I was lucky enough to grab a table via Resy and was able to finally try Carbone! The interior is dimly lit and elegant which is perfect for a nice night out or a date spot. The staff are all very welcoming and were careful to explain the menu along with recommendations. For food, we had the octopus as an appetizer and for entrees, we split the spicy rigatoni and the clams vongole. The clams vongole was my favorite dish as it came with some spicy breadcrumbs and had an amazing creamy, garlicky, and lemony flavor to it. The spicy rigatoni was also good along with the potatoes which I highly recommend. The potatoes were super crispy and had a ton of flavor from the duck fat. For dessert, they gave us a few rainbow cookies which were excellent and we also added a slice of Black Forest cake. The Black Forest cake had a great cherry flavor with the rich chocolate cake. Overall a really good Italian spot and I'll definitely come back to try the other dishes!

Carbone is famous for a reason, and I can see why it has earned such a loyal following. We started with the Caesar alla ZZ (caesar salad), which is prepared tableside and was absolutely amazing. It had the perfect balance of creamy and cheesy flavors and was one of the best Caesar salads I've had. I also appreciated the complimentary bread with salami and fresh mozzarella that was served at the beginning of the meal, along with a couple of cookies at the end, which was a nice touch. For my main course, I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, and it completely lived up to the hype. The flavor was outstanding, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and it's easy to understand why it's one of their signature dishes. We also ordered the Fettuccine con Funghi, which wasn't my personal favorite but was still thoughtfully prepared and offered something a little different. The service was amazing from start to finish, with a staff that was both friendly and highly professional. Combined with the restaurant's iconic decor and atmosphere, it made for a memorable experience. It's definitely on the pricier side, but for a special occasion or a nice lunch, I'd say it's worth it. The only real downside is that reservations can be tough to secure, and you'll want to book exactly when they become available about 30 days in advance.

Carbone is one of those classic NYC restaurants that everyone says you have to try, and I'm happy to say it completely lived up to the hype. Getting a reservation is definitely part of the challenge. The earlier dinner times get booked up very quickly, so be prepared for a later reservation unless you plan well in advance. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Our table was attended to throughout the meal, and every member of the staff helped make the experience feel special. All seven of us had a wonderful time and shared several dishes, including the meatballs, spicy rigatoni, tortellini, and ribeye. Everything was excellent and made it easy to understand why the restaurant has earned such a strong reputation. To start, I especially enjoyed the bread, cauliflower, and salami. The rainbow cookies at the end were the perfect finishing touch to an already memorable meal. The atmosphere felt lively, classic, and uniquely New York. Between the food, service, and overall experience, I can confidently say this restaurant lived up to its reputation. I would absolutely love to come back!

Date: Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 Time: 10:30pm Party of: 4 Meal: Dinner Reservation Made Thru: Resy a month prior Deposit Required: $200 + $17.76 tax = $217.76 *Coca Cola ($6) x3 *Negroni ($24) *GL Jeio Prosecco ($16) *Caesar ZZ ($34) *1/2 Spicy Rigatoni ($17) x4 *Lobster Ravioli ($56) *Meatballs ($27) *Single Espresso ($7) *Mint Tea ($7) x2 *Double Espresso ($7) *Tiramisu ($25) *Tax ($26.27) My girlfriend has been wanting to go the this location for quite some time. When I remembered prior to this year's NYC trip, I set an alarm to make a rezzie right when they opened up. It actually wasn't as hard as other spots, so you stand a chance if you get onto Resy when they release time slots. It just won't be at a normal dinner time. Pasta, pasta, pasta. That is the name of the game here. And which pasta? The spicy rigatoni of course! Not my favorite shape of pasta, but the sauce is delicious - creamy and tomatoey with a hint of spice. I honestly could have had it spicier, which is why I added peppers. The meatballs seemed to be a hit as well. I was pescatarian at the time so didn't try. I wish I knew the lobster ravioli was in a squid ink pasta. I'm not a fan of the earthiness of squid ink, but it wasn't too strong here. Their menus really have no descriptions so there was no way to know. When you sit down, they give you a huge basket of breads and other lil snacks. Very generous and could be a meal in itself. For the salad, if you love anchovies, def tell them. They will give you more with the salad. The resto is actually on the smaller side which I think is why it's so hard to get a rez. Our server was sweet and very knowledgeable. I noted we were celebrating a friend's bday and they gave us a candle with the dessert we ordered. In the end the entire $217.76 from my deposit was credited to our bill. Glad we finally were able to eat here. Would come back again to try those meatballs. Hopefully I can get a rez at time closer to dinner? I guess I can always try their sister spot. We'll see next year! REVIEW #4010

A dining experience perfect from start to finish! The staff were wonderful. We had a delicious garlic bread and fresh mozzarella to start followed by the beef carpaccio, their famous pasta and the most delicious tiramisu I've ever had to top it all off. The espresso martini had the freshest espresso shot and was so creamy and smooth. Pleased to say this place absolutely lives up to the hype!

Service - Top tier. Pulled my chair out for me, folded my napkin. Great recommendations. Great service. Ambiance - Intimate, exclusive, moody and cozy. Food - Phenomenal. One of the best meals I've had in NYC!

One star, and that's entirely because of the manager, Zach. We went to Carbone for lunch, and from the moment we walked in, the experience was unnecessarily unpleasant. We gave Zach our reservation name multiple times, and each time he insisted we weren't on the reservation list. Only after I pulled up my Resy confirmation on Resy and showed it to him did he finally seat us. I asked if there had been an issue with the reservation system, and he casually replied, "Oh no, you were always there." If that was the case, why repeatedly tell us we didn't have a reservation? It was a frustrating and unnecessary way to start the meal. To top it off, he was wearing sunglasses inside the restaurant the entire time. It felt like he was more interested in putting on an attitude than making guests feel welcome. That was the first red flag. Our server was perfectly pleasant, and the food was good, but honestly, it's nowhere near worth the hype. There are plenty of better Italian restaurants in the West Village, like Rosemary's and Da Andrea, where the food is just as good, the atmosphere is more relaxed, and you're treated like a valued guest instead of an inconvenience. The most bizarre part happened during lunch. My husband briefly looked at his phone when Zach came over and told him he couldn't be on it. The strange part was that there were multiple other people in the restaurant using their phones, so we had no idea why we were singled out. Instead of simply walking away after making the comment, Zach stood directly behind my husband and stared at him for several minutes. It was so obvious that nearby tables noticed and started looking over. I've never experienced anything like it in a restaurant. It felt intimidating, unnecessary, and completely UNPROFESSIONAL. Hospitality starts with management, and Zach made us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived until we left. A restaurant can have all the hype in the world, but if the person running the front of the house treats paying customers this way, it's simply not worth it. Carbone may be a hard reservation to get in New York, but after this experience, I genuinely don't understand the obsession. The dining room was filled with tourists chasing the name, while there are countless better restaurants nearby with excellent food, far better service, and none of the ego. If you want great Italian food in the West Village, skip Carbone and go to Rosemary's or Da Andrea instead. You'll likely eat just as well and, more importantly, you'll be treated with the kind of hospitality that keeps people coming back. I was enthusiastic about celebrating my birthday here. I monitored very closely, and 39 days, prior to my birthday, I booked on Resy. I was running late on my birthday, which they surprisingly accommodated. Not only that, they allowed for an incomplete party to be seated, which most places don't.. However, I suspect because you pay a deposit beforehand, they don't mind and have already been compensated, somewhat. Onto the food, apparently you're only allowed to order once, so my order was placed, in absentia. I knew what I wanted so it was simple. I had the minestrone soup and spicy rigatoni. I helped myself to a little bit of the Caesar salad and the potatoes Louie, which was supposed to be for me, but I did not like. I was underwhelmed with almost everything. I know, I know... maybe I had my expectations too high, but nothing really did it for me. The rigatoni was good, along with the garlic bread, but no higher than that. The salad wasn't that great nor the potatoes. I did enjoy my birthday cake and the service was impeccable, but the pod part, which is the most vital, lt me down. I appreciate the experience and did enjoy my birthday; however, wish I would have enjoyed the food a little more.

Finally made it to Carbone and honestly... it mostly lived up to the hype. The whole experience feels like stepping into old-school New York Italian glamour. The spicy rigatoni vodka absolutely deserves the attention it gets. Rich, spicy, comforting, and easily the standout of the night for me. We also ordered the meatballs, oysters, and seafood crudo, and everything was beautifully presented and well executed. That said... it's definitely overpriced. You're paying a premium for the name, exclusivity, and atmosphere as much as the food itself. Getting a reservation feels like a competitive sport at this point too. But overall, I still get why people love it. It's one of those places that feels quintessentially New York, and I'd probably go back just for the spicy rigatoni and people watching alone.

Took years to get a reservation but so happy I finally get to cross this off my NYC list!! Carbone was definitely an experience and a spot to try at least once. Everything was delicious however there are many Italian places that are just as good and are much cheaper. The wait staff was great and really contribute to what makes this such a great experience. To start, they provided complimentary bread, meat and cheese. The focaccia was so delicious, we even got more for later in the meal to dip into the sauces. We ordered tons of food and were stuffed at the end but enjoyed it all! We started with the Caesar salad which they make tableside. We also got the clams and calamari. We loved all of the above but my friends were obsessed with the calamari while my preference was clams! Caesar salad was very good, including the croutons, but very overpriced. Obviously we got the spicy rigatoni which was good and surprisingly had a kick. I know it has spicy in the name but usually things like that aren't spicy. They offered to split up the portions individually which made sharing easier. We also got the lobster ravioli which I could've passed on. Meatballs are highly recommended although not explicitly listed on the menu. It typically comes with 3 meatballs but they offered to give 4, one for each member of the party. Veal parm was delicious but waaaaay overpriced. I did appreciate that the waiter cut it up into pieces for each of us. We also got potatoes but were not impressed - we were also very full at that point. For dessert, they provide complimentary rainbow cookies but we also ordered the cheesecake and tiramisu. Both were very tasty! My only complaint was that the music was very loud and it was hard to hear. We were seated right under a speaker and I asked the waiter if we could turn it down but I don't think he did. All in all, I'm glad I finally got in to see what the hype was about!

Unforgettable family dinner at Carbone! Living up to every bit of the hype. We had an absolutely amazing night and went with all the classics: the spicy rigatoni, veal parm, and Caesar salad were all spectacular. Fabulous atmosphere and an iconic NYC dining experience that my family and I loved from start to finish.

"You know how it goes when you can't get a reservation at Carbone..." It had been years since my last visit, and after coming back, I remembered exactly why it's so hard to get a table. The ambiance is everything you want for a date night: lively, elegant, and classic New York without feeling over the top. The spicy rigatoni was just as incredible as I remembered, the meatballs were unbelievably tender, and the pork chop was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. A spritz was the perfect way to tie it all together. The service was attentive from start to finish without ever feeling intrusive. Carbone still lives up to the hype, and it's absolutely worth the wait.

As someone who loves Italian cuisine, we had this spot on our list for a while. We had a weekend lunch reservation and were seated at our table on entry. Service from the team at our table was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a variety of plates including some of their classics and everything was delicious. I love pasta so the vodka sauce and ragu were my favorite. Intimate and beautiful spot great for dates but good for groups as well. Definitely recommended!

Do they have a corking fee?

    Yes

Has anyone ever been here for lunch? I notice the menu is different. Thanks!

Yes! The menu is slightly different, but the best difference in my opinion is the complimentary mozzarella!

    Is Carbone child friendly?

Not really and it's a small space

    What year did Carbone open?

    March 2013

It says lunch ends at 2 but I have a res at 2, do they actually close at 2 like it says or will they still seat us?

I had reservations for 2pm and was confused as well! Don't worry, they will still seat you and I believe the kitchen just stops taking orders around 2:20pm.

I have a reservation for 11:30 pm which is when their business hours say they close. Will I still be served?

    You will not be served.

What day of the month does carbone open reservations?

Today is 8/26/25 and the next reservation on Resy is 9/25/25, so I believe 30 days in advance, but I typically call restaurants directly to be sure.

Do they seat people at the actual bar here? Like first come first served? (Dallas restaurant does)

They don't. Its very tiny and they don't have bar space for that.

Can I buy their pasta sauce in person at the restaurant?

No, they don't sell it their

    Do they have gf pasta?

Yes they do I had it two months ago

Reservations.. I am trying to find a reservation for weeks in advance and it says nothing is…

yes it's really booked- it's impossible to get reservations!! but they go live at 10am a month in advance. so tomorrow at 10am you'd be booking for August 7th. but have fast fingers ready because they go QUICK ( it's like winning a contest lol)

Are dogs allowed inside or on the patio?

    not allowed inside

Do you still need an Amex to sit on the patio?

    Nope

Is there a parking garage nearby?

Thompson Street Parking and SP+ should be the closest garages

Do you get complimentary cheese and rainbow cookies with lunch?

The cheese comes with the bread. You get a complimentary rainbow cookie.

    Is proof of vaccine required?

    Yes

Is there an option for takeout?

    No, they do not

I have a reservation for 7, but 2 people ended up cancelling. Will they seat the party of 5, or do I need to have exact numbers? (i can't call ahead, none of the numbers are working, i've emailed them)

Yes but I would call ahead and let them know

I can't get a reservation to save my life! Do they accept walk ins? I am trying to dine at 11:30am for lunch.

The best bet is to have Resy up at 9AM and keep hitting refresh every 15 minutes or so. I was able to snag a reservation the day of that way.

Trying to make a reservation on Resy, it seems that they have two locations now and I wouldn't know where I'm making the reservation at?

Make your reservation ASAP and once confirmed you can email info@carbonenewyork.com to confirm the location of your reservation. Resy should send you your confirmation with the address and restaurant info. I dined at both locations indoor recently…

The menu has plenty of variety across pastas, seafood, and cocktails, with some unique dishes that made the experience memorable. The drinks were a highlight, and the seafood options stood out the most for me. My Tipsy Tayke: The Fragola Fizz was juicy, fruity, and refreshing. The Forever Summer was another standout, with the smokiness of the mezcal blending really well with the fruit flavors without overpowering them. Both are easy recommendations depending on whether you want something fruity or a little more complex. My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Seafood Ravioli Unique, flavorful, and packed with different seafood flavors. The ravioli itself was delicate and had a tendency to fall apart, but the flavor made up for it. Standout: Calamari Crispy, seasoned, and enjoyable. It had a slightly chewy texture, but I still found myself going back for more. The Carpaccio wasn't necessarily for me texture-wise, but I really enjoyed the greens and dressing that accompanied it. The garnish felt intentional and helped bring the dish together. The Pappardelle came with plenty of sauce but could have used more flavor overall. The complimentary bread was also tougher and chewier than I prefer. Desserts: The Lemon Sorbet was easily my favorite dessert. Bright, refreshing, and packed with real lemon flavor. The Mango Sorbet was another refreshing option with a smooth tropical sweetness. The Panna Cotta Cheesecake leaned closer to a mousse in texture and was definitely on the sweeter side. I especially enjoyed it with the cherry, which helped balance everything out. Service: Warm and attentive throughout the meal, fitting the inviting atmosphere. Plates From My Visit: Calamari Carpaccio Seafood Ravioli Pappardelle Lemon Sorbet Mango Sorbet Panna Cotta Cheesecake Fragola Fizz Forever Summer In Conclusion: A warm Chelsea Italian spot with strong cocktails, unique seafood dishes, and refreshing desserts. When we entered the restaurant and took the elevator up to the restaurant, we were delighted to find free wine provided for us to pour in the elevator. Admittedly, it was red wine, so not my favorite, and it did taste cheap, but still appreciated. To start off, we ordered the onion torta, focaccia, and smashed potatoes. The onion torta was surprisingly good and tasted like a form of french onion soup. As a focaccia enthusiast, the focaccia was fluffy and delicious. We also got the charred beans, carrots, ravioli, tagliatelle, ravioli, and trout to share. The charred beans were surprisingly the long beans and not the smaller ones we expected. However, they were very juicy and better than we thought they would be. The rigatoni resembled cacio e pepe with its pepperiness, the tagliatelle tasted like standard red sauce, but i did enjoy the ravioli and the ricotta inside. For dessert, we had the basque cheesecake which was alright, but I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake. Overall, we had a great time at Ci Siamo and I would definitely recommend ordering the focaccia and onion torta and we could have skipped the carrots, beans, trout, and tagliatelle.

Reviews were promising so I was excited to try the food. I ordered the fusilli pesto pasta with a side of the garlic broccoli rabe. My pasta dish came with a small burrata on top. Instinctively I took a piece of that in to my mouth first and was met with the most rancid tasting cheese ever. The cheese was definitely not fresh and had a terrible smell on the outside. I moved this to the side to try the pasta which was honestly forgettable. There simply was not enough basil pesto in the dish, the sauce fell flat on taste and seasoning was nearly absent. The side of broccoli rabe was also so bad and forgettable. The stems were tough to chew, there was no salt and not a single speck of garlic in this dish. This is one of the priciest, grossest plates of pasta and vegetables I have ever had in the city. My friend ordered the eggs Florentine and said it was A-okay. Service was good and food came out on time but honestly I would not dine here again. They really need to step up their food quality if they want to continue doing business in the city.

The food though...was alright, Their fresh made bread with olive oil was delicious and a nice starter. The calamari was lackluster and lowkey tasted frozen vs home made. The meatballs for $18 was insane because the meatballs were literally bite sized! When it came out we were actually shocked. The pastas were tasty and flavorful though! We do wish it came with protein for the price, but it was still solid.

Are you going to the Joyce for a wonderful evening of dance ?…read more Do you prefer a location close by ? Is inexpensive Italian food a preferred choice ? If you answered "yes" to all three, then Fumo is a place to seriously consider. The restaurant is bright and comfortable. The service is fast and attentive. The menu has lots of excellent choices. The portions are generous. The prices are very reasonable. There you go ! Fumo is for you, (at least the Chelsea location) is for you. Any drawbacks ? youi ask.....well, yes, there is one, and it should be cosnidered. The restaurant is so so so popular that the noise level can be a bit ..... shall we say "daunting." Fumo is a great place but if you want a soft, quiet place to have a serious conversation, maybe save it for another time....

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

It's obvious they use quality ingredients and the kitchen is technically very sound. The pasta in particular was cooked perfectly. Everything we had was good and well executed, but nothing really jumped out at me or felt especially memorable. There are several places around the city that I feel can deliver a similar meal and experience without quite as much hype. That's not to say I didn't enjoy L'Artusi, because I absolutely did. It just didn't separate itself from some of the other really good Italian restaurants I've visited. Service was great, the atmosphere was nice, and overall we had a very enjoyable dinner. Just one where my expectations may have been a little higher than the experience delivered.
