We stopped by for lunch shortly after arriving for our OCMD beach weekend and were thoroughly impressed by the caliber of food LA is dishing out. What started as a liquor store with a bar has evolved into a seriously good restaurant that stands out from the usual beach fare. Our table of four shared a bunch of small plates and a few larger dishes. We tried the steamed mussels, buffalo wings, tuna crisps, baked oysters, short rib pot pie, and Kung Pao calamari. The rich short rib pot pie was excellent, and we loved the baked oysters with aged cheddar, honey chipotle, and fresh chimichurri. Our favorite was the Kung Pao calamari, which had a great sweet Asian heat that made it a fun spin on the classic. We also ordered a round of cocktails, with the bourbon and whiskey based drinks being the favorites. The Wild Fashioned was especially good. Another great perk is that dining guests receive 10 percent off purchases from the attached liquor store. We happily took advantage and stocked up on Willett bourbon and Clase Azul tequila for the rest of the beach weekend. Overall, Liquid Assets is a great place to come for a drink or three with some elevated bites, especially when you are ready for a break from typical beach food. We will definitely be back.

The Caesar was excellent: fresh, whole romaine hearts tossed in a nice tangy dressing, topped with flavorful brown bread croutons and a solid chunk of quality cheese. The cream of tomato soup was equally good, carrying over those same rich croutons and cheese to tie the meal together seamlessly. Service was top-notch as well--the bartender was friendly and welcoming, and the kitchen churned out the food impressively fast. Great spot all around; I will definitely be back.

We also shared the happy hour wood-fired grilled oysters Reggiano with butter, garlic, blackening parmesan cheese, and salt for $19, though they tasted very salty. Additionally, I had the happy hour lobster roll on a toasted buttered brioche roll for $21, substituting the french fries with a side of coleslaw. It tasted quite similar to the lobster roll at Off The Hook in Bethany Beach. I finished my meal with a happy hour draft Evo Lot 3 beer for $6. Our bartender, Jon L., served us very well throughout the visit. The total bill was $128 excluding gratuity, which featured a 3% credit card surcharge of $3.57. After applying a $50 gift letter discount, the final bill was reduced down to $81. We all agreed that we will certainly return to visit Jordan and Cowan again.

I get it's the off season, but there really is no off season at Fast Eddies. So we ordered something significantly cheaper from the menu. When the food came out, it was just ok. My boneless wings were way overdone and the crab burger was just ok. When the check came, it seemed to be a little high, like she never adjusted the pricing from the crab cake dinner. We never received the itemized receipt and after she dropped the slip to sign, we didn't see her again. So we just signed the receipt and left, as we had plans to get to. I don't know if we'll be back to be completely honest.

This was my first visit to The General's Kitchen and it is now one of my favorite breakfast locations in OC. I had to try the chipped beef and it didn't fail to impress. I make chipped beef at home on occasion and this was better than what I usually churn out. The gravy was creamy, not super thick and there was an adequate amount of chipped beef on the plate. My wife got the eggs over easy and they were perfectly cooked. The hash browns were also nice and crispy on the outside, which isn't always the case at other restaurants. The service was pretty quick and friendly as well. All the wait staff were cordial and had smiles on their faces when we were there. I've seen a lot of comments about the new location and not having been to the old location, I can't do a comparison, but i had been to the former Galaxy 66. I did feel like the decor was a little odd as well, unless the General was in the space fleet, aboard the Star Trek Enterprise. It appeared that they may have been in transition or at least I would hope so. The old bar area was being used as a breakfast bar and the cereals were displayed on what used to be the shelf for top-shelf liquors. Not that the decor affects the taste of the food, but setting the ambiance is a part of the dining experience. I imagine the old decor is what made people feel welcome and at home, so hopefully they do something with it in the future. read more

Best breakfast spot in OCMD. They've always been fast and the food has always been awesome since the good ole' days when they were back on 74th street. Food always comes out warm and fills up the whole plate. I've been ordering the General's Kitchen Special for the last decade. Best bang for your buck. My wife loves the Western Breakfast. Can't go wrong with steak, eggs, and coffee! My kids love their pancakes and waffles. They're known for their cream chipped beef and on the rare occasion that I do end up ordering it as a side it lives up to expectations! Staff is always friendly, quick, and reliable. I'd get breakfast here everyday if I lived in OCMD year round 5 out of 5 stars! read more

Laughing and paying not attention to anyone who entered. We walked to the bar and seated ourselves. She walked to us and said we could not sit there that the man she seated was a family member. We apologized and got back in line. At that time, another couple had walked in so we stepped in front of them and told them we were sent back to get in line. The couple asked us if anyone was seating people and I pointed to the hostess laughing behind the counter and said we have been here at least 5 minutes. About a minute or two later, the hostess approached us and greeted us by saying, we are short staffed today so I dont know how long you will have to wait. I immediately gave her my name and said table for 2. The couple behind us did the same. Within 5 minutes, the family in front of us was called, followed by us. The couple behind us was seated shortly thereafter. The reason for my message is the way we were treated was very off-putting. I felt like we were being encouraged to leave, not all welcome. I really like it there but this woman was the worst hostess.
