Came across this place while in Katy and let me tell you I was NOT expecting such a big portion. I ordered 3 wing and gizzards combo and my husband got the fish plate with okra. When I tell you the boxes were not even close all the way bc there was so much food in the box lol I love gizzards but these were fried a little too hard for me I like my gizzards a little more softer but still fried that's the reason for the 4 star but other than that everything was amazing! Dish was fried to perfection and wings were nice and crispy!!!! Okra was such a generous "side" as well. He gave us like 20 sauces for everything and ketchup no napkins but that's ok! Went in today and ordered a 15-piece whole wing meal. After receiving my order, I asked for mild sauce, hook sauce, and some lemon pepper on the side, which I've been getting for years. I was told they charge extra for lemon pepper. I simply asked when they started charging for it because I've never been charged before. The employee responded that they have always charged for it. When I explained that I had never been charged in the past, she told me she had been working there a long time and had never seen me before. At that point, it felt like I was being called a liar. I made it clear that I had no problem paying the charge--I was only asking when the policy changed. The issue wasn't the cost; it was the way I was treated. As a longtime customer, I didn't appreciate being spoken to that way. Because of this experience, I won't be returning, and I'll be sharing my experience with the customers and friends I've referred there over the years. Captain Hooks was a place that I found through yelp reviews. They were rated pretty high. I had a taste for some chicken wings so I decided to stop in one afternoon to try them out. Once I arrived, they immediately took my order and I had a small wait for my food. I like the fact that they fry them immediately while you there instead of getting some that were under the light. I tried the wings. It was seasoned exceptionally well and I had one catfish fillet. The catfish was OK but the batter didn't adhere to the fish in some areas so I took one star off for that. I will definitely go back and try them again, maybe even some of the shrimp that they had. read more

We finally had a chance to check this place out. I had high hopes based on the good reviews both on Yelp and Google. We went through the drive thru. Customer service was excellent. He was super friendly and helpful. It took a little while because we had a pretty big order and everything was made to order so we didn't mind a little bit of a wait. It's worth it for fresh and hot food. All the food was delicious. Prices are also very reasonable for the portions and quality. The big portions were perfect for sharing so we could all try different things. Definitely listen to the good reviews and check this place out. read more

Delicious breading on fantastic chicken livers. Best chicken livers I've had and a long time. They don't serve the livers with a gravy, but they do have some kind of sauce, and orange sauce, that goes really good with the livers. I really appreciate that that when I asked for my livers to be well done, my request was heard and delivers were done perfectly to my liking. I can't tell you how many times I ask for my livers to be well done and apparently it falls on deaf ears. Plus, the portion size is almost unbelievable. The best livers, cooked perfectly and at a price that makes me wish I lived out here instead of in Tomball. A Yelp search is how I stumbled onto this little gem, and am I happy I did. I hate to leave bad reviews but ever since the owner has left the cooking to his employees, the quality has gone down. Prices higher and lower quality equals a no go for me. Being a Milwaukee native, discovering this restaurant instantly brought joy to my heart. This is my favorite place to go and get fried chicken and I hadn't had pizza puffs since I was a kid. I have been patronizing Captain Hooks for years. I used to have a out the food and service.. until yesterday. I called to order a livers and gizzards plate. I get there to pick up my food and when I arrived home, this is what I saw. Burnt, old food. The food, including the fries looked like they were cooked in 6 week old oil. The young lady at the counter, while she was polite to me, was rude to other customers. Captain Hooks have lost a loyal customer. My wife is currently on a dairy-free diet and wings w/o dairy batter is hard to come by. I was targeted by Captain Hooks on social media and I figure I give them a call to ask about their ingredients. They assured me multiple times the wings are dairy free so I went ahead an ordered. Wings were a hit! No issues with my wife's allergies...win all around! I ordered the 25 wing platter , which comes with fries and Hook's sauce on the side. The wings are excellent tasting, great seasoning and crispy! The fries are just ok but I'm not really there for the fries. The gentlemen were very friendly and accommodating by going over the menu and making sure I got the best option. I got 2 fish and 3 whole wings which is a win in my book without a drink for $15. Stumbled upon this "awesome" seafood place...! The fish was cooked to perfection and even the fries were extremely delicious!

My hubby and I are regulars here. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There has been a time where we ordered minutes to closing time and they said they will accept our order and wait for us to pick up (about 20 minutes past closing). The space inside is small but we always manage to find a spot to eat inside, even during the dinner rush. Most people order to-go. They have a drive-through window which is convenient. The food is cooked/fried fresh to order. We've ordered the fried fish (I've tried the flounder and catfish, but they do have tilapia and cod as well), shrimp, wings and okra, all well seasoned and crispy. The house sauce is a must! I've been wanting to try this place and in my day off my friend and I went. If you have a large group, be aware there is limited seating. This is more of a to-go place. I ordered the 10 wings which are whole wings with fries and bread for $17. My friend and her daughter got the 2 fish filets with 10 shrimp and fried okra. Her daughter got a hamburger with corn hush puppies. Everything was fried well, fresh, and well seasoned. I really liked the orange sauce they had. They had several sauce options. My husband and I try this place for the first time yesterday. It had been on my list for a while. Everything was so delicious. When I say seasoned. Everything was seasoned to perfection and fried fresh. We got a plate that had six whole wings and 10 shrimp. It came with fries and bread. I think the shrimp were a little on the small side but that would be my only complaint. I didn't realize I needed a side of hush puppies. They have two different styles to choose from. They have a sweet corn version and an onion version. We got the onion version and they were delicious. They have a lot of different sauces to choose from as well. I've given this restaurant one too many chances. I've been here 3 times and each time the chicken has been salty. I went on Friday ordered 6 wings and 10 fried shrimp and asked them to season the food but not heavily. I arrived home and noticed the shrimp were cooked shrimp, not raw and the breading was soggy and had come off. The chicken was fried too hard and burnt and I couldn't tell if it was seasoned because it was burnt. I give up. Never again no more! read more

My husband sent me an ad for Captain Hook's as he knows I love seafood and it's very close to our neighborhood. It's in an unassuming, but easy to access strip with other businesses, and when we went it was within an hour of closing and completely empty, which was not surprising as it was a rainy Tuesday night. We were greeted immediately by eager friendly staff, and asked if we would be dining in or taking to go. The inside is very small, maybe 3-4 tables of 2 seats each, so don't expect to eat here during busy times. No worries though because there is a drive through as well as quick counter service. After ordering our meals we sat down to eat, and was asked again about our dining preferences, and we stuck with eating in as we had another run to make afterwards. When I tell you it was fresh and hot, it seems like an understatement. My husband loved his chicken and fish (he burned the roof of his mouth eating lol) and my fish and shrimp were also cooked to perfection. A small but relatively nice restaurant but the service was abysmal. The person taking the orders was essentially mute. He was extremely unresponsive as if he didn't hear or understand for what we were asking. Only to have him say after a long pause, "I got you." I'm surprised that they are able to stay in business. It took 40 minutes for us to get our meal. When my wife's meal arrived it was cold. When I pointed it out the man behind the counter strongly objected stating that he had pulled out the fish from the grease himself. It was a blatant lie. Why? Because he had just shown up for work. The meal was prepared and presented before he arrived. Another employee went back to redo the order. Afterwards the lying employee returned explaining that he asked the real cook who admitted that her meal was in fact not hot. This admission inadvertently proved that he lied to us. These are just a series of problems that made our initial experience with this restaurant a bad experience. Side note the few fellow customers there were more friendly that the restaurant staff. I post these observations to help people decide to maybe try a different establishment. I hope they will. read more

So last night we went because we saw ONE car at drive-through. we sat behind that one car forever but good news, ours was ready when we drove up. Cut to chase, shrimp were tasty but really small. The catfish looked good but was disappointed. I tried to break off a piece (no utensils) and it resisted. The crust was so hard!
