I'll start with the positive. Our waiter was so sweet and really wanted to please. The restaurant was clean and I didn't get I'll. Other than that the food was mediocre for the price and the view was of a side street. AtThe "fresh catch" of the day was salmon. Which is unlikely at Ocean City, MD. The rolls were still frozen in the midfle, The chips on the appetizer were stale. The crab cakes for $38 were the size of half dollars and the vegetable sides were bland. My husband's scampi was ok. For the price tag, skip this venue and go elsewhere for something cheaper. At half the price, it would have been ok. read more

Had an excellent experience dining here last night. We had a large group of people and everyone enjoyed it very much. The food is fantastic! I had the calamari and my husband had the smoked salmon appetizer. I didn't care too much for the calamari, it lacked flavor or salt in the breading but it was a healthy serving and the breading was light and crisp and was cooked perfectly. The smoked salmon however was to die for. I recommend that appetizer 100% and it's also a healthy serving for the price. For my entree, their fish of the day was salmon or swordfish. I chose the salmon topped with crabmeat, sautéed spinach with a lemon sauce and I chose mashed potatoes for my side dish. Absolutely fantastic. The salmon was cooked perfectly, skin super crispy on the bottom and very flavorful. Potatoes and spinach were excellent as well. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi with spinach and broccoli. It came with shrimp, scallops and crab meat in a butter sauce. That was excellent as well, he really enjoyed it. Other appetizers and entrées that were ordered by other members of our party were: shrimp cocktail, cream of crab soup (this was their soup of the day), shrimp spring rolls, steak & cake (crabcake) spinach salad and pork chop. I took a couple pictures of our appetizers which I'll post. Not to mention the service was great. Not one order was forgotten or messed up, our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable and every steak was cooked perfectly to how it was ordered (which is obviously important!). Hats off to the chef. This place was quaint, I really enjoyed the live piano music and the waiter was very attentive. For those reasons I give this place 4 stars. I ordered the chicken and shrimp garlic entree. I requested no panko breading on my chicken the waiter had to ask the chef and he obliged. The garlic sauce was very good, the sauteed spinach was perfect, the shrimp not so good it had a very bad taste. My darling co diner had the 16oz Rib eye steak, he gave me a small taste of this awesome steak and It was delish (Thank you ). My go to drink was a margarita and the first one needed more tequila power. I'm from NYC queens !!!We like a good margarita lol. So my awesome waiter made sure the second one was perfect... First and foremost ,service was great . Our server ,Kim did a wonderful job and made it a more pleasurable experience. My wife loved the Cosmo ,said it was one of the best she has ever had . French onion soup was ok ,as was the cream of crab. She had the crab cake and it was ok I thought it needed a pinch more seasoning. I ordered the Mahi special and was disappointed . What came were 4 little filets about 3 in long and 1 in wide , looked like a kids meal. They were over cooked . For that I was charged $28 and to add insult to injury ,because I ordered it blackened I was charged an additional $2 for each piece for a total of $8 .We may stop by at the bar in the future but we will not eat there again .Too many other places with better food for your money. When the back of the house is supposedly Cornell trained it is pretty sad. read more

My husband and I decided to take a breakfast trip from Berlin, MD, to our favorite breakfast spot, the Captain's Table located in the Marriott hotel on 15th Street in Ocean City, MD. We were planning to order their speciality, the fruit bowl and creamed chipped beef. The last time we were there, the food was OK but not up to par. We know everyone or restaurant can have a bad day so we went yesterday, Sunday, 12/29/19. Our server was friendly enough, but said the order would take a little while because one of the cooks had just walked out. That should have been a red flag. Non the the less, it is our favorite, go to, breakfast restaurant so we stayed. I ordered the famous fruit bowl with the porpoise banana top. Our waitress told me we could neither order that or any fruit because they were out of fruit. Red flag, especially on a weekend in Ocean City. I ordered a bagel with regular cream cheese instead. While we waited for our food, I watched the server for a 12 top apologized profusely for the delay in being served. The waitress was trying her hardest to make this multigenerational family comfortable. I'm not sure where she's found them but she brought individually wrapped danish for the kids. Their conversation was "we will not make another reservation here because the restaurant was not up to Marriott standards", among other things. We finally received our food and I received light cream cheese. I asked if they would switch it out for regular cream cheese and she said they didn't have any regular cream cheese, they were out. So no fruit bowl and no delicious bagel with cream cheese. I explained to the waitress they we frequently go for breakfast at the Captain's Table, as well as our friends and then go for a walk on the boardwalk as do a lot of the locals. I asked if the restaurant was under new management and she said yes. I told her I was very disappointed. She just shrugged her shoulders. Not the explanation I was looking for. The server with the 12 top was so friendly and helpful for her bunch of restless, hungry, kids. I believe she wrote off a significant part of their meal. That seemed to make the family so appreciative for her efforts. I don't think I'll be back, unless things go back to the way they before. Corporate Marriott is now is running the restaurant. I don't know about other places, but on the eastern shore, things are run a little different. I guess that's why people come here and even stay here. read more

Located inside the Marriott Hotel on the boardwalk. You have to go inside and get to the third floor. I will say it is a little fancy. Maybe more than some people are looking for on vacation. Prices also are not cheap, but what is on vacation?? If you don't mind an early dinner they have "early bird" specials from 5pm-6pm (you have to be seated BY 6pm). The menu for early bird is a tad smaller but still has great options (steak and seafood). Food did take a LONG time to come out but our server was great and attentive. I ordered Crab Soup (soup of the day) and the Seafood Scampi. Crab soup was ok. Big portion. Not as much crab in it that I would like. The Scampi was awesome! My family and I were here for dinner on a Monday night. We asked if we could be seated in a booth due to my toddler's habit of getting out of their seat. Right after being seated, I heard out waiter, Tyler complaining to the hostess about seating a party of 4 there, when clearly a party of 6 could sit there. I wish that was the end of our bad experience, but it wasn't. We waited for everything, ignored for most thing like water. I asked him what he would recommend for dessert and he ignored my question. He collected the dirty plates and went into the kitchen with a huff. I paid and left him a 10% tip. Here is where it gets interesting. Had breakfast here. Country omelette was delish w/ ham, peppers, onions and tomatoes. smoked salmon omelette was a bit too salty. Pancakes were huge. We didn't touch it at all had to take away. Saw a lot of people leaving theirs behind barely touched. They should reduce the size and/or make it delicious enough that people don't waste them so much. Waitress was super nice! A group of 6 of us went here on Christmas day, 2018, for a feast at the all you can eat buffet line. The line had a good variety of food ranging from mac and cheese and suckatash, to salmon and prime rib. All in all, I was VERY impressed with the buffet, and in particular liked the salmon. The freshness was amazing for the seafood.. Portions were very generous, everything cooked simply but well seasoned and flavorful without being fried.. We had dinner and breakfast here and were very satisfied. Staff all wear masks. Food is very good and for dinners you get a lot of food. Warm rolls are served with dinner. Desserts are delicious. We took my sister in law there for her birthday on January 15, 2023. Understand that I've been coming to the Captain's Table since it was in the Santa Maria Motel. And although I was mildly disappointed last time we were here, this time was much better. Our waitress was Kim and she did a fine job. We skipped cocktails and appetizers and went right for the main course. My sister in law ordered lobster tail from the menu, not from the 'special lobster menu' that has been advertised in the local paper. She said it was just right and flavorful. She thought it was a little strange to serve mashed potatoes with lobster but went with the flow. My wife ordered the seafood risotto, and thought it was delightful. The serving was big enough that she took home a doggie bag and enjoyed the remainder for lunch the next day. Unfortunately, the Seafood Risotto no longer appears on the menu. I hesitantly ordered the Steak Frites, which is grilled steak on top of french fries. I hesitated because the steak in question is a flat iron steak. Now, I enjoy flat iron steaks, BUT in the past at other establishments, I have sometimes found the meat to be tough. Also, my pet peeve for Ocean City restaurants is that they don't know how to cook meat. I think it unconscionable that a chef not know how to cook EVERY item on his menu, not just the seafood. However, this time, I found the meat not only to be tender but also to be properly cooked. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium rare. Tender and tasty, what more could you ask for? (It should be noted that the current menu listed on line says that the Steak Frites is now topped with a Tenderloin Steak.) So for once, everyone at our table had a fine meal! read more

Very difficult to find parking and the actual restaurant, but the food and service was astounding. I made reservations a month in advance to surprise my boyfriend and he loved it. Could not handle the large than usual crowd on Memorial Day. The management and staff also do not care that the customers had to wait for very long time for the food. We waited for one hour for our appetizer. While waiting, we watched people surrounding us and found that they were in the same situation. Among them, one couple next to us waited for almost another hour after their appetizer for their main dish. Much worse, there was a young family with two young children next to us waiting for TWO hours for their main dishes. They finally gave up, paid, and left. The two young kids were amazingly patient and it was brutal to see them waiting and starving for 2 hours. The waitress only said sorry but didn't do anything to help the family. No manager was on the floor to explain to the customers why their food was so much delayed. Finally, when one manager was called upon, he gave the young family a lame excuse of "their ticket was lost". We had high expectations based off the reviews on Yelp. Ill skip the drama and simply put in the problems: My scampi was overcooked. The shrimp was rubber, the scallops were chewy, and the lump crab was dry. Doused in copious amounts of butter seemed to be an attempt to salvage it. My wife's lobster was better but still over cooked and drier than she's used to. They didn't have marinara for my youngest's pata and offered olive oil with garlic and tomatoes or butter. What kid will enjoy garlic and olive oil? He didnt eat a bite. Ladtly my oldest child ordered a burger. We had to return it because on his second bite he found a wire. A two inch long piece of wire! They took the burger of the bill. Now the only goo part of the meal was the appetizers. The bacon wrapped scallops were very good and so was the guacamole with lump crab. read more

Just when I'm about to give up on OC restaurants I come across a gem. We stayed at the Marriott and though I was reluctant to try this restaurant I walked away pleasantly surprised. We started with breakfast which was complimentary with the hotel stay. Nothing too impressive there, just your standard breakfast fare. Then we decided to return for dinner. I tried their crab chowder with a tomato base. Very tender and fresh crabs. It went well with the warm crusty bread they served. I also tried their Chicken with artichoke sauce and my hubbie tried their Halibut. Both were served with a very tender basmati rice and both were delicious. I adore artichokes and loved the dish, the chicken was tender and served with a cream sauce. I'm looking forward to leftovers tomorrow. I think the Chicken dish was around $19 and that included the soup and salad. Not bad at all. Bonnie was our server and was very attentive and friendly. She even went the extra step to provide entertainment to our easily-distracted and at-times-unruly toddler. First she got him crayons and a coloring book, then when his attention span wandered again she brought out the legos. Apparently the restaurant owner also has 2 little girls so the toys came in handy. Thank you Bonnie! It allowed us to enjoy our dinner. If there's any downside to this restaurant it's that it looks like a hotel restaurant. But don't let that fool you, dinner and service are wonderful. Especially on the boardwalk when all you see is the standard hot dog, pizza and burger fare. read more

The bread was delicious and we all enjoyed our meals. Made a reservation for 10 and they were ready for us when we got there and we were seated immediately. Can't wait to go back there when I visit Ocean City again. If you go to Ocean City, this is a definite place you should go to eat. I am staying at the Marriott. Decided to order some carry out so i can relax in my room and eat. I'm very disappointed with the service. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken but they didn't cut up the chicken. They served it in two big pieces. The only compliment is that the crab soup is delicious. Just strange they served it in a big coffee cup. Overall I give them two stars. They over charge for the food and the service was horrible. I will never eat there again. read more

Captain's Table is a sleeper hit - it sits inside a Marriott Courtyard and begs to be dismissed as just another hotel restaurant. Ignore that gut reaction and head over for delicious seafood. Of course its a bit pricey but probably near market prices. I started off with crab guacomole - which was more so crab cake with pieces of avocado. Still it was great - a lot of crab thrown in and some good seasoning. For the main course I had blackened halibut with crabcake and onion rings (pick a side - plenty of potato options available). The "sautéed green beans" tasted like they were from a steamer bag. That aside, the service was wicked slow. Waited about 20 mins for our first drinks. 20 more mins for soup. Soup. What a sweet little place inside the boardwalk Courtyard. Our waitress was very good. The chocolate peanut butter cake was delicious. The peanut butter did not overwhelm. The biscuits for breakfast were light and fluffy. The four stars are here because the Friday night piano music was LOUD. The piano player was very good, but the acoustics were not. This once was a standalone restaurant and is still family owned and operated which is good and bad in my experience. The bad part is service and food prep. are uneven. In my case, the waitress, though very nice, looked like she had a few miles under her shoes and was distracted, so did not write down my order, which was quite simple: entree and a la carte salad. Well, the entree made it, but the salad did not. It was just as well as I was filled by time I finished healthy portion of rice that came with my encrusted halibut steak over bed of rice, accompanied by fresh green beans, oh, wait, no more green beans, so that was asparagus, which I considered an upgrade. The requisite iced water had strong chemical taste; I've been drinking bottled water since I got to O.C., so, perhaps, this is city water, if so, a filtered water would be better as this strongly influenced taste of the food. The waitress seemed to go on vacay and then would appear again with entree (forgotten salad) and the left me in peace, and peace and peace. I got antsy as I likely sat for 30 minutes between finishing entree and being asked for dessert or check. Check, pronto, please! Thankfully, if you're guest of Marriott you can sign charges to your hotel room, thus no waiting for processing and return of your cc. On the bright side, the macadamia encrusted halibut steak and, there are three or four other fresh fish offerings, was simply superb, so that counts, but the rest of the affair, from execution to rather sleepy service, made for 3-star instead of 4-star review. read more

This was a great surprise to us; it is the restaurant inside the Courtyard by Marriott hotel (3rd floor). We yelped it and it delivered. We have a party of 3 and were not starving. Ordered 3 appetizers and bottle of wine. None disappointed. Everything was splendid. Appetizer portions are big. So are entrées; we saw them in the tables near to ours. Food was cooked to perfection. The ordinary food was served extraordinarily. They also have creative new ideas like the guacamole crab dip which is out of this world. The bartender working on Saturday 8/24, could be friendlier and not come off as if customers are bothering him. We couldn't finish our entrees because we devoured our app of guacamole and lump crabmeat with tortilla chips. Probably one of my best tasting apps anywhere. The menu is classic Md fare, including fresh fish of the day. Salads are huge and could suffice as dinner entrees. Green beans were steamed to perfection. Scallops were lacking in a good sear. This is an amazing place to dine, if you're in the area. It is located directly inside the Courtyard Oceanfront hotel. Bae and I decided to check this place out while on a Mini-Vacay. Atmosphere: 5 out of 5 There's a guy on piano as soon as you walk in. He's awesome. He played Happy Birthday for someone's Grandma as they presented her cake. I thought that was super cute. There are TV's and a bar area on the right. Standard variation for booths and tables. This restaurant has a little bit of something for everyone. Food: 4 out of 5 Everything was good, even the water was amazing. Bae got the duck and loved it. It was my first time having duck and it was very flavorful and the they give you two sauces to accompany. The rice was fluffy and seasoned, and his sweet potato was great too. I had the lamb but it initially didn't impress me. (STAY AWAY FROM THE DEMI-GLACÉ) the sauce made my lamb soggy, which almost ruined the meal for me. They were able to crisp up the lamb and remove the Demi-Glacé for me. Mashed potatoes were so on point! The presentation was everything. Green Beans were expertly flavored. Service: 4 out of 5 Our server was awesome. She was right on point with everything. She could describe every dish and what it came with. I'm taking one star away because she told me she couldn't take the lamb off. (I didn't want to create drama so I obliged) I initially wanted the steak and lobster so I should have stuck with that, but lesson learned. All in all, I was mostly impressed. Terrible experience. Maybe it was an offseason problem (we were there mid Jan) but not acceptable for the price. Once our server came, we ordered drinks (beer not cocktails) and started waiting. Our beer came after about ten minutes, so of course we were ready to order. I ordered a medium rare steak, and my fiancé ordered blackened fish. Neither dish should take too long even if they "cook to order" as they claim. One hour after we arrived we were finally served, kind of. My dish came as one order, steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. However everything was cold. When they brought my full meal, all that came for my fiancé was her fish, a boring plate of three pieces of fish (again cold) and a sauce in a plastic container. We were told her sides (steamed broccoli and French fries) would be there shortly. After about five minutes, she received her fries, the first food that was actually hot! But still no broccoli. She asked for the broccoli and a little extra bread. As we waited far too long for broccoli, we saw the order of bread we asked for delivered to them next table, who had just arrived and they didn't bring them butter so we assume it was for us. Fed up, I asked for the manager. After 15 min of growing annoyance, at least he broccoli finally arrived, someone came to talk to us. I explained what had happened, and he said he would comp half the meal and get us new food. I said that was not going work, then he told us he was not actually a manager,and there was not one there at the time. He finally agreed to comp the meal and we left immediately without finishing after a ruined night. read more

My friends and I decided to try this place out because we wanted great seafood that's close by where we were staying (around the boardwalk). Its location surprised us because it's in a hotel and was a bit too fancy for a casual beach trip, however, the food was spectacular. I had some: 1. crab dips-- really good! 2. Raw oysters-- seems to be fresh and yummy, I only had one... 3. Salmon stuffed with imperial crab lumps with suateed spinach-- amazing and stuffed! I had a martini, but it wasn't as great ( too sweet to my taste but I'm sure their other cocktails are good. A set back was their slow services. Went to OC during the off season and had a difficult time finding somewhere to eat. This place was open and next to our hotel, so we said why not. For the price of the food, the quality of it probably should be better but I have no complaints about the food itself. Got a pasta dish with chicken and cream sauce, it was a huge portion and great.
