The most AMAZING espresso martini I've had. Just look at that thing.
Natalie A.

I always passed this restaurant and would always see a HUGE crowd outside, dining. Yesterday I popped in, but just for cocktails. The inside of the restaurant was a bit underwhelming. We sat at the bar which was really small. The bar stools seemed to weigh a million pounds so brace yourself before you scooch it over a bit. Service was great! 2 gentleman helped with the preparation and serving of the cocktails and the other with checking out. The drinks were made swiftly and with love! The dirty martini was definitely on the strong side with alcohol. I was a bit surprised to see the size of the glass it was served in though. For the espresso martini, this glass had to have been the BEST espresso martini I have consumed. It honestly felt like I was drinking a glass of chilled espresso (the martini part definitely still snuck up on me though). At first, it's served to you with a latte-like color but eventually, the espresso settles down and the foam rises and sits like a pillow at the top. I found these cocktails to be extremely overpriced ($27 ea) but hey, we pay for experience and to see what all the hype is about, right? Listen, if you're an espresso martini connoisseur, then you might have to just pull the trigger and go!

Steak Tartare "alla Cipriani"

I came to Cipriani already knowing the prices are sky high and I came out tipsy (In a good way) and not remembering much about food but mostly enjoyed my time. Basically the experience is what you get here. I think lots of people are dressed very nice and there's multiple generations of people from young to old. I think the service here is very nice although they don't really serve water much hence probably why I am tipsy- so one of my friends kept having to ask them for water. The drinks are teeny tiny but cost a fortune but I do like how they taste. They are so small but they pack a punch. As for food this place is quite wild. The tuna tartare for $38 we ordered looked like a piece of meat but it looks fresh but I think you're supposed to put it on the white bread with no crust which is fine. I think the tuna was fresh but there's no flavor but I would pay for a block of good quality tuna for $30 in a grocery store as well. Quite confused but albeit everything was fine. The tomato salad was just tomatoes. The pasta we got, on the other hand was better but I don't actually remember it even though it was just last night that I went. It was the spaghetti with lobster and prawn at a whopping $48 I feel like it doesn't have much of flavor. The best thing though is the chicken spezzatino al curry which costed around $47. I think we shared these with three people so I just had a bite but I remember this being very good. We ended off with the famous vanilla meringue cake which was very airy and fluffy and I would eat my own even though it was quite large it melts in your mouth. It was gone in a second. Overall I think I really just enjoyed eating here with friends and the vibes were very nice. Very old school but classy. I think most of the stuff here is from Harry's Bar in Venice and coming from Venice I would say definitely the food out there is probably way better but I can whole heartedly say come here for some drinks and some cake! The prices are definitely sky high for some mid food but I decided to leave that off my review.

I was really disappointed with Cipriani after so many people recommended it to me. The food was extremely bland and tasteless, and we had to ask for extra sauce plus load everything with salt and pepper just to make it edible. The wait staff was polite, but service was sometimes slow and overall nothing memorable. The space itself is cozy enough, but we were seated right by the door so it kept getting cold. For the price and reputation, the experience just wasn't worth it. I did like the Christmas chandelier though!

I had an amazing business lunch at Cipriani over the weekend. The location was a lot less touristy than the one near Central Park. Although the restaurant was smaller, it felt cozier with a European feel. We had the burata and avocado fennel salad (amazing). I had the dry aged steak and it was one of the best I've had. For dessert we shared the famous vanilla merengue cake and the fruit tart. So good!

We stopped in after we shopped till we dropped for some nourishment. We were lucky n got a seat by the bar. This place always busy and can be bit snobbish. But I love it. Live the decor the giant chandelier. Our bartender Jorge was amazing, friendly n attentive. We had 2 glasses of Prosecco n cucumber salad is great n refreshing. The bread n bread uses served warm is a nice touch.

Grilled Salmon and spicy rigatoni
Joanna G.

Amazing experience, amazing food, highly recommend. The salmon was simple yet perfect, same with the asparagus and the rigatoni off the menu was delicious - more al dente than I typically like pasta but with this one it not only worked - it was perfection. And too - we may have dined alongside a Bravo- lebrity.

Came here for dessert so can't speak to the quality of the other food but it was way overpriced! My friend and I got two desserts and it somehow came out to be like $75, (25 for each cake and then 12 for water then tax and tip). Price aside, the vanilla meringue was extremely delicious. I would highly recommend it. Super fluffy and light and the perfect amount of sweetness. The other one was a cheesecake and we could've passed on it, felt pretty dry. I would go back for the vanilla meringue cake alone but nothing else.

Poached Chilean Sea Bass "alla Carlina"

Super cute spot to dine for lunch outside on a sunny day or inside for a moody dinner vibe. The food lives up to their reputation. The pastas were incredible. The bolognese was soooo good and the tortellini sauce was divine. The sea bass was good too. The desserts, the main standout was the rich dark chocolate cake. The lemon meringue was really delightful too but the vanilla cake is a skip. Service was great. Not too many people at lunch time on a weekday so was nice and calm.

Celebrated a anniversary here and it was absolutely amazing. From the attentive staff, beautiful ambiance, and incredible food we definitely enjoyed every moment. Started off with a glass of red wine , followed by a cucumber, avocado , string bean & corn salad which was so fresh and light . Perfect start to the pasta we were about to order. For my main dish I had the rigatoni and the cipriani spaghetti with sea bass. Let me just say both dishes were incredible, one of the best pastas i've had in new york. The tomato sauce was freshly made and the pasta was perfectly cooked and the flavors just melted together. Wow , just wow! Although we wanted dessert we were so full from our main course we ended it on a happy note and satisfied palettes. Can't wait to come back again with friends and enjoy the same experience! Thank you for making our nite special.

Filet mignon

Was able to get reservations on a Saturday night with no issue. The wait staff was polite and extremely knowledgeable about their menu and its ingredients. For starters, we ordered the calamari and caprese salad. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic. For dinner, i ordered the filet mignon which was prepared perfectly at medium rare. Fantastic restaurant and will definitely be returning.

Worth the high price. Food, service, and ambience incredible. Been here multiple times and never disappoints.

There's a handful of chain restaurants that I will visit, no matter what city am in, When in NYC Cipriani Downtown falls on that list. I love going there for lunch, you don't need reservations and it's not super crowded like dinner time. The hostess, waiters and servers are always so friendly and has a vast knowledge of what is on their menu. Cipriani restaurant and in different states has their own unique decor that describes the city you're in. If you're in Miami, you get glass windows with a view of the bay and palm trees, when you're in NYC you get picture walls, wooden panels and little tchotchkes that screams NY and I love it because it's home. My go to food is the classic chicken salad, which has chunks of chicken in mayo, egg and tomato (it's so good). Grilled octopus, Rucola and cherry tomato salad, Risotto alla primavera, there are some dishes that is meant for 2 so jus st ask questions before ordering and not wasting food. One thing am gonna get when am there is a dessert, their freshly whipped vanilla ice cream, it comes with chocolate, nuts and cookies on the side, their popular meringue cake and the Vanilla Mille-Feuille. My experience has always been a 10/10.

Particularly the penne funghi is to die for. Tried the linguine vongole clam pasta for the first time and was pretty good as well! Just wish there was more sauce and the clams were the tiniest size I've seen which was disappointing and to make matters worse, a good 1/3 of them were empty. Besides that, the meal was delightful and still great value as it was delicious with huge portions! Love! However, service at this particular branch is nowhere near as good as other branches. I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

We started with the housemade focaccia and Wagyu carpaccio--both were outstanding, with the perfect balance of crispy, flavorful, and fresh elements. We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified. We told them the time of our show, food was out quickly, nicely presented, still hot and very tasty. The restaurant was not noisy and had space between the tables.
