMax honored the estimate given through the internet. Wow! We promptly accepted the offer and Chris handed over the paperwork for us to take to the cashier. We dropped everything off with the cashier, Julian who told us it would be about an hour to get the paperwork done. No problem. My husband and I went to have lunch and received a phone call from CarMax that they were ready to give us our check. When we arrived back, Katy greeted us at the cashier window. She walked us through the paperwork and we were out the door within fifteen minutes. What a great experience! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we the CarMax staff made us feel comfortable and seemed to value our time. Hats of to this CarMax location! They have earned our recommendation! read more

I'll start off by saying that I HATE dealerships or any type of business where I'm hassled by a sales person. This was my first experience with CarMax. (I've always known what it was, I've just always haggled to get the best possible deal) it's different from any other dealer. They really are the CostCo of car dealerships. They have fair prices and friendly staff. Julia made our transition into our CX-5 a breeze! Thank you Julia! read more

Let me start first by saying my entire experience with CarMax has been exceptional. I will start first with Eddie who helped me snag an amazing car in Cali even though I live in NJ. Yes, I had to pay the fee to get it to King of Prussia, Pa, but it was worth it. When I first found this car on CarMax online, I had placed the car on hold. But ... I let the car go and moved on to another car at another dealer. After careful consideration, the red Lexus convertible at CarMax (instead of the white one at another dealer), kept calling to me. It was in Cali, never saw snow but the drawback was, it could take up to a month to get. But ... with low mileage, perfect color combo, and it was a car I heavily researched, I decided to go for it. Eddie was honest and kept me informed of everything from beginning to end. He did the walk around with me, checked the car out and answered a hundred questions I had. He let me text him constantly and was super nice each time. I talked with him many times over the next few days making the arrangements to send the car to the east coast. He took any fear that I had out of buying with CarMax away. I love this company now because of him. And what do you know? I was in luck! Instead of a month, the car was in Pa in just one week!! the process to pick up the car was simple, professional and courteous. Above all ... I would NOT have this AMAZING car if it wasn't for Eddie. Thank you CarMax and thank you Eddie for all of your hard work, professionalism and personal care. What a great car! I love it! Tracie Jules read more

CarMax - 2012 Lexus IS250C - Used Car Dealers Near Me - Escondido, California

My experience with CarMax Escondido was been extremely negative and I honestly do not trust them or do not believe what they tell you is done to the cars they sell are actually done. On a mechanical & safety review alone, I would give them a -10 rating. I was excited when I purchased a 2013 Prius from this dealership in 2017; however I quickly learned things they guaranteed were done to the car (like the standard 125 point check) to give buyers confidence in driving their new used car was definitely not true. After having the car a few months, I learned they sold me a 2013 car that had 17 YEAR OLD TIRES on it and it was extremely dangerous to be driving. How could the mechanic performing the 125 point service check have missed something so vital? Next issue, when I purchased the car, the salesman and the service dept said the car needs an oil change appr. every 10,000 miles so I proceeded to get my oil changed at Toyota Kearny Mesa after I drove the car 9,800 miles and they told me the oil filter was put on so tightly they could not get it off without breaking it. The last person to do the oil change was supposedly CarMax Escondido so I called the service dept and explained I felt they were responsible. I then emailed the service manager Nick Quenga in great length explaining the issues I had experienced and explained I was extremely disappointed and wanted his help in resolving my current problem. After a few days of no response, I called and left a message on this voicemail. 11 days later he responded via email implying perhaps the filter was on so tightly because I waited nearly 10,000 miles to get the oil changed. It was pretty much icing on the cake. His lack of sympathy & effort to make things right after many failed attempts of poor service and lack of mechanical excellence has me completely sworn off Carmax now. His leadership of retaining happy customers is NOT his priority and that makes me wonder what his priority is. read more

Brought my car by on a Saturday, it was looking fairly busy, parking lot was full and I didn't have an appointment. I did have my online instant appraisal. I will say, handing over my key, title and registration gave me a knot on my stomach. But in the end, they gave me what they offered in the instant appraisal, and didn't withhold any for "dealer fees". Quite a pleasant experience. read more

PUNCTUALITY I went in this morning. I got there at 10:50am because the hours online say they open at 11am. They opened right on time. Five stars for punctuality. SERVICE I was the first one there and Jeff came and helped me. He was really great and didn't try to salesman me as I told him I was there to get a quote for my car and I needed to be out in 30 min. I was finished with a quote printed and in my had within 20 minutes. Great service and he was a really nice person to talk to. Thank you, Jeff. Great service! CLEAN This location is always clean inside. When I was waiting for the store to open I was checking out some of the cars. They all looked like they had just been washed. OVERALL Everything is was great, great experience. I went in with an idea for what my car was worth. And they were right on! I was happy with everything. Will absolutely go back and ask for Jeff. I've not stepped into a car dealership since 1997, not had a car payment since 1999. Out of necessity & being highly recommended, I headed fo the local CarMax in Escondido. I was greeted immediately & was able to present my dilemma that put me in position to find a nice new to me vehicle. I appreciate the info shared by Ray N. the no pressure environment. I made it known I only wanted to work with 1 person for this even if the suv I wanted was not there. Well a few days later I found what I wanted on online, had it shipped to Escondido. I got the call from Ray and met him the next day to buy my 09 Chevy Trailblazer! I could not be happier with the experience! Thanks Ray & Carmax!!!! read more

There are pros and cons to this place... I'll start with the pros... 1) They have a lot of car options. You can look at pretty much every model at the same time. 2) The sales people aren't pushy. It's almost like they could care less if they sell you a car. 3) While you aren't going to get a great deal on a car here, you won't get hosed on one either. Cons... 1) If you have good credit, find outside funding for a loan. There rates were 7-9% for us and the local credit union was 2%. 2) If you want an extended warranty, again, cheaper with outside companies. 3) If you want Gap insurance, again, cheaper with outside companies. And now the most disappointing thing to me and what even prompted this review....the service department. Supposably there is a 30 day warranty on the car. So in our case, the AC doesn't cool as fast it a normal car does and the weather seal fell off by the roof rack. It's a car with 8k miles on it. Everything should pretty much work, right? We get a call from someone in service - "AC takes a while but it does cool down eventually so it meets our guidelines". "And the weather stripping isn't really necessary and it's really expensive to repair so we aren't going to do anything about that either. We don't worry about weather stripping" Hmmm...I thought they had a full 30 day guarantee. I guess it only covers what they deem as important. Took this car to the dealership today and guess what - they saw both problems and agreed to fix both problems at no cost to us. They deemed it important. Thank you Chris at Infinity for taking care of business. Next time I'll just buy directly from your dealership and avoid the hassles of the stereotypical used car dealership. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Carmax! Came here 3 weeks ago in search for a new to me car. Luiz met us at the front door and explained how the lot was set up, and let us walk around by ourselves to browse. He advised he will be back in a few minutes to check if there were any cars we wanted to either sit in or go on a test drive. No pressure/No hassles to buy anything! After viewing a few, we came across a BMW that i just fell in love with (Red Leather) Took it out on a test drive and we both knew this was the one! We went inside to began the process, and was out the door in about an hour. I have to say this was the easiest & most pleasant car buying experience i have ever had! About a week later, i had my old car towed to Carmax, and the buying process was just as easy! We did go on a busy Saturday, so had to wait a bit longer in line.. None the less, completely hassle free and they offered me fair value for my car with transmission issues. Shortly after, i started to notice some irregularities with the paint on my BMW. Specifically, the car was repainted but the white color on the passenger side doors were slightly different. I did not notice this when purchasing, i blame the red leather again! I brought it into the Carmax service department, and they offered to have the car repainted and color matched at no cost to me! They even gave me a loaner vehicle which i did not know was available! Shutout to Rick in the service department- he has excellent customer service skills! Kept me updated on the status of my car, and kept me happy! All in all, my experience with Carmax in Escondido was nothing short of amazing. I will recommended this location to anyone in search of a vehicle! Thank you again! read more

This 5 Star review goes to Jack and Candi, we walked into Carmax as return customers and with little intentions to actually drive off with a car that day. We wanted to see what Carmax would offer for our vehicle and they came through. We also found a great car that had everything we wanted. Jack was very patient and helped us with all our questions and trust me we had a ton. We felt taken care of all the way through to the "Checkout" process... Paperwork where we met Candi. She is great, she was quick yet thorough which you know is very important. She shared great stories with us and didn't skip a beat on her paperwork. A true professional that know what she is going. If you find yourself in a place where you are not sure where to go head to Carmax in Escondido and ask for Jack. - Happy Car Owner read more

This Danny guy is efficient, fast, friendly and Uber knowledgeable. We were in a time crunch, I thought he couldn't get us out in 1.5 hours. He set a timer to prove show and was able to beat it, getting paper work done all in 45 min. I even tried stalling him... Did I mention he even got the car washed before time was up!!! Impossibly great service. Highly highly recommend Danny. read more

-My fiancé made an appointment online to get his car appraised. A few minutes later he received a phone call about the appointment. We arrived right on time for the appointment and we were seen right away by a sales person. We were looking to sell his car ASAP and buy a new one at a different dealership. -The store was busy as it was going to take about 40 minutes to get our car appraised, not big deal. Not even 30 minutes went by we got called back by our sales person stating it was done and showed us the value for the car. We accepted as it was a reasonable amount. -We were in and out in about an hour with a check on our hands. The whole process was painless and everyone was very nice and helpful. We were happy with our decision about leaving his car there. read more

Rick at the service department was very professional and helpful. There was a mistake in what service I scheduled and instead of rescheduling they did the service with my oil change (like I originally scheduled) he kept me informed as to what they were doing and how the labor would be less then quoted. Can't speak to the car BUYING experience here but the car SELLING experience here is amazing. Completely seamless inspection (took about 10 minutes to inspect the engine, interior, and exterior condition while my car was on), easy appraisal & offer process, AND they took care of all the paperwork right there while they were giving my car a test drive to make sure it was mechanically functional. Was very happy with all sales people including David (sales) and Marita (processing). 100% would sell a used car here again. Thank you for the service with a smile. read more

Had a great experience here selling my 2008 Honda Civic. CarMax purchased it for above the Kelly Blue Book value and I was really pleased, plus it was $1,500 more than the used Honda dealership was willing to pay me for it! The whole process took around 2 hours from start to finish, but they kept us apprised the whole time of approximately how long each step would take. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and the whole place seemed bustling and really organized - thanks CarMax! read more

CarMax is a one-stop shop if you're looking for a good price for a used car that's been fully vetted by professionals. Long story short, my Prius of 11 years ended up needing a new hybrid battery (surprise!), which costs roughly $3000. I had to make the bittersweet decision of putting in the money to keep my beloved car or to get a new car. I chose the latter (for other reasons as well). I want to say the guy who helped us was named Max. He was such a gem! While my car was getting appraised, he walked us out on the lot and actually listened to what I wanted. Honestly, getting a new car wasn't on my mind until a day ago so I had no clue what I was looking for. I also have the hardest time finding cars I'm comfortable driving. There were several options on the lot (a huge reason I love going to CarMax is because of their selection and the fact that they can transfer cars from other locations). CarMax gave me a beyond fair deal on my Prius. After learning what I wold get for it, I went back out on the lot and decided to test drive a car that Max said would probably be a good fit for me. He was so right. Everything from the moment we stepped foot through the door, looking at cars, the appraisal of my car, test drive, finding out more information about the car I was interested in, looking at all of my options from other CarMax locations, and going through financing within a short period of time, was just SO EASY. I never felt rushed to make a decision. I never felt pushed. Thank you! read more

I want to thank Carmax in Escondido Ca for helping me on the 29th of January 2022. First time visiting this Carmax service location, and was so fortunate to have Rick Stokes as my customer advisor last week and today. Rick is one in a million when it comes to top notch customer service, client relations, and car expertise; and because of him, I would highly recommend this Carmax location to others. When I first visited this location last week, Rick made me feel welcomed, kept me informed each step of the process and explained what they were doing to proactively check to see why my rear view mirror sensor wasn't working properly, explained the next steps, and even walked me to my vehicle on my way out. // Then when the replacement part came in today, Rick called and texted me and fit me into their schedule. He told me they double-checked other similar vehicles to see my mirror should be functioning properly, kept checking to make sure I was comfortable waiting and letting me know how things were going, and then gave me a receipt packet before he walked me back to my vehicle. I can't believe how quickly my rear view mirror was replaced (less than 1 week), and believe Rick's leadership and attention to detail made this possible. I hope they continue to hire folks like him. :-) read more

Went here yesterday to have my car appraised for sale. They were quick with the inspection of the car and came back to me with an offer in under 15 minutes. This place is horrible. You make an appointment and they don't have anyone available. The buying process took 5 hours and that was with me making obvious suggestions about how they could speed up the process (i.e. have the old car appraised while we are working on the paperwork for the new one). The salesperson, Robert, lied through his teeth and it was clear he was just trying to upset along the way. There were a few things that needed to be fixed on the new car and they said they would easily take care of it. Nobody ever called. We had to call them numerous times before anyone responded.
