Wow this is a must do when in the area!! We ate in the fine dining section. It was old school and beautiful with gorgeous views of the bay. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I loved the scallops and lobster risotto. I didn't care for the appetizer we ordered, bbq bacon wrapped shrimp. There was a club area next door with a band. I would have loved to have a drink there next time. There was also lots of seats outside to view the sunset. There is a lot of parking but the place is busy and you might have to park far away. Extremely Disappointing Experience at Fager's Island!! I rarely leave a negative review, but our experience at Fager's Island in Ocean City, Maryland, was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share it. We had made a reservation specifically to dine in the fine-dining section upstairs. My wife arrived before me because I had to park the car, and she was already seated upstairs when I entered the restaurant. When I went upstairs to find my wife, I was immediately confronted by an older woman who I believe was associated with the ownership or management. Instead of politely asking if she could help me, she rudely said, "What are you doing here?" I explained that my wife was already upstairs and that we had a reservation. She repeatedly ordered me to go downstairs and speak with the front desk before coming upstairs. I did exactly that, only to be told by the front desk that we had been seated on the lower level, despite my reservation being for the fine-dining section upstairs. When I explained this, my concern was essentially dismissed. Unfortunately, the poor treatment continued at the table. Our waitress took approximately 15 minutes just to come over and ask if we wanted something to drink. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, and when it arrived, we proceeded to order our food. While waiting, I turned one of the chairs slightly so my wife could sit comfortably while I took a picture of her with the beautiful water view behind her. The waitress rudely told me, "You can't turn the chair and take my chair." The attitude was completely unnecessary and made us feel uncomfortable as customers. Then came the food. I ordered my steak medium, It arrived well done. Given my experience as a restaurant owner, the steak appeared to me as though it may have been prepared ahead of time and reheated. My wife ordered the fish, which was described to us as fresh caught. Unfortunately, her fish was also overcooked. We did not make a scene. We politely explained the problem to our waitress and asked that both meals be corrected so we could enjoy our dinner together. Instead of simply correcting the problem, the waitress returned with my steak cut open in the middle and told me that the chef said it was cooked perfectly. It wasn't. I explained again that I had ordered it medium to medium-well and that it was well done. I politely asked them to remake it. I also asked that my wife's fish be remade so we could eat together. My steak came back first, but then my wife had to wait another approximately 10 minutes for her fish. At this point, what should have been a nice dinner had become an extremely frustrating experience. Mistakes happen in restaurants. That's not the issue. A steak can be overcooked. Fish can be overcooked. Orders can occasionally take longer than expected. What matters is how a restaurant treats its customers when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, we experienced rudeness, dismissive behavior, poor communication, disappointing service, and food that was not prepared as ordered. I came to Fager's Island expecting an enjoyable fine-dining experience and instead left extremely disappointed. For the prices they charge and the reputation they have, I expected much better. I would not recommend Fager's Island based on our experience. There are plenty of restaurants in Ocean City where customers can spend their money and be treated with courtesy and respect. I have been here many times in the past and enjoyed the various parts of the venue. Today we went to fine dining and we did not enjoy the food at all. The bread was too garlicky, one bite and left the rest. Husband got filet and asked for it to be cooked, "medium". Should be pink in middle. This thing was overcooked and way past well done. The mashed potatoes tasted like sour cream, like an overwhelming amount of sour cream. He left 90% of his food behind and the waitress didn't ask why. We said no to a box and she still didn't ask. It was clear he didn't like it. I got the roasted chicken and it was ok. I asked for carrots and they brought the spinach I said I didn't want. Left half of the meal behind. Well over $100 and most of it was wasted. Really struck out this time. We used to love the food. The part with the band was packed and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. My first time trying Fagers Island for dinner, and I can't complain! We were sat immediately, had a lovely server, and even better views of the bay. I got their Painkiller cocktail, and they did not skimp on the coconut. One of the best I've had in OC. For food I tried the Thai Noodle Salad with the peanut sauce on the side, and this was something to write home about. The serving was very generous, and it was si cc a refreshing dinner. The sunset views are absolutely beautiful, and the music really helps hype up the atmosphere and makes the whole experience even more fun. I wish I had taken more good pictures, but we were having such a great time that I completely forgot to document the rest of our food. The only thing I'd say is that the drinks didn't seem quite as strong this year. I'm a lightweight and usually feel pretty tipsy after about 1.5 drinks, but this year I had 2 and honestly didn't feel much at all. Decided to try this place after a coworker of mine suggested to go. We ended up going the last day of our trip and I have to say that it has amazing views. The restaurant is pretty big. The outside is very nice to sit out and enjoy the view of the water in the boat. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was very delicious. We ordered the calamari which was very well prepared we also had other meals which tasted very good. I had to the wings. They could've been less saucy, but overall, everything was good. My girlfriend and I met for an overnight getaway in Ocean City. This is the end of April, so the season is just getting underway. We made a 7:30 reservation for dinner. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy, and there was a golf cart shuttle bringing patrons up to the door. We walked instead of riding in, and we stopped to take sunset pictures. We had a lovely table with a nice view. Neither one of us needed huge portions, but our server, Elizabeth, was very gracious about our choices. They split our salad onto two plates. We enjoyed the diver scallops appetizer, which was amazing, and the vegetarian pasta entree which had peppers & green beans, and other veggies. The rolls they bring out are delicious. Okay, everyone. This calamari connoisseur has met her match. This place has EVERYTHING. It does bar to fine dining. Had I worn my going-out outfit under my finest garb, I might've hit both in one trip. To start the night, you have to go through an I.D. scan as well as a metal detector... my colleagues and I felt as though this was a little excessive albeit we understood the need. Once inside, we were led through the winding halls and up the stairs to the fine dining area. We had a beautiful table location in the corner overlooking the bay. The food was DIVINE and well worth the $. I was pleasantly surprised by the calamari and the scallops. Stopped here for a bite to eat. Location was great to see the sunset at the restaurant or on the pier. Parking was tight at restaurant or you can park in another area and walk to restaurant. Little bit of a wait but not bad. They don't do any substitutions when it comes to ordering your meal, what you see on the menu is what you get. We got the kitchen sink burger I don't like mushrooms ask asked minus the mushrooms and was told can't minis anything. What the menus says is what you get. Didn't want potato fries wanted reg fries that they have but was told that was a up charge of $6. I just don't like the potato fries. Service was quick food was very good and the drinks were good also. We also got jerk chicken which was very good and teriyaki salmon with rice was very tasty. Eating upstairs in Fager's Island's fine dining room during our last trip to Ocean City was a pleasant surprise in every way. Many of the restaurants in OC lean very touristy or very local. Either way, you often feel like an outsider and tend to be treated that way. From the time that we were seated at our table with a gorgeous view of the bay, we felt like we were part of a well run tradition that was there for us. The food was excellent and the service was personal. We loved the celebration at sunset so much that we stayed for dessert and coffee, something we don't normally do. Lovely beach ambiance at the fine dining establishment. The panoramic views of Assawoman Bay are remarkable. Had the chef's special Pan Seared Divers Scallops to start, they were fresh & buttery and complimented the chutney garnish. For dinner I had the Fager's Style Catch of the day, (rockfish) over the Noilly Prat Sauce. The sauce was AMAZING! The Creamy texture, vibrant herby taste complimented the fish perfectly. While visiting Ocean City for a wedding, my friend made a reservation for the Fine Dining area at Fager's Island as she had been here several times and wanted me to experience this place. We sat in the dining room off to the side with a view of the bay and the late afternoon sun. Our server was Robert, and he was attentive and professional. We started off with some great drinks, including Fager's Old Fashioned, the Garden Party and the All Cracked Up. All cocktails were fantastic! My friend's daughter ordered the Cream of Crab soup, and she shared some of it with me. It was heavenly; the broth was thick and had plenty of crab. For dinner, my friends had the Steak and Cake (6 oz beef tenderloin with a jumbo lump crab cake, roasted potatoes, asparagus and carrots) and the 8oz Filet of Beef Tenderloin with caramelized onions, mashed potatoes, asparagus and carrots). They both raved about the flavor and cooked temperature of their tenderloins. I decided to go with the Maryland Style Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes because I cannot seem to find better crab cakes than when I visit the Maryland area. These crab cakes did not disappoint! They were stuffed full of fresh crab and light on the breading, which is usually the opposite at other restaurant locations I've found while traveling. The cakes came with roasted rosemary potatoes, asparagus and carrots. It was a fine meal indeed! After dinner, we walked around the outside patio dining area and the pier area. It was a beautiful evening and the breeze off the bay was very nice. We enjoyed another cocktail as we watched the sunset. Afterward, we went to the dance bar area and were entertained by an excellent live band. This bar area was really hopping that night and we stayed for two sets as we were having a blast! They are several bar spots throughout Fager's Island, so it is always easy to purchase a drink here. It was an all-around Five Star experience!! read more

I came in on a Wednesday night before season starts and was sat right away and had my choice of inside, outside, or the porch - I chose the porch because it's still a little chilly!! Gavin was a super attentive server, greeted me as soon as I was sat and made sure that I had everything I needed. The scallops were perfectly cooked, big chunks of lobster in the risotto, and the arugula was the perfect amount and flavor - I love that peppery kick that it has - overall a delicious meal! We arrived at the bar and grabbed a corner seat by the deck, whcih overlooks the bay. Me and My wife ordered a Painkiller. Flavorful, fresh, but low on the alcohol department. While sitting we ordered the Fried Clamari. They claim it's fresh cut. It tasted like any other fried clamari and was good. Nothing spectacular. While sitting, chatting, and reading some literature we picked up from the O.C. RV Show, we were quite litterally inundated with fruit flys. I know it was not their fault per se`, but it was annoying. For the next round I ordered a tall 'rail' drink which had lots of ice and not much alcohol. I wasn't looking to do shots, I guess the lighter alchol content could be due to the fact that we are not locals and it was mid afternoon on a Sunday. My wife and I always try to go to Fager's at least one time every time we go to Ocean City. We always sit at the bar to order our food waiters and waitresses always right on whatever you need. We don't try a lot of their other food, but what we do order is always been great.. Went for an early dinner...4pm. I approached the hostess stand where five employees were standing. Not a greeting, smile, nothing. I asked for a table for two. After being seated I wanted to take a look at the outdoor seating options. A male employee was standing at the entrance to outside swinging a long keychain in circles. He saw me approaching...but didn't stop swinging the chain. He needed to stop in order for me to pass. I had to ASK him to excuse me. Returning from outside, there he was still swinging the keychain that blocked the door. "Excuse me, can I get by?" He moved...but with a smirk. NOT KIDDING! My husband had been parking the truck and he came in. I told him we are leaving. This place isnt getting a penny from us. Why would we want to be somewhere where the employees seemed miserable OR snotty...maybe both. Made reservations for 6 at 6 pm. They have 2 different venues and menus, and it seemed like it was (according to our server) inconvenient to pick from both menus, but 2 of us did just that. Little did we know, it delayed our food. We waited over an hour until we got everything. My husband ordered the Prime rib with a baked potato and carrots and asparagus, all of which were barely warm. I had the fresh catch of the day, it was Rock fish with a cream sauce, tomatoes ( sun dried), capers, olives on a bed of spinach. it was not hot at all, although it was very tasty. I did not taste or see olives or capers. It would have been nice to have a side of starch like rice pilaf. I know they have been around forever and I am sure they are always busy but, we will not be returning. I can't speak for my friends, we just enjoyed our company, and try not to be negative. The guys let me know there was nothing to dry their hands in the men's room. The ladies room was pretty clean so no complaints there. I feel our meal was expensive even though we both ordered the 1/2 off specials. I realized everything is so much more expensive....it is just a shame our experience was not what we anticipated. I did let the server downstairs regarding the men's room. Our one friend has a prosthetic leg and we asked for a table downstairs but they seemed to not be able to want to accommodate us so we took the stairs any way. We were able to get a last minute reservation and the manager was so kind to get us a table close to the water. Our waitress was so kind as well. I also ordered the summer breeze mocktail and it was really good, I was surprised I made it last throughout the entire time I was there. Started off with the raw Rockefeller oysters that had a good amount of meat to them and the crab soup was peppered which gave it a kick and made me want more. For the entree, I ordered the scallions with lobster risotto. I think about that dish till this day and it opened my eyes to scallions. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The catch of the day was Halibut and it was fresh and juicy and the portion size was bigger than anticipated and it was filling as well. The desserts are for more than one person so please note that as well, ugh the creme brûlée was so good as well! My absolute favorite place to visit when in ocean city. Their food has gotten better and when we mentioned it to our waitress she mentioned that they revamped the menu and got rid of seed oils. The food was amazing and great to share. The oysters were perfectly salty. Caesar salad was large enough to share and the chicken had a great smoked flavor. The food there is absolutely amazing!!! I got the sea bass, and the combination of the sauce and the fish is just excellent! The sauce on top of the fish is a sweet, smokey like sauce. You would be amazed on how good it is! The fish does come fried with the bones in it and everything, even the eyeballs are in it too! The fish is nicely layed out on a platter. Our waiter was super helpful! I wish I knew his name so that I could put him on this review, but unfortunately I do not. I went with someone allergic to fish, so the waiter had to make sure everything was not near the fish, and he did that excellently! We sat outside with a view of the bay, and it was super pretty! As you can see from my last review in 2022 I have been here many times in the past for lunch and dinner. I returned here on a Sunday for a friend's 30th birthday party. We had two tables of 8 each. 15 people attended the party. Since this was a birthday party a limited 3-course menu was arranged by her parents. I started with and enjoyed my two pain killers for $11 each. We shared and enjoyed the fresh cut calamari with cajun remoulade sauce for $17.50. We also shared and enjoyed the classic Caesar salad, which was very crispy for $16. I also enjoyed my prime rib, which was properly cooked medium rare for $51. It included fresh shaved horseradish, baked potato and vegetables of the day, which were slivered carrots and broccolini for $51. My prime rib was one of the tastiest I have enjoyed in the past couple of years. I also enjoyed my vanilla creme brulee for $11. I ended my dinner with my draft Guinness. Our two experienced male and female servers served both of our tables very well, including my table. We all agreed we will return here again for lunch or dinner. read more

I have loved fager's for some time now! Ive been to the restaurant for take-out, fine-dining, and regular outdoor dining. I have yet to stay in the hotel. On this visit, we sat in the covered patio area, as it was a little chilly out. We took a long from coastal highway down a long dark road, it could be a little better lit coming from the back way. So I don't recommend that route if you can help it. The restaurant was bustling, but our service was efficient. The crab cake entree is still good but now that it is more expensive, it seems less worth the price for what you get. The live music was a nice touch. So you can eat and then go dance it off. This does create a louder environment, so choose where to sit based on your mood. I'd definitely return to sit out on the water. read more

Had dinner with my family, our waitress was Carly, she was very nice and accomdating. The restaurant was busy this evening and running alittle behind. We were warned before we were seated. We sat in the indoor/outside dining area with the view of the water. We ordered our drinks and food all at once. Started with rolls and cream of crab soup. It was the best I've ever had , it was warm but not hot. Then our entrees came out and I ordered the crab cake platter, the crab cakes were delicious and hardly any filler. I enjoyed my crispy duck itself, but didn't care for how sweet all the things that came along with the dish. The sweet potatoes, sauce, carrots and broccoli were all sweet and sugary. I enjoyed eating the sweet potato with the duck. If you want a more savory dish, this one may not be for you. The fried scallops were delicious. Crispy outside and juicy/tender scallops inside.
