I've been here a few different times. Once or twice for breakfast and a few times for drinks. Their happy hour prices are perfect-o, the service is friendly, and they don't leave you hanging while the bartender chats up other customers. The breakfast food is delicious (I usually go for the French Toast). They have this thing called monkey bread which is kind of like a sweet connamon twist. Chewy and delicious, which they serve automatically as a side with breakfast, and also sell separately to go. The sit-down service in the restaurant is also friendly and quick, and the Bloody Marys are great. The only downside is that the inside is a little small, which is OK by me. They have outdoor seating as well, which is great during the warm summer months. Warning: during the summer, the place is packed. We're in a beach resort town. read more

It seems like people go bananas for bad monkey, it was packed when we got there around 9amish for 3- had a little bit of a wait, maybe 5-10 minutes. They have no the indoor and outdoor seating, we opted for indoor because it was a bit windy outside. Our server was Drew, who was great! He had recommended the breakfast tacos but I couldn't give up ordering a Crabcake so I ordered the Sunny Side of the Bay and my dad got the Westside omelet. The chorizo and potatoes on my entree were great! Huge portions- we couldn't finish it but it was tasty. The homemade toast wasn't all that though. We always love the monkey bread! The coffee my mom ordered was a bit watery, unfortunately. We went to Starbucks after to get coffee. Always so good .. their menu is fantastic offering something for everyone. The service is usually good. I love the open feels with inside and outside seating. Went here during lunch hours were sat at a nice table indoors overlooking the area. They had the windows open so it was beautiful. We've been here before and the food has been good. We wanted stuff from their amazing sweet breakfast menu, and for some reason thought they did breakfast all day. Sadly they don't, but our waitress recommended the waffles (the only all day breakfast item). We were disappointed at first, but omg they were the best waffles! They had little crunchy bits of syrup imbedded in them and were served with fresh fruit. I had cold brew coffee with it and the whole meal was delicious (and very, very sweet!). read more

Sorry Bad Monkey, but consistency is lacking with your Burgers. After going to the Coastal Highway location a few months ago, ordered my favorite burger, Whiskey Rebellion, and was very disappointed, and excused because I thought it was the location that was the issue. BUT, We returned last night to West OC to have that delicious burger which is pictured in my original review. Unfortunately, it's not just a different location that's the issue, it's the lack of consistency with ingredients and quality. I think you lost us as customers and personal recommendations to friends visiting town. I am giving 3 stars, should be less, but there are 2 saves for this review, the Chicken cheesesteak sub was still tasty, HOWEVER, much smaller than it was before; AND Service was top notch with Harmony as our waitress, very pleasant, offered refills without having to ask and great bubbly personality. Anyone looking to try a burger here, go elsewhere and compare my photos between last night and my original post. As far as atmosphere, there were 2 very loud individuals at 2 different areas on opposite sides of the room that made having conversations at our table very difficult because of their overly boisterous levels. Because it's an open vaulted ceiling there's little to help reducing volume levels around the room and it wasn't a busy evening in there for a Saturday night during what I'd consider peak dinner time either. I will say that the food was very good ...... but couldn't get what I actually wanted. They were out of the Maryland crab dip for the truffle fries and burger I wanted. My backup was the salmon sandwich and it did not disappoint it was very good with a large portion for the price. The Staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable even while training. Passing through the area looking for a Sunday dinner. This was our choice. My wife and I split a plate of shrimp tacos and honey sriracha wings. It wound up being the perfect amount of food and the perfect blend of flavors. We loved both dishes. The wings were just spicy enough and not overwhelming. Typically I would give 5 stars as I have loved Bad Monkey's food and their service has been on point. Today, our waitress was struggling. I ordered a sandwich with truffle fries. Food comes out with regular fries. When the waitress comes by to check on things, I asked if these were the truffle fries. She says no, and will be right back. I'm thinking she will return with a new plate of truffle fries. Nope, she literally gives me 2 condiment cups, 1 with truffle oil and 1 with grated cheese. ‍‍‍ TO MAKE MY OWN! This was the perfect way to end our Ocean City trip before we got on the road. Delicious breakfast to start the day made me a little less sad. We started with the cinnamon bread. oh damn, right there, I was hooked. Sweet, soft, little crunch on the dge. YUM I started with a Bloody Mary and it was delicious. lots of good flavor without being too boozy. Breakfast for me was the Bad Monkey special. Nothing too original- but done very well. We had a friend recommend bad monkey so we came for breakfast. It was a Saturday morning and the wait time was about 40 minutes for 2 people. There's no reservations, so you walk in and get placed on the waitlist until you receive a text that the table is ready. We started off with some orange juice and hot coffee. We ordered the Nutella French toast, cold brew crepes and a side of the breakfast potatoes. Everything was delicious! Especially the potatoes. They were seasoned so well and came out warm and fresh. The crepes had a Nutella and cream cheese filling with fresh fruit as well, very yummy. We had several staff checking in on us often and were very friendly. My bananas foster crepe was amazing! Loved the fresh fruit accompaniment. Side of home fries were a little heavy on the old bay but very good nonetheless. Fresh Pineapple Mimosa...yes please! My friend really liked the Single Guy omelette. Packed full of steak, peppers and onions. Visited 10/21 for lunch. All draft beers are craft beers , no draft Miller Lite etc. Went with domestic cans. $4.50 per can until H/H them 2 for 1. Ordered wings and emphasized well done x3. Told waitress not done enough and the cook Deangelo came out. Said he put them in for 10 minutes and I suggested 13 minutes. He nailed it ,crispy and very enjoyable !! Girlfriend's crab cake was a 2 , no flavor what's so ever ! Rolls being used are way too big. My "Randolph" cheesesteak sub was mostly "filler" a lot of lettuce , tomato and cheese. Fried onions were good but there was very little steak. What little steak that was there was placed directly on top almost like a garnish. Again roll was too big . For $17 not worth it ! Bad Monkey features their incredible monkey bread with every meal for the table to share, tons of breakfast / lunch options and PLENTY of drinks to choose from! If you enjoy craft beer / something non-traditional, they have great sections for that too! There's also a shop downstairs where you can purchase Bad Monkey clothing! The restaurant is very clean and the service is very quick with friendly staff! We weren't sure how this place was going to be based on some of the reviews. But honestly it was great! Very friendly staff. Our waiter was very attentive. We asked to be seated outside on the deck since it was nice out. Maybe not the greatest view but it was nice enough. For apps we had the buffalo chicken dip and the fried peppers. Both were great! They're right, the fried peppers really are addictive. For our meals we had the patty melt (outstanding, best burger I've had all week), the shrimp tacos (really good), kids cheese burger, and a kids grilled cheese. Wife and I had orange crushes and the key lime crush. Both very good. They must use a better vodka than Smirnoff because it blends really nice. They were perfectly balanced. It's a fun atmosphere. We stopped in the store on the way out and grabbed a few shirts. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend this location. read more

Like many others, we've been driving past Bad Monkey for years every time we come & leave OCMD. Even though it looked busy, we figure WTH, and made a highly impromptu visit on the way out of town last Sunday morning. We figured that if the wait was "too long" we would just take off. The guy at the host stand sort of gaslit us when he said it would be a 5-10 minute wait. 5 became 10 which became 15 which became 20 and then we finally got the text for our table at the 26 minute mark. You could wait in their little waiting area, or as suggested to us and everyone that had to wait for a table, you could of course head downstairs and waste time looking at all of the Bad Monkey merch you really don't need in your life while waiting for the holy table is ready text. Upside to the service we received was that we were brought ice water at the initial interaction from our server. The downside was that even though we asked for refills twice, our server forgot both times, which equaled it never happening. Some Kind of Sausage Gravy - Stay Skinny My Friends - Crab & Provolone Omelet As for the food, nothing really to report here. Pretty basic stuff that would be hard to mess up and if they did, it would sort of be a wonder as to why they're always so busy. As I innuendoed earlier, when we came around Noon the place was seriously busy but don't let that deter you as the parking lot is fairly large and right around the corner is the OCMD park & ride lot which is monstrously large and in the offseason it has more than enough space in a doomsday scenario. Plus, they legit do turn tables here fairly quickly. FWIW, by the time we left, the place had cleared out considerably. Probably 3/4 of the tables were empty. I assume this has something to do with them changing over from breakfast to the lunch/dinner menu but I have no idea specifically when that happens as I don't remember anything on the menu or their website indicating when that occurs. Overall was anything here all that special? Not really. I think part of the appeal comes from a great location right on one of the two major roads in and out of OC but I think in January it's also something to do with it being a weekend and them simply being open. Lots of people make weekend day trips or weekend jaunts here in winter (I know as we've been doing it for years now) and if you're open on a weekend, you seemingly do pretty good business. I honestly don't think too much of their lunch/dinner menu (nothing wrong with it but it's stuff you could get anywhere) but in the future for breakfast, I could see a return trip here as the food is predictably solid and that's good enough for me. read more

This has happened twice now in the same week... we have called and they said they would seat us within the next half hour or so. Our party arrives and they claim that they are "closed" or "closing soon" after we have arrived and send our party away. So we have left twice now after saying they would seat us and then claiming they cannot 5-10 minutes later. Over the phone very nice and happy to help but in person seemed a bit clueless and unaware of the restaurants closing times and opening times. We came for spring break. Based on having dogs allowed it was cold but this location was the best. The one on the main strip was not as nice seating, tables looked more run down. We started with cold drinks but there was no wait staff outside yet. Young lady helped and cleaned an outside table for us and dogs. Chicken tenders were the best for an appetizer. Next fish tacos, Burger and cheesesteak. Everything was very good. Service was fabulous. Very open restaurant with a great view of the beach and marinas. If we could give 10 stars we would! Super clean restaurant and bathroom facilities, which on any given day is appreciated but especially in pandemic times. We were treated to free monkey bread because they had "extra" leftover from breakfast. Great customer service, and kudos for not wasting the yummy morsels and throwing them away. As a confessed carboholic these were divine - light, airy dough with the perfect blend of cinnamon sugar coating them perfectly. Slightly sticky but not cloying or overly gooey. The pink lemonade was just the right level of sweet and tart, and was perfectly refreshing. Amazing chicken tenders on the kids menu, three huge strips of perfectly breaded and baked/fried pieces, enough for the grateful parents to sample. Served on a bed of fries that were thin and crisp, with just the right level of salt. The adults opted for the Randolf steak and cheese (you had us at "beer cheese") and hamburger sub. You can get any of the subs in a wrap, but so just had to get mine on the fresh baked roll. Crispy outer layer gives way to a soft, pillowy interior, and the perfect foil for the expertly cooked burger with my choice of toppings (Mayo, shredded lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and peppers). The drink menu looked sublime, and we will be back tomorrow for the happy hour deals! We also hope to try the breakfast, looks amazing!
