Customer Service: Hands down the best we experienced during our 9-day family trip to OCMD. Karri, our waitress, made us feel like family, loved her. Jeff & Mike were professional, friendly, and made a point to engage with every table. Breakfast? PHENOMENAL. Best we've had, not just this summer, but in all our years visiting OCMD. My wife and son agree. Everything was homemade and cooked to order. No frozen shortcuts. Portions were just right, flavors balanced beautifully, and nothing overly sweet. Nashville Hot Stuffed French Toast: The bourbon and caramelized apples stole the show. Chicken was a fun twist, though next time I'd get it on the side to keep the sweet and spicy separate. You can skip the chicken altogether and save $4 if you'd like. Banana Foster French Toast: Mind-blowing. The kind of dish that makes you question everything you've ever called "breakfast." Plate was licked clean. Already dreaming of it for summer 2026. Creamed Chipped Beef over Biscuits: Shared this one. Generous portion, nostalgic flavor, clearly a recipe passed down and perfected. Triple Decker: My son had the chocolate chip pancakes, huge portion, perfect texture, and he loved every bite. Only minor con: straws come unwrapped in your drink. Was visiting Ocean City, Maryland and it was our last day there. Looked for a brunch spot and decided to give this place a try. When we first arrived, around 10:30am, the place was already full of people and a few people were lined up to get their name on the waitlist. We waited about 5min and a lady asked if anybody minded sitting in this corner table behind the bar in the back of the restaurant and we didn't mind so we immediately took the spot. If anything, we liked that it was in a more quiet and secluded area away from the other guests! The waitress was very friendly and joked around with us and also gave us suggestions on what to get on the menu. The food came quickly and everything was delicious! We ordered the homemade biscuit with sausage gravy as well as the Surfing Benedict and the Banana Foster Roll. Left feeling very full and satisfied! read more

After a less-than-stellar first visit earlier this year, we decided to give Surfside Rooster another chance this morning - I'm so glad we did! The cinnamon roll was the perfect sweet appetizer. While the biscuits are not our favorite, the fried chicken and cream chipped beef were excellent! Super nice place that we would always pass leaving Assateague. We would normally go to Bayside Skillet (which is good) but wanted to try somewhere new. After one visit this is now our go-to breakfast spot when we visit the area. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent and it's super cozy inside. The bar is far enough from the dining area that there can be a bunch of guys sitting there watching the game and you're not disturbed at all. read more

Cool little bar/brunch spot in Ocean Coty. Ordered sausage and gravy and their crab meat eggs benedict. This was my first time having sausage and gravy so I don't have a reference but I thought it was pretty darn good. Biscuit was moist and soft on the inside with a moderate cheeses flavor. Dipped in with the sausage gravy mixed with bits of sausages was . Eggs benedict was also done well. Eggs weren't super runny (which I prefer) and it was loaded with crab meat. Staff were super friendly and gave us some solid recommendations. They told us to order their banana fosters pancake stack and it was a solid rec. We stopped in for breakfast on a fall morning. We were thankful they were open, as many places were closed. We had creamed chipped beef gravy and biscuits, and a scramble. Both were excellent. Our waitress was the best, as she was friendly and fast. I asked her about the biscuits and she told me they are cheddar biscuits made fresh every morning. Really were outstanding! Also, huge portions. The restaurant is off the beaten path, which is nice because they have parking. Also, it has a country farmhouse feel which was very comfortable. I visited The Surfside Rooster on a grey, rainy Sunday morning, thinking I was going to get a breakfast that was going to brighten my day- boy was I wrong. The place was very crowded: ok, I thought, lots of people means this place is popular, with good food and service. After finding a seat and getting a menu, I put in my order and waited. My juice came- tasted fine, hard to screw that up. Twenty minutes later the meal came- the bacon, which the wait staff recommended, was mostly burned, dripping with grease, and the quality wasn't even that great. The "house-made" biscuit, another recommendation, was dry, also over-cooked, and tasted slightly better than a hockey puck. It felt like they had made it two days ago; needless to say, it wasn't warm. The eggs were tolerable, although I had asked for soft, and again they were over-cooked. The grits were fine, yet it's hard to screw up grits unless you really try. The wait staff did their best to triage all the customers, although the chaos in the place did remind me of a hospital emergency room- I guess a few people called in sick that morning. I left feeling disillusioned (by all the high ratings for this place), ripped-off for having a poor-quality meal, and depressed that my high hopes for a good morning breakfast were squandered by The Surfside Rooster. Two stars: over-cooked food, cold biscuit, chaotic ambiance (the decent wait-staff saved you from getting one star). read more

My wife ordered the surfside Benedict with croissant, it was great. So good we switched. The potatoes weren't to our liking as they were soft and we usually like them on the crispier side. My breakfast was nothing to write home about. My pancakes were undercooked and my bacon was over cooked. Luckily, we told the waitress about the pancakes and they took it off our bill and gave us a croissant cinnamon roll which was decent. I didn't like my breakfast at all. Oh my! Whoever the idiot is who rated this place less than 5 stars probably had to contend with lines or the fact that they ran out of cinnamon rolls. Bottom line for us is that Surfside Rooster was probably one of the best breakfast stops we have ever had. I chose the Nashville Hot chicken with French Toast and the wife had a Chicken Biscuit. I stopped in after craving some fluffy pancakes and found this restaurant on Yelp. I ordered the pancakes and the Surfside Benedict, definitely more food than I could finish, but I enjoyed every bite. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, and the benedict was perfectly done. Definitely worth it. They know what they're doing when it comes to breakfast. Won't break the bank on this one either. This was an up and down visit - we came on a Saturday morning and quickly put our name in. We were told 20min so we waited. As we waited the bar area become available so anyone who is a fan of my yelps knows - when on the road and a bar seat becomes available - jump on it. We did and put in a drink order of coffees and waters. I have made it a point in breakfast places to really try and order something that isn't just the standard eggs meat potatoes etc - so I saw the bananas foster French toast and went for it. The main concern with our dining experience was our waitress/bartender. She seemed to really forget about us and with only 10/15 people at the bar I'm not sure how. We would ask for refills, condiments, etc and she would totally space out. Another issue was being able to look into the kitchen. No one was wearing gloves while cooking which - I don't really care about but I could see someone else having a serious issue. My French toast came out first and the rest of the team had to wait on theirs. It tasted good - though I don't know why they put the syrup on for me - I would have much rather had the bananas foster sauce do all the talking on this. It was good don't get me wrong. The bartender continually forgot about us, I had to remind her I needed more coffee, or creamer etc. She also charged one of us for hashbrowns saying it didn't come with his burrito when on the menu it blatantly said it did but he didn't argue. Not bad - I would strongly suggest reservations if possible, or getting there early. Oh and as we left an hour later our name was called for our table we were told would take 20min. Lol. read more

First impressions was that this place was small and busy. Definitely had a lot of interesting decorations and it gave you an old town country feel. My husband and I got here at the perfect time because we were seated right away. As soon as we were seated, the place started to fill up. There is not a lot of space to sit and wait around for a table to open but they try to accommodate you. The servers were nice and checked on us every so often. I ordered the Surfside Benedict sub croissant with a side of avocado and my husband ordered the triple double with blueberry pancakes, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. The Surfside Benedict comes with ham and crab cake. The hollandaise sauce was great with the crab cake and poached eggs. It was so good my husband ate the other half when I became full. The potatoes with it were soft and mushy. We didn't like them too much as we prefer potatoes to be on the crispier side for breakfast. My husband's order is where we had a problem. The bacon was overcooked pretty much to a burnt crisp and the pancakes were undercooked. My husband didn't notice the pancakes were undercooked until we switched and I tried to get a blueberry out. You could still see the batter. We told the waitress and she was kind enough to apologize and take it off of our final bill. She also offered us the croissant cinnamon roll on the house for the inconvenience. All in all the place was decent. We were really disappointed in how they cooked my husband's meal as we weren't in any rush and there really is no excuse for food being undercooked or overcooked. It was very spicy and honestly it was buffalo chicken sauce not hot honey, which the honey was truly what I had wanted honey at a brunch feast made sense Buffalo was a little much. This place is kids friendly and they have all the good options, waffles, French toast and pancakes. I was worried about a wait but I didn't have one for my party of 5. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because we stay in north OC/Fenwick and it is a long drive for us knowing there a number of other quality breakfast spots b/w here and there. I know ow that my issue. That being said, everything about it was great. Friendly attentive staff, very flavorful food, big portions and a comfortable homey atmosphere. We got there about 930 and thought it would be crowded with a wait but we got seated right away. Started with bananas Foster cinnamon roll, which was excellent. For entrées we had Nashville hot chicken French toast, the farmers skillet, the breakfast Sandwich on a biscuit, and the triple double with pancakes, bacon and eggs. Ok WOW! I was prepared to knock a star or two off due to the wait. Now I don't mind waiting for a table, but we called ahead (less than 5 minutes prior to arrival) and was told no wait. We get there - and had to wait. They wanted to seat us at a 2 top. Finally a server took pity and asked if we didn't mind sitting at a bigger table - um no, we were hungry. That being said, breakfast was WORTH THE WAIT! My go to when trying out a new breakfast place is always scrambled eggs. It's surprising how many places mess up something so simple. These were perfectly cooked - light and fluffy. The bacon was thick and well cooked, and the English muffin was toasted to perfection. But the grits? OMG - get the grits!!! I adore grits, but often have to season them with S&P and butter. Not these - WOW! Amazingly seasoned and that cheese was the perfect topper. When they first came out, I was thinking it was a small bowl, but they are rich. Trust me - it's the perfect amount. Hubby had the pancakes. Also to die for!! They are sweet and everything I love in a pancake. I would slap my Momma for that recipe. I wish we lived closer, because this would be our go to breakfast place. We were happy to visit during the slow season, knowing it gets quite busy here in the summer. BISCUITS, AND BACON, AND GRITS OH MY! The breakfast menu was substantial. The biscuit of the day included cheddar and was a bit dry which didn't stop us from eating all of it. The veggie omelette was one of the better veggie omelets I've had, all of the veg were cooked so well and seasoned in such a way that they melted very well with the cheese. Apparently, the home fries are cooked in bacon, which would have been nice to know from the menu in advance of my ordering since I do not eat meat and they had to sit sadly on my plate. My husband's grits were the stars of the show with their delicious, cheesy, robust flavor and smooth texture. THAT COMMUNITY FEEL. Our waitress was incredibly attentive, and went out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. As we were leaving, we overheard her speaking with another customer about looking forward to karaoke night. She was also mentioning saving a table for a regular who prefers a specific booth. All in all, it felt like they really cared about their customers which warmed my heart. This was close to being a five star experience and I would visit again as this is a better breakfast option than anything I've had along the OC strip.
