Went here for NYE and made a reservation. The ambience and interior design of the restaurant is the main selling point. The margaritas are premade but were pretty delicious. The cauliflower had a solid portion for the price but was a little thick on the batter. The potatoes and broccolini that came with the steak were great but I wasn't overly impressed by the steak itself. Splitting it was perfect portion at least. It's at the bottom of the Sheraton hotel and across from Herberger Theater area so it's actually a quite convenient location to be! Then Piestewa cocktail that I ordered had proceeds that helped kids or similar so of course I ordered it! It was flowery and not too sweet. I loved my pan seared mountain trout on top of a bed of cilantro citrus rice. It was really good! I recommend ordering it especially if you wanted something on the lighter fare but still flavorful and still filling without being dense. My hubby had the burger and enjoyed it too. We came here on a Sunday night and got seated right away. The menu has plenty of dairy free and gluten free options which are clearly labeled. What an incredible experience! We went here format night and were given a great table right under this beautiful tree! And like any magical garden there are magical people. From start to finish Gracie was amazing and took what felt like special one of a kind care of us and let us ask her so many questions while she curated our evening of foods. The starter salad was so large that it could absolutely be a meal but when paced out it's perfectly timed. I had the Cirtus Chicken with roasted carrots and my husband had the short ribs with the most excellent sauce. We ended the meal with a key lime pie and a trio of sorbet - so wonderful! When the server finally came up to us (after over 10 minutes) all she said was "what do you want?" We didn't even know she was our server. My cocktail (the kingman) was the only thing I wouldn't order again. It was incredibly bland compared to my husband's spicy margarita, so we ordered another one of those to share. Met some friends here for dinner last night. The vibe is super cool is modern and fun. The interior tree added an extra cool ambience to the interior. We happen to be seated under an air-conditioning vent and it was quite chilly inside. Our server Gracie must've had an off night. She wasn't very attentive and had an attitude. It seems to be a common theme in other reviews as well. Our friends were late but the place was dead so I don't think that was the issue. But you never know. This is more a me issue. lol the hours do not fit well in my schedule and when they are open they do not have a full menu for the times I can eat here. I work nearby off hours. Service was solid. She was super nice, and friendly, I don't remember her name though. We had the bread. I'm a sucker for carbs. Yasss. It was a nice warm crusty loaf, and there was a citrus compound butter and some pink sea salt. I feel like bread is always the best intro to a meal unless it's Asian food. If you have more than 2 bread lovers though, you might want to get more bread. We ate the whole thing between the 2 of us. So much bread, but definitely worth it. We both ordered the scallops. 10/10 would eat again. The scallops were perfectly cooked. They were just a touch salty, I think it was because of the sauce with the pancetta. The pancetta was a "chipotle honey" but mostly tasted like a crispy pancetta, there wasn't a super sweet honey flavor, and the chipotle was a background player. The sauce was a smoked tomato beurre blanc. It was a good sauce, the smoked tomato flavor was very muted, so it didn't taste like tomatoes with scallops. I could take or leave the pine nuts. I don't feel like it made a difference. This was paired with squash. It was done in ribbons like pasta, but it was a perfect summer dish. Literally ate the whole thing without feeling like regret. We didn't order drinks, but on a weekend I'd be down to try a drink there. Good vibes, good food. It was very low key and very chill. Great date night location. Parking is right below, so we didn't have to walk around in the heat, just took an elevator up. My wine was an oaky blend, which I prefer. The bartender was able to explain the notes of the wine prior to serving. The food: The guac with chips: The jicama & relished red onion really added to the yummy guac. I would order again. Having said that, we really disliked the accompanying salsa. It was almost like a spaghetti sauce. Not a fan. We also had the Al Pastor Meatballs, and both can't wait to eat these again. These lil guys are packed with an array of flavors that can't be beat! The trout was pink and had the texture of salmon so we were unsure if it was actually trout. We were expecting a white fish. Later I looked it up and apparently some trout has that pink color and appearance. The best dish was definitely the ribeye with orange glaze, asparagus and sweet potato mash. We visited Carcara for the first time ever yesterday, Friday, June 2nd, which happened to be during "1st Friday," and a comi-con type event happening downtown. We had a reservation for 6:30, arrived at 6:30 and were immediately sat. We were in and out in an hour however, it could have been more like 40mins if the service was a bit faster. Most of the time was spent waiting for the waitress to take our dinner order, return to see if we decided on dessert, and return with our check. So, I'd give service a 2 star, the place wasn't crowded and they had plenty (it seemed) of staff. I ordered the Angus Burger and was not disappointed. It was thick burger, and the frites were hot and crispy on the outside while being soft on the inside. The toppings on the burger made for a delicious bite, and it was cooked medium, just like I asked. We also had the loaded guacamole (forgot to snap a pic) that was good as well. Take note, though, i has sunflower seeds in it (that was a first for me). For a party of 2, with the appetizer, we spent $70 for 2 burgers, guac, and just water to drink. If asked, would I return? Maybe more so for the ambiance than the food. It's right on the corner of 3rd St and Van Buren, and they have a huge outdoor patio, great for people watching. read more
