My friend and I split the crab cake and the crab dip. Both were very flavorful and delicious! The sandwiches come with free chips which is totally awesome, who doesn't like a little extra something free of charge. (Although I would like to mention that the chips were a little over seasoned and therefore just a bit too salty, may have been just been a fluke though). As for the crab dip it easily could be a meal, served in a bread bowl with ritz crackers, celery, and carrots! But it's also the perfect snack if you share it with someone! Lastly, I know some people are weary of sea food in land-locked cities, but seriously people it's just as tastey and fresh as anywhere else, so don't miss out! read more

Capt'n Crabby - Crab Dip!! - Food Trucks Near Me

I was in Denver for work for two weeks back in May and had to try this food truck, being from Maryland and all. I had the Crabby Royale and it was SO good. Certainly in the top 3 of all the crab cakes I have ever had (the others being in Annapolis, MD - crab central!) While not the "traditional" broiled or fried type of crab cake, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the cold crab cake. It was refreshing, with little bits of veggie in it... I know I tasted red bell peppers, and maybe onions? I would absolutely recommend this food truck and the Crabby Royale. I see in other reviews that some people are complaining about the $12 price tag, but I've never seen a decent crab cake for less than $14, closer to $18-$20 depending on how fancy the restaurant is. You get what you pay for! Oh, PS: they have real Old Bay! OLD BAY!!!! They sprinkle it on the chips and it's super yummy :) read more

The seafood salad was very tasty! My favorite was the hotdog topped of with juicy pieces of crab.

This the real deal. The owner is HILARIOUS. He also remembers his customers, so if you return expect him to know your face at least. The food is just super delicious. Seriously. Real crab in a variety of different ways. I love that this is a Denver business and will definitely be returning to support. read more

So I posted a review thought this was the wrong place so i deleted it but it is in fact the correct place! This is for the taco flavored kisses truck! They are supposedly owners of that truck! This truck came to my job I tried 3 tacos for $12. I got shrimp, tuna, & Mexican street corn! The only one I could actually chew was the shrimp. It was edible. The rest I couldnt even swallow. I would definitely never consider these "street tacos" flavor was not there. All around worst taco truck I've EVER been to. I've never had the actual capt'n crabby truck! I wish they would've came instead of the "taco truck" read more

Wow. Total surprise! This is your gourmet chef that is following his dream! We ordered the Korean chicken BBQ and Salmon sandwich. Flavors were amazingly balanced! This definitely a food truck to stalk! Oh.... and the home-made pickles are delicious as well! read more

Had their Jamby (jambalaya) today. You could tell it was precooked and reheated. Rice was mushy and the whole meal wasn't heated throughout. Only so so. My wife had the gumbo and the rice on this dish wasn't even cooked all the way, still crunchy. The gumbo itself had a good flavor. We returned the gumbo dish and the didn't even apologize, they only ask if she wanted something different.. it filled a void in the end, but wasn't impressed at all. read more

Just ordered the salmon sammie and it's AMAZING! The salmon is cooked perfectly with the right amount of spice! They did not skimp on the size of the salmon filet and the bacon was thick cut. No lie this was the best sandwich I've ever had. read more

When I came to this food truck I was very hungry, but let me tell you, I was not crabby when I left! I was very excited to find a food truck that catered so well to a gluten-free diet. I did not expect so many options, but was thrilled at the variety. I went with the Baltimore Pit Beef over a salad and felt as though I was back at Chap's. My friend opted for the "Colorado" crab cake and was delighted, stating that the ratio of crab meat to other ingredients was spot on. All of the ingredients worked in harmony, balancing spicy, sweet, and savory elements. I look forward to checking out the truck again and trying out some of the other options on my next visit to Virginia Beach! read more

A little on the pricey side for lunch ($12 for a crab sandwich with a GENEROUS portion of crab!). But price aside, it was a delicious, juicey, and fresh sandwich. Great bread, great toppings, they even use authentic Old Bay seasoning! read more

I went to one of their pop ups at a brewery in Virginia Beach, where I followed their social media postings. So when I got their , they said would not be ready for an hour. This was already disappointing, as if I knew that , I would have went there an hour later, but their posting on Facebook told a different story , had them there when I showed up. So since I came all the way out there, I waited an hour patiently. So when they saw me looking at the other food truck's menu, they decided to give me their menu hilariously. I found a severely depleted menu from what their reviews talked about. I reluctantly ordered anyway, hoping my time wasn't wasted. Unfortunately, it was, the food had small portions and it was nowhere near the hype people had posted, which makes you wonder who actually wrote these reviews? if you are looking for great tasting seafood with decent sized portions, there are better options in the area that do live up to the buzz, like a Bit Of Maine. read more

I'll say I didn't have the crab cake...that might be good. I was at oozelfinch brewery enjoying awesome beer with great friends. We decided to share the sourdough pretzels with beer cheese dipping sauce...from this food truck... So so bad! The pretzels were hard, from a bag and the beer cheese sauce was cold. This could have been done right and accompany beer well just by having soft pretzels bites and warm cheese sauce. read more

After always seeing this at oozle finch and near by brewarys we stopped after the beach at oozle to give it a try. Sadly dissapointed We ordered 3 sandwiches and a soft pretzel for my son which was hard as a rock. I hate complaining but my son couldn't even bite through it so I went back to let them now and all they did was heated up thinking that it would help and it made it worse My husband had some type of shrimp sandwich he said it was terrible and I had a chicken sandwich which was good but nothing special The vegetarian sandwich with fresh mozzarella and tomato was OK but definitely not worth the price 40$ later for three small sandwhiches and a hard stale pretzel read more

Hardly any crab on my CRABBY fries. Was at a festival so tried these guys because its crab season and they have been on my radar for a while. Go to order and the cheapest crab cake they have is $16 with a bag of crab chips or $2 up charge for fries. So by the end of it, $18 for a sandwich and fries. Pretty steep when I can get the same thing at a sit down restaurant for $12-13. So I settle on the crabby fries- fries, beer cheese topped with crab meat. When I get my order the presentation is lacking. There wasn't much cheese and it looked like it was stirred into the fries not oozed on. Then there sprinkles of crab meat! YES SPRINKLES. Im not asking for a whole crab cake on my fries but give me a little more than a dusting of crab meat. All in all I basically paid $12 for hand cut fries with a cheese glaze and crab meat sprinkles. At least the fries were good. I give them another chance just to try the crab cakes but only if there aren't better options. read more

Capt'n Crabby - Food Trucks Near Me

I found this kick-ass truck at HumpDay Café @ Civic Center park. The crabby slider was soooooo god. Super fresh and sweet jumbo lump crab meat is folded into an easy mayo dressing and fresh bell pepper and veggies, topped with some old bay. It came with chips and I was satisfied. Its a great portion for a great price. The truck looks really cool and everything looked super clean. So stoked for next time... read more

I visited last night and the tuna power bowl, mac and cheese, and carrot cake were all yummy. My husband also really enjoyed his burger.

While the food was delicious, the service was atrociously slow. Took 20 minutes to get a Crab Cake Sandwich and a salad and we were the only two people in the restaurant read more

Crabcake sandwich was really good. Included side mac and cheese was generous portion. Surprisingly fresh and flavorful pickle of all things. Very friendly interaction. Love having this place in the neighborhood. Check it out. read more

Everything on the menu looked very appetizing. I only tried one item and that was their crab cake sandwich. It was very good! It was on a soft potato roll served with tomato and lettuce and topped with old bay aioli. I am a sucker for any kind of sauce, and aioli is no different. They served the sandwich with a bag of old bay chips which were yummy. I absolutely cannot wait to meet up again and try something else. I am really wanting to try shrimp salad. Bravo Capt'n Crabby! read more

They've been to my neighborhood before and from a convenience level it was nice. The crab cake was okay especially they way it was seasoned though average overall. Unfortunately the price was high for the size of the cake and they need to upgrade things like the lays potato chips with the sandwich as if you are going to charge a premium price then all of the complimentary items should be upgraded some. read more

I've been eating at Capt'n Crabby for the past 6 years. And to be honest I don't even like seafood. But these guys offer so much more than that. Beer Cheese Fries- yum, huge! Jamaican Jerk Sandwich with potato salad, so good. And I am a pickle SNOB (I make my own!) their dills are so authentic and fresh. I read people complaining about price, just because it comes off a truck doesn't make the ingredients any cheaper. NO it doesn't come with a drink- does ANY restaurant give any free drinks? I know that the next festival I go to and they're there, they got my vote and my $$$. read more

All I can say is this was amazing! We get food trucks twice a week at work, and this was the first time I had eaten at one. The prices were very reasonable, and the whole truck looked very clean. As far as the food goes -- better crab cakes than I've had in fancy restaurants! I loved the variety offered and would have eaten all of them if my stomach had allowed me too! If you see them parked near you, stop by, and you will not be disappointed! read more

I went to Capt'n Crabbys new brick and mortar location. I was excited because they have she crab soup. The place is nice, food smelled delicious. I ordered soup to go. I got back to my office (5mins from restaurant) and imagine my disappointment to open the cup and find that there was so much oil in it!! I don't know if the oil is fro the cheese but there was so much I could hardly eat my soup. I was disappointed and sadly I will likely not return. read more

Let me preface this by saying I'm an Alaskan native that has spent the past ten years living on the Gulf.... needless to say I know good seafood. I had the pleasure of trying their shrimp sandwich this past weekend at the higher ground music festival, and let me tell you this might be the tastiest thing I have ever had out out of a food truck. Sauce , shrimp , bread everything was spot on! I almost debated getting another one, it was soooo good. This sandwich is right on par with the poboys I get in New Orleans. It also doesn't hurt that the owners are super nice. All around Good, people, awesome food! read more

Not very good at all. The crab cake sandwich was the size of a white castle burger. They also do not serve ketchup for fries...... like they make some ground breaking deep fried potato that doesn't need some love... pshhhhh read more

Drove 20 minutes there and back to experience these wonderful crab sandwiches. Can't rave enough about them. They are absolutely delicious. The rolls are big and soft and tasty. The crab is amazing with just the right spices. The flavor is A+++! Cute truck, very nice owners. Very high quality product!!! GO THERE NOW! We WILL be returning! read more

Have since given the Crabby another try. Is this the same truck? Same hilarious dude at the window so I assume so. The pan-fried crab cake was delicious and the bun, God, infinitely better. I've seen some complaints about the complimentary chips. So what if they're Lay's from a bag with Old Bay seasoning? They're free! Why are people complaining about free stuff? When's the last time you got free fries with your burger? Every truck I've seen charges extra for those. If you don't like free chips, give them to me! read more

At first I was pretty skeptical about a crabcake from a food truck, but it was really good! I ordered the Texan (jalapeños cream cheese, haystack onions, and Virginia bacon). The crabcake itself was very good and not overwhelmed by filler. Overall I thought there was a bit too much cream cheese and too little jalapeños flavor. To be fair I enjoy spicy food, maybe more than the average patron. I would definitely eat here again. read more

Best Crabcakes in Virginia Beach! They have the Baltimore style flair in all the delicious food they prepare with fresh ingredients! I am definitely impressed & look forward to what new creation they come up with next!! read more

I came in from Maryland to visit my family and had the pleasure of trying Capt'n Crabby's. So worth it. Not only are the owners the best - but the food is really good and reasonably priced. Put this on your list. I will be coming back every time I visit family and friends in Colorado. read more

We tried out Capt Crabby at green flash brewery today and was sorely disappointed, angry actually. We ordered 2 crab cake sandwiches and 2 hotdogs (for the kids). The attendant said "your order will be ready in 5-7 minutes." 40 minutes later, and many complaints from the guests ahead of us, they called our name. For $15 per sandwich, I was expecting to be handed a mind blowing looking crab cake. Instead I was handed a crab cake topped with a basil leaf and a 1" sun dried tomato, served on a Great Value bun. I bring my sad sandwich back to our table and took a bite. If you are in to fishy tasting crab, then this is the sandwich for you. I gave it 2 bites and couldn't do anymore without getting sick. As for the "hotdogs," they were big, but tasted like spicy canned cocktail weenies. Those went in the garbage too as the kids wouldn't eat spicy hotdogs. You'd think when the menu says "hotdog," you are getting a hotdog. I would have been more satisfied with actually physically eating the $46 I spent at Capt Crabby. Capt Crappy, I respect your rank but not your service or food. read more

Can you do no stars? Hired for an event that started at 12 noon, they show up 12 noon. Not prepared at all. 2 hour event they were ready when it was over. Run from these guys! read more

I've had thier sandwhiches twice now, and they are great! It does cost a bit more when it comes to street food, but it's worth it. The crab is sweet and not at all fishy, and thier stuff tastes fresh. I would totally eat there again! read more

I ate there last Friday at the Santa Fe art walk. Great sandwich. They use quality bread and baby greens topped with a generous amount of jumbo lump Blue Crab. Hands down one of the best crab sandwiches I've ever had, and I grew up in Maryland so I know good crabs. read more

Haven't had a crab cake this good in YEARS!!! The staff were great and full of Maryland knowledge, very authentic. Everyone ambushed the beer cheese and pretzels, a nice snack while we were checking out the beers. The Italiano and Authentic were our favorite crab cake sandwiches, cooked to perfection and the prosciutto (Italiano) was an excellent touch. Everything had so much flavor and chatting with MJ was great! A real "foodie." She really knows her stuff when it comes to cooking. Hoping to catch this truck around again on our next visit! read more

This little van/truck is pretty amazing. I am always seriously craving fresh seafood, and the Capt'n does not disappoint. I think that's pretty clear since I've gone there almost once a week for a couple of months now! The Crabby Royale is 12 bucks and is huge- full of fresh crab that's not drenched in mayo or covered up. It's great. The Capt'n says they're looking to add more menu items like crab cakes and a crab bisque in the winter. I better start saving my money. read more

I was contacted by the owner asking me to delete my review. Unfortunately - yelp didn't post my review until sometime in 2015 - I gave my original review in 2013 when Crabby's was a food truck vendor in Colorado and my review was accurate at that time. I never saw their food truck in Colorado after that so I think my review speaks for itself..... read more

Attended a wedding catered by Capt'n Crabby this past weekend, was completely blown away by appetizers, pit beef, pulled pork and their amazing crab cakes (of course!) Crab dip was a hit, along with bacon-wrapped BBQ shrimp and the crab cakes were served on soft buns with delicious crabby sauce! Very impressive table decor and set-up as well :) read more

Capt'n Crabby served food at our wedding and everyone raved about the crab cakes and the apps they served before dinner. MJ was super professional, friendly, and responsive throughout the entire process. Having their food truck at our wedding was a fun and unique experience and I wouldn't have done it any differently. Highly recommend!!! read more

Recently tried this place for the first time after much anticipation and searching for it, and needless to say I was not disappointed. For a food truck this was one of the more expensive ones around but given the product they are selling it is understandable why. The food was good and very traditional to the Baltimore, MD area and I tried the crab cake sliders. They were very good and mostly crab meat with very little filler, and these were served with fresh made potato chips seasoned with Old Bay. All in all they were very good and filling for the portion size. My only criticism was the service was a little slow and seemed disorganized but given we had them at a festival with a large crowd they were moving as fast as they could and the product quality did not suffer. I would try these guys again but would not search them out. Once all is said and done very glad I tried them, and they put out a very good crab product. read more
