What a great find on the back road to the beach. We all enjoyed our first visit this morning for breakfast. The interior is covered in Fire and police themed memorabilia including photos, patches from everywhere and fire trucks. Just delightfully honoring our first responders! The service was awesome everything came out as ordered, drinks included. I tried the Chicken fried steak with country gravy, home fries, rye toast and two eggs over easy. My sis and I also ordered a French Toast(6) to share. I also had an iced coffee(refills). The portion size was generous as was the country gravy. The gravy was a bit bland so I needed to salt and pepper it. Crispy fried bite sized potato cubes accompanied the dish as did the two eggs. The toast was toasted perfectly. The French Toast was 6 thick slices of Texas toast bread wonderfully seasoned and cooked. My dining companions all enjoyed their dishes of western omelette and corned beef hash they loved their grits! A delightful discovery and close to home! It was nice to enjoy a country styled breakfast with generous portions decently priced! My only complaint was the lack of air conditioning on a 90 degree morning. It got hot fast. Stopped in here for the first time in the off-season. Have tried all the other breakfast spots in North OC/Fenwick area and this one stands among the best. It is a law-enforcement and firefighter supporting restaurant which is always a plus. Be mindful that it is cash only. I had the countryside scrambler with ham and cheddar with biscuit and grits. Biscuit was amazing. Wife got the fried egg as, pancakes and home fries which were also very good. Staff is super friendly and it appeared to me that the majority of the customers were regulars as they knew the staff and staff knew them. Highly recommend and we will be back. read more

When you think of a cute quaint breakfast spot, this is your place! Decorated with first responder badges everywhere and even amusing pictures in the bathroom! My friend and I stopped here before heading back to DC... and it was wonderful. Great service and good food. I loved my biscuit! I felt like I could eat five of them. My crab avocado toast was alright. Crab was amazing especially for the price! Toast is just wheat bread. It also comes with eggs cooked how you like them and some delicious salsa! Loved that it came with berries too! Very fresh! We missed out on the cinnamon roll, but we shall be back to try our luck again! read more

We visited Countryside Cafe for breakfast this morning, which just so happened to be their 30th anniversary. We were greeted by the owner who was very personable and took time to chat with us for 5 minutes as we were seated. The ambiance is just what the name depicts, a local cafe. It is decorated with badges and coins from Police and Fire Departments all over the country. We saw many local ones and one from as far away as San Diego. The menu is very diverse. Anything you could want from eggs and omelets to waffles and pancakes plus creamed chipped beef or ham and sausage gravy. They also have daily specials with homemade muffins which aren't to be missed! We decided to order a few different items and share between the 3 people at our table. I first ordered the homemade blueberry muffin which is absolutely amazing! I'm so thankful my server asked me if I wanted it griddled with butter. I'd never had it prepared that way before so decided to try it. Although all of our food was good, the muffin was outstanding and by far my favorite item. We also ordered pancakes, bacon, creamed chipped beef and sausage gravy which came with home fries. The sauce for the chipped beef and sausage gravy was fluffy with a generous amount of meat. I would bet the base for both of them is the same, but obviously the meat is different. The meat was not an add in at the end, but you could tell the flavor was cooked into the gravy. Both were flavorful and exceptionally filling! We ordered ours over toasted wheat. The bacon was cooked perfectly with no fatty parts remaining. The home fries were good and seasoned well, but not exceptional. We were so full that we never even got to the pancakes, so we took them home along with 1/4 of each of the chipped beef and sausage gravy, 1/2 of the home fries, and 3/4 of the bacon. The meal was a great value, as we had all of that food for under $40, and we had lots of leftovers! One serving is much larger than a person could eat by themselves. The one negative I will point out is that they are a cash only establishment. I rarely have cash with me, but I looked at their web site prior to going and learned that policy so I came prepared. They do have an ATM on site if you need cash. read more

We have been regular customers for many years and absolutely recommend the Cafe for breakfast or lunch. The owners are hard working blue collar people and go out of their way to accommodate. Do to their popularity, and especially during the summer, there is usually a line but the staff is top notch and work like a well oiled machine getting people in and keep it moving. If you want a diner style breakfast near the beach, you can't beat countryside cafe for the price. This morning I had country fried steak n eggs with a biscuit and potatos and I'm a very happy boy. It's a small dining room and a fairly busy place but I've never had to wait. Their all female/latina staff is the A team. The clientele is an eclectic blend of tourists and the Selbyville geriatric set. The biscuit alone is worth the price of admission -- the best I've had in a long time. Cash only. read more

Just finished eating breakfast at Countryside Cafe. First time eating here. IT WAS EXCELLENT. Restaurant is clean and staff is very attentive. We were seated right away and asked if we would like some coffee or anything else to drink. Waitress came back with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order. Food came out quickly and was good and hot. Our waitress came back no less than two times to ask how everything was and if we needed anything. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! I have never paid more than $11 for my breakfast, how do you not have $11 in cash on you? Is it really hard to take a $20 out at the Royal farms down the street? We popped in on Sunday morning for breakfast during Bikefest. They were busy but we were still seated pretty quickly. Serve was very good, our server was very nice and attentive. Food came out in a decent amount considering how busy they were. The food was very, very good. I had Eggs Benidict with home fried which was very good but could could have used so more Hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were good but I asked for onions in my potatoes and I saw very little onions. We've been coming to Ocean City for at least 20 years now. There are plenty of good places to get breakfast, but our favorite is Countryside Cafe. Kind of nestled in a shopping center off of 54, in Selbyville, DE, but not to be missed. We've been here a few times over the years, so far, twice this trip. The baked goods (muffins and biscuits) are homemade; they make their own hot sauce! The service is top notch, very friendly and attentive. Every time we come, we eat like pigs, because everything is delicious. We love their biscuits and gravy, treat yourself! The first responders theme is very cool. When we visit the area this is a go to spot for breakfast. The service is second to none. They waitresses (and owner) are extremely friendly and always come to you with a smile. The four people at my table each had something different. All were happy with the choices but my go to choice is the creamed chipped beef. The host/manager was friendly, but not restaurant-fake friendly as we shared a chuckle as we were seated. The service staff was capable and on top of things. The food was well made and hit the spot. I docked it two stars for two reasons: 1) service was a bit slow. It took a while for them to take our order and no one came by with a coffee refill. 2) it's cash only. I'm so sad to say this but we just didn't love it. With all of the great breakfast places in OC this was not one that we would come to. The best part about this place is the service. I would say 5 stars for that, however the rest of it goes downhill very fast. We ordered the corned beef hash and the pancakes. While the pancakes were pretty good, the hash was not cooked enough. We know its probably hash from a can and it really needs to be cooked properly in order to get that mineral taste out. Additionally, there were flies all over, granted we did sit next to the window, it was just a little much for us. Sometimes I will give a place a pass but it was really hard for us to enjoy. This open year round establishment has more local and repeat customers than Cheers! I'm sure local bars have their repeats, but this is just a breakfast and lunch spot. To the negative people looking for something to complain about, I'm sure you have something negative to say about every place you go, some people you just can't please unless you give it away. RUDEST manager/owner ever. TWO of her waitresses asked me to approach their boss about not having my mushrooms cooked in my omelette. This has happened previously. One of the waitresses previously told me there was new kitchen staff who "weren't getting it"...and that their boss never believed them. The last visit as the waitress brought me a serving of grits....by the way I NEVER tried them, and they were never even placed in front of me because the waitress said..."these look bad...really gummy...I wouldn't eat them...let me take them back". She then offered a substitute and I declined. I had a 12 year old with me at the time and she brought him a free muffin gratis. Today when I brought the issue of nearly raw mushrooms in my omelette to the managers attention at the behest of not one but 2 waitresses.... I was told by the manager that I was in fact the problem. That the waitresses told her they could "never" make me happy. She stalked off to have a discussion with the waitresses who could no longer look me on the eye. I was absolutely dumbfounded. We have gone to this restaurant FREQUENTLY as it is right outside of our neighborhood where we own our 2nd home. Not only was I told that I was the problem and that they couldn't make me happy by asking for cooked mushrooms in an omelette... Or receiving grits that weren't gummy, that I hadn't even tried, that the waitress basically didn't even serve to me... And told me that she was taking back because she herself wouldn't eat them... And then offered a free muffin... But that I was absolutely wrong and that they had no new kitchen staff. Now, how in the world would I have come up with that??Someone told me... I have been told by their staff on many occasions that Management does not care, and today that came through loud and clear. Clearly, I did not eat my breakfast, I went to pay for it, I was told that it was on the house, which I really did not intend to allow... But I also let them know that I would not be back. Ladies working there, if you are unhappy, I suggest you go out the same way you came in, looking for a job... You actually have patrons who care/cared about your service and thought that you provided excellent service and were always complimentary. We were genuinely thrilled with the way that you treated us and friends we took. What's even more upsetting is that I specifically said to you, I don't want to say anything if it's going to cause a problem... And guess what, it caused a problem... I'm assuming not just for me, but for you as well. Prospective customers, If you're going in as a one time customer, sure go ahead and stop... But if this is a place where you intend on going as a repeat customer... I wouldn't get your hopes up, and I could suggest going to several other places nearby, like the Bethany diner, or the General Kitchen, they far exceed in their expectations and service especially management. read more

Yes, I am a fan!!! You do need to know if you are going to breakfast on the weekend, there will be a wait, but it is worth it. From the food to the staff, to the decorations everything is amazing. I was visiting my sister and she took me here. The kids enjoyed the food as much as we did. The kids got the chocolate pancakes and they ate them all. I had the french toast and ate the homefries. Hair in my food, watched the girl who gets drinks cough in her hand multiple times and then continue getting drinks. The waitress who brought our food to the table put her entire hand over top of the side dish of home fries, grabbing it by all sides with her palm almost touching. They don't have real maple syrup or butter. To top it off, they don't accept credit or debit, but they have an ATM in the lobby. How perfect! (Sarcasm).
