They came to my school for teacher appreciation week. The pta paid for the event, so I have no idea about if it was worth the money for reach item, but I would not pay more than $15 for my cheesesteak. It was crabby cheesesteak and there was no crab to be found. Just an old bay sauce on the bottom and it felt very rationed with the steak part. Overall, it was tasty, but did not meet my expectations. read more

Their food truck was outside of Pickett brewery so we decided to get a snack to eat before our next stop. We got the bratwurst and the crab dip. The bratwurst was pretty good! I do not recommend the crab dip, it was very salty and not the best. The cheese wasn't melted on top either. The service was great though, she was very nice and chatty! read more

I love me a good crab cake, so when my best friend suggested Capt'n Crabby, I had to see what they were all about. My first visit was in late 2020 and the left a very good taste in my mouth (figuratively & literally). I got a crab BLT and really enjoyed it, and the sweet message on the box that said: "Thanks for the support" was enough to bring me back in for future visits. On my second visit, I was able to meet Mj the owner and she was very sweet! I can tell she works hard and puts a lot of work into her business. I also tried their Texan crab cake sandwich, and my God! It was one of the best crabcake sandwiches I've ever had. I was trying to eat the crumbs at the bottom of the box it was so good. I also recommend their old bay seasoned fries, and their flavored iced teas and lemonades. During my most recent visit, I was able to try their vegan crabcake sandwich made with artichoke and heart of palms. It was absolutely fabulous and almost tasted like the real thing. I was very impressed. Overall, Capt'n Crabby makes a damn good crabcake and I'm excited to eat my way through their menu. read more

This is our second year using their food truck for our annual employee picnic. This year the Chef Steve and Sous Chef Chuck was excellent. Pretty darn good crab cake from a mobile food truck! I found your food truck at a recent festival that I was attending. I wanted a crab cake with limited to no filter. I asked as I'm originally from Maryland, and crab cakes outside the state usually aren't good and contain too much filler. After assuring me that there was minimal filler in the crab cake, I ordered it and waited about 10 minutes for them to cook it. I did not get it with the crabby sauce. I don't know what is in it, and I am not a big sauce guy anyway!! After about 10 minutes, they called my name, and I picked up a piping hot crab cake on a roll with lettuce, tomato, and onion. I give them an A+ on food, especially from a food truck. Plus, they provided a bag of UTZ crab chips, it couldn't be better. I could have gotten french fries for an additional $2, but I opted for the chips. I highly recommend this food truck, and I learned they have a located in the Baltimore area, in Hampden, which I will check out when visiting family and friends in the Baltimore area. read more

Love this place. best Maryland Crab Cakes in town. Must try be mindful they are closed Monday's and Tuesday abs open at noon -8 pm Wednesday thru Saturday. Open on Sunday for Brunch only from 11-2. I must come back to try their power up bowls and Shepard's pie but how when their signature item is the Maryland Crab Cake .. On to my review. This is my second time at this location. During the pandemic there was a very limited menu and only dine out available. Today I had the luck of dining inside. I am happy to see a more extended menu. The waitress states that it is still limited but I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with all the variety. There is waaay more than just crab cakes here. From grilled chicken sandwiches, power owls and even vegetarian options.. Right off the bat I could see things I would be ordering in the future. Deliciousness everywhere. I can see there was so much thought that went behind creating this menu. Finally I gave in abs ordered the We Be Jammin crab cake sandwich with a side on homemade mac n cheese and house made spicy pickle. Let me start off by saying that the flavor combinations that are intentionally paired with this amazing crab cake are mind blowing. I would never think to add some of these topping to my crab cake. Once you take your first bite you can quickly realize that this crab cake sandwich is an experience. The flavors and textures are all working together cohesively to tantalize all of your tastebuds. After chewing my first bite all I could utter is WOW and some weird moaning sound.. Don't judge me but this crab cake was almost orgasmic. . The mac and cheese is very cheesy and well seasoned. I enjoyed the sprinkle of old bay on top. In addition, I devoted the homemade pickle. Great addition!!! After inhaling my sandwich I was not even able to make a dent into my mac so I took in home. Overall this was a very good meal for under $20. Quality ingredients, paired so nicely with a nice and charming atmosphere. I am nominating this restaurant one of my new faves! Amazing. Made with lots of love. The husband and wife cook their family recipes. This place is amaaaaaaazing.

Finally got the chance to try this after they were featured at a local event in Oceanview. There's not too much to post really. I was really taken back by paying $15, for a crab cake and chips. It didn't even come with a drink. The crab cake was "ok". Being from Baltimore, I should've lowered my expectations on the crab cake. It was ok, for a VA crab cake. I probably wouldn't order from here again. read more

Attended a Yelp Elite Event and they were the food truck choose to take care of us. When we arrived for the event they had some veggies, a tray of some kind of dip with break that I did not try, but crab dip was phenomenal with bread. I met the two ladies who co-own the business. They have recently moved here from Colorado. They were both very personable and made not only me, but they other yelpers comfortable. I did elect to order a crab cake sandwich and it was really terrific. A little on the spicy side, but no big deal. I saw several other yelpers got various other items, so hopefully they review as I did. I'm unsure if I will go out of my way, but I sure will hit them up again if they are in an area that I shop. read more

Now granted I didn't try the full menu, I only tried a few items. This food truck was used to provide samples for a recent party I attended. While the presentation was cute, the food was not good :( I was highly disappointed because I read such great reviews, but to my surprise it wasn't yummy at all. Now granted the rave was over the crabcakes and I did not try the crab cakes - but I wanted too!! But I just couldn't pull myself together to take it a step further to order and disappoint my palate even more. I tried the Eastern Shore Crab Dip (crabmeat, sherry, shallots, old bay in a creamy dip) first by itself. I thought to myself, um this isn't good. So I tried it on celery...not good. And lastly on bread...still not good! I definitely could not taste the crabmeat or the old bay seasoning. IMO it was super creamy. I would have perferred it to be thicker. On to the next... 3B Cakes (shredded butternut squash, curry cakes, topped with beer cheese and candied bacon) Now this dish was a little bit better. But again, something was missing and my palate said ok this is...oh no it's not good! With this dish, the candied bacon helped it a great deal! So fork fulls that did not contain the bacon were just blah. But when my fork contained the candied bacon...oh this was yummy!! I so wanted to love this food truck, but it was just A-Ok! Hope you enjoy it - they are super great people!! Have fun :) read more

This is the 1st food truck that I have had in Denver. They are from Maryland and their menu consists of a lot of seafood. The worker at the truck was friendly and said that the crab cakes were his favorite. I ordered 1 which came in a burger form. A crabby patty! It was served with lettuce, orange sauce, and potato chips seasoned w/ bay seasoning. My burger was complimentary thanks to Yelp's Winter Kickoff Event. I enjoyed how the crab cakes had a large amount of real crab in it rather than the other ingredients (mayo, flour, etc.). Other menu items 1. Crabby dog 2. crab dip 3. pumpkin crab bisque 4. vespa (vegetarian) 5. shrimp salad read more

I'm going to be honest. I lived in B'more for 7 years and I know my crab cakes. This is my second time eating here and I wanted to hate this food. Its more like 3.5 stars for the order I had. Tuesday September 10th 2013. LUNCH thru CIVIC CENTER EATS 2013. Time was about 12:00hrs ish. My order was $14. I just have to wait about less than 5 minutes or so, though I cannot deny there was a line before I made my order. The cost of each item from the Menu that afternoon was between $7 to $14. My order that afternoon was the CrabCake En Fuego Sandwich - MD CrabCake, Horseradish Mayo aka Aioli (Tiger Sauce), "Pickled Hot Peppers" aka Hots, Raw Onions on a Brioche Bun. All orders comes with Old Bay Potato Chips. Yes, it seems a little messy. The Crab Cake can be huge for some. The Crab Cakes are those "shredded kind", in which I was hoping for Lumb Crab Cakes BUT IT WAS NOT. (*A Little Sad Face*) My order comes "lukewarm", though I cannot deny it was cooked to order. While waiting, I can see the staff cooking on the stove in their Tiny Cute Van. All in all I like, the MILD spicyness of the hot peppers, raw onions, and the Brioche Bun is huge. But for the pricing, it could be steep for some coz that is just with the Main Entrée. The Old Bay Potato Chips that comes with it, I so wish its House-Made, but I feel it was NOT. I might be wrong here. Nevertheless, I don't mind getting the other food from Capt'n Crabby if there was a need to. @198/2013 read more

This is for the Taco Flavored Kisses Truck which I heard is owned by Capt Crabby. The tacos are 2 for $8 and I would not recommend them to anyone who loves tacos. Way over priced and the flavor is no where near what it should be. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? Maybe they cater to a different palate? I could not finish the chicken and carne asada tacos because they did not taste good at all. Street tacos double up the tortilla because they are small and full of meat, these were neither. I have not had any other food from Capt'n Crabby so this review is solely on the taco "truck". I will not be trying them again. read more

The food was really good. The pickle almost stole the show! I had the crab cake sandwich Texas style. You would almost think those flavors were too strong for delicate crab meat. Man, if I could give them no stars I would! I didn't feel like paying $15+ for a sandwich so opted for some "gumbo" on this cold winter day. Disappointed would be an understatement. They gave me what tastes like spicy tomato soup with uncooked white rice. They should not call this gumbo. I'm glad It was only $7 for a small container but had I paid more I would of walked back and returned it. The rice was crunchy, and it literally taste like Campbell's Tomato bisque with hot sauce. Very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend. read more

As a Maryland-native, Capt'n Crabby makes me feel right at home. I first tried their shrimp salad sandwich, on a hot summer day from, their food truck. I was delighted at how light it was despite being a mayo-based sandwich. The sandwich was overloaded with the shrimp salad, which is never a problem I'll complain about. Later, I had Capt'n Crabby again at their pop up event at The Boardroom. There, I met MJ and her husband who were both so lovely and friendly. I started my dinner with the crab pretzel, a dish I hadn't had since moving to Virginia. The crab dip was rich and creamy on top of the soft, salted pretzel. For my entree, I couldn't pass up a crab cake sandwich so I had the We Be Jammin'. The combination of the tangy tomato jam, mozzarella and smoky bacon made my taste buds sing. Capt'n Crabby is easily one of my favorite local food trucks. Can't wait to go back for more. read more

Capt'n Crabby's catered our wedding in June 2017. We knew having a food truck at our wedding was the perfect representation of us as a couple. MJ was easy to get in touch with and put me at ease when I had a last minute change as my husband had to do most of the planning since I was living out of state right up to the week before the wedding. We loved having options for our guests as well and MJ was able to accommodate dietary restrictions for gluten free options (to an extent, keep reading for details). I could have easily given them a "5" star rating except for a few pieces that really bummed me out about the whole experience. Quite honestly I could have also easily give them a "2" star rating based off my experience although I feel like it could have been worse and I'm pretty easy going. Although I still have to share how upset I was with a few things and then on top of it all when I emailed to express my concerns and what ultimately bummed me out I got NO RESPONSE AT ALL!!! So MJ had spoke with both my husband and I and she had said she could do gluten free crab cakes (they said they could make them with glutino crackers instead) and that the other options were gluten free and would be able to be served on gluten free buns. We even had a follow-up conversation surrounding how many gluten free crab cakes we were wanting to have on hand. My Dad has celiac's disease and when I told him that gluten-free crab cakes would be available he was so excited! He was pretty bummed out when he went to order and they said the only gluten free option would be the barbecue with out the bun. So they didn't deliver on buns even! Although when my Dad found out that french fries were safe for him and gluten free he said he was so excited it kind of made up for it. Although as something we were told would be available wasn't and knowing multiple guests with gluten intolerances we had promised crab cakes were let down I was pretty sad to hear that Capt'n Crabby's didn't deliver. The other thing that upset me was I went to thank them for serving us and being part of our big day and MJ asked if I could do the final payment. Um.... hello I'm in a wedding dress!? Since my husband and I were paying for the wedding ourselves I had to get my husband to run around to get his credit card so he could pay them, causing him to dart across the room while we were being introduced and about to do toasts. We had paid before online so I figured we could have done the same so it just seemed like an inconvenience on our big day. I felt it was only fair to express our thoughts on their serve up front so I wrote them directly and was upset to get NO RESPONSE AT ALL!! So if I have to rate the actual experience and follow-up I would have to give them a "2 or 3" star rating. read more

Great food truck! My wife and I actually ended up ordering, eating, raving back and forth, and going back for more! Twice! When trying to decide what I liked the best, I really can't. When starting this I was going to say good things about one item and could not choose where to start. What the heck! The crab cakes are served on a bread like a burger... And are great (had two of 'em)! The crab dip.... Exquisite! It was thick and clung to whatever you dipped in there. The only thing I didn't care for was the pumpkin crab bisque... The pumpkin was overpowering, and the crab was more of a minor note. Mind you not bad enough for me to stop eating it, just bad enough for me to not get more of it! Everything is cooked fresh and the proprietor is pretty friendly. Now to find a way to see this food truck more.... read more

IMHO Capt'n Crabby is the best food truck in Denver. It certainly has to be the most unique and authentic, because I do not know any other food truck that is serving Maryland style crabcakes made from jumbo lump crab that are neither greasy nor soggy. These crabcakes are incredible! Additionally, the Capt'n (originally from the East Coast) offers a terrific variety of authentic East Coast flavors to those in the high desert of Colorado. From the Dog in a Bathtub to My Dog's Got Crabs to the Pit Beef and the Vespa, you can't go wrong ordering some of the non-crab menu items. My Dog's Got Crabs, which is only available in the summer is hands down one of the best food items to ever come out of any kitchen, let alone a food truck. They use authentic all beef hot dogs and then put a heaping portion of crab salad dusted with Old Bay and some peppers. It is incredible. From the snap and spice of the dog to the creamy sweet briny goodness of crab this dish is truly delicious. I honestly think that the variety of offerings found at Capt'n Crabby is so unique and so consistently good that he can do for seafood what Roy Choi did with Kogi. Capt'n Crabby loves making people smile with his food and there is love in that food. You can't go wrong getting some of Capt'n Crabby food in your belly! read more

I was so excited to find a place in Norfolk that had crab pretzels. I'm a native of Maryland. And Crab pretzels are available, everywhere! The one I ordered today was very salty. Probably a little too much old bay. Which is okay.. I'm usually heavy handed with old bay also. But it had multiple chunks of large onions on the pretzel. That, I was not a fan of. I don't ever remember having crab dip with large chunks of onions in it. Even the crab pretzel I order from there previously, didn't have onions. I'm pretty disappointed. I'm not sure if they used a contaminated spoon to scoop the crab dip on the pretzel or what, but it wasn't up to par today. read more

I recently moved to Denver from the D.C. area and I have been looking for a decent crab cake sandwich. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to exist in Colorado. Until I stumbled on Capt'n Crabby's food truck while wandering around LoDo. Light and sweet crab, some of which the proprietor's parents ship from Maryland, falling out of the bread as soon as you bite into it. Their crab cake sandwiches are not quite as lumpy as what I'm used to in D.C., but the flavor was incredible, AND they had some Old Bay flown in from the East Coast since Old Bay isn't sold in Denver. The sandwiches are already seasoned very well, but a little Old Bay is a taste I can't resist. I noticed some of the other folks that commented on Capt'n Crabby's mentioned the price. It was only 5 dollars for a slider, and only 12 for a massive sandwich, and it was worth every penny. Capt'n Crabby currently has a monopoly on crab cake sandwiches in Denver. Incredible food, friendly husband-wife owner/operators, inexpensive menu. I will definitely track down Capt'n Crabby's truck and indulge in some real Maryland crab cakes again. read more

Crab cakes for everyone!! Gotta love a good crab cake. They are harder to find than they should be! This place does a different take on the crab cake. Turns them into a sandwich.. Smart! The green tomatoes on the sandwich kind of threw me off when I saw it, when I tasted the combo, it all made sense. The patty itself had really good flavor. It could have been fried just a little bit more to give it that crunch. Their brioche buns are great! So was the old bay aioli. The price tag was a little steep, but it came with chips so that made me feel a little better about the $12 I had just spent for a sandwich. Lots of these food trucks make you order the side a la cart.. it adds up quick! I defiantly couldn't eat here all the time, but next time I see their truck I will definitely stop by! read more
