2 lengua tacos and 2 carne asada tacos
    Iris F.

I'm from California and have eaten at some of the dankest taco trucks/stands in LA so to be honest, I thought these tacos were pretty mediocre. But I do think that they're a lil better than the few taco places I've tried in Maryland so far, so I'll give it 3.5 stars. I thought the lengua was actually really tender, juicy, and flavorful but the carne asada was a bit dry. And overall the tacos were pretty damn dry (see pic) and they actually didn't give me sauce until I asked for it rip.. and then they only gave me salsa verde, which I didn't notice till I left T.T When I went, they were located in the parking lot of Exxon! Not sure if they move around btwn gas stations in that area but the address leads you to a diff station if I remember correctly. Also, it's cash only!!

I was in the area and used yelp to find a place where I can get tacos. Sadly most of the local restaurants have just not done it for me. I wasn't looking to go any of them again. I wanted to see if any new options appeared. To my surprise Elvira's food truck showed up as the number one choice. They also had great reviews. Now normally I can be a stickler for food trucks. But since I am from NY. We all know the best tacos have come from mom and pop food trucks. So I decided to give it a whirl. The truck is located on the side of the gas station. When I arrived there were few cars waiting with customers inside their vehicles since it was raining out. So there was no line at 1pm when I arrived. But as I waited like the others in my car for the order to be prepared. Customer after customer stopped in to place an order. I ordered a little of everything. Only because my eyes are always bigger than my stomach. But also its a crappy day out. So I would like to think I ordered lunch and dinner...haha I placed an order of 3 steak tacos, 1 chicken taco, 1 pupusa and 1 chicken burrito. All for just $19! You can't beat the prices and the quantity. The tacos were pretty much filled with meat in abundance and not much fillers like other places. The steak was so tender and flavorful. Whatever item you order with the steak you are sure to love it! The burrito was huge!!! And again very healthy filling of chicken, rice, beans and veggies. You also got a little baggie with cabbage curtido which wasn't spicy but it was a great add on as a topper to any of the items on the menu. Make sure to also get the spicy green sauce. Tastes just like home made. Many of those flavors reminded me of true home cooking. I was greeted by a young teenager maybe no more than 18, she was very courteous in taking my order. If there was more stars to be given I sure would love to add them. Big kudos to this food truck! You have my eternal business now that I have found this little gem of heavily goodness! I will be back!!!

It's a one woman show here and she's pretty good at what she does! I'm assuming that the sole lady in the truck who took our order and prepared it was the one and only Elvira. The truck is a little tricky to find. It's parked right behind a tiny gas station so you'll have to really be on the lookout to find it. There's no times posted on here or a phone number so it's kind of a hit or miss. We asked for the hours and she said she's open until 9:30pm during the summer... so it's probably somewhere around that during the other seasons as well. Her phone number is on the truck, but it's kind of peeling so good luck trying to decipher it. Ordered 2 Carne Asada tacos and 1 cheese pupusa. I love that she puts a good amount of meat in the tacos but wish that the salsa had more of a kick to it (it had none). I ordered to go so she put my slaw in a ziplock bag so that it wouldn't make my pupusa soggy. The pupusa was ok... I've had better but it was still not so bad. Also ordered horchata. Always order it because it "usually" never fails. Everything is fairly cheap which is also a plus. This place is CASH ONLY. Never saw a sign for it but thankfully had some handy. If you don't, there's a 7-11 nearby where you can withdraw money. Service is good, food is decent -- I'll definitely try to come back!

Update: I came the second time with my boyfriend and her daughter (I'm assuming) took our order. She seemed annoyed and didn't even greet us as she just gave us a look as if she didn't want us to be there. After getting our food, we paid in cash (we gave her 30 and our total was 22). She asked if we had $2 extra to make it a $10 difference, we said no. She was annoyed and went to the front of the truck to search for change. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day, but me and my boyfriend did not feel very welcomed there.

    Steak burrito perfection!!
    Lyn J.

Decided to feed my craving for authentic tacos/burrito heading home from a long day of shopping. I'm so glad I stopped here, I ordered three carne asada tacos for my mom and a taco burrito for myself! My burrito was pack full of creamy black beans and rice, seasoned tender steak, lettuce, and sour cream n a bit of red salsa! Omg I'm in love! It was big, cooked perfectly and worth $7! Next time I'll ask for cilantro on my order (personal preference) By the time I ate 1/2 of my food & went to get a refill of juice my mom had completely demolished her tacos!!($2.50each) Not a crumb left! She really enjoyed them. Also I thought it was really sweet the owner asked me if I wanted the tacos spicy so she wants to make sure that you are happy! It's definitely worth a visit!! Just bring cash!! I'll be back sooner rather then later!

I was surprised this wasn't listed on Yelp. It's kind of rare to see a food truck in this part of Rockville/Aspen Hill/Silver Spring area, but this food truck is hidden right inside the Sunoco gas station on Georgia Avenue. The Sunoco gas station is right next to the 7-11 in case you miss the Sunoco sign. It's really awesome to have this place so close to me. Elivera's kitchen serves Tacos, Burritos, Pupusa, Tamales, a few other dishes and beverages. I wouldn't say it's as good as Taco Bar with all the different toppings, but it's still pretty good, and the meat was cooked well. I got two tacos, $2.25 each, one Lengua (Beef tongue), and Carne Asada. The beef tongue taco was really juicy and cooked well. It had a nice acidity to it, especially when you add the lime juice to it. Carne Asada was also good. The food really didn't take that long, maybe about 10 minutes. As far as I could tell, there was only a lady in the Truck who took orders and also cooked; very friendly and good service. Unfortunately it was raining that day and I couldn't take some good pics, but I'll be back to try this place again, and take more pics. If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend a stop for this place. It's literally hidden in the corner of the gas station, so you could easily miss it.

I wasn't blown away and I wasn't disappointed. For a gas station parking lot food truck, I thought the food was pretty good. I had the chicken tacos & the steak burrito. Both spicy. The chicken was flavorful, as was the steak. The tacos were kinda dry tho. There was a spoonful of what appeared to be Verde sauce on top but it wasn't much of a binder. I'm used to messy tacos, these were jam packed with lettuce, raw onion and radishes? The burrito was freakin massive! It was the size of a DC pothole but better tasting! Shareable for sure. First bite was like biting into a savory marshmallow! It's heavy on rice which im not a fan of but it had quite a bit of steak and cheese to bind it. I dunno...it was good. I just wasn't taken aback by anything. Except the HORCHATA. It was creamy, dreamy, you gotta belieme! :) Elvira the owner and cook was very nice and while it may not have been mind blowing I would definitely go back.

Some of the best tacos I've had in the DMV! Let me count the ways: - Elvira does not skimp on the meat or toppings for her dishes - my biggest taco disappointments generally involve measly toppings portions (I'm looking at you SOL!). But rest assured, Elvira's portions are substantial! - Each order is made fresh, this means that every item tastes like your favorite tio decided to cook just in your honor, and tailor made it to your preference. Be sure to ask for the extra baggy of spicy toppings if heat is your thing - she'll chop up fresh peppers and include them on the side to go. - Affordable! You'll never be ripped off here - prices are super reasonable, and honestly a steal considering the freshness and portions - Fresh horchata and tamarind juice? Sold. If you're in the area, please check out this spot! Definitely worth stopping by at least once!

This place is amazing!! I've been wanting to try Elvira's for a while now and today was the day. First off, their prices are so affordable for the amount of food you get. I ordered a chicken burrito and one pupusa de revuelta. The burrito was huge!! It was loaded with rice, beans, lettuce, chicken and melted cheese- by far a more loaded burrito than chipotle. It was phenomenal!! Everything blended together really well and to top it all off, the pupusa was tasty in its own right! Good sized pupusa for $2. This is a very good spot for great food for an affordable price. I will definitely be back!

Delicious tacos and tamales. Fresh horchata. Very nice lady. Our food came out fast probably as we were the only ones waiting. Location is tricky. Don't trust the map. Just go into exon gas station and look for the truck.

We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.

When I walked in, the place was completely empty but the employee working was friendly and quick to greet me and instructed me to the wall with screens to order. The menu is limited in my opinion, so I ordered the American Way tacos with chicken that only comes with cheese, lettuce and sour cream on the side. I added tomatoes for a $1 up charge and their taco salsa for another $1.50 up charge and they come 3 to an order. I also got a Jarritos fruit punch and my order came to a total of $19.60. While the dining area and bar is cute, I was quite disappointed with my food unfortunately. The chicken was flavorless and cold and given the price point, was absolutely not worth it. I would've been better off going elsewhere to get better tasting food for a fraction of the cost of the sub par tacos I had today. Perhaps I made a bad menu choice but I will not be going back.
